The Trip
August 28- September 1
Mom and Dad have 3 day park hoppers and I have an Annual Pass.
Saturday, August 30: We were up bright and early for morning EMH at DHS. Everyone crammed into the park and at rope-drop we headed for TSM. We grabbed 3 fastpasses for later that morning and then hoped in the standby line. The queue (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2958215160103323144xkJekp?vhost=good-times) was really neat. The ride (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2885096720103323144HJXHRk?vhost=good-times) was even better! I liked this a lot more than Buzz. After TSM we went to the GMR (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2588251490103323144mHsvoF?vhost=good-times). There was only about a 10 minute wait. This seemed to be a trend the entire trip. There was very little wait for anything! After our journey through the movies we headed to Star Tours (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2100929650103323144tdWDcU?vhost=good-times). By the time we got off of Star Tours the skies were looking worse than they had earlier. We decided to head back to the hotel. We freshened up a bit before getting in the car and heading for the Prime Outlets on International. As soon as we started driving the skies opened up and we were glad that we had decided to take a shopping break. I wanted to check out both the Coach and Dooney & Bourke outlets as I am a purse junkie. Unfortunately I didn’t find anything that jumped out at me. After a quick stop at the New Balance store and a new pair of shoes for Dad we went to the Disney Character Warehouse. I picked up an adorable Lilo & Stitch t-shirt for my friend Susan’s little girl Ava who loves Lilo. My mom and I also found the Vera Bradley-like Mickey purses and wallets that we had seen in March and regretted not buying. They didn’t have the pink one that I originally wanted, but I settled for the blue. At only $10.99 for the purse and $7.99 for the matching wallet we thought these were a steal! Back to the hotel to drop off our purchases where we were surprised when we walked into our room. While we were gone birthday balloons (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2059621840103323144qtHRMM?vhost=good-times) and a signed picture of Mickey were delivered for Dad (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2563852970103323144iIcxyJ?vhost=good-times)! Soon we were at EPCOT. We had 6:50 dinner reservations at the Coral Reef, another restaurant which we had never eaten at. We were quickly seated in a booth on the lowest level with a direct view of the aquarium (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2794450000103323144MesWLA?vhost=good-times). It was perfect! Mom and Dad both ordered the NY Strip (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2878337880103323144cxOTJr?vhost=good-times) and I ordered the Salmon with Rattatouille (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2375238050103323144BAycOG?vhost=good-times). We all agreed that the steaks were the best we had ever had on property and my salmon was wonderful. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors blended well together. For dessert I ordered the Key Lime Tart (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2029789670103323144jIPedZ?vhost=good-times), Mom ordered the Chocolate Wave (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2542163550103323144qBGenc?vhost=good-times), and Dad ordered the Bailey’s and Jack Daniels Mousse (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2518749020103323144ZdKpDn?vhost=good-times). Our wonderful waiter David knew that we were celebrating Dad’s birthday and brought his mousse out with a candle (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2055544470103323144RIKXMk?vhost=good-times). We happened to be sitting next to a table of singers and David got them to help as we all sang Happy Birthday. The desserts were all very good, with the mousse being everyone’s favorite. After a wonderful dinner we rode The Seas with Nemo and Friends and Soarin’ before calling it an early night. We knew that we would be up for park opening the next morning and the MK would not be closing until 3 am due to EMH which we intended to take advantage of. We needed all the sleep we could get!
Next Up: MK, EPCOT, and more MK!
