Ok I've got a bit of a silly question and I'm probably worrying more than I need to.

We have one of those Disney backpacks with the drawstring straps and we attach the pins that we purchase at Disney to the outside of it and use the really secure backings that require a little key to take them off. I'm planning on having this in my carry-on luggage so that we have it once we get to the hotel but I really don't want to have to take off the pins that we have and then put them back on once we get to Disney. Has anyone ever had any problems going through security with the Disney Pins? Plus I don't want to run the risk of having them taken away at the security checkpoint.

Any help would be so appreciated as we leave in only 7 more days :minnie:

Thanks!

People wear pins and travel all the time, especially pins with shanks as short as these. The fact that you have so many on your backpack only means that you could give somebody freckles if you wanted to, and that's about it.

Granted, the security folks are funky sometimes, and anything's possible, but I don't think it breaks a rule in and of itself.

Best to contact them and explain the situation ... send them a picture if possible (if you can), or if you're not that far from the airport, take the backpack and ask them. Couldn't hurt.

We've been through several times - coming and going, checked and carry on - and have never had an issue.

We didn't have any problems flying out of Newark, but...

When we did the Resort Airline Check In at POFQ, the people there told us to take our lanyard off and put it in our checked baggage. They said MCO was strict about it, and they would take it away.

That was not a risk we were willing to take, so we put it in our luggage.

I'm eager to see if anyone has any other experiences with this.

I've always put my laynard with my pins on in my carryon. Never had any problems going through MCO security with it.

Sounds like you might want to put the bag in your carry-on and use it at the parks and use a different bag on the plane. It would be easier than trying to remove and replace the backs of those pins that can get stripped easily.

Thanks for all the responses. They would be in the carryon, but I might contact the airport just in case. Never hurts to double check.

Only 4 more days to go!!! :mickey:

I collect Disney pins and always bring pins to trade on the outbound and pins to add to my collection on the return, through airport security.

I also carry them in my carry on and have never had any issue with the TSA. Never! :cloud9:

No worries ... you will be fine.
