Oct. 3, 1888 – Screen and stage actor Claud Allister, whose Disney voice credits include “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad” (as Rat) and “The Reluctant Dragon” (as Sir Giles), was born in London, England.
Oct. 3, 1912 – Van France, founder of the University of Disneyland training center (now called Disney University) was born in Seattle, Washington. (His progressive concepts in guest services has provided the foundation for training every new Disneyland Cast Member since Disneyland opened in 1955.)
Oct 3, 1914 – During the Great War, Canadian Officer Harry Colebourn boarded the S.S. Manitou (Which was headed for England) along with a small cub bear he has named Winnie. His regiment would ultimately be sent to the battlefields of France and Colebourn would leave Winnie with the London Zoo.
Oct. 3, 1927 – Disney’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon “The Mechanical Cow” was released.
Oct. 3, 1934 – A story meeting took place for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Among the topics discussed, the bed building sequence, Snow White teaching the dwarfs how to say their prayers and title cards being used to show the passage of time.
Oct. 3, 1941 – Disney’s Pluto cartoon “Lend a Paw” was released.
Oct. 3, 1942 – Actor Steve Susskind, whose voice credits include “Monsters, Inc.”, and “The Emperor’s New Groove,” was born in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Oct. 3, 1947 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey’s Delayed Date” was released.
Oct. 3, 1955 – Disney’s 10 episode second TV show “What I Want to Be,” began airing on “The Mickey Mouse Club” was launched on ABC. (Ended Sept. 25, 1959)
