Some Concerns About Small Worlds

After chrisb26 posted the Small Worlds update, and TinkRocks gave us a suggestion to getting the level status we need for when Small Worlds goes pay to play, I decided I better get in there and play. I like Small Worlds and like the idea of us all having a place to meet and chat, like the good old days. After these last few days of playing again I have seen and heard some things in Small Worlds that reminded me that it is an adult site. First the language, both by players and song lyrics. And the second took me by surprise pornographic movies from YouTube. Going into rooms to complete missions exposes you to things I have not seen in the rooms of my friends. So, like I said before I like Small Worlds, but it does alienate our younger VMKer's from joining us.:tink:

Yeah that is a major downside to the game. It has been talked about on their forums before and they have made some action against it such as making it so all the stereos in their public areas only play music they approve.

Unfortunately not much has been done to stop this in peoples private rooms. Which is why I try to stay away as much as possible but with the new missions it makes that difficult at times. One thing I would really like them to implement is a report system for rooms. You are able to report a person specifically which if your in a room with those videos and so is the room owner I would suggest that.

Hopefully they do take measures to limit this in the future. It's one thing to have a game for older people but an entirely different thing to allow some of the things you mentioned.

The game definately isn't family friendly :( But as long we use it just to see each other we should be fine.

There is a function in your 'settings' panel - you can click on a button that will screen language.

Mods (SW staff) and helpers (similar to VMK's Community Leaders) are on the lookout for players using bad language, and also do screen videos, pics, and music. It is difficult to monitor every single room every minute of every day, but you can also report players and/or rooms for objectionable material.

Mods and Helpers can usually be found wearing capes and have mod or helper in their title.
