CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Me - early 30's , making her 4th trip to Vegas
DSIS - my sister, belatedly celebrating her 21st b-day and the inspiration for the trip
DSBF - my sister’s boyfriend, also recently turned 21, making his first trip via plane
DSM - my stepmother (and sister’s mom), early 50's, hasn’t been to Vegas in 10 years

Our last day in Vegas :(. After breakfast at the Buffet, we walked over to New York-New York, where DSIS and DSBF rode the roller coaster. They were doing construction in the middle of the casino and it was LOUD! We actually left because the noise was unbearable. Next was a quick peek at Excalibur, then the tram to Mandalay Bay. This is one of my favorite hotels, the smell alone is intoxicating! Found slots based on a computer game that DSIS and DSBF play online, so they helped us (and a nearby player) with the bonuses. Machines were hitting! We tried to get a peek at the pool area but it is blocked off. Still we walked around outside and took some pictures.

Back to the hotel where DSIS was now feeling a bit ill, so she and DSBF took a nap while DSM and I had lunch at the food court and went to the pool. Much more crowded today (we later found out a big convention was hitting Vegas the next week and people were probably already arriving), but finally found a good spot. DSIS and DSBF joined us later for about ½ hour.

We had tickets to the Anthony Cools hypnotism show at Paris, so we decided to eat at the Le Village Buffet. We had heard good things about it but mostly we were disappointed. The food was so-so, and one of the things I love about a buffet is variety. It was very heavily French. Plus we waited 45 minutes for a table when half the restaurant was empty. Oh well.

The Anthony Cools show was fun, but it is definitely R-rated! None of us volunteered to be hypnotized but those who did were hysterical. Plus Anthony Cools is a good host, very funny and sociable.

After the show DSIS was not feeling well, and upset about being sick her last night in Vegas. We got her a seat and a ginger ale and she bounced back. We played at Paris, then headed over to Bellagio. The fountain shows were over for the night but we walked through the hotel to the lobby, with its glass flower ceiling, and to the Conservatory. The exhibits here change with the season, and this time it was a salute to the American West. They had a mini-Mount Rushmore, several trains (including a life-size one made of shrubbery), a birds nest with animatronic baby eagles, and a scale replica of the Bellagio complete with fountains. It was all amazing! Be sure to check this out if you are headed to Vegas.

After playing in Bellagio for a while, we went back to our hotel. At 4am (!!) we decided it was time to head to bed.

It's always sad when the trip has to end.
