Upgraded beyond club level?

All this recent talk of upgrades has me curious. Has anyone who was already booked club level/concierge received an upgrade? Perhaps to a suite or something?

NOTE: I would NEVER ask for a free upgrade. Not my style. That is not why I am asking. I firmly believe in, "If you want it, pay for it", so no need to leave those comments. Just curious if anyone has ever gotten an upgrade after already having booked club level.

I had one night booked at CR on the 10th floor (atrium club level, I think)and when we checked in we were upgraded to a 1br suite on the 12th floor. It was kinda cool because the gal checking us in was new and she had to call someone over and they said "oh when they are given a room up there you need to push this button and get someone to escort them up" . I had a feeling we were in for a surprise!!! if you click on my name, then my homepage,I have some pictures of the view, it is in my 2006 trip pictures and the view from the 12th floor was amazing. our room was sooooooo big it had 3 bathrooms.

I was upgraded from 14th floor club level at Contemporaray to a one bedroom suite on the 14th floor. It was the one and only upgrade I ever received and it sure was a nice one!

Yes, twice at the GF. The first time was many years ago when they offered a "light" concierge and full concierge. I had booked light and we were upgraded to full when we checked in. Not too long ago, we were booked in the main building at the GF and when we arrived, they upgraded us to a turret suite.

Maybe if I keep my fingers crossed for upcoming trip in Dec., we would get one at Coronado or ALK!!! Doesn';t hurt to wish!!

I never had the nerve to ask for a free upgrade. However last time I was at AKL I had asked for an upgrade from standard view to a pool view, stating I would pay the difference. The CM left and came back a few moments later with a new room assignment for the pool view. She said there would be no charge. I would have paid but they kept saying no charge and smiled. It was nice.

But I would take a free upgrade to the Castle any time. :D

I think most upgrades occur when you don't ask and it's already been in the works before you arrive. We were upgraded to club level at GF in March, it was a super suprise!
