........Pogo's place.

Pogo's had some rain problems and things are behind schedule on the resort project, so lets all pile out and help get it straightened up.

Who brought the sledge hammers?

You rang? I'm not sure about sledgehammers but I think we have some powertools somewhere.

I could supply coffe though.

Perfect!! I've got a wheelbarrow and shovels, maybe Dan can get a cement truck.... oh, and of course --- I've got the rum!!! :D :clappy: :D

(What else could we possibly need??)

Mornin', everyone!!

I've got two little girls who can be fairly destructive... although I'm sure it's not in the way you need. They can turn a clean house upside down in 20 minutes flat. :D

It was a restless night at our house... my DD5 slept with me because of the thunderstorms... and then my DD3 woke up at 6am and whined for 20 minutes.

On another note, we found out who my DD5's teacher is going to be for kindergarten! I can't believe in a matter of weeks she'll be going to school.

Blythe -- rum? This early in the morning? ;)

OOOHH!! Carol & I can bring scissors and glue sticks, and she can bring her sewing machine too (Just volunteering you Carol!) I figure that can all be good for something, wallpapering, making curtains.....

Yes, my boys would be great for demo too;) Brandon starts Kindergarten in Sept as well, time flies!

Well, I am having lunch with friends today - just me, no kids - they will be with Grandma. Oh how I am looking forward to getting out!

Now, whats for breakfast everyone, beside Blythe bringing the rum? I've heard of a liquid lunch, but a liquid breakfast?! I have some leftover toast crusts.

Yay! A new thread! I gave up on the last one, so I'll attempt to keep up (better, at least) with this one. Did anyone notice I was missing from the last thread?

See?? What did I say in the last thread? I told you you guys would have a new thread by the time I got back! Oh well... guess I'm just behind.

But just in time to help out with the redesign.

As the house architect, I will be the keeper of the plans and the bar. Blythe, give me the rum honey, I'll make sure it stays safe and out of harms way.

So who needs a drink? And where are we starting?

Isn't it amazing what two little persons can do to a house?? I pretty much give up my house to the mess for the summer... and it's worse this year, as we've had so little "get out of the house for the beach/park, etc." weather!! They do have to periodically pick it all up, but boy oh boy -- does it look they never did it in no time flat!!

I remember that feeling... time just goes by too fast!! We're still waiting for our lists... but we still went & got school supplies yesterday, as I hate trying to do it at the last minute when everything's gone.

Is it every too early for rum?? Remember who I'm married to.... :pirate:

WHAT ?????????
Wow... shortest post ever. Are you speechless? (or just scared?? :hide:)

Have fun!!

Now, who mentioned rum for breakfast? I didn't... I just said I'd bring it. What do you normally have in the morning???

Yay! A new thread! I gave up on the last one, so I'll attempt to keep up (better, at least) with this one. Did anyone notice I was missing from the last thread?
We absolutely did -- glad to see you're back with us!!

You've got to know Blythe to love her..... yes she has a drinking problem.... I've witnesses it first hand. (so does Kate)

They've both had to call in sick because of it !

:fresh: And I'll be the first to admit it, I do have a drinking problem... mostly, it's coffee... WAY too much of that stuff... then it's water... sends me running more often than I'd like... not much of a soda person, honestly, but next in line I guess it'd be :marg: and the "fun" stuff... yup, if it's liquid, I'll drink it!! ;)

Not!!

Never too early for the rum. :D

Hi guys and gals! Woohoo...it's FRIDAY - it's 8/8/08 andddd we have a new thread - are we ready to party?

Of course - we missed ya! Welcome back. Sometimes it's so hard to keep up so I totally understand getting lost on the other ones!

I've got trays of cupcakes to keep everyone's tummies full during this extreme demolition. Vanilla with chocolate frosting and rainbow jimmies. Help yourselves!

Not to mix, though, right?? not sure that sounds too good...

It's raining here, too... very hard right now!! It's so dark around here you'd think it was evening-time already. But - we're making the most of it - I've got lots of candles lit, the girls are cozied up watching one of my VERY favorite movies (Ever After) so it creates great backround "noise" for me... and we're making cookies afterwards... lobster shaped sugar cookies. Anyone want some when they're done???

And only 122 days 'til our trip -- but who's counting???

And a note to Jym from the last thread -- Alex's pictures are TOO cute... I can't decide who he looks more like!! Post more, please!!

ZOOOPPP.. hi all. Sorry, won't be able to help demolish Pogo's resort... we're in our busiest time at work.. the dreaded start of school season! It's been heck around here with fixing bids and 'reeducating' the cafeteria managers who seem to forget everything over the summer. So I won't be able to play with you guys for a while. On top of that we have the chicken recall and a resource nutrition drink recall...AND my supervisor finagled our VP into letting her take a vacation next week (no vacations are suppossed to be allowed from the week before schools start thru October).. so my stress level is high. Things personally aren't the best either. You guys play nice. Try not to destroy Pogo's resort too badly.
Gotta zoop.. did I mention how much I hate this time of year?

i'm so glad all your dreams are coming true. but in moving your resort, you have incurred a few traffic violations. hauling an oversized load without a license, exceeded the warp speed for this solar system. don't you know that earth is just one big speed trap- you've gotta go the speed limit. and the last violation- you haven't invited us down to florida to move into your compound :nono: how can we be taken seriously as the cult of pogo unless we live in your compound?

Anybody want a lobster cookie??

TikiGoddess
08-08-2008, 07:40 PM
Blythe, I'll take a lobster cookie, pass them over here. They'll go well with the Grand Marnier I'm sipping. (all this talk about alcohol got me thinking about it... so if I end up a drinker like you all, I'll know who to blame) :D

What a rough day. I'm BEAT. Rainforest Cafe was fine and all, but it's the end of a very long two weeks. My hubby has been away in Minnesota taking a music ed course and I've been home by myself with the girls. He's finally coming home tomorrow!!! Thank goodness he's coming home because I'm ready to sell off DD3. Anyone want a cute blondie who likes to say "no" to her mother? :D

Pogo, if your place is going to have a Tiki bar, I'm there. Right up my alley. :tikki:

Bethany, good to see you! I am attempting to keep up with the insanity that is the JQ thread (no one's kicked me off yet, so I guess that's a good sign). I must admit, it's nice to know there will be something to read from nice people when I turn my computer on...

Oh WOW, a new thread, and I'm in on the ground floor. Is this exciting, or what? I might even be able to keep up for a few days. My mom leaves for Ohio on Tues., and I'll be staying at DD's house with four dogs that are even more neurotic than mine.

Pogo, with all the rain back there, I think you should just float the whole thing down South. I could give up SOG in Dec. :D

Everybody in the East try and stay dry, I'ts hot, humid, and sunny in Az., but we might get a storm later. Think I'll medicate the Chow now.

I'm looking at 121 days until we chow down on Possum. (It IS on the menu, isn't it)?

Catch you later. Zooping out !:D

So, I just put the word "wine" into the search engine, and got 20 pages worth of posts, 20 per page. That's 400 posts, right? Well, at least half of each page were all JQ posts... that's pretty scarey!! :funny: I'm a little bit worried about the wine & rum stock at WDW this December...

Nope... we're headed to the outlet malls the week after next when they have all their "no tax" sales. Hoping to avoid the mall except for the "little stuff". (Is there really any little stuff when it comes to school shopping?? :eyes:)

Yeah!! Isn't it great to get them?? I can't wait!!

Well, it looks like the postpartum floor won the battle... not sure if I should be happy or not!

Kate, I really did like the season finale, even if it did mean that we won't have a new season for two years. :( My favorite part was when everyone was in the Tardis getting it revved up for the trip.

Anyone else watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics? What a show!

Yes!! It was astounding! I was totally impressed with the amount of precision and the amazing ways they used technology throughout the portion that precedes the Parade of Nations.

What was your favorite part? I especially liked the drummers at the beginning, but I also liked the part where they were painting that big picture thing, and....wait...I think I liked it all. The finale was awesome too!

yeah, two years is a long time. my favorite part was when rose kissed her doctor. been waiting for that for years.

politics aside, i love the olympics. i am a junkie getting a fix. i will watch sports during the olympics that i never watch anytime else. my favorites are diving, swimming, gymnastics and (best for last) equestrian. we are lucky enough in syracuse to have one of the premiere show jumping shows in nov every year. its so cool to see olympic athletes up close. and because Beezie Madden is from cazenovia(just down the road from syracuse)- we are routing her on for gold.

ok, i really am a junkie. please excuse the babling for the next few weeks.

oh and the opening ceremony- loved the sychronized drummers.

was there a question in all that?

Absolutely, that was no joke, what a wonderful show! The drummers were incredible, the people in the green light up costumes were incredible. I didn't realize there were so many countries in this world!! :D

Blythe, you still up? I can't believe I am. I came home today and cleaned my whole house and I'm beat!

If you can spare a little pixie dust, Mike's having a terrible time at work right now. His boss is really trying to take advantage of his hard work on top of trying to pay him less. I'd sure appreciate any good thoughts you can send this way!

:hi: Hi Blythe! How's your night going?

We just finished watching the opening of the Olympics. Unlike the others, I wasn't as impressed - except for the ending. I love watching all the nations come in. Wow there are alot of countries I've never heard of!

Well, off to dream land. Could someone please save some coffee for me?

I agree with everyone about the opening show for the olympics - WIW !!!:jaw: Wasn't that amazing?

I'd love to try and find the one from 1960, when Walt Disney was in charge of the pagentry.

Not much time this morning for coffee and cookies. I'll get the coffee on the way to my class, and eat pretzels in the car. I'm taking a leave of absence from this Sat. class, as it's 45 mi. away, and about the only way to buy some time for myself. Today, and next Sat. will be it for awhile. In two weeks, I'll make home made cinnamon rolls, and hot chocolate, (if it's under 100 degrees here). If it's still hot, we'll have saurkraut and root beer.

Zooping out until later today. Hope you can get back to work on your resort Pogo. Also, I need to talk to you "scrappers" later about a memorial book I want to do about my mother.

Bye for now.

Well I'm up but not willingly, so sleepy. I'm getting ready to head out to a mobile animal adoption at a grocery store accross town. Keep your fingers crossed that a lot of babies find new homes today! :puppy:

It rained like crazy here last night. Some parts of the city got two inches of rain in less than an hour, it was pretty crazy. Mike said his drive home was like driving home through a lake, thanks goodness he has the big truck!

Hope you all have a splendid morning, I'll check in and let you know how the adoptions went. to all!

I hope everyone had a good night. I haven't read back through everything because my computer is unreasonably slow this morning (that's ok, it matches everything else that's gone on in the last couple of days :shake:) Anyway...
Jym, I checked out those pics of the baby the other day, he is way too cute! You and Rachel done good!
pogo, how's the remodel going?
Sarah, :pixie: for Mikes job and for the babies finding homes today.

Nobody bothered to show or call to visit with Carter yet again, the family is 3 for 3 and the bio dad is 2 for 3 so it looks more and more like the rights and responsibilties hearing will be much easier. Oh well... I'm not quite myself today so I'm going to try to get some more planning for my birthday trip (30 days 7 hours etc.:yay:) done in hopes that it brings out the true me. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL day and a safe and fun weekend. Take care everyone... to all.

My request for the remodel... can we get a Dole Whip dispenser installed near the Tiki Bar?
That's a great idea... I'll work on it.

i'm sensing a restraining order in my future. i must keep 5 posts between me and pogo.

:funny:

Rough life... did you stay dry???

Sure, sure... one relocation offer and the rest of us become chopped liver.
Nope..... got to the course and it started raining again..... never got out of my car.

Who said you're chopped liver ??? You are more like a rum ball ! :D

Pogo, if your place is going to have a Tiki bar, I'm there. Right up my alley.

Sounds good as long as you realize I'm already married to a Goddess !

Pogo, with all the rain back there, I think you should just float the whole thing down South. I could give up SOG in Dec.

I'm looking at 121 days until we chow down on Possum. (It IS on the menu, isn't it)?

Sounds good..... do we have a barge we can load it on ??

Possum is only on the menu at Wolfgangs if Jym is with you. :D

Note to self, check to see if the building is being demolished BEFORE you enter the bathroom!
pogo, was that you with the wrecking ball????
It wasn't me..... probably Caroleh or Flower.

Could somebody please check our ADR's again??? I'm a little nervous now.
We are working on them this weekend. We will post the correct ones on facebook as soon as we recover them.

We might need to expand the pool if we are all going to fit...and definitely expand the Tiki Bar.

I think the pool and tiki bar are just fine. Blythe... do you think we'd all fit in the pool ??

When are you going in December? (And why do I not know this?)

I guess I just can't keep everybody's trips straight. I suppose it's a good thing I'm not a travel agent...although, if I was, I suppose I would have everything written down and organized.
All that info is posted on facebook.

Nat, are we sharing a brain today? I was kinda wondering what a lobster cookie was but guessed that it's a sugar cookie in the shape of a lobster. Am I right???

I agree with you about the show. The fireworks were amazing (those footprints making their way to the stadium), the drummers were amazing, the tai chi was amazing, the painting was amazing, the tiles were amazing, the guys in the green light suits were amazing, the globe with the dancers on it was amazing, the little girl flying was amazing, but when they lifted that last guy with the torch in the air: that was mind-blowing! I don't think I've said "wow" out loud as much as I did last night in a really, really long time. I tend to find the parade of nations a snoozer though.

Same here Ellen, in regards to drinking, just not much of a drink. I'll take a :marg: ever so often, but seriously I can't remember the last time I had a drink.

So seriously what are Lobster cookies? Sorry but they don't sound too great. I had a lobster sandwich in the Cape at McDonald's once and man that was terrible. On a hot dog bun no less. Made me not thrilled to have one again. Don't they have them at AA in Epcot during Food & Wine Festival? Okay got a little off track.

Hi Blythe! How's your night going?

Could someone please save some coffee for me?
It was good! Went by pretty quickly, couldn't ask for much more than that!! I'd be REALLY thrilled if I'd left my schedule alone, as I'd taken vacation days next week and wouldn't have to go back 'til Saturday... but I decided to pick up 2 8hr night shifts to help out, so I'm back on Wed. Sigh... I shouldn't complain, though -- if they bring me in, the extra vacation $$ for our Maine trip will be nice..... :)

I've got some coffee, but it's probably a little late in the day for most of you... well, maybe not for you, though, as it's only 12:30 out there!! Hard to remember that sometimes...

Also, I need to talk to you "scrappers" later about a memorial book I want to do about my mother.

You rang??

Traci, at least their true side is showing and it will save a lot of pain for Carter & Hailey later on. I can't imagine how rough it is to watch happen, though.... sometimes you just want to shake some sense into people...

I hope the planning is helping... it always brings me around when I'm feeling down!! Funny how Disney helps in so many ways other than just when you're there...

I'm sad I missed the show... from the sounds of it, it's something I'm definitely going to want to find a repeat of!! Dan loved it, thought it was amazing.

I TOTALLY agree.... like Cindy said, there are countries out there I never even knew existed!!!

Probably... Dan is out hitting those little white balls all over the greens, so maybe just some hot dogs & coneys when he gets home... and some ....

So the nephew is home now. A happy homecoming, but definitely overshadowed by the events in CA. Not sure if or when he is headed back.

That's great news.... hopefully he'll be able to stay home, safe & sound for awhile. Probably hard for the firemen to do, though, when they hear of their fellow guys struggling... we have a friend who was a volunteer f'man and the "bond" he'd talk about b/w the men was pretty amazing.

I'd love to!! What are you calling it??

Good news though as soon as we get the insurance check I can get a new 32 flat screen.
So, how & where do I aim that lightening??? Might as well put it to some good use, we've had so much of it....

So, how's Saturday treating everyone? It's pretty good around here, the girls are riding their bikes and Julia has somehow perfected the trick of giving Emma a ride on the back bumper of hers... hopefully we won't have an ER trip in our future... soon we'll be frosting those cookies, and Dan & I may rent a movie for this evening. How's the afternoon treating everyone? It appears as if it might rain here AGAIN...geez. batten down the hatches.

I just got back from the mobile adoptions. Only one adopted why I was there. Lots of cuties though, they brought a lot of puppies/kittens. Puppies are cute but too much work for me. The three fosters I had almost killed me! Really sweet yellow lab, pure bred, 9 years old, his owner died. We should have a full house tonight for the show.

Looks like I might start flying solo by this time next year. My law partner announced to me yesterday that he's seriously considering retirement,as he'll be 65 in January. (And you were scared that DW was leaving me, werent' you?) His annoucnement was a bit of a shock because I thought he'd keep going for quite a while. Kind of a scary thought after all these years working as a firm, but there are a lot of ideas I'd like to put into play that I couldn't really do before. its a beautiful day in the neighborhood. i changed the oil in the lawn mower. we cut both the front and back lawns. we also pulled up half the stumps we need to get rid of. could have pulled them all, but i didn't buy enough top soil to fill the holes.
i am really getting the urge to paint. but first i need to take down wallpaper in the bedroom(only one wall). anyone have any good tips for that? i've never done it before. i really need to paint the bedroom soon, and get a blackout shade for the window. working night shift means i need a dark room during the day to sleep. and this room is not dark. not making my sleep very happy. going shopping to home depot tomorrow. i swear i've been there 10 times since we bought this house. oh well, everyone needs a hobby.

i think i will pry my husband off the couch and go for a walk before dinner. first day in weeks it hasnt rained. have a good night all. i will be plopped in front of tv watching oylmpics.

The lobster cookie cutter was tied to the handle... it's great!! Kind-of hard to get the dough to the cookie sheet w/o ruining the lobster, but we managed! i really need to paint the bedroom soon, and get a blackout shade for the window. working night shift means i need a dark room during the day to sleep. and this room is not dark. not making my sleep very happy.

going shopping to home depot tomorrow. i swear i've been there 10 times since we bought this house. oh well, everyone needs a hobby.

i will be plopped in front of tv watching oylmpics.

Hey!! I was wondering where you were, and poof - I post, and there you are!!

Are you sure you're watching the Olympics, and not Mr. Rogers?? :D

You can borrow my wallpaper-removal stuff, if you'd like -- you might just need the liquid that goes with it. It's pretty easy... esp. for just one wall. You're lucky!!

Have you tried those eye-covers 'til you get the shades? Works wonders, and they've got some pretty "cool" ones... my girls keep wanting to steal mine, as they're pink & black leopard print... :funny: ... (what can I say? $1.99 at Target...)

Gotta love HD and Lowe's... I felt like we should've owned stock there a few years ago. Heading down that path again soon, I think...

I think we might watch "The Bucket List"... we'll see...

... okay, gotta run now...

I'll come and help with the bottling. Since I'm a teetoter right now, I promise I won't even sample. Can you supply me with some root  though? And a curious mind wonders, where do you get the bottles and corks? Want me to design labels for you? How about we all come up with a name for your product, or have you aready done so?
We got bottles and corks, and everything else, at a wine/beer making shop. Who knew? I go in there and don't know what half of the stuff is, but the people are real nice and know everything! The wine kit (i.e. grape juice, etc.) came with labels, or we may make our own - or they have numerous ones for sale that you can personalize.
The wine is an Australian Riesling. We haven't thought of a name for our "winery" yet.

I wasn't asking YOU when I was going in December, I was asking TINK&GOOFY when SHE was going in December.
We will be in WDW Dec 11-15 (actually leaving on the 10th on a red eye). I can't wait!!

There'll be a ton of things to do to get a solo practice up and running.
Kind of a scary and exciting time all in one! Good luck with this transition!

Still have too much prep to do before we can actually bottle, so looks like it will be tomorrow. Anyone want to come help sterilize stuff?

Cool...is your whole family going or just you and DH? I can't remember.

Good luck with the red eye. The last two times I've flown west to east on a red eye it was a disaster in terms of jet lag. My mother insists it's easier to fly west to east, I insist it's easier to fly east to west (regarding the time change...not the actual flight...west to east is typically shorter by around an hour!)

See?? Lobster cookies!! (http://picasaweb.google.com/Blytheny/LobsterCookies/photo#5232632997034106770) :D (Where's a lobster smilie when you need one???)

I'm hoping to need a second one -- -- guess we'll have to see where we're at vacation planning-wise by next October!! (That's the last "planned" trip, even though my AP won't run out 'til December. Can you say excuse to travel?? ;))

Love the cookies, they are cute. :crab: He's sorta close, at least in the same family right?

I'm getting 4 trips out of this AP this year alone. And it doesn't expire until March 2009, so you never know what might happen next year. :fingers:

Hey T&G do you live close to Beaverton? My friend's nephew is playing in the Little League World Series, and they are from Beaverton. I guess they have to win this one first then to the World Series.

Hey -- nice of you to finally show up for the night shift!! Where've you been?? You'd think you have a new baby taking up all of your time!! (Wait... don't tell me he sleeps through the night already... that just wouldn't be fair... so where are you during those feedings, eh??) :D (Glad to see you... :))He sleeps a couple to three hours at a time, then wants to eat. He's taken 120ml a couple of times and is growing like crazy.

I haven't posted much lately but I've been lurking; it seems like there's always something to do. Anyone wanna come wash some baby clothes?

Just a sugar cookie shaped like a lobster... they're ready & waiting to be frosted bright red this afternoon....

Probably... Dan is out hitting those little white balls all over the greens, so maybe just some hot dogs & coneys when he gets home... and some ....
The cookies are adorable. Was there some special occasion for making them?

It always makes me giggle a bit when you guys call hot dogs "coneys." If you've ever seen and experienced the real Coney Island in all of its glory, I don't think you'd necessarily want to eat something by the same name. :fresh:

Kind-of hard to get the dough to the cookie sheet w/o ruining the lobster, but we managed! We actually made about 5 more, but the girls are eating a few...
How about you cut them (gently) on the cookie sheet and then pull off the extra dough? Would that work? Or cut them on a piece of harder plastic and then slide them off?

Ohh I have a chicken soup recipe I've been wanting to try. (it's called noodle soup for needy people not that your needy it's just meant to imply one is need of comfort) by Nigella. It has lots of good for you veggies in it too. Want some?

We had a good time in Detroit (aside from road closure detours through a town who's own mayor is in Jail!). I found shoes (shocking huh?) but also some really neat purses on sale. Plus some shorts and casual stuff for December. I still need a couple of pairs of shoes though. (how sad is it that I tried to make DH think that Coach shoes are a good idea even at 89 dollars?) I have to scoot over there without him one day.

Nope... just wanted something fun to do w/ the girls, and I had this new cookie cutter... just about all the incentive I needed! I love making cookies!! (What a wonder that I ended up here, eh?? :D)

Now, I never realized a "coney" was it's own entity... we call a certain Hoffmann hot dog a coney b/c it's not a true hot dog - it's spicy and white and made with pork and honestly, I don't know what else... ... but I love them. What is a real coney??

I'm sorry you're not feeling well... is it from Thursday? I hope you're better in the am.... sending you a special batch of my friend Maddie's "Jewish Chicken Soup"... not sure why it's called that, as her DH was Jewish but she wasn't... and there's nothing special to it that I'd consider to be "jewish"... but it sure it yummy, and sure to cure what ails ya!! to you, too....

Nat, how long does it take you to get there? My SiL and her family live in Northville, southwest of Detroit. We haven't been out there in a few years... do you go just for the shopping?? And how could you possibly need more shoes??? I have got to get a look in your closet... :faint:

So, one child down, one in the shower... Dan came home late from golf, so we had a late grill dinner on the porch and some smores by candlelight/tiki lights. :cloud9: And I am proud to say that my Emma is now a proud rider of a two-wheeled bike, pretty much on her own... we worked on it for awhile this evening, and I was finally able to let go -- and off she went!! Not for a super long time, but enough for her to feel that thrill and be SO happy... she's wanted to be able to for ages, and as we have a gravel driveway and a very busy construction-vehicle filled front road this summer, it's been a non-existent task at trying. But today -- we did it!! :clappy:

Hope you're all having a wonderful evening... I'll pop back in before bed!

As to the closet thing don't you mean closet S? It's about 45 minutes to the border itself then however far from downtown Detroit where we are going is. Not long really.

And these were a really cute wedge with orange and yellow which I have hardly any of. Course I now need something in lime green to go with the stuff I bought at Land's end..and the purse from TJMaxx and the one from Macy's need shoes that will work really well with them. (one is in a bone colour the other is a light olive green from Kathy Van Zeeland) Plus as long as one has floor space somewhere there is room for more shoes. It's a vital contribution to Michigan's economy which we all know needs all the help it can get right Mary?

Hope you managed to get some sleep Blythe! Ellen, I always find a good Hot and Sour soup works better than a chicken soup. Would you like me to make you one? I was experimenting with some of Chings recipies last night. Tried the schezuan orange beef and the egg fried rice. I don't think I am ever going to get it from a takeaway again - the rice mixture is so easy and so much tastier!

This morning our village church is holding a pet service. I know there are cats, dogs, horses, birds, tortoises and mice in the village. How do you think they will all get on? Rather sweetly the advert for service said if you don't have any live pets then bring a toy one. Figaro has decided that Pal Mickey will be the designated representative of our toys. He seems to think he looks least like a dog toy!

What will everyone be wearing in December, Disney clothes or Christmas clothes?

For me, it will depend on the weather. I don't own any Christmas clothes and my Disney clothes are limited to short sleeved t-shirts. So, if it's warm enough for short sleeves, I'll probably wear some Disney stuff, but if I have to wear long sleeves or sweatshirts (or coats!) it will just be regular stuff.

So last night, the crowds finally dispersed around 3 and the cops left...only for ANOTHER group from the same party to go outside and start screaming. I'm not sure if the cops came again to deal with them because I fell asleep while they were yelling. At least I didn't have to be anywhere early this morning!

Someone asked me where they can find Wall-e he was reported to be somewhere picking up trash, in the Magic Kingdom? I didn't know the answer to that question, any ideas?

The Jammitors (sp?) are in Epcot, usually in the Test Track area. They perform on trash cans. But Wall-E picking up trash? I don't know anything about that but if he does, it's probably something new and cool.

What is everybody doing today?

:) Your welcome... I'm glad my stories make you smile. I dearly love being their mom... but I have to tell you, there are moments when, well.... I just have to deep breathe and remember the cuter times....

I have no clue... it's the first time I've prepared for a trip that I have no idea what to expect weather-wise, and it's frustrating me! Seeing as we won't know the temps 'til the week before, I'm just pretty much planning on mid-70's, which for us is short sleeves & capris... that being said, it'll be a mix of Disney & regular stuff. I've gotten a few Disney t-shirts in red & green and I'm making a few "Christmasy" Disney ones on Zazzle... but otherwise, probably just tropical colors and capris...

What is everybody doing today?

If you have two spare bedrooms, why don't you just make one of them a shoe room? You could set it up like a nice shoe department, with shoe racks lining the walls and then tables in the middle area with your best shoes on display.

Okay, I'm just ZOOPing in... it's been a crazy busy weekend. My DH is finally home after his 2 week course (he was taking something call "Orff Level 3", which is a very high level music education course, based on the teaching of Carl Orff). He's tired as it was an intense course, so I'm trying to keep the girls busy while he rests. He also blew out his knee a couple weeks ago and it hasn't gotten better.

My brother also came yesterday and we all went to the CT shore -- near Niantic -- for the first time! It was awesome. The girls and their cousins (also 3 and 5) had a fantastic time in the waves. Brother, wife, and cousins slept over last night and the kids played together all morning until they left around lunchtime. Now it's catchup time -- laundry, groceries, and cleaning the sand out of my husband's new car. (oops)

Blythe, those cookies look awesome! I am working on a cake for our summer party on Saturday... will post pics when it's done.

I think I was there at the same time! We went in December 2000, and I got in a few days after my parents (I was taking finals at college). We were at the Oakland Mall (I haven't done the birch run thing yet is it worth it? We've gone to Great Lakes and it was pretty good but I missed my Macy's fix)

Haven't been to Oakland Mall in a super long time, when I lived in Rochester Hills, but then we'd go over to Lakeside instead of Oakland.

I like Birch Run, I think that it's better than Great Lakes. I don't like the way that Great Lakes is laid out. The only good thing about Great Lakes is Rainforest Cafe. :tasty: But they don't have Macy's at Birch Run either.

So we just got our power back on. Some guy fell asleep at the wheel last night and took out 2 high tension power lines. (He was okay I heard) That was midnight, and 15 hours later we have power. Man is it quiet in the condo with no power or what? So I can now surf the web and watch tv. Life's Good. :D

This is rather funny too. The water man came around this morning saying to please not use water either as they had to use a generator. He said that if everyone conserves then we should be fine, because "we can't make more water."

Ohh I like the way you think. Do you suppose since my brother normally ends up sleeping with his boy's anyway he'd care if I just threw a sleeping bag under the display's for him? The one I'm thinking of is the "other" tv room wouldn't it just be like a waiting room outside the change areas then? HMM now where does one find shoe racks?

I remember not being prepared for the cold we experienced!
Aout packing- I usually start early , but this would be too early , even for me!
Stores are beginning to get their fall/winter and even some Christms merchandise, so it is getting me in the mood!!

Of course, I'm always in the mood to go to Disney! :mickey: Isn't everyone? :D

Yes, I'm in the mood to go. A glimmer of an idea flashed through my head last night when I was dealing with all the nonsense my neighbors were dishing out to book a trip for this week, but that thought passed when I remembered the bills. I'm still in school for my masters (one more term!) but I'm already planning to get a second masters after I'm done with this one. (Not right away though!) This masters is in Teaching English as a Second Language and I'm thinking about doing Literacy for the next. I figure they would complement each other nicely, and for each masters you get (up to 2) you go up about $6k/year on the pay schedule above what you'd get otherwise, so it pays for itself in about 2 years.

And for the cold back in 2000, I got lucky because my mom is always watching the weather reports and I left after her so she had called me and told me to bring stuff for the cold before I left home! :D That was also the trip I almost missed my connection in Atlanta (first flight was 2 hours late!) and RAN from one end of the airport to the other and made it only because the second flight was also leaving a bit late!

What stores are already getting Christmas merchandise? I want to decorate my window this trip I think.

Is Lakeside better? I'll have to look that one up. Oakland's proximity to I-75 has always won us over.

Probably not, plus it would be about another hour for you. Another good mall would be in Dearborn, that wouldn't be too far out of your way. I think that it's called Fairlane Towne Center. Plus then you are close to Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, if you want to make a day or two of it.

Have you been to The Somerset Collection in Troy? Talk about fancy, my dad use to shop at Neiman Marcus all the time, plus they have a Macy's. It's only like 4 or 5 miles from Oakland Mall.

I'm looking forward to seeing and feeling WDW in December. Haven't been to WDW in the cold weather since 2002 when we went in January. What's the temperature like this time of year?

Ellen, do you have a juicer?
Yes, as a matter of fact, I have two! Would someone like one? Why do you ask?

WE were there about 8 or 9 years ago at Christmas. The first day there the weather was warm enough to swim in. The rest of the week not. We needed hats and mittens at night. I wll probably take some long sleeved tees and one or two sweat suit jackets, a hat and gloves just in case it is cold at night.:D

I think I was there at the same time! We went in December 2000, and I got in a few days after my parents. When they first got there, it was in the 80s or so, but by the time I got there the temp had fallen A LOT.
We were there Thanksgiving week 2000. The first two days were nice... the rest were FREEZING (the Florida growers had the trees in their protective gear and had the smoke machines going). However, the worst was Thanksgiving Week 2006. It SNOWED in Orlando... not just Disney snow. Mother Nature snow! :faint: It was warmer here in NYC than it was in Orlando. :nono: Now I make sure we have a nice mix of clothes when we travel in the winter.

So any good ideas for a movie tonight? I'm thinking Mulan maybe?
Mulan is such a good movie! Have you seen Mulan II? We haven't but I'd like to. I rented Close Encounters of the Third Kind. One of my all-time favorite movies and Ben has never seen it. Do you think he'll like it?

 anyone miss me? I was tied to my sewing machine. Reality set in when I was looking at my countdown clock and it said I was down to 60 days till my October trip. I have seminar before that and I still hadn't started my tablerunner, accessories and semi formal yet. :scared:So yesterday at work I got a tablerunner designed, and my dress cut out. Today I almost finished a purse(it still needs something, but I don't know what) and got the tablerunner started.

Nat, I need help with shoes for my dress, it's a rusty colour with a black undertone. I only have black shoes, my runners,my crocs and my flats.

I ordered my tickets for La Nouba today for Dec. 11!! We haven't seen Cirque before and we're excited to see it. Now we need to figure out a place to eat before the show. I'm having trouble getting excited for the December trip, but I think that's because we're doing the October trip. I wish they'd hurry up and have something new posted about tth F&WF. I'd like to do something more with that.

Last year when we went it was nice for the first few days, then it was cold. I either wore long sleeve shirt or my jean jacket. The night we went to MVMCP, I ended uo buying a hoodie to go under my jean jacket because I was freezing to death...thank goodness for the free hot chocolate, because it helped warm me up.

What will everyone be wearing in December, Disney clothes or Christmas clothes?
How 'bout Disney Christmas clothes? :D

Sounds like I'll have to pack everything. Won't DH be pleased! :D

So we just got our power back on. Some guy fell asleep at the wheel last night and took out 2 high tension power lines. (He was okay I heard) That was midnight, and 15 hours later we have power.
This is rather funny too. The water man came around this morning saying to please not use water either as they had to use a generator. He said that if everyone conserves then we should be fine, because "we can't make more water."
We lose our water sometimes when our power goes out, because we live on the top of the hill, about 1/4 from the water holding tank - but we are ABOVE it, and they have to use a pump to get it to us. Seems like alot of times their back up generators don't kick in automatically. Fortunately, we haven't been left without power for an extended period of time.

So we never got the bottling done. Sunday's are just too busy! Picked up DD13 from a sleepover at a friends house. She doesn't have alot of close friends, and this one has become very special. I am so excited for her. They have so many of the same interests, and I found out she is slightly delayed - just like DD. It was wonderful to talk with the mom - who totally "gets" it! No explanation is needed. She had a wonderful time, and that just warmed my heart!

What will everyone be wearing in December, Disney clothes or Christmas clothes?
I think pretty much summer clothes, whatever that happens to be. I really hope the weather is nice, we are so looking forward to spending some time in Stormalong Bay!

Oakland Mall was our only choice when I lived in Royal Oak. Last time I was there it was pretty weak, was looking like people were moving out. I love Birch Run and Great Lakes Crossing, both of them are favorites. When we were teenagers we used to make a run up to Birch Run and stop at Tonys. I think they had an all you could eat nacho or something silly like that, but when we were young that was the BOMB!!

YOU have Disney crocs?? :eyes::jaw:

I have Mickey Crocs, love them. Mine are kids shoes, but that works out ok since I have little feet. The only thing that stinks though is that you can't put the Disney jibbitz in them because with Mickey's ears in the holes, the backs slide right through. What I should have gotten in a red and black pair with regular holes and then put jibbitz in them. Oh well.

SO, how is the day treating everyone? We spent all day putting the dog door in. There was electrical stuff involved, we had to call in a friend of ours, took all day. Mike did most of the work and he did a wonderful job. Nala has already found her way through it but the other two are looking at it like we're crazy. Minnie has already been nosing in that direction so I've been squirting her with water when she gets close. She needs to be afraid of the door....VERY afraid!! :D

Hope things are going well, I'll try to check in later, we got a bunch of things to do still.

Weirdly Blythe I'm making blueberry pie. Must be the time of year. (and keep in mind Blythe we have two spare bedrooms and Matt doesn't work in a field that requires closet space for his stuff so he has a wee part of one of the spare bedrooms then I have the rest of that one and the one downstairs..and of course a few shoe racks to triple the space useage)

So, how'd the pie turn out? I'm thinking of putting some frozen blueberries on my icecream in a few minutes... plus we've had a blueberry candle burning (which we often do when we're at the house we rent in Maine, so it smells just like that around here... :cloud9:)

Wow -- great closet space! You'd cry if you saw my closet in this house.... let 's just say we went from a walk in to, well, it's still a walk-in, but there's really nowhere to go...

My brother also came yesterday and we all went to the CT shore -- near Niantic -- for the first time! It was awesome. The girls and their cousins (also 3 and 5) had a fantastic time in the waves.
I can't wait to get to the ocean... only 11 days to go!!! Glad to hear you guys had so much fun -- I miss being that close. :(

i had trouble falling asleep last night. i was tired around 10pm and pushed myself to stay awake until midnight for the olympics. and then i'm not tired. my body thought i was working. i had to take some benadryl to fall asleep around 2am. and i couldn't drag my butt out of bed this morning if you paid me.

Sound familiar... I only slept about 5 1/2 hrs yesterday, and did the same as you - pushed to stay up, and then my body went into work mode. So there I was at 1am, still wide awake... only it was Nyquil that finally helped me fall asleep. Must be why we were still in bed later than usualy this morning... felt good, though!!

Of course, I'm always in the mood to go to Disney! Isn't everyone? :D

That is so great... isn't it awesome when things come together like that? Glad to hear she had such a fun time!!

Well, today was a busy yet fun & relaxing day... Emma rode her bike most of the day, and mastered the art of turning and stopping w/o falling and even getting herself started on her own... by this evening, she was riding through gravel and grass and pretty much tearing it up!! Yipes!! The rain held off until about a 1/2 hr. ago, so Dan & I were able to get lawn, yardwork and windows done... phew! Felt good to get some of that out of the way... the rain has kept us from being able to do anything for what feels like ages!! It's drippy and cool outside now, but I don't mind... I've got the candles lit again, some smokey incense burning and the tiki lights on on the porch, and I think I'm going to go curl up with my book. Catch you guys later!!

The seminar is for work so we have to wear the semi formal for an evening event they have planned. The table runner has to be creative, so I'm making it look like stained glass. We vote on who has the most creative and the top three win a prize(gift certificates for our company). Two years ago I did a purse that took 3rd place out of 87 stores, which is remarkable in it's own, but we are the smallest store in the corporation and we don't receive all the cool stuff the bigger stores get.

The last thing for competition is to creatively accessories an outfit your wearing for one of the days. I'm making another purse, that is going to super cool(I like it and that's what really counts, right?). The accessories are suppose to be like hats(which I do not do because I look WAY too dorky..no comment, Pogo!!), jewelry, scarves, purses, etc.... It's hard to do jewelry out of anything I have in the store. Some of the stores carry beads so they could use those(as of last week, we no longer are suppose to use that company), we never got them, so that set me back. I'm thinking about making a cell phone holder and an iPod holder to hang on the purse I'm making. We can only use things that we sell. Any ideas what else I can do for the creative accessories?

Hmmm....that is tough. Maybe something with ribbons or fun buttons? In girl scouts we made beads by rolling long narrow triangles so we started with the wide part and the point would be in the middle. (Hard to describe but easy to do). Maybe you could make those "beads" out of narrow fabric strips?

Did you look at all ears? they had stuff on the F & W festival. As to the shoes are you talking new or of those choices? One thought is a the new style of "fading" colours where you'd have the black fading in to rust. I've seen just that colour combo but in a 3 inch plus heel (my idea of fine and dandy but not everyones) if it's going to be a one off I'd suggest payless and an insert from the drug store. (those gel ones can make a bad shoe pretty comfy for one night)

So, how'd the pie turn out?
Wow -- great closet space! You'd cry if you saw my closet in this house.... let 's just say we went from a walk in to, well, it's still a walk-in, but there's really nowhere to go...
It's not like it's all in one room..that would be amazing. Poor William when he's done going to university are plan is to absorb his room into ours and turn over half of it in to a closet dressing room for me the balance into part of the room with the bulk of our room being turned into an ensuite. Poor Matt he only gets a corner of the room really as the ensuite would still be "my" bathroom. It's a good thing he likes my cooking. (by the way has anyone ever made the carrot ginger soup in the WDW cookbook? It was really good! So was the pie..hence the shoes.

Any ideas what else I can do for the creative accessories?

What about a scarf tyep thing? Or a shrug? Or a evening poncho? (personally the shrug would be more useful but I don't know perhaps a wrap style?) Do you have beading you could apply to the shrug or wrap? And I've always thought gloves that were embelished looked nice too. And you could theory wise personalize satin shoes using buttons. Do you sell dyes? then you could colour the shoes yourself as well.

There would still be two more bedrooms..including one that's in our finished basement with it's own bathroom etc. My best guess is he will likely switch to that room prior to college anyway. I have no problem with him moving back but I kinda doubt he will since he's likely to go away to university/college since we don't have one here in town.

I'm sure hoping so... I want to check out the new pool at CBR, and not from a distance! The last few years on our dates it did get into the 80's some days, but I'm fearful of a cool December this year with how crazy the summer has been everywhere....

WOW, I'm in awe. Wish I could sew - I get a real buzz when I go to a fabric store. I just designed a doll that I'm entering in a regional competition. She looks like I used to:(, and will be dressed in a Navy Wave uniform. The uniform is being sewn by a classmate, but I'm duplicating the insignias, hat, and purse. She will be displayed with an American flag, and my actual insignia, dog tags, and ribbons. I know how much fun it is to create. My ideas are few and far between. Yours sound like Project Runway.

Good luck, really ! May we exchange pictures?

Good morning everyone. I'm "off" in a few (no comments). Anyway, I don't have much to offer in the way of GOOD coffee, but I have some Anisette toast that's great for dunking in root:beer: How's that for a combination?

Another question. In Dec., will we be wearing name tags with our real names, and screen names? In my case, it will be simple. (Again, no comments). Anyway, is it worth a shot? Maybe even with pictures for those of us that need all the help we can get.

About what to wear. My options are usually, WHATEVER FITS!:haha:

Seriously, we go just about every Dec., and I'm O.K. during the day with jeans, and a sweater over a T-shirt. Nights, it's Eskimo gear. There are days that it's hot, and sometimes it's FREEZING with winds that can take your breath away.:freeze:

One last question. What time zone are we in? Never noticed it before, but somewhere in the world it's 4 A.M. Where is that?:mcoffee:

That's so cool -- I'm going to have to figure out how to listen to the podcasts and check yours out... I'm afraid of the ensuing addiction, though...

Maybe once Scooter sees his brothers outside having fun w/o him, he'll decide to follow?? I have no idea, really... we've never had a dog or cat door. How's the kitty doing with the fear factor???

I'm sure hoping so... I want to check out the new pool at CBR, and not from a distance! The last few years on our dates it did get into the 80's some days, but I'm fearful of a cool December this year with how crazy the summer has been everywhere....

Thanks, I had a great time!! I didn't even babble on too much!

Well Scooter has gone over to the door a few times like she's thinking about it but doesn't make it through. As far as Minnie, she is getting squirted with water when she gets near the door and the noise is somewhat frightening. The bonus was she was still in the house when I woke up this morning!! We'll see how it goes, our animals are so spoiled.

I hope the weather is nice when we're there in December. I'm just so confused about all this freezing cold talk. We used to go to Florida (gulf side) every February and even one Christmas to spend some time with my grandparents and I always remember spending all day at the beach, in the pool, etc and never thinking about being cold. I know Florida can get a cold snap but I'm surprised that it would be this cold that far inland. I guess we'll just have to see what happens and keep our fingers crossed!

Cool Beans! I'm going to go and download it now and take a listen. Will reply later okay?

Edit: Sarah, excellent interview. I love it! Reminds me of our trip to see Bob Jackson last year! Fun time!
Thanks Mary for that and your note in Facebook. It was great fun and exciting! Mike and I are hoping to catch Bob on our September trip.

I think we should for at least the first meet together. I think Pogo and Jym were supposed to be coming up with some ideas, but I definately support the idea of us wearing some kind of identification so when we all meet it will be exciting to put names with faces, you think?

Is everyone having a good morning? It's definatelly a Monday around here. Mike "forgot" he had a business trip that he has to leave for tonight so we were running around trying to get him packed up. At least he will only be gone two nights. So I'm on dog door duty by myself :D

Have a great day  to all!

I could make some name tags. I would put the screen name, real name, and maybe location and avatar photo with it. I would laminate them and either put them on a lanyard or maybe a safety pin for a shirt. What do you all think?

I made some amazing cookies last nite and I didn't eat them all yet. Who wants some....?They are oatmeal white chocolate chip with golden raisins. (sorry Rhonda)

I heard the New England Meet yesterday that Greg hosted was a ton of fun. Wish I could have made it!

COOL, there's a baby crying and it's NOT MINE!

It's already been said, but boy, that is a strong feeling. I think all us parents still remember it -- that kneejerk reaction to any baby crying and the ensuing relief when you find out it's not yours.

My interview with Lou from the WDW Radio Show podcast about Bob Jackson was released today!! I'm so excited, it's like my 15 minutes, or I guess 7 minutes of fame. If you go to the website or Itunes you could listen to just my part, it's the first section of the show. How exciting, and I didn't sound like too much of a dork

You are a superstar!! I'm so jealous! So was Lou fantastic to chat with?

That's so cool -- I'm going to have to figure out how to listen to the podcasts and check yours out... I'm afraid of the ensuing addiction, though...

And what an addiction it is. Do be careful or you'll end up like me and Sarah...

Well, it was pretty good, but we had some serious thunderstorms around 4:30, and spent the next 1/2 hr cuddling with two trembling little girls. :hide: The lightening and thunder were pretty impressive, I have to say...

I got woken up at 1:30 last night (after finally drifting off to sleep around midnight) by my 5 yr old. Thankfully we have a king bed and there's room for more. I think she actually went back to bed once it all quieted down. What a summer we've had with storms!

Here's hoping the rain holds off and we can walk... I've got to start getting these legs (and the girls', too -- although they have no idea why) in condition!! Emma always complains when we walk "too far", and I want to tell her so badly why it's worth it!!! ;)

You're not telling the girls about the trip??? How cool! When are you going to tell them?

I could make some name tags. I would put the screen name, real name, and maybe location and avatar photo with it. I would laminate them and either put them on a lanyard or maybe a safety pin for a shirt. What do you all think?

When I made myself some nametags for the October meet, I used business card laminating pages. You can buy them at Staples/Walmart/Office Max... they are the perfect size and very durable. I also have a template with the Intercot logo (in Word) if you want it.

That would be off da hook!! :D LOL Those sounds great and would help for us to identify people and make that connection. Can you imagine the first time we all get together and people are running around looking at name tags, hugging, and laughing??? It's going to be a blast!!

Okay, I have to admit that this statement makes be REALLY want to go in December. I can just picture it!! Just have to win this contest and then I can go. By the way, I'm finalizing my best captions and will be sending out some facebook messages asking for opinions. I thought of doing a poll here on Intercot but don't really want all my best captions out in public...

We're good here, BTW. I took the girls to get shoes for school, lunch at the mall, and an hour at the playground (and it didn't rain!!!).

OK, just a word of warning - - -I'M BACK!! OK, I know I was only gone for a few weeks but it seems like ages since I last had time to sit down and actually post about everything that is going on around here and to keep up with all of you.

First up though I want to brag a little about my kids. For those who don't appreciate a proud papa bragging then you may want to skip down a little further.

As I mentioned we were in Indianapolis last week for the first week of the Indiana State Fair. My youngest son who just turned 12 showed 8 rabbits and received 3 firsts, a second, a fourth and two sixth place ribbons. considering the level of competition and the number of rabbits in each class that was quite an accomplishment. Then of the three projects that had been selected from the county fair to go to state he received blue ribbons and special merit awards on all three of those projects. And finally, he won his division in the rabbit illustrated talk competition! Can you guess that I am proud of him?

Then my next oldest child who is now 19 was selected from over 100 other youth from last year to actually come back and run the week long Youth Leadership Conference that the Indiana State Fair and Indiana 4-H put on each year. When his mother and I ran into the adult from Purdue University who is in charge of the program he couldn't say enough good about our son.

And then at the end of last week we received a phone call from our third child who is a 23 year old daughter and she told us that she finally got on full time with the National Park Service. She has been working part time with them for the last four years while attending collage and wasn't sure if she would get full time right out of collage.

Can you tell their mother and I are very-very-very-very proud of all three of our children?

Despite all the good news with our children last week we did also receive some bad news. My wife and I are very good friends with two other couples. Well the week before we left for the State Fair one of the men in our group lost his 92 year old mother. Then last Friday while we were eating breakfast we received a telephone call telling us that the man from the other couple lost his 86 year old father on Friday. So it was kind of tough being so excited about our kids and coming home to deal with the funeral home on Sunday and funeral today. All though, I am so happy that schedules worked out as well as they did because we were able to do everything we needed to do at Indianapolis and still be home in time for everything connected to the funeral.

The funeral was also special to my wife and I because she was asked to sing a couple of songs at the funeral today. It is so nice to have a talent like she does that you can share with friends and family during such difficult times.

We also had one other good thing happen. The Wednesday before we left for Indianapolis I had a doctor appointment and they changed some of the settings on my spinal stimulator which seem to be giving me a lot more relief from my back pain than was expected so I am really happy about that! Granted, I still have a huge way to go and am no where close to getting out of pain, but any amount of relief is a help!

Anyway, I don't know much else right now. I am going to try to catch up with what all of you have been doing but there are a lot of pages to read so I may just jump back in the water without a life jacket and see what happens!

Oh, the pools will be warm enough! It's when you get OUT of the pools that could be the problem! :fresh:

Guess I'll just have to make sure I have some antifreeze in me before I get out.

There would still be two more bedrooms..including one that's in our finished basement with it's own bathroom etc. My best guess is he will likely switch to that room prior to college anyway. I have no problem with him moving back but I kinda doubt he will since he's likely to go away to university/college since we don't have one here in town.

I'm thinking AFTER college....yes, they move back then too.

We leave the 22nd... and I totally can't wait!! Where are you guys going? I SO miss the Pacific coast, haven't been there since Dan I were dating/engaged and he worked in California. It is so beautiful.... of course, I did manage to get pulled under in an undertow, but that's a whole other story... don't miss that....

We are headed to the north Oregon coast on the 23rd. Staying at least until the 26th. Its a family reunion type trip (oh joy) with DH family. Don't get me wrong, I love my in-laws...in small doses. But this is brother-in laws and their wives too. We are all very different people. We're hoping to take a couple more days for just our family, but we'll see.
Oregon beaches are not your typical "beach" - unless you like your feet to turn blue and go numb when you go in the water. The water is COLD. No swimming, thats for sure! And hoodie sweatshirts are the norm, even in the summer - unless you hit a "warm spell". :D

About what to wear. My options are usually, WHATEVER FITS!:haha:

OK, so thats really limiting.

That would be off da hook!! :D LOL Those sounds great and would help for us to identify people and make that connection. Can you imagine the first time we all get together and people are running around looking at name tags, hugging, and laughing??? It's going to be a blast!!

The soup sounds yummy -- I have a carrot/ginger soup I make that is a friend's recipe, and it is SO good... I'd love to see WDW's version!
The recipe for Boma's version is posted over on InfoCentral. If anyone would like a Wolfgang Puck recipe for it, let me know.

Happy rest of Monday. I've got my mother all packed - she's being picked up at 6:30 by DD and DSILfor their flight to Ohio, and I'll be between my dog and DD's four, sleeping there since they don't have a doggie door. No dialysis runs, so this will be a breeze.

p.s. when are we ever going to scrapbook. i really need a big kick to get started. when does the sept time come out? because i'm thinking once your girls go back to school might work.
 Sorry.... with all the rain out there (shocking, eh?? more rain!! I think my lawn has life rafts out...) I'm betting on a bit of a crazy night. Hope you get through it okay, and don't hurt me too bad next time we see each other, okay??

I'm thinking September, too... once the schedule comes out, let's get our calendars, okay?

You're not telling the girls about the trip??? How cool! When are you going to tell them?

Okay, I have to admit that this statement makes be REALLY want to go in December.
We're thinking the Thursday evening before we go... we leave the following Tuesday. I've got a treasure hunt that'll lead them to our Magic Kingdom game, and then the last clue is a word search that leaves them with letters that spell out that we're going to Disneyworld! I can't wait... it's been so hard not to spill the beans!!

We want you to come, too -- SO much!! It'd be so great to see you again, and it'll be even better than October, 'cuz it'll only be people you know! Not that October wasn't awesome, but this'll be pretty cool, meeting (and re-meeting) people I've been talking to for ages!

First up though I want to brag a little about my kids. For those who don't appreciate a proud papa bragging then you may want to skip down a little further.

Jasper, the news about your kids is so cool... you have every right to be a very proud daddy. You and your DW have obviously done a great job!! Sorry to hear about your friends' losses - what a sad thing to return home to - sending a  to you all.

I'm still not quite me so I've been just relaxing, trying to get my "me" back. I hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Traci, I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling back to yourself... I know how rough that feeling can be, just know we're all in your corner and hoping things turn around for you soon. Big  to you, and know you're being thought of!!

I hope you guys have fun, even with all the "family stuff" that can go on... I hope you guys can get away on your own for a bit. I never got a chance to get to the coast in Oregon... I didn't realize it was so cold!! Sounds like Maine... maybe even colder... having grown up going to Maine, I just ran right in when I first took Dan there... being the ever-trusting (new at the time ) DH, he ran in, too -- and stopped dead in his tracks with this look on his face like he wasn't sure what he was married to anymore. :D

Dan was a "newbie", too, when he met everyone last October -- let's just say he went with an open mind, but had his doubts about it all -- I'm still not sure he didn't think I was involved in some cult, or something -- but he truly had a good time and enjoyed everyone he met, especially the JQ crew and a few others I'd known well on the boards. It was really great in the end! I bet your DH will enjoy himself... esp. with the fact that he'll have you all to himself, at least part of the time!! ;)

I usually write my room # on my tummy in Sharpee marker.... in case I forget. Does anyone else do anything like that?
Screen cleaner, please... Deb, that got a snort, a giggle and an all-out belly laugh up here. :funny: And I still don't know whether to believe you or not... :D

So, how is this night ending for everyone? We've been busy beavers around here all day, lots of errands and library time (my girls each took out 9 books and 2 movies... thank goodness we've got 3 weeks!!) and house stuff... and rain, lots of rain... feels like fall around here, absolutely!!

I hope you guys had a good night -- we're off to bed, hopefully the t'storms won't get any louder!! Catch you guys in the morning!!

If you all could spare some extra pixie dust, my Minnie kitty is gone :( She figured out the dog door already and I think she's been gone for a few hours. I thought I was being smart by putting the dogs outside while I was at my swim class to see if they could figure out how to get back in, unfortunately she figured out how to get out. We want you to come, too -- SO much!! It'd be so great to see you again, and it'll be even better than October, 'cuz it'll only be people you know! Not that October wasn't awesome, but this'll be pretty cool, meeting (and re-meeting) people I've been talking to for ages!

Traci, I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling back to yourself... I know how rough that feeling can be, just know we're all in your corner and hoping things turn around for you soon. Big  to you, and know you're being thought of!!

Ditto from Deb!

Screen cleaner, please... Deb, that got a snort, a giggle and an all-out belly laugh up here. And I still don't know whether to believe you or not...
Gottcha ya!!!:D

So, what have I missed?

I'm pretty sure someone that writes on their tummy missed a question somewhere up there, so this is for you:

And, I'm sure someone must have asked or needed a good dusting, so this is for whoever it may apply to:

I have made some progress on my project, but I'm not quite done with it yet. :shake:

Hopefully I can come up for air again soon!

Are they asking you to reinvent the wheel? Bles your heart!

[QUOTE=ElenitaB;1712955]Hey, Jasper! I forgot to welcome you back earlier. Glad to hear that the adjustment did you good.Sorry about all the other goings-on though.

Not the same ones at all. New and improved for December. Hold tight, folks! Lots of fun stuff being planned... and you'll just have to wait (patiently) until December to see what it is!

Rhonda, good luck with your project.

Deb, I've got so much real estate on this belly that I could write everyone's room number on it!

/QUOTE]

But, your real estate is shrinking!

I can put up a pot of coffee for you, Natalie! Caf or decaf?

The recipe for Boma's version is posted over on InfoCentral. If anyone would like a Wolfgang Puck recipe for it, let me know.
Anyone want pasta carbonara? What is this decaf you speak of? And yes please to the Wolfgang Puck version. This one was in a blue and white Disney cookbook with ones from the parks, the resorts & the cruise line. And wouldn't pasta carbonara work for breakie?

Yes and yes. Pasta first then the coffee? Or how about a nice bottle of Chianti and skip the coffee?
Skip the coffee are you mad man?

I usually write my room # on my tummy in Sharpee marker.... in case I forget. Does anyone else do anything like that? :D Nearly lost the coffee on this one.

Rhonda I hope this never ending project finishes up soon. Are you sure your not giving birth for them or something?

Good morning all... another busy day today, but I hope to drop in every now and then. The work crew didn't show up yesterday because of all the rain. :( Hopefully they get here and get this project done. See you all later.

Ha ha Sis :fresh:

Wow... you can hold your breath that long ???

If you all could spare some extra pixie dust, my Minnie kitty is gone. She figured out the dog door already and I think she's been gone for a few hours. I thought I was being smart by putting the dogs outside while I was at my swim class to see if they could figure out how to get back in, unfortunately she figured out how to get out. She is collared, tagged, and microchipped, but I think I'm in for a long night of worrying and searching.
Hope Minnie got back OK.

Does Pogo really need a nametag? Hey maybe he could come on a pogo stick then there would be no problems guessing who he was. Could you pogo all the way around WDW Pogo?
Now that would be a sight ! I'll be the one with a pretty lady by my side. ;)

zoop... can't sleep... woke up hungry, getting a snack. will read & catch up with everyone in the morning... kate, are you surviving? i guess i owe you one.... see you all in the morning, if i get back to sleep.... still raining... do i sound like i'm talking underwater???
You sound like Nemo !

yes you do. and i'm surviving. first 4hours on labor and delivery- was a baby nurse for a nicu csection. then i got floated to nicu at 11pm. they've been nice to me and at least my float is out of the way for awhile. and yes that means 8 is (calm). should i sleep this morning or just take my car in to be seen? hard decision.

You're on a :boat: ???? I thought you were working last night. Has Syracuse gotten so much rain, you need a boat ?? :D

Sarah, be sure to let us know about Minnie... I had a night like that with one of our cats, my baby, a few years ago... very scary and not easy to sleep. I hope she's back this morning and has decided not to use that door again!!

Pretty much.... I think my lawn is floating.

So, how's everyone this morning? The coffee's finally kicking in, so I'm good... I think I fell asleep around 5:15, don't know what was the matter with me. (no comments from the peanut gallery... that is NOT an open door for you....:D)

My MiL is coming out for a few days, so I'm off to a little "extra" cleaning... not that she's fussy, it's just me... I get a bit OCD when people come over. And if I'm a bit scarce, forgive me... if the weather cooperates, we're going to try to do the zoo and some outdoor stuff with the girls, but we'll see... these days, you just never know! Plus, she just doesn't "get" this whole Intercot thing, her son may be in on it, but I think she has her reservations.... and not at Disney, if you know what I mean.... ;)

Okay, gotta run... the vacuum's calling... :vacuum: ... anybody have any espresso???

Hey everyone... things have been up and down here. Last time I posted we had just sent my dad to the hosp. By Friday @ 1am the hosp called and we didn't think he was going to make it through the night. So we all ran down to the hosp and he was put in MICU.
Amid all the worry, life goes on and Christin was picked by her office to participate in a local festival (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2708554190083799695tbAmza). So we all wanted her to go. She had built their website. So they gave her a ride in the balloon (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2317862010083799695htItpR).
Of course as parents do-- I worried and we followed them w/ her contacting us by phone and you know what they say about things that go up? The picked a very busy area to come down in and as we come around the corner (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2829638620083799695eeCIue)I see the balloon on it's side :eyes: She had a great time but I was glad she was back on the ground.
With her down the next day we find my dad is up! We didn't think he was going to pull out but somehow managed. With sepsis and nephritis, he managed to put up a good fight though the docs say he's not out of the woods yet.
Unfortunately, the docs say that he will not be able to return home. The told us to find a nursing home for him b/c we can't be managed at home anymore. :(
So my life has been ups and downs... how bout ya'll???

I already know my name, so I don't think I need one....;) do I?

I usually write my room # on my tummy in Sharpee marker.... in case I forget. Does anyone else do anything like that? :D
Deb, that's kinda creepy. Right before Katrina they told everyone staying in low lying areas to write their names w/ permanent marker on their leg so we could ID them after the storm... too creepy for me...

One more question about nametags. I don't have an avatar, so how do I post a photo? I put one on facebook, but evidently it only went to some of my friends.
Will ZOOP in tomorrow with real brewed coffee, and something warm, fresh, and oozing calories.
If you want a special little avatar and want help let me know.. we can make you one for face book... I could really use some great coffee and some snacks after all that hosp. coffee.. :ack:

Thank you for all your well wishes and I'm happy to report that Minnie is safe and sound. I actually think she was hiding in the house, but it was very strange as she always comes when I call her (mostly because she thinks I'm going to give her something to eat) and I called her for over an hour and she didn't make a peep. After one of my searches I came in and she was in the living room. I don't know if that meant she came back through the door or was there all along but I gave her a hug and then scolded her for being a bad girl and making me worry!! Bad girl!!

So how's the morning treating everyone? I'm exhausted as you can imagine, but on the upside once I got to sleep last night I slept really well. I never sleep good when Mike's out of town so that was a plus!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Tuesday, I'll check in later  Thanks again!

GOOD MORNING ! First of all, Sarah I'm so happy Minnie is safe and sound.:)

I sent mom off this morning, and their plane should be taking off soon. I hope all involved have a wonderful time.

My day is starting off great. I brewed my coffee, and turned on the news. Guess what? Dunkin Donuts re-opened this morning. :cloud9: I'm going to get one (1) on my way to DD's house. If I get six, I'll eat six, so it's one per trip - I'm totally addicted, and have gone without for three or four months. Lord, give me strength. Nat, it occurred to me that the leftover carbonara would have been great for breakfast, however... there wasn't any! A certain someone demolished it! It's nice to have the dish back in my repertoire though (and I found a good price for pancetta too).

Ah, yes, Dunkin' Donuts. It's as if there is a superpowered magnet in the store that draws my car there every time I'm on the road. It's crazy! We try and keep visits to long road trips (like when we drive 3 hrs to see my parents) but who am I kidding... there's one on my way to work...

Today has been busy as DH went into school to do some bulletin boards. So the girls and I went to the library and the playground (left just in time to dodge the latest rainstorm). I worked on some of my figures for Saturday's cake -- if I can find my camera I'll post a pic of them.

Must run, 'quiet time' is over and the girls are clamoring for attention. Hopefully I'll get to check in on y'all later. Tomorrow I get the majority of the day to myself!!! I was thinking of going big and going to Boston to go shopping....

Nah, no possum. In Philadelphia, there was someone in every alley enjoying the bubbly, or sleeping one off. Nobody bothered them, so I'm thinking, we could take our coffee and donuts where we could be alone - not a soul pointing fingers, and no-one asking for a bite.

Sound good? (We don't have to sit on the ground though, - I'd never be able to get up).:D

Thanks for the thought on Minnie, she sure is a brat. We did a little more door training today with hot dogs. I got all of them to come through a few times. One time Scooter shot from outside to inside like she was on fire. She got a big piece of hot dog for that!!

"keep it rubber side down" is a motorcycle phrase based on the fact if there isn't rubber touching the ground, you're in trouble. I guess I never thought that it was confusing, Mike says it all the time at the track. I guess it could apply to cars to, don't want to have the rubber on them up either!! LOL:D

T & G just don't put cookies on your DH and he should be fine.

Well, thats where DH would fit right in. Never trust him with cookies, he's known to inhale them!

So do you have to flash everyone to check your room number? :D

We're thinking the Thursday evening before we go... we leave the following Tuesday. I hate to say it, but I really dislike JoAnn's. I have never been impressed with their cottons. From what I understand is that they take the seconds to keep the price cheaper. Flower, did you know that JoAnn's get part of their fabric from Fabricland's main supplier, which is owned by the owner of Fabricland? The fabric's we supply JoAnn's are cheaper up here. I'd die to be able to go to Hobby Lobby more often. Hobby Lobby is my craft store of choice, it really makes JoAnn's and Micheals look sick. They have more stuff and even better prices. I spent 3 hours in a Hobby Lobby one day with my friend...after that my DD refused to go shopping with my friend and I. To this day she hates to go to Hobby Lobby with me!!!

LOL

Makes sense... kind-of thought it had something to do with cars or bikes, figured anything going "rubber side up" sounded bad... I'll have to try it on Dan, who grew up going to the car race-track, see if he's heard it...

Hope you've all had a good day -- I'll see you in the morning! What's for breakfast??

Good morning JQ'ers, did ya miss me? :D
We had a storm that knocked out our internet connection site so we were without internet for the weekend. Well anyway the coffee and hot water are on and ready for us. As well as the juices and sodas for those of us who prefer cold beverages even in the winter time.
Have a magical day

Good morning all........ everyone sleep well ?

Yesterday saw one part of the resort project get about 90% completed and the bigger part got started. I'm really impressed with this contractor !

I've read through but don't have time for quotes, but I wanted to tell Beth that her and her family are in my prayers, more so in this troubled time.

I've got another tidbit for you and I'm sure Ken will be interested to hear this. I am going to sit in with a Classic Rock group tonight at a jam session. :drummer: I got the call yesterday and it interested me enough to go play so we'll see what happens. Can I have lots of pixie dust to help knock the rust off ? My first time performing in about 3 or 4 years.

I'll be in and out today and I'll check in later. Enjoy your day. :D

I think I'm just sticking with the purse for the accessory. I have the day off, so if I find the energy to finish it, I'll post a picture. For some odd dumb reason, we got scarves in. One of the scarves matched the shirt I had one yesterday, perfectly, so I think I'll buy it and wear it with the suit I'm going to wear that day. It's really weird because we have to dress up fancier for seminar then we do at the store.

Pogo, good for you  you'll do fine I know!!

So I just had a really upsetting morning. I told you guys that I paid my credit cards off last month, right? Well when I received my statements this month and there are really small finance charges tacked on. The one card just adjusted it automatically but the other two didn't. I called both places today and the one card didn't even let me finish explaining and she had already adjusted it off. So I called the Bank of America card and this man was so rude to me basically told me there was no reason to adjust the charge off, his supervisor wasn't available, they were valid charges, VERY nasty. I was so upset because not only did I have this credit card with them, Mike and I bank at Bank of America, we initially financed Mike's truck through them etc. Well I didn't know if I could go to a local branch and speak to someone about my credit card so I went online to find out. They had a live chat option so I thought I would ask them quickly, but just for the fun of it I asked her if there was anything they could do to adjust the charge and she did it no problem, thank you for being such a great customer, etc. Can you believe that???? The live person on the phone was an absolute jerk but the lady on the internet chat was more helpful!! Yikes, ridiculous. It really made me mad!! I think I might still call his supervisor back and tell him that was unacceptable, I'll have to see how I feel about it later and if I want to get fired up again :D

Anyways, other than that things are going well! We are working on the dog door and making some progress and Minnie stayed in the house last night!!

Have a great day, I'll check in later.

I love AC Moore - I wish we had them up here. I did not know that about JoAnnes, I have to admit I am not much of a fabric person. I was surprised that the wedding I am in in Sept that the bride asked me to decorate the basket with fabric. I made her very nice curtain toppers once for her basement windows. They were beautiful alright, except I mis-calculated - they fit perfectly along the vertical window portion - the horizontal part, not so much!

(and congrats on the chance to teach -- that's so cool!!)
Hope you've all had a good day -- I'll see you in the morning! What's for breakfast??

TIP: use an old spray bottle with water and fabric softener in it - the fabric softener breaks down the glue. Peel off the vinyl layer leaving the paper on the wall - spray the leftover paper with the solution, let it sit for a few minutes, use a putty knife to separate the paper from the wall easily! Just in case you did not know that one - and it leaves the house smelling fantastic!

Well, I am heading to Brandon's daycare for the afternoon, they are bringing in a traveling critter farm, :lizard:s and such! I am going to take some photos! We are then leaving to head up to our municipal airport to check out the police helicopter! Brandon loves going and Ben flips out whenever there is a plane overhead. I think he will really enjoy it too!

I am SO tired of the rain....it seems that is all it has been doing here. At least we are saving on air conditioning & lawn sprinklers. I have been tempted to turn the fireplace on lately to get rid of some of the dampness - it really feels more like spring.

What's for dinner everyone? I think we will eat out since we will be at the airport past dinner time.

Hello you fantastic, fabulous friends? I hope this day finds you happy, healthy and in good humor! I want to thank you guys for the toughts while trying to get myself together. Deb, Sarah and Blythe, your kind words meant the world to me. I know part of my problem was sunlight deprivation, I was almost convinced that I needed to build an ark.

I've done some reading back through and caught up with most of it but not all.

Beth, as always, you and your family cross my mind and my lips with my prayers each and every night. Know that you will be there for a very long time. How neat is that about Christin and her balloon ride!
Carol, that seminar you're going to sounds absolutely fun, I wish I was creative enough to attack those kinds of challenges. You are truly lucky to have such a gift.
T & G, I'm so glad that your nephew returned home. I will keep praying for those who are fighting and for him in case he returns there. That is really great about your DDs friend, as Ellen said, what a blessing.
Blythe, Yay for Emma and mastering a 2 wheeler. Give her a big congrats from us! What a great plan you have for telling the girls about the Dec. trip. I can't do that sort of thing, I have to shop for Christmas in mid Dec. so I don't give everything to people early.
Jasper, As far as finding my self in the mirror, I try not to look too often (see 37 year old crypt keeper in old JQ thread ;) ) How proud you must be of all of your children and of yourself for having raised them.
Deb, writing the room # on the belly thing had me laughing for 10 minutes. It so sounds like something I would think up. Is there any toast left?
Ellen, did you and Ben watch Close Encounters? Did he like it? As for the "cha-cha-cha" I was doing the "chi"-less version, which probably explains why I fell on my bum. ;)
Sarah, I'm so glad that Minnie is back safe and sound! That is so great about the interview, I'm going to try to find it so I can listen. I'm sorry you had to deal with the credit card people being rude. It's horrible to have worked so hard to pay everything (and I know just how hard that is so hats off to you!) only to have them treat you poorly.
Bethany, the name tags sound wonderful!
Le-ann, Sounds like a great day with the critters and chopper! Hope you had a great time.
Rhonda, :pixie: for the project. How's the foot?
pogo, Why kind sir, I would love to dance. However, you may want to wear steel toed boots and other protective gear, even if we're dancing 10 feet away from each other I tend to find some way to kick, step on, knock over, etc. others on the dance floor. :pixie: for the jam session. Does that go with Debs toast?
I hope the day is treating everyone well, have a great one! :pixie: to those who need it and  to each and every one of you.

I think we could do better then three hours!!! I think we could come up with some pretty cool dolls!!!

When I was still in Iowa, we had JoAnn's close by but not Micheals(the closest one was two hours away). Hobby Lobby moved into one town about 45 minutes away(the same town as JoAnn's), we fell in love immediately with it. It was opened at first on Sunday's, but then it began closing which I think is pretty cool because they aren't afraid to make a stand that Sunday's are for families to be together. I think I appreciate it more now that I work in a store that is also closed on Sunday's...you really do need that day off.

Too many people do not understand the word ' customer service' any more. Doesn't it just make you mad when you get an idiot like that ?

You aren't kidding! I had a whopper of an argument with Sears this week because they left a tag on a pair of shorts. (from the USA) which I may or may not be able to get removed but if I brought back to the USA I'd get 5 bucks (tolls being 8 made this unattractive), then Sears here could remove but wouldn't give me the 5 bucks (and it's still not in my hometown but in Windsor so almost a 1/4 tank of gas away)..long many time repeated story short I got 30.00 bucks back instead. (since the shorts were 10.00 it seems fair) But I'll be looking for ink tags more often. See this is why shoes are better!

I think it looks good but...... the tiny strap will never hold that purse when you put all your money in it. :D

I don't think so. I couldn't find anything in the store that would go good with it. I don't want beads since I have all the beads on the purse. I might make a broach out of buttons to go on the scarf.

wednesday. hey can i borrow your wallpaper removal stuff?
Yup - I just put it with my work stuff...

.... so, if you're on before 9pm, you think I'm coming in???

I am going to sit in with a Classic Rock group tonight at a jam session. I got the call yesterday and it interested me enough to go play so we'll see what happens. Can I have lots of pixie dust to help knock the rust off ? My first time performing in about 3 or 4 years.

That's so cool!! I hope you're having an awesome time... boy oh boy, Patti's going to have to peel you off the ceiling later... :D

So I called the Bank of America card and this man was so rude to me basically told me there was no reason to adjust the charge off, his supervisor wasn't available, they were valid charges, VERY nasty. I was so upset because not only did I have this credit card with them, Mike and I bank at Bank of America, we initially financed Mike's truck through them etc....
Sarah, I have to tell you, we bank with BofA, too, and I seriously dislike them... if I didn't have so much business tied up with them at the moment, I'd be out of there in a shot... although I really don't know who I'd prefer to do business with at the moment, either! We've had some good service -- at times -- and when we had the debit card fraud, they were great -- but we've also had some seriously rude conversations and happenings and I hate all their ridiculous charges... they're just too big, and they get away with too much. Sorry you had to go through that.... it really does get your BP up!!!

I am SO tired of the rain....it seems that is all it has been doing here. I have been tempted to turn the fireplace on lately to get rid of some of the dampness -

:ditto: -- I've had the same thought about our fireplace, it certainly does NOT feel like mid-August around here... it's been in the low 70's forever!!!

...I was almost convinced that I needed to build an ark.

Funny, sounds like us... only I think it's worse where you are b/c I bet it's alot colder, and here, the rain only keeps us from the lake... I'd HATE it if it kept me from being on the ocean!! ;) I'm hoping things warm up a bit for when we're there...

For of those of you that are interested, here are a few pictures (http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2332927290093439642PCMcNH) of my creative (http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2184821980093439642hsNfCv) purse (http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2273406970093439642SoWwsw). Let me know what you think, if it's perfect the way it is or does it need more or less. I really want to win something...even if it is a gift certificate for the store.
Carol, that purse is cool... how big is it?? I love the stitching, and the beads are a great touch!

ohhhhhh drummerrrrs(glazed eyes). i remember dating a drummer in college.
sigh, back to the present. you'll do fine tonite, drummers do it with rhythm.

ok i am off to work. wish me luck it will go smoothly. anyone get rain again today?

I'm sensing a restraining order again... :D

Okay, nix the question from up above... just talked to Hania to offer my services on the 8th floor and she accepted w/o hesitation... so I'll see you in a few hours!! So -- wishing luck for both of us...

... and yes, of course we got rain... while we were at the zoo, but luckily we were almost ready to do the indoors part!!

It's quiet in here today, where is everyone?
We went to the zoo & then out to lunch... we had a really fun time, the animals were all pretty rowdy b/c of the cooler weather, usually they're all having their early afternoon siesta. One AMAZING thing we saw was their python being fed.... she's about 19ft long and they gave her a 10lb rabbit... we saw her investigate it and grab it and coil herself around it... but we never got to see her eat it, as she kind-of positioned herself below where we could see, and was taking her sweet time deciding what she wanted to do with it. But even that much was pretty cool!!! (And yes, we did go eat lunch pretty much after that...)

So - how was everyone else's day? I hope it was good -- anyone else have an AP and get good news on their room rates? We saved about $160 on our room at CBR, and we were upgraded to a waterview!! We didn't want to be, but there were no specials on a standard view, so we would have paid more to not be upgraded. Weird, eh? We tried for a better deal at POFQ, but there wasn't one for our dates. :( So - I'm pretty happy with the outcome anyway!!

Gotta run and get the girls off to bed -- I'll check in with you guys later!!

It sure did, I was a wreck and it was only 8:00 am!! I'm glad someone was able to help me. It's amazing with B of A that a lot of times you talk to someone and they are the rudest, most unhelpful people you've ever dealt with and then you find someone who's like, sure no problem, anything else I can do for you? It's just weird!

YIKES!! :eyes: I couldn't watch that, it would make me crazy. I get the whole animals eat other animals, circle of life, yadda yadda, but I can't watch, it would have broken my heart.

So do you all think that Pogo's "gig" is going well? I sure hope so, I know he was nervous.

Mike should be home in a few hours from Denver so it will be nice to get some rest tonight. I'm getting better at sleeping when he's not here but it's still hard.

Blythe, that's awesome about your AP discount. I keep hoping for some Disney Visa discounts or something. I got an email with a pincode but it didn't help us out any. I'm have a feeling with the smoking deal we got at the BC we aren't going to be able to do much better than that!

Hope you all are having a wonderful night  I'll check in later!!

Without the beads it's 9" tall and at the widest point at the bottom it's 10".

That sounds like a great time at the zoo!!!

I think it's that way with all banks, Sarah. We had trouble with ours when we were getting the house and we have everything through it. I get the best help always from a very little branch here in town that I deal with through work, in fact, I moved all my stuff to this bank instead of dealing with the old branch.

I was hoping I would get a pincode that would help me for my October trip, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Anyone want a piece of lemon crumble pie? Gilles isn't home from work yet and I'm getting a little hungry..he's suppose to be bringing dinner home.

I couldn't have watched if the rabbit had been alive -- I'm totally with you on that -- but it was dead, had been in a freezer and had been "thawed" for the python earlier in the day. Still, pretty gross... but at least not as sad to watch. I was surprised my girls tolerated it as well as they did, being the animal lovers that they are... but again, probably b/c the bunny was definitely not aware of what was going on... ;)

I'm still so jealous of your BC deal... that is so great!! Maybe that'll be our NEXT Christmas trip, try to snag a Mousefest special there... ... you guys are going to have such a great time!!

Well, I'm off to get ready for work... I'll try to zoop in after I get there and am settled... having said that, I'll probably wish I hadn't... ;)

Have a great night, all!!

OK..... it went very well ! I didn't have to take my drums but I took my cymbals. They are a smoking hot band and boy, did we rock it, just like old times. I was a little rusty at first but then I knocked their socks off.

We played songs from ZZ Top, Zeppelin, Who, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Walsh, Stones, Rush, Metalica, Black Sabbath, George Thorogood, Ted Nugent and more. Two and a half hours of pure, unadulterated Rock and Roll Baby. I hated to leave. :(

Did I tell you how much fun I had ??????? Wow ! I may not be able to sleep tonight ! :D

Congrats on the room rates, that is a pretty sweet deal! Your zoo day sounds a little like my day.

So, I had a great day, I went to Brandon's daycare to see the critters and ended up with a boa constrictor around my neck...what was I thinking?! Oh yah...gotta this shot for my facebook profile pic! Priorities!

I then took the boys to the airport hangar where the police chopper flies out of, brandon got to sit in the back, he thought it was pretty cool.

I didn't make much project progress today, but I just needed a break from it. I'm hoping to make some good progress tomorrow before I have to leave to go sign the papers on our refinance closing.

I also finished all the fondant pieces for the cake I'm working on and baked the actual cake. I'll post a pic on Friday when I put it all together. We're off to visit my parents tomorrow, so I'll be zooping in Friday to try and catch up!

We had some of your weather today, but by the weekend, I'll be glad to trade our low 90s with ya.

That is so cool!!

Phew, don't I know it... just went and got 4 more pairs of shoes & boots for them yesterday, and we're off to the mall on Saturday or Monday. I can feel my wallet shrinking as I speak....

No news on the waitlists, however we DO actually have ressies at OKW (but only 3 nights are available using our point - so we are paying cash for one at this point). I would love for one of the waitlist to come thru, but we won't be "roomless".

Good morning all... what a great day to be alive ! I'll pick up Sandy's slack today.... must be she's sleeping in. Coffee's on the counter and Patti made some cinnamon buns... they are still warm. Help yourself !

I have a quiet day today. Lots of research on a new company I'm thinking about partnering with and I've got to do my due diligence so I'll be around today. Got rock'n roll playing in the background. :D

I will call you !

Blythe, Blythe, Blythe ! :shake: That's the wrong way to look at AAA. If you spent $123 and saved $118, it means your membership cost you $5. One breakdown on your way to work without AAA would cost more than your membership for several years. And the other discounts you get are nice. Hotel, rental car, car wash, movies. Know what I mean ???

Wow! DH would be TOTALLY jealous! Are they going to invite you back?

Did I tell ya that DD16 is writing a book?

They already have. They want to do this on a regular basis and then maybe play a few parties. I asked them what they were doing in December but I don't think they want to travel that far.

That's cool.... at 16 I didn't want to read a book, much less write one. Good for her ! :D

Stuff like this was one of our reasons to NOT join DVC.... that and our age. If we buy our place in Florida this year I won't have to ask permission to stay.

She said "instrument".
That's pretty good coming from someone that can't even play an air guitar !

Good morning to all of you fantabulous people, and you rockers (pogo) ;) I hope you all are doing well this morning! Egads, it's cold outside. Blythe, you're right about the weather, when it's damp here it's also cold. I think it's paobably around 50 right now.
Natalie, the bio dad showed for his visit yesterday apologizing for flaking out last week.... but said his father wasn't coming because he lost his camera :shake: and we all know you can't visit a baby without a camera.
Carol, that purse is lovely! As I said, talent....
pogo, I'm so glad you had a good time!!!! Wish I could have seen it.
Ken, I think you should use us as your editors.... we could be honest... ;)
Blythe, about the snake I have one word, ICK! Just reading about the poor little frozen bunny made my breakfast go away.
Le-Ann, sounds cool about the helicopter, I don't mind snakes (except the eating habits :ack:) sounds neat. I hope the :baby: didn't keep you up too much. I took the night off and let them deal with their own baby, how mean am I???
T&G, too coll about DD writing a book, such dedication....
Kate, it's not that Blythe was at the computer more than you, she just has the gift of gab and can get way more talk in a short amount of time (you know I love you Blythe right?)
Not much going on today, Hailey is not feeling well so we may get her in to see the Dr. We'll see. Help yourselves to the doughnuts and milk. There's juice in the fridge for those who want it. I hope you all have a great morning  to al!!!

In December I'm rooming with a non AP person, we are on the Deluxe Dining with park hoppers. I'll have to save my park hoppers for later in life. Does anyone know if I don't use any of the days if I don't get non-expiration will they expire in what 10 days? Is this correct? I was thinking that if I didn't use any of the days then they wouldn't expire until I used one of the days. I'm lost sometimes with all of this stuff.

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to lovely work again. But don't have too many more days until Disney. Single digits today baby! Loving it! :mickey:

As far as I know as long as you don't use them they won't expire. The clock starts ticking the first time that you use them, then I think you have 14 days. Is that right? Anyone?

Single digits for you?? WOO HOO!! How exciting. We have 25 days so it's feeling more real everyday.

It might be close to the right color..... but I have to ask..... is it a "clip on" ?????? :D

Would that be white, grey or pink?
His is grey with white..... mines brown with grey ! :D

Hey Pogo, now I know how I'll recognize you in Dec. Long big hair, flourescent silk shirt, cut to the navel, gold chains, diamond ear studs, and cool shades.

Hubba, hubba, ohhhhh yeah!:rocker:

You are such a nut ! How did you know I dressed like that ???? :D

Isn't that Ken's description?

Afternoon all, I'm in a  mood this afternoon. I can't believe the bunch of nutcases that showed up at our doorstep today. Why doesn't anyone take reponsibility for their own health and well being anymore?? Geez people get a grip.

Ok, I'm better now, I think :D

I can't tell you how much I need a vacation, I'm so looking forward to this Disney trip, it just can't get here fast enough. And I know Pogo, don't wish life away, yada, yada, but really I could fast forward through the next few weeks and be just fine with that, so there!! ;)

Ok enough crabbing on my end, hope you guys are having a great one  to you all!!

Should I check to see if I can get an AP rate for the night we have to pay cash??
I would, although it seems they're being stingy with what they have AP rates for...

and i've been busy tonite at work. unlike someone who has been posting her little tootsies off.
:fresh:

Guess I've got to start growing my hair !

Please be nice to Blythe. She didn't do too many posts last night. :D
:funny:

See, I know that's how I should think about it, but we've got roadside assistance w/ our insurance and I just can't help believing it's wiser to get the AAA for the sake of AAA when you want it and then having the benefits be "cake" than to spend the money for the benefits, esp. if they're worth less than the cost of the membership. And so little of what we do has a AAA benefit -- we've been members numerous times, and honestly, haven't ever felt we got our $$'s worth. Weird, eh?

Thank you!

Kate, it's not that Blythe was at the computer more than you, she just has the gift of gab and can get way more talk in a short amount of time (you know I love you Blythe right?)

Perfectly put!! See? I knew someone understood me!! :D

(I hope Hailey's feeling better and that your weather's a bit better... today is actually sunny and warmer and it feels so nice!!)

Wow -- you guys have been so quiet here today, did everyone suddenly get a job or get busy or get nice weather or something???

It's beautiful out today, I'm sad I had to sleep through most of it, but I'm about to go try to enjoy what's left of the afternoon -- hopefully, I'll be back to work tonight at 11pm, so bring on the coffee!!

Sarah, I just have to tell you, that made me laugh so hard... I totally sympathize!! There are times I get so into planning my trip that I just want to come out of my skin, I want the trip to get here so fast!!! And I try to remind myself over & over to "live in the moment", remember that "every day is a gift", believe that my girls will only be this little once/for such a short time/never again and to enjoy it and embrace it and all those wonderful cliches that are so very, very, true... but I still can't help getting that burn inside that just says, "Why can't we be leaving tomorrow?? I don't want to go through all the days b/w now and then!!!" :fit: :D

I can't believe it's down to 25 days for you... I think I'd be way less patient than you are right now!!!

Single digits for you?? WOO HOO!! How exciting. We have 25 days so it's feeling more real everyday.

Mike got home safe and sound last night. We're going to spend a little time tonight on dog door training. We're making some progress but with our dogs sometimes it's two steps forward and three steps back. I think they will eventually get it, just who knows when!
25 days for us too! can't wait to see you!!! Glad Mike is home safe and sound. :pixie: for training the dogs....

Thanks..... I'm surprised you didn't hear it

Could you guys also send some pixie dust my nephews way? He came home for two weeks and was able to take his wife and daughter to WDW but has gone back to Iraq. Not positive, but its a fantasy/fiction type. She's written numerous short stories, but is working on expanding it into more. She's got a few chapters done. She would be even further if she didn't spend all her time going back and tweeking the previous chapters constantly.

That's all right. I write a few pages one night, then go back and tweak it before I start the next few pages. Helps me get back into the swing of it and also gives me a 'cold' view of what I've already written. Tell her to keep at it.

What a contrast to our weather today. Up until later in the afternoon, it was perfect weather; mid 70s, breezy, sunshine. By this weekend we'll be back to hot and hazy though. Looks like things might be heating up in the tropics, so we're starting to watch the weather more now.

What's the cake for? Wedding, birthday? I'll bet it will be beautiful.

We're having a BBQ on Saturday. It happens that most of the people coming are music teachers -- my DH and I are both music teachers. So I am making a cake for dessert -- chocolate cake with cookies n cream filling and vanilla frosting. I'm putting it together tomorrow, so I'll post pics. It's a 'music class' cake. You'll see.

Prayers said and pixie dust sent. God bless your nephew!

I'm beat. Today I drove 2.5 hrs to my parents house in NY (with the girls, no hubby as he had to stay home with the dog). We visited with them, had dinner, and then drove 2.5 hours home again. We used to be able to stay over at their house, but lately it's been too much of a disruption in their routine, so we're stuck with day visits. My mom had a brain aneurysm about 5 yrs ago and my dad has been taking care of her ever since. She can walk with a walker but needs him to help her with just about everything. She also has some short term memory loss. It's been really tough on my dad but he's dedicated to her and I love him for it. :)

Have a good night, all... anyone want to join me for a late night bowl of cereal? I'm starving!!

Cool! I'm glad we saved what we did with my AP, but it's frustrating when I see people posting about saving $400 - $600 on their October or early December trips b/c of the MYW specials... most of our dates are blacked out, which makes me a bit nervous for how busy it might be... :( We may or may not "break down" and re-join AAA next year... yes, pun intended....

Okay, okay... yes, Kate is sweet... she won't hurt you.... (Kate, you can put the $$ in my locker...)

ZOOP!

Sorry, folks, I just wanted to tell y'all I'm still alive. Had a great day shopping at the outlets and managed to not empty the bank account. I also finished all the fondant pieces for the cake I'm working on and baked the actual cake. I'll post a pic on Friday when I put it all together. We're off to visit my parents tomorrow, so I'll be zooping in Friday to try and catch up!

Pogo, glad to hear you had a good time playing with the band! Let us know when you're doing the world tour and I'll be there with my lighter.

The caption is finally sent in to Lou. Now we wait.

Kathy

After all that caption writing, you couldn't think of a question? :nono:

I almost considered re-joining AAA for their 20% rate, but figured spending $123 to save $118 wasn't really worth it...

I'm pretty positive our membership didn't cost that much - I think it was about half that (but only Robert is covered on it for now as I also have another roadside assistance plan).

us too. i was so looking forward to the ap rates. they didn't help us at all. of course we aren't traveling during value season. i don't know why the whole month of oct is regular season? disney and their seasons make no sense.

Quite a few schools have fall breaks in October. I think that and the Food & Wine Festival add up to regular season.

Does anyone know if I don't use any of the days if I don't get non-expiration will they expire in what 10 days? Is this correct? I was thinking that if I didn't use any of the days then they wouldn't expire until I used one of the days. I'm lost sometimes with all of this stuff.

As far as I know as long as you don't use them they won't expire. The clock starts ticking the first time that you use them, then I think you have 14 days. Is that right? Anyone?

Sarah is correct. They will expire 14-days after first use (first day plus 13 days actually). So, the clock doesn't start ticking until you use the ticket for the first time.
