so the people i stalk can't give a good description to the police :D

soooooo, pogo where in rochester do you live? ;), i actually grew up in chili. graduated high school from gates-chili. i have my nursing degree from the university of rochester. my parents still live there.

ok i am off to bed. see blythe i'm still awake at 9:45am. it was for disney- of course i could have stayed awake.

:funny:

How come I never knew that?

I should've thought of that...

Actually, I live in Gates. Wouldn't it be funny if your parents were my neighbors ???? :D
Which side?? :D (you guys are scaring me... )

Could I ask you all for a little pixie dust? I just got a call from Dan's aunt -- she's on her way down to Texas b/c her son is in the ICU w/ severe pancreatitis and is not doing well. Her other son is on her way to the airport to fly down w/ her, which makes me doubly nervous, as they're not ones to do that type of thing unless advised to by the dr. We aren't super close to Dan's cousin in Texas, but used to be somewhat, and of course, growing up, the kids were, well, kids and friends. So -- if you could spare a bit of the magic for him -- his name is Ed -- he's young (36) and has two small boys who, although he's divorced from their mom, come and stay with him every weekend and quite often during the week. :( Thanks....

Okay -- gotta run -- more packing...

Who's Richard Sherman?
OMG, are you kidding me??? :faint: Richard Sherman and his brother were only two of the most influential songwriters for all of Disney. They wrote all the music for Mary Poppins and many Disney attractions, most noteable The Carosel of Progress.

Aren't you the thrifty shopper ! Don't you love getting a deal ????? :D

It's one of the best things about our trips! I love the planning and getting those last minute good deals! That was quite a shock though, quite a difference in price!!

Sarah, I'm so sorry this is all "ganging up on you" at once... and no, you're not a baby at all!! You're very lucky to have such a close relationship w/ your dad, and it's actually a blessing for you that his leaving brings tears, not many folks have that. So, just take all this as a sign of how much you and your dad love each other, what a good doggy-mommy you are and what good love and care you give your family, your fur-babies included.

Thanks for your support!! I'm supposed to have lunch with dad on Friday again, I'll probably just cry through most of it. I know it will make him feel guilty which I don't want to do, I just can't pretend that this doesn't hurt me.

Absolutely :pixie: on the way for Dan's Aunt and the whole family!!

So last night went so much better. We put Scooter in the crate at midnight and she actually let me sleep until 5:00, it was really nice. Unfortunately Daisy has figured out how to use the door. I don't have any worries that Daisy will leave the yard, but she doesn't need to be anywhere near the door. So we're spraying her with water anytime she gets anywhere near the door now. Geez, could all these animals just get with the program???

Other than that things are good. We're having a big staff meeting this lunch hour, so should be able to get some things out on the table. Hope you all are having a fabulous day

I've once again done my part to show that lawyers aren't always bloodsuckers (may get some asterisks on that one). I gave my 27th pint today. Even got some pizza and a free T-shirt this time as a bonus.

That I can, and can you believe Fay is taking her sweet ole' time to cross Florida? Still getting a lot of rain and wind here. My Mom aka PirateGal and I were at the Golden Corral and the lights flichered they were off long enough to be noticable. Both thought for sure the power was going to go out. Right now there's a Flash flood warning in effect until 8:37 tonight. I know, I know I've been doing rather well losing weight so why that place? Because we wanted to eat there? :D

Thanks for all the prayers and pixie dust!! Be good, to all who need it and behave... and try not to finish the thread, my eyes won't be able to handle catching up!! I'll miss you all -- see you Monday evening! Love ya!! :D

:rotfl: Screen cleaner please!

Traci, you have one of those positive attitudes that just amazes me... ... your family is very lucky to have such an upbeat, spirited person in their lives. Right now, I'm just letting some of your happiness rub off on me...
Thank you, that was a very nice comment... it means a lot to me if I make someones day just a tad brighter.

Wow -- we drive right by there on our way to Cooks Corner!! I can't believe that's where she was... talk about being out in the open!!! Wow!!
I know, it was astonishing to say the least.

Do you realize how much like Blythe you are ???? It is scary.
Why, thank you, I'll take that as a compliment. Uumm, except the scary part.

I don't advise violence unless it involves children, the elderly, or helpless animals. I think someone ought to show your "ex" a new way to use his airboat motor.
Thanks Marilyn, I needed that!

What if it involves a lack of questions?
:rotfl: Wow, you're good!

OH OH, I forgot the best part!

We're renting a car for our trip in a couple weeks and I wasn't able to get a very good deal this year because of the economy/gas prices, whatever. So I was just messing around on the computer this afternoon checking our flight prices, etc. and I went on Dollar's site and got us a rental car for the whole week for $85.00!! WOO HOO, I just saved us over $100 for the week!! Pretty cool huh? More Mickey merchandise for me!!
:yay: That's awesome, what a smart shopper you are!

I think the airboat motor should be pawned...
I agree, Ithink they should be able to take his toys, (ATV, the boat that he uses for fun instead of fishing etc) Oh well, That's ok, I'm sure I'm a much happier person than him so that's the best revenge there is right?

So.... is everything flushing okay??
Uum, hello, a little personal don't ya think?

Could I ask you all for a little pixie dust?
Sending tons your way! :pixie:

Again, let me thank you. If not for blood donors there would have been several times that I wouldn't have made it, so a mere thank you is no where near enough........

Sending more :pixie: to ride out the weather safely!

Well, did everyone's day go well? When I went to the shelter to pick Hailey up from volunteering I made the mistake of going in. We have 4 cats and a rabbit (all rescues except the rabbit) and a small home so we can't take anymore. I'm such a baby that I started blubbering like an idiot and had to leave. Theyhave over 230 cats right now....:( I just want to bring all of the kitties and doggies home to stay.
Well, I guess I should go relax for a bit, it's been a very busy day. I hope everyone is doing well  to all.

Oh, and Blythe, have a safe trip!

Caroleh, you need to get some rest and get rid of that "bug"

My dolls are all sizes. The largest is a 32" Santa, and the smallest is a 6" pincushion. I DO pay to dress my dolls, so if you're serious, I'd just as soon pay you. The ones I'm working on now are 13 in. quintuplets. They're not all porcelain - they have cloth bodies from above the knees and elbows to the base of their heads. When DH gets home I'll send some pictures, (I don't know how to do that).

I've done almost 60 dolls, some of them antique reproductions, and look forward to showing them off.

Get well !

with any luck here are 6 of my dolls http://www.geocities.com/marilyn.michetti/?200820

I hope you have a better night... sorry I wasn't there to participate in the fun last night. Trust me, it would've been better than 5 hrs staring at the ceiling in my isolation room in the ER.... :bored:

You should have used the time to catch some :sleepin: !

Have a great time!! We are heading the opposite direction early Saturday. Say hello to the Atlantic for me, and I'll say hi to the Pacific for you!!

now ok i agreed to go into work tonite for overtime. what was i thinking????

Well SOMEBODY's got to fill in while Blythe is off having a great time!

I'm taking tomorrow off to get ready for our trip - since I have done NOTHING to prepare as of now. Besides, I couldn't face another day of work this week. I'm taking the first half of next week off, and we will see about the rest when we return. This time of year is always rough for me, as school starts and I face another year of stress dealing with schedules, school work, and oh yah, work too. Of course it could also be that this is our normal "Disney" time of year. We have gone to DL or WDW for the past 4 years, the last week of August. Not this year. :( Do you think I'm just having Disney withdrawals??

I'd say you're having Disney withdrawals!! I kinda know what you mean, only mine isn't Disney, but going back home. We usually go at the end of May. This year we didn't go and I'm missing my family something terrible.

Have a great time this weekend, T & G, Blythe and Mary!!! Mary, could you eat a Mickey rice krispie bar for me please? 48 more days until the first trip!!!

Pogo, I've done some "guy" dolls, and I've done a couple that involve veils and finger tambourines. One of them enlisted as a Navy Wave, but the other probably shouldn't be shown on a family forum.

Caroleh, DH is waiting for your e-mail to send you an actual picture of the quints.

(I still have hopes that Pogo will change his mind about being a guy - the embarrassment will stay with me forever). If you can't, can you at least pretend to like dolls?:D

Just zooping! This week has been crazy busy, I spent yesterday at the zoo with Brandon's school - yup...45 children!! It was exhausting and I get to do it all again tomorrow at a local water park. I think I need to have my sanity level checked!

Pogo - the walkway/deck looks amazing!

Blythe - I hope everything works out with your tests, I hope no babies end up getting the mumps - and the poor things are not even vaccinated. Are they planning on doing anything to the Dr if she knew she was infected and still reported to work?

Marilyn - your dolls are adorable! (This coming from a girl!)

T&G - I am with you on the Disney withdrawls....we have been going 3 times a year for the past 3 years - I have not been since January & I don't think we will get back until next Sept :(. Jays work schedule is just too crazy and will be for the next year :(

Ken - Thanks for giving blood!
My step-dad was honoured at a dinner in May for giving over 100 units of blood. In June he had a heart attack and was administered 3 units, he joked that maybe he was saving his own life. In July he learned that because of the heart attack he can no longer give blood - ever. I have a call in to Canadian Blood Services and am waiting to hear back from them; I want to organize a blood drive and challenge his friends & family to match (hopefully supersede) his 100 unit contribution. I will keep you all posted on if the drive is a go or not! I already have the location set up at one of our police divisions that has a public access community room - The police chief and inspector have given me their blessings, so hopefully the Cdn Blood Services will allow/staff the drive. Anyway - thank you!

Well, I am heading to bed, gotta rest up for my 'field trip' to the water park tomorrow - anyone want to come chaperon with me?

 & :pixie: to all those in need, and to all of those going to WDW, say hi to :mickey: for me, and please bring me back a :bar:.

Lea-Ann, when I was waiting to give today, they were talking about a man who had been given several pints when wounded as a WWII soldier. He started giving as soon as he got home and apparently has given some huge amount of units over the last 60 years or so. I thought they said 1000, but that amounts to about 16 pints a year, and I'm not sure that's possible.

Anybody got a spare cookie?

So who are you going to have coffee with tomorrow ??? :D
Hope so. Its supposed to be really nice on Saturday....then rain the rest of the time. :(

Don't know. I'll probably grab coffee when I'm getting groceries. Not exactly a relaxing day off, but still better than being at work. :D

I'd say you're having Disney withdrawals!! I kinda know what you mean, only mine isn't Disney, but going back home. We usually go at the end of May. This year we didn't go and I'm missing my family something terrible.

I don't think its just Disney. This is our normal big family vacation time, and this extended weekend at the coast just isn't cutting it.

T&G - I am with you on the Disney withdrawls....we have been going 3 times a year for the past 3 years - I have not been since January & I don't think we will get back until next Sept :(. Jays work schedule is just too crazy and will be for the next year :(

I shouldn't have withdrawls, since we were just there in March, and will be back in December. But its become a really special family vacation destination for the end of the summer. Hopefully next year we will be Hawaii, and all will be good. :D

I forgot to mention that tomorrow morning is the start of the nations largest relay race. The "hood to coast" starts up on Mt Hood and goes about 200 miles to the Pacific ocean. Teams of about 10 run legs through the night. Check this (http://www.hoodtocoast.com) out. We may pass some of them Saturday morning on the way to the coast.
I know many people that have done this over the year, including this year. They have some rather funny team names. My favorite would fit right in here....."Roadkill". :D

Anyone watch the volleyball on the Olympics tonight?

That sounds similar to what they do up in the Seattle area. I don't remember the name...Summit to Sound or something. Each leg is a different activity...skiing, canoing, etc. My brother was going to do the canoe part but they had gotten a lot of rain and they called off that section at the last minute. He was upset, but my nervous mom was not lol.

T&G, have a safe and wonderful trip!

Carol, I don't remember reading about you being sick but Marilyn says to get rid of the "bug" so :pixie: to feel better.

Marilyn, those dolls are very nice, thans for sharing the pictures!

So, does anyone have anything special going on today? I think after Hailey is done at the shelter (animal) this afternoon that we will try to figure out what we need to pack for our upcoming trip! Woohoo! 17 days to go!! BTW, Thanks Sarah, you got me in the mood to pack! ;)

Oh yeah, anyone who's keeping score, the bio family were MIA no-call, no-show yet again this week :shake: we just got our date for the mediation and also for the pre-hearing status conference. so we'll see....
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful morning and help yourself to some doughnuts. :pixie: for those who need and  for all!

Morning all, I'm tired again today (surprise, surprise, right?) and was pretty restless last night. I got up at 2:00 and decided to take the trash out, silly girl! At least it's Friday and that gives me something to look forward to. Even though this weekend will be busy with a mobile adoption on Saturday, and a big dog walk on Sunday. Oh well, at least it's not work!

Well I'm off to finish getting ready. I'm going to lunch with my dad today, hope I don't act like too much of a baby. Hope you all have a fabulous day  Love ya!

I loved my trip to Oregon. My friend was nursing out there and I was able to go and visit. I had the coolest digital picture of the tip of Mt Hood peaking thru the clouds as I were flying home, but, the CD that had the pics on it now has a video game on it - somehow? :(

Traci,
Have fun planning to pack!

I really hope everything goes well with the mediator/pre-hearing. Hopefully it is for the best that did not show up and maybe you can get them out of his little life for good. He does not need that growing up, wondering when they will come...poor little guy.

Thanks. The sales manager that done our quote for the landscaping company stopped by yesterday and was amazed at the detail his crew put into the work. Now I've got to write the check. :(

So Sorry to hear you still have to write the cheque...just think of the extra Disney luxuries you could have had on your next trip....at least they did a wonderful job!

That does seem like a lot to have donated, and given his age too - that is great that he continues to give. In Canada you can only donate around every 2 months - and they are strict about their policies. He can't donate because of the heart attack, not because he received blood.

Well, I am trying to gear up for this class trip today. I will have my own 2 kids at the water park, in addition to helping them watch the other daycare kids - it is going to be along day! On the upside, the sun is shining and it is supposed to be hot & humid so it is a perfect sounding day for it!

I have no cookies to share, but there are some leftover eggs and toast, anyone interested?

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? I am heading out of town to a friends place (Ironically, she is the one I visited when she lived in Oregon, she is back here in Ontario now!)

Thanks, I'm hoping with te records we're keeping that she has a good shot at sole r&r and custody. So kep your fingers crossed, Carter sure doesn't need to spend his childhood sitting on the porch waiting for them to show up.
Have fun t the water park!

Well, I guess I won't be doing packing today, Bruce has been bugging me to go to the Dr. early because I'm pale again and exhausted but then again I have always looked like Caspers sister.
I figured I was hust tired from the virus but we'll see. The Dr.s office said they want to test just to be sure I don't need another transfusion right now :( I usually need someone to tell me to get checked because I've only had a very rapid drop once, so it just gradually happens so I don't notice. The last 2 units I got took 8 hours, not the way I want to spend a day. But at least I feel much better after. So let me just say yet again, Thanks for the blood to all who give.

Oooh, chocolate chip'll get me every time. Thanks.

You know, mental abuse is about as bad as physical abuse and sometimes leaves more unseen scars. Nothing says "You're not worth my time" to a kid more than not bothering to show up for visitation. I hope the courts stop that nonsense and stop it fast. No child should have to be put through that. DW's ex had a lot of faults, but one thing he was good at was being sure he got the kids when he said he would. DW also helped him through a rough time by allowing him to pay less support for a while, but didn't mind it as much because he was actually pretty good to the kids.

:pixie: to everyone in Florida who's being drenched because Fay has overstayed her welcome. We're getting a little outfall up here in the form of wind and gray skies, but we need the soaker rains we're getting.

Keep good thoughts for the flight and the weather, don't like flying too much. :plane: But hey it's only 2.5 hours and we are there. We have changed our plans a little due to the remaining rain bands for tomorrow, not going to the Water Park but off to Downtown Disney. Will try and do the Water Park on Thursday instead. I have a new cooke recipe I want to try but I have next to nothing in my fridge. Perhaps I could swim over to Publix? No seriously we aren't flooded, we must have good drainage over here. Hey, you being closer to your trip means I'm closer to my trip!
BTW Guess what Sarah?

WE"RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!
Sorry had to let that out.
Have a great lunch with your dad, enjoy his company  and remember, it's ok for Daddy's girl to be a baby about missing him, k? As I've told you before, those of us who have or have had that kind of relationship with our family are the most blessed people in the world. I lost my dad when I was 22, but I had more love in that 22 years from my dad then a lot of people have in a lfetime!

Where'd you get the cards to print? I would love to do that.

:pixie: To all of our dear ones here on JQ that are dealig with that old witch Fay!
Well, I had the blood drawn, so we'll see. Kinda funny, to see if I need blood they take it....
Can I ask for a tiny bit of :pixie: we just found out that Hailey's financial aid and student loan will be held up untill Oct. 2. She starts at U.M.A. the first week of Sept. They said they may be able to give her an emergency loan for her books through the school so if you could keep your fingers crossed for that to come through, have you seen the price of college text books??? It's frightening!
On a very bright note, Carter took 2 steps from the couch to the coffee table!!! :yay: AND he has discovered his outdoor voice. Every time someone walks in the door he raises his little eyebrows and yells "AAAAAAHHHHHH" it's kinda like walking into Cheers.
So Bruce is, I think, the nicest guy in the world. I have always wanted a rabbit, since childhood. Well, we were looking into getting a Flemish Giant (25 or so pounds) but on mother's day weekend we found a Lion Head, it's a new breed of rabbit, that actually isn't even recognized yet. Well, she's super cute so we got her. Well, turns out I'm allergic to her. I'm not allergic to regular rabbits but she has two types of fur, normal bunny fur and what they refer to as wool. So, I've played with her, leash trained her, litter trained her and all but the more I'm around her the more sick I get. Bruce fell in love with her, we named her Madeline Mae, those were both of my grandmothers middle names. Bruce stops on his way home to pick her clover everyday, he gives her a slice of banana every night, he just dotes (sp?) on her and she is his favorite animal. I love Maddy too but can't spend time with her.
They have a Flemish Giant at the shelter where Hailey volunteers but there is no way we can afford another rabbit. He said last night that we can give Maddy to a good home and get the bunny that I'm not allergic too..... Of course I said no way. I can't believe how giving and special he is. :cloud9: Isn't it cool that every time I think about him I still get goosebumps after knowng him for 30 years?
Anyway, I think if I keep blabbing we will have to start a new thread so have a great one all!!

Hey all, just checking in to see what is happening. Looks like it is the same old silliness here.:D:D

I don't really know much new. The swelling in my spinal cord is worse then they expected this far after the last back surgery in late June so the doctor has started me doing some physical therapy in the water again. I do enjoy getting in the water but the workout has really zapped my energy and pushed the pain levels up again so I have been pretty much going to therapy and then home to lay down. Oh well, it's just all part of the process.

Did anyone see the article that says if children grow up with pets they are more likely to be snorers as adults? The article didn't really say if the pet had to be in the house or not but I find it rather hard to believe that there could be much of a connection. Supposedly this conclusion was printed recently in a British medical journal of some kind. My other question for the people who did this study is why would you ever even think to study such a link in the first place? It almost sounds to me as if they were looking for there to be a connection.

Talk to you all later!

So -- if you could spare a bit of the magic for him -- his name is Ed -- he's young (36) and has two small boys who, although he's divorced from their mom, come and stay with him every weekend and quite often during the week. .
:pixie: powerful pixie dust headed his way.

I hope everyone is doing well, I'm GREAT!!!! I can share if anyone wants some happy. I made peanut butter cookies but they did't come out so well but help yourselves.
How fair is that?
But any-who, I try not to get too peeved about it, life is too short and if we have to eat mac-n-cheese because it's cheap then at least we're together and have food on the table.

 I remember all too well. My ex could go to Europe but didn't have the $$ for his kids.
He gave up his rights in 95 and they haven't seen him since 94 and I've lost a lot of $$ but hey it's not worth the pain and stress. It does get better....

MsMin - If I ever make it out to the New Orleans area (or where ever in LA you are) can I come see your Yorkies? I think those dogs are so cute! (I want one)

I'm 80 miles west of N.O.(Baton Rouge) but it's my home so I go there whenever... Of course you can come see the babies. They will be waiting with plenty of kisses. Have you ever thought of coming down for Mardi Gras? Kinda wild. Summer is just too hot. We could pass you around to all the intercotees even slide over to the beach by Jamie and Rob.
Yorkies make great apt dogs.
I have my two older kids going up to NYC in a couple weeks. My DS's old college roommate is marrying a girl from CT. So of course they have to go to Manhattan for a day. Wish I was going...

No Dole Whip Machine yet.
My mom just got one of those Cuisinart soft serve machines... I see dole whip in the future. You and Patti will have to come down for a visit

Your Dads attitude will go along way towards recovery. Encourage him all you can.
He does frustrate me. I know Parkinson's is a horrible disease but he often succumbs to the symptoms :( He hasn't even tried to feed himself and when I asked him why he said b/c his head wasn't elevated enough. He gives up too easily and it frustrates me b/c I'm selfish and want him to keep fighting.
Patti and I designed the patio together. We have so much fun doing things together.
 do you have a twin...

Anyone watch the volleyball on the Olympics tonight?
I watched the beach volleyball both nights :cheer: sad about the women's basketball. Two girls from LSU were on the team. Frustrating with gymnastics too.

greetings from rain-soaked Jacksonville!
Hope everyone is well...does anyone have a canoe for me???
My ex was in hosp admin. so we spent many nights in the hosp with Hurricanes. Not as much fun as it sounds. Stay safe and dry. I don't have a canoe but my dd made a boat out of cardboard during orientation... They even won the race but it has already sunk once... I can send the plans.. with duct tape anything is possible!

So I made it through orientation w/ my dd. Purina fed us lunch and Hill's Science Diet catered the reception after the ceremony. My other two took off of work and it was a nice family affair. We took a tour of the facility which was very interesting. I took a lot of pics. They have one of the best small animal cancer units in the country... it's amazing.
Rachel's year will be a "Mike the Tiger" (LSU's mascot) year. The vet teams that work on the Bengal mix are only teams from even #'d years which is her year. Honestly I don't like the idea of my dd working with the tiger.
Side note... When at the orientation I met families from all over the country as there are only 28 vet schools in the US. There was 1 student from CT. and her mother was raising a ruckus b/c she didn't want her dd staying in a state w/ such unbearable heat. Hello the building has a/c??? Sad thing was we were having a very mild day as it was only 85, sticky and humid but not the usual heat. Who acts like that???
Speaking of Tigers... :cheer: only 15 days til the start of LSU football.... where are Scott and Diane???
Sending  to all... I tried to post yesterday but AIM froze and I rebooted and lost my post..
Just breezed through...

So I made it through orientation w/ my dd. Purina fed us lunch and Hill's Science Diet catered the reception after the ceremony.

Sounds like a good lunch. Kibble or canned food? :D

Yeah, those people from CT can't take any heat. Wimps. :D

That's good. I have a shirt that says, "If a man says something in the forest, and no one hears him, will he still be wrong"?

Anybody agree?

:rotfl: Absolutely!

Hi, folks, it's been a busy day, although good busy -- picnic and playground with the girls. Only two more days of summer for me... school starts on Monday. I know, I know... I'm lucky to have time off in the summer and am thankful for it, but boy is it hard to go back. My goal this year is simple: to slow down. Our lives get so hectic during the school year and that raises my stress level so quickly. Know what I mean?

I'll have to walk down to see you the next time you visit. Won't that be fun ???? :D

sure i would like that. would love to see my mom's face as i mention we met online.

He wants to know why you made them move all the way to Rochester just to stalk him. :D

hey now, my parents have been there.... i turn 41 this year....almost 42 years. i must have been real smart to plan this on the inside.

And if a husband says something in the forest and no human hears him, is he still wrong? :D (No need to answer, we already know what the JQ babes will say.)

its not just a if a husband speaks- its if a man speaks :D. i tell my husband his Y chromosome is for why ask why- its your fault.

DH is mad because I was with all of the residents...young, rich and cute!!!
Hope everyone is well...does anyone have a canoe for me???
paddles on their way. rich residents- HAH. just more in debt. think they're god's gift to nurses. sorry july was a rough trasition this year. i seriously think they(the first year residents) are getting dumber each year. either that or my tolerance has reached its end.

He said last night that we can give Maddy to a good home and get the bunny that I'm not allergic too..... Of course I said no way. I can't believe how giving and special he is. :cloud9: Isn't it cool that every time I think about him I still get goosebumps after knowng him for 30 years?

ahhhhhh, how sweet.

ok i am off to the showers and then the movies. did i have a question?

Well if they are using stats it's quite possible that they might miss the one a year your going to be allowed to get. I always ask my hubbie if he's sure he wants to use that up on whatever it is we are talking about. He normally then realizes it's likely in his best interest to change his mind.

Hugs and pixie dust to all who need them or would just like some. Any one got a cure for soreish arms and legs? It's not easy to suddenly play 4 games of softball after years of desk jobs.

Have a good rest of the morning, what's for lunch?
hot dog and fries from Five Guys. Anybody have one of these places near them? Gotta try it.

It almost sounds to me as if they were looking for there to be a connection.I know that children who grow up with pets are more likely to get grounded for breaking things they didn't break.

Any one got a cure for soreish arms and legs? It's not easy to suddenly play 4 games of softball after years of desk jobs.Catch your thumb under the seat of your lawnmower. You'll forget your arms and legs are sore. Speaking of which, I got a new mower yesterday. Brought it home, started it up, drove it off the trailer. Today, it stalled whenever I tried to put it into gear. I called Craftsman and got (the second time) a very knowledgeable woman who told me to readjust the seat forward so the kill switch under the seat didn't get a false signal. I'd have certainly never come up with that on my own. Two thumbs up for the Sears call center.

greetings from rain-soaked Jacksonville!
How has everyone been? I am not even going to try to catch up on the news around here..but if anyone wants to give me a quick update....
Fay is still drenching us and I am very leery of the tree in the front yard. Had to spend the night at the hospital last nite because we are on the trauma alert team! DH is mad because I was with all of the residents...young, rich and cute!!!
Hope everyone is well...does anyone have a canoe for me???

I hope Fay passes, sorry - no canoe I can offer you either.

Has your husband been watching too much Grey's Anatomy?

Well actually, I'm not writing the check for about a month. I'll put the balance on my Disney Visa Card and get the points, and then write a check to pay off the card. So I guess you'd say that putting the patio in will buy us dinner at WDW. Pretty smart, eh ?????

Very smart! :mickey: And you even got a Canadianism in there too,eh?!:number1:

Okay, this is my fond farewell. Pogo was right I am checking in one last time. I have to work 6 more hours and then back home and up at o'dark thirty for the flight to Orlando. We shall see.

Everyone behave themselves okay? And I'll check in when I return. Stay safe too, okay? I'll think of you all tomorrow.

 Have a great trip!

Hey all, just checking in to see what is happening. Looks like it is the same old silliness here.

:pixie: I hope the back feels better soon! :swim:

5 guys, never heard of them

Congrats on the new mower & the awesome customer service from Sears!

That is interesting about the kill switch underneath the seat causing a false signal. I wrote the other day that I had to take the van in due to a dash light - similar thing. Apparently with our van (Honda Odyssey) if there is anything in the passenger seat over 10lbs while you are driving and the item shifts, the van thinks there may be a kid crawling around and de-activates the airbag so it won't inflate and hit the kit. The crazy thing is that the only way to reset/override the signal is to take it to the dealership and have them reset it. One dealership wanted $95 and the other wanted $50. :jaw: Oh well, had to pay to get it reset, and now I know - no more cases of water on the front seat, or, it could have been the baby diaper bag - those creatures do not travel light!

I guess I had better go do some dinner prep - Benjie is still napping from the water park, he's been down for 3 hours!!!

My other question for the people who did this study is why would you ever even think to study such a link in the first place? It almost sounds to me as if they were looking for there to be a connection.

Sorry about all the continuing back pain :(

The 'research' seems to be European based and I have never heard of them or the Journal they were published in. See below:

Thinking of buying a pet for junior? Consider this: children who grow up in the company of cats, dogs or other furry friends are more likely to become snoring adults, according to a new study.

Snoring is no laughing matter. Besides sleep deprivation -- for the snorer, and especially for anyone within earshot -- snoring is linked to more serious consequences.

It increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, such as heart attacks or a stroke, and can even result in premature death.

Earlier research has shown that a tendency to snore can be established early in life.

To find out why, researchers led by Karl Franklin of University Hospital in Umea, Sweden asked more than 15,500 randomly selected people in Nordic countries about their early childhood, and their snoring habits.

Just over 18 percent of the respondents fit the profile of habitual snorers, defined as "loud and disturbing snoring at least three nights in a week."

The childhood "risk" factors most associated with this group were exposure to animals, early respiratory or ear infections, and -- oddly enough -- living in a large family.

Newborns in contact with dogs, they found, were among the most likely to become nocturnal noisemakers when they grew up.

"These factors may enhance inflammatory processes and thereby alter upper airway anatomy early in life, causing an increased susceptibility for adult snoring," the study conjectured.

The harsh, occasionally nerve-wracking sounds associated with snoring are caused the vibrating of the soft palate.

The study was published in the Britain-based BioMed Central's journal Resipiratory Research.

Talking of things I have never heard of: can you believe how well GB is doing at the Olympics? :D

Thanks Sarah, I'll be ready, don't you worry ;)

I had a nice lunch with my dad actually. We didn't talk about how bummed out I am about him leaving, we just talked about regular stuff. I'm kinda mad at him which I guess I shouldn't be, just hurt I guess.

I'll send you a PM with the website for the CM appreciation cards!

I watched the beach volleyball both nights :cheer: sad about the women's basketball. Two girls from LSU were on the team. Frustrating with gymnastics too.

I have been up late three nights in a row watching something. First it was Shawn Johnson getting the gold on the beam, then the girls beach volleyball gold (I love Keri and Misty, they're the best), then last night it was the men's bean volleyball. I love that guy, "the thin beast" Too funny! :D

So, anyone doing anything fun tonight or this weekend? I'm headed off to clean up my house (FUN) and then veg out a bit. I committed myself to work the mobile adoptions tomorrow, so I better get some rest. Hope you all have a great one, I'll try to check in later

Are ya jealous?

Don't these guys realize that its the kids they are hurting, and not the "ex"?

Well I'm off to the grocery store. We finally convinced the in-laws to eat dinners out this time. Who wants to cook on vacation? So we just need some breakfast and lunch foods, some snacks, and of course some rum! See ya!

Kind of like the movie, "Hope Floats". You're the lucky one Traci - we have a grandson that just turned 17 - and we're not even allowed to send him a birthday check. Sad part is, we don't know why. I'd love to hear an "outdoor" voice, so give Carter a hug from an "honorary" gramma. Your family will always know the difference between a mouse and a rat.

Boy, runners, runners everywhere! And we get to follow them to the beach tomorrow!! What a mess, running through the city, though. Especially since each team has a chase van that follows. Fortunately they are heading to the beach about 10 miles north of where we will be.

So, taking a break from packing stuff up. Who knew that you could pack that much for a 4 day trip to the coast? Oh well. If it fits in the car without leaving a kid behind, we're OK. I'm taking my 'puter, but don't know what the situation is for connecting. This (http://www.tolovanainn.com)is where we are staying. Keep your fingers crossed for some decent weather. What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

Sarah good luck at the adoption centre today. Rhonda good luck with the project. Jym why would you think I mow lawns? What kind of shoe would one need to mow lawns anyway?

So does anyone have anything fun planned for the day? I think we're just relaxing for the day, tomorrow we're going to a car show (we get in free because of the 64 1/2 Mustang) it's only about 2 miles away. Yay! I think Bruce is going to work on his electrolizers (sp?) he's made these contraptions that convert cars to run on hydrogen and gas. They work real well, he's brought the gas milage on the old stang up to 18 1/2 MPG as opposed to the 14 it was getting not a huge difference I know but every little bit helps. Every time he tweaks it, it gets more MPG. Cool huh?

The last but most important class of the day will start at 1:30 pm and end when everyone has passed out, that class would be

Margarita & cookie making and tasting 101
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! hugs to all.
You guys think I have WAY too much time on my hands?
I'll have to skip all the classes today. Besides, I'm already in Grad School earning my PHD in Margarita making and drinking ! :D

Hi all! Coffee anyone?
Traci good luck with the college loan stuff.
Sarah good luck at the adoption centre today. Rhonda good luck with the project. Jym why would you think I mow lawns? What kind of shoe would one need to mow lawns anyway?
I had to get new shoes for the softball game. Somehow I didn't own any lace up proper running shoes. How odd is that? (However I found a cool pair of skechers sandals at the same time so I was pretty happy about that!)
Just what you need.... more shoes !:party2:

Marilyn, Sorry to hear about not being able to see your DGS. I will share Carter if you'd like. You can never have too many people in a childs life.(well good people at least) He has a Gramma(Bryants Gram), Mi-Mi(my mom), GrammieBryants mom), and he made up the name Nay-Nay for me (I don't know where he got it but I LOVE it, he just started crying one day as I was going out the door and was saying Nay-Nay and that's what he's called me since). Would you like to be Gram-Gram or Nana?

Or.... she could be called Gram Cracker ! :D

I'll probably be lurking tonight and maybe even Monday. Patti and I are off until Tuesday so I'll try to check in when I can.

As T&G said..... BEHAVE Sarah and Kate ! :D

Well my plans are now set for the weekend...:rain: Fay decided to head this way before heading north. I have to say she is an odd one. I'm sure she'll be a wash (lots of rain) and the possibility of tornadoes. But I don't want to run around town with flooded streets.

Sounds like a good lunch. Kibble or canned food?
Yeah, those people from CT can't take any heat. Wimps.

They did serve us ppl food and in fact the Hill Science food was better. I think they just spent more but then their food does cost more and they like to have the vet's sell it in their practice if they have one.
I wonder if my friend from CT is having a cow by this point? Wait til she finds out we don't have 4 seasons here. It will remain hot through much of Oct then get mild a few cold days and then spring comes for a few weeks.

we have a grandson that just turned 17 - and we're not even allowed to send him a birthday check.
It's so sad... my kids would have loved to have two sets of grandparents. When I left my ex the entire family banned us. Sad thing is that its the kids who suffer.

OK now down to business, could you all try a little harder with the pixie We got the emergency loan papers from the college, and found out that if she got the loan she would have to repay it within 30 days  Her aid and student loan won't be in untill Oct. and she needs her books for orientation on wednesday! Traci :pixie: headed your way. It's not uncommon for them to old $$. Usually they give them enough for books. I believe they have extensions but it's just a way to get more fees and $$ from you
Has she tried to order books online? My dd would order books even from Wal-Mart. You would be surprised to find the books they stock online. Amazon of course is another great site for school books. Sometimes you can get a used one for a fraction of the cost. Another trick is to ask if the Library has a copy or ask the professor to put one on reserve and xerox the chapters you need for the class until your book arrives. We have done university on a dime here many times.

Boy, runners, runners everywhere!
So, taking a break from packing stuff up. Who knew that you could pack that much for a 4 day trip to the coast? Oh well. If it fits in the car without leaving a kid behind, we're OK. I'm taking my 'puter, but don't know what the situation is for connecting. This is where we are staying. Keep your fingers crossed for some decent weather. See you late Tuesday (or before, if I can connect)!! BEHAVE!
Which rock is your room? Kind of reminds me of the Harry Potter movie... ;) have a great time.

Did they serve people food?

Yes, we got people food and Hill Science Diet actually tasted better.

The schedule will be as follows-
9:30 am- Road-kill collection 101
10:00am- Road-kill preparation 101
10:45am- Road-kill recipes 101
11:50am- Redneck english 101
Following this class there will be a short break for lunch to test the recipes your fellow students made in Road-kill recipes.
You guys think I have WAY too much time on my hands?
I'm interested in a Sociology class.. can I enroll in a 200 level course? maybe Coon dogs, Stills and the law???

Well, my mom wants me to take her to get hurricane supplies... I'm pretty sure we won't even lose power, that this will just be more a nuisance than danger. I won't be stupid though. Fortunately we are on the same power grid as the state police so we had power 8 hours after Katrina while many ppl in town waited 3 weeks.
I'm planning on moving this weekend..
Not the house, just the computer. I bought a new desk yesterday. One I can store more junk on :D
Can anyone help me lift this box?
Have a great weekend all...

WOW, I'm honored, really. Anything would be fine. My DD used to call my mom "gabby" - I always liked that. I feel a shower coming on. Can I have a donut in his honor? DD is re-opening today or tomorrow.

You'll be fine with Carter. Love goes a lot further than genetics, and I think Jake knows we love him. When he's 18, (maybe he'll come around and want us). We'll be there for him, and Carter will ALWAYS remember you.:D

I will promise to behave but I can not speak for Sarah and Kate. You know how they are. :D

As T&G said..... BEHAVE Sarah and Kate ! :D
What??? Are you talking about ME? I'm the best behaved here, truly I am!

And yet another reason why we don't have a pet. That and the fact we are never home to take of them.
But you know what? Couldn't live my life without them. They are the best thing that has happened to me. I always tell people there was a time when they were the only things happy to see me. For that I'm indebted to them for life, it wouldn't be worth it without them! :puppy:

Or.... she could be called Gram Cracker ! :D
:shake:

So I just got back from the mobile, no adoptions while I was there :( Lots of lookers but no one wanted to take a baby home. Hope you all are having a good day, I'm going to go lay down for a bit. to you all!!

No quotes, just a hello to everyone today .

Just trying to enjoy our second to last day before work starts again... and get some final projects done. I'm going through the girls' baby clothes so I can bring them to the consignment store. So many memories! I can't believe how quickly they've grown.

And tonight my DH and I are going out for sushi AND a movie!! Can't tell you the last time we did that. We're going to see Vicki Christina Barcelona, the new Woody Allen movie. I'm really going to see the scenery, as Barcelona will always hold a special place in my heart.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Anyone feel like joining us for sushi tonight?

Today is just hanging around the resort with family and tomorrow is the Great NY State Fair. We are going to see the Outlaws perform. This is the band that tried to recruit me back in the 80's and I haven't seen them since.
Small-world dept.. When we visited with Pogo and Pattie at Myrtle Beach, we talked about the Outlaws and the fact that DW's ex's sister had been married once to a member of the group, Henry Paul.

I got the 'lawn' weed-eated today and washed the RV. Amazing how dirty the RV looked once I satarted washing it. It's sparkling clean now, ready for our next JQ trip, whenever that may be.

Who's got supper on?

Gram cracker would be fine with me, but a nine month old would say "qwacker", or "crapper". I might look like a duck, and walk like a duck, but hmmmmmmm.....

BTW, we believe that our DGS WILL want to re-connect one day - I just have to think that. They only live four mile from us, and I have no idea what they've told him because we don't know either. We love him, and had a great relationship until four years ago, then,???????

Pogo, now I'm a little older than you are, and don't remember the Outlaws. (Of course, I barely remember Thursday). You say, a band of Outlaws tried to engage you?:D

So funny news. I am still here. Long story short, I couldn't get into the Korean consulate to get my Visa until this coming Monday, so my flight is going to be this coming Thursday. So YAY for another week of packing! I also got to see a movie that just came out yesterday, and this incredible jazz singer Melody Gardot (check her out!) last night. So good news in thats sense. bad news is I sprained my knee playing frisbee Monday, followed by getting burned at this bonfire a couple nights ago, by a friend who wanted to chop this burning/searing log into the fire, and instead of folding and going into the fire, it flew into like a million pieces, all directly at me...lol. I am fine, clothes burned a bit, and one minor burn...took all the hair off that tiny section on my arm...lol...oh well! :) Anyone want to bet on the next setback????! ;)

So what is everyone up to today? I going to be sewing but we are also heading out to find some stuff for our lawn. The other day I bought a couple of solar lights(one has a copper dragonfly and the other is a copper butterfly) and I want another dragonfly. We also want to get a lawn ornament, which could be interesting, because we can't agree what to get. I want Mickey Mouse, but we figured that would get stolen and he wants a gnome, which I think would look tacky, so we need to find something we can agree on.

Morning all, I'm up earlier than I wanted to be but Ms. Daisy was outside again this morning. I was giving away dogs yesterday, now I'm giving away, one big, fat, lazy, escaping, Daisy Marie! Any takers??? Why can't she just stay in the house??? We thought Minnie would be the problem with this but no, it's Daisy. Going to drive me crazy!!

So I'll be getting ready soon and heading off to the big dog walk, should be a fun time and then I'll probably need a nap.

I went to the mall last night and couldn't believe the sales they were having. I love Bath and Body Works and I had a coupon. They were having 5 for $15 on their hand soaps and buy 3 signature collection get 2 free plus my coupon. So as she's ringing everything up it comes to almost $80 and then she starts processing the discount, and scans my coupons. I got out of there for $35 for almost $80 worth of stuff!! WOO HOO, you can't beat that with a stick. And then the Disney Store had a Mickey purse on sale for $9.99. Too cute. I could have spent a lot more but didn't, I restrained so I could spend my money at Disney.

Have a wonderful day everyone, I'll check in later  love ya!

Does anyone know the correct spelling for supercalafragilisticexpyalidocious?
I saw Mary Poppins last Sunday on Broadway and the correct spelling is: super-calif-ragilistic-expialidocious. Now a great question is: What color was George Washington's white horse??? Any takers?

Afternoon/evening all. I just got up from resting a bit. I went to the dog walk and it was ok. Really unorganized and they brought some really crazy dogs. I got this little boxer/pitt mix that just wanted to chew on my shoes. Doesn't make for good walking. It was so hot too, made it hard to get motivated. Looks like we got one adoption out of the time I was there so I guess that was worth it then.

Now I guess I'll go and clean up the house a bit. Not feeling quite myself right now I guess. It looks like Mike's uncle back in Rochester is going to pass tonight. Then his Grandmother will be next, sounds like his Grandpa's not doing too well either. This isn't going to be a good month, I can feel it. Hope you all are having a better day. to you all!

Pretty sure I missed a questions, anyone have one to spare? Thanks

Hi all, just a quick note to let you know I'm still here! Things are picking up speed... trying to get everything done before work starts tomorrow. Thankfully the kids don't come in until Weds, so I only have to deal with adults tomorrow. :)

Sarah, hugs to you and I hope this next month isn't too bad for you and hubby...

Pogo, hope you enjoyed the fair...

Ken, happy anniversary to you and your wife!

And to all, best wishes for a good work week. I will only be able to check the thread in the evenings, as Intercot is banned from my workplace. :(

Sorry to hear that Daisy is frustrating you. :pixie: for it to get better! I'm a B&BW nut myself. Because of the EDS my skin cracks, gets raw, bleeds etc. and B&BW is the only type of hand soap that doesn't do that. Sounds like you found a good deal at the Disney store too. Ours closed down  We miss it like crazy. It was the one way to get our Disney fix that's close to home. Not to mention that they ALWAYS had t-shirts on sale. You wouldn't believe the shirts we got for 2 to 4 dollars.

Good morning JQ'ers, the coffee and hot water (for chocolate and tea and what not) are ready for our enjoyment. As well as juices and sodas for those who have never tried a hot beverage. Now has anyone seen mauimouse(sp) around here? :D I did yesterday at TTA unload. I know, I know I should have posted about that yesterday, but I didn't want to disturb PirateGal aka Mom whilst she was sleeping. Did I ever tell you PirateGal works the graveyard shift at the All Stars? :D Next weekend I'll be working only one of the weekend days. Which will be Saturday, because next week I start training. Hey Rhonda, glad you made it OK through the working weekend.

OK, good morning yet again to all of you JQ pals. So today is the anniversary of my brothers death. Don't get sad, I was the luckiest girl in the world to have had such a wonderful brother. He's been gone 29 years this year. I lost my father and sister also before I was 30. But this isn't a pity party, I wanted to share that even though I lost 3/4 of my family (all that's left is mom) I have been one of the most blessed people on earth. I grew up in a loving home where my family was my best friend. As a child my friends always wanted to come to our house to play and stay the night. They always said it felt like coming home. As a matter of fact a girl I knew from school thought she was pregnant and came to my mom to talk and take the test and then my parents helped her break the news to her parents. My parents were very much in love, I don't remember a day when they didn't hold hands, touch each other tenderly or just look at each other in such a way that you could see the love. The day my dad found out he had cancer he went home and shut himself in their bedroom for about an hour. None of us knew at the time why but when he passed away my aunt, who is my moms identical twin, brought over a letter. It turns out that when he had gone into the bedroom on the day he found out he was sick, he had written a letter and then had given it to my aunt to give my mom after he died. In the letter he talked about how it was love at first sight with my mom, that she was his true love and that he would wait for her at the gates of heaven. But for her to remember that he was dead, not her, and he wanted her to move on and live life. He reminisced about the days each of us children were born and various other special occasions in our lives.
We told each other we loved each other everyday and we never got off the phone, went to bed, or left the house mad. Those 1950's tv families had nothing on us. :D

My point in sharing this is that I'm having a mushy day, I couldn't have been luckier than I have been in my life. I wouldn't trade the short years I had with my whole family for 100 years with another.
Maybe I'm too mushy but I kind of see you guys as family as well and have been so blessed to have such wonderful people as you all. Each and every one of you have brought something special, unique and irreplaceable into my life and I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much!

Nah, I think it's just a little dust or something in my eye. I think you're right, the short time you had with them and their loving relationships is worth a lifetime with many other types of families. Unfortunately, I never got to see anything like that with my parents, who split when I was about 8 and divorced when I was twelve.

Thanks to all for the good wishes on our anniversary. We actually wound up having a nice day with my mother, stepfather, sister and her brood yesterday at Myrtle Beach. In past years, it's been a little weird at times.

Anybody else have the gray rainys today?

Morning all! It's been a long night. At last we spoke to Mike's Aunt, his Uncle Jim was resting comfortably. They had given him some strong pain medication and he was unconcious. His BP was stable and things were going ok but they weren't sure if he'd make it through the night. We didn't hear back so I'm not sure if he did or not. Mike is having a rough time, so if you could send some prayers his way. A lot has come crashing down on him in the past few weeks.

So many things are up in the air right now. He is seriously contemplating jumping on his motorcycle and driving across country to visit all of his family. If that happens he will probably not be going to WDW with me and my parents. I would understand, I'm just trying to make sure as many plans are made as quickly as possible.

Traci, thanks for making us all appreciate what we have when we have it. I think Mike is realizing that very much this week.

And how am I you might ask? Hanging in there, just trying to deal with my parents leaving and supporting Mike as much as I can. Work is busy today since it's Monday, so I'll check in again when I can. to you all!

Hi all! Just doing a quick zoop in to see what is going on this morning. It looks pretty quiet around here today. Oh, and before I forget here are some  and :pixie: for those who need it today.

There really isn't much going on around here today. I am trying to recover from the weekend. I spent the day on Saturday and part of the day on Sunday at a car show called the Frog Follies in Evansville Indiana. Talk about a car show! They have something like 4-5 thousand cars and a vendors area that is absolutely huge! what makes it especially amazing is that this show is only for vehicles that are 1948 or older. Can you imagine how many vehicles they would have if they did newer vehicles as well?

I am not a particularly strong gear head but a good friend of mine is so I spent the weekend with him as he showed his 1948 Chevy truck. We really had a good time just wandering around looking at everything. Needless to say though, with that many vehicles we never saw them all!

The weather didn't help matters either! It wasn't that particularly hot with highs only in the upper '80's but the humidity was off the scale! I heard a weather report on the radio that said we were having 90% humidity!

Anyway, I don't really know much. I am trying to stay flat on my back as much as I can to rest my back from the weekend.

Keep yourselves healthy and happy and I will check back in when I can!

You're not mushy. My dad died suddenly in 1964 at the age of 48, and mom and I talk about him lots. Doing this scrapbook, has yielded stories that fit the pictures, and she's looking forward to seeing him again. (She thinks he won't know her because she looks "old"), but I don't think that's a problem.

When you lose somebody, you can't help but remember all the joy. My dad never walked - he had polio when he was a baby, but he never thought of himself as crippled, and did everything for us that his body would allow. The rest? he figured out another way to do it.

Anniversaries are hard. Here's a:hug: Your brother sounds like he was extra special.

OK, I have now officially just about had it with my back and all its problems!:mad: I just came from a doctor visit to discuss why I am having increased pain down my right leg now (previous issues had primarily been down the left leg.) Anyway, after reviewing the latest x-rays and c-t scan (I can no longer have an MRI done because of the spinal stimulater implanted in my back) they have determined that I have another ruptured disc and am going to have to undergo back surgery number 9 to correct it.:mad:

As you can imagine, I am not in a very good frame of mind right now! I am not one to normally get very angry or to break down and actually cry, but I think I did both in the doctor's office. Obviously my wife, the doctor, and his staff, all tried to console and comfort me as much as they could but despite that I did not do well with my reaction to the news.

Now I have to decide what I want to do. Do I go ahead and have the surgery and take all the risks that come with that? Or, do I wait as long as I can and just continue to deal with the pain? As emotional as I am right now I think I am going to take a few weeks to consider my options before I make a decision.

Anyway, I am certainly glad I had a good weekend before coming back to this news or I don't know how I would have reacted to it. All in all, I am just absolutely sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time!

You have hit the nail right on the head. Everyone in the family is so worn out by all of this that we don't have much left to say about it. What can you say when you have already had 3 back surgeries, 4 bouts of kidney stones, a bout with cancer, and a mild heart attack all in the last six months and now they tell you that you need yet another back surgery?

However, I do appreciate the  and :pixie:, none of us can ever have enough of them! Thanks!

Jasper  I'm so sorry to hear this. I have an idea where you are coming from. Of course I haven't gone through the same exact thing but I have had several years of misdiagnosis, operations, blood transfusions, etc. It gets to the point where you just don't think you can take anymore. But you can, even if you feel you don't want to. I also know that somedays, even with all of the pain and other complications of my disease, that it can be harder on Bruce than me. Does that makes any sense? You are obviously strong or you wouldn't have come this far. I try to think that no matter what happens to me that it all happens for a reason. I know a lot of people use that line but I believe it. Facing the challenges that I have in my life have mad me exactly who I am today and I wouldn't change it. Sure, somedays stink, especially if I think about the fact that odds are I won't watch my grandbaby grow up. Heck, I may not even get to see my DS grow up but all of the beauty that I have seen in this world is worth going through every bit of ugliness I have faced. Eveybody has bad days, and everyone is entitled to a "poor me" day but I know from what you have already been through that you will take this in stride. You and your family have not fought to come all this way to give up now. I firmly believe that someday soon things will turn around for you. Until then, please take all of the :pixie: and  that you and your family need.

Jasper, I'm so sorry you're going through this, seems like you've already been through so much. Here's a BIG  and a HUGE dose of :pixie: hoping that things get better for you!!

Mike and I went to lunch. He seems to be doing ok. He's been staying busy and trying to keep his mind off of everything. Thank goodness there are so many things going right now that we have lots to keep our minds occupied.

What did everyone have for lunch? We went to an italian buffet place which is actually really good. They have really gormet pizza which hit the spot!

Hope you all have a great afternoon!

First of all thank you and everyone else for your thoughts, concern and prayers. And yes, you are right on track that today is without a doubt one of the worst "poor me" days I have ever had! That is why I am spending my time here at Intercot so that I don't have to dwell on my situation and can get a lift from all things Disney. I am sure that you are quite familiar on days like this how you wonder what you ever did do deserve this.

I also have to call the doctor's office later and apologize to one of the nurses. The poor guy walked in the room to do some paperwork and was just making casual conversation and when he commented about how many surgeries I have already had I unloaded on him! Thank goodness they all know me well enough in there that they will forgive me my rashness!

So what am I going to do for a question?

I wish I knew...I sit here and something pops into my head. I can be sleeping and something pops into my head...sometime remind me to post the picture of the front of a quilt that popped up in my head at 3am. It was all hand sewn except for the blocks. I called it The Awakening because it was done on my sleepless nights. It still needs to be quilted, which I'm also going to do by hand.

Jasper, we're all allowed those poor me days and I think you've had more then your share of trouble that you can have lots of those days!!

Hey Pogo are you awake yet?

You have hit the nail right on the head. Everyone in the family is so worn out by all of this that we don't have much left to say about it. What can you say when you have already had 3 back surgeries, 4 bouts of kidney stones, a bout with cancer, and a mild heart attack all in the last six months and now they tell you that you need yet another back surgery?

However, I do appreciate the  and :pixie:, none of us can ever have enough of them! Thanks!

Carol, your work is beautiful.

Jasper, hang in there! WE will put you on our big time prayer list. God bless you! I didn't realize you had been through so much.

102 days out for Disney for me and a few more than that before I see some of my best friends n the world! Will someone pinch me please?

Traci, what a wonderful outlook you have. You are a very thoughtful and insightful person -- your family is blessed to have you, especially that cute grandbaby of yours. :)

Sarah, hugs to you and Mike. How nice that you have each other to lean on.

Jasper, I'm so sorry to hear of your health situation. Prayers and pixie dust sent your way!

Carol, that table runner is beautiful! You have a great eye for color. I'm starting on my cake for the fair tonight ("Teddy Bear Picnic"). Once I get some of the pieces done I'll post pics.

Well, as for me, the first day of school is always the best one. I'm well rested, optimistic, and only have to deal with meetings (no kids). Tomorrow gets a little more complicated since we have to prepare for classes on Weds and have more meetings. I announced the contest to everyone at the staff meeting, though, and had many people tell me that they had voted for my caption. It's funny, when I made the announcement I felt like I was 'coming out of the closet' as a Disney fan! A couple of people at school knew my Disney obsession before but now everyone knows...

Take care everyone --
Kathy

Hi guys!! We're back from our little "heaven on earth" excursion, well-rested, a little sun-burned and happy... it went by WAY too fast, but I guess that's the sign of a good vacation, right? I'm SO glad we chose to go early... it meant a late night on Thursday (we didn't get to the inn 'til almost 1am...) but it made for a great day on Friday, as we were able to roll out of bed and hit the beach pretty early. The weather was awesome... the innkeepers and pretty much everyone in town said it was the best 3-4 days of the summer! I'll try to post a few pics tomorrow... for now, I've just finished (trying) to catch up on all your pages since I've been gone, laundry's done, we're unpacked and the kids are off to bed after an evening of enjoying our house again, and now we're off to bed in a bit!

Have I got a deal for you ! If you bring back lobsters, I'll cook them for you and we can have another get together.

I so wish we could've brought 'em... we even found a lobster pound that had them for 5.59/lb!! But we knew we wouldn't be able to cook 'em tonight, and they wouldn't have made it 'til tomorrow. Plus, tomorrow is Julia's birthday dinner out, so we opted to just buy some here soon and we'll do the same.... we used to do them all the time in our other house. When do you guys want to come out?? :D

Have a great time!! We are heading the opposite direction early Saturday. Say hello to the Atlantic for me, and I'll say hi to the Pacific for you!!

Done... I hope you're having a great time!!

If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad Dog?
:hi: Jenn!! I've missed you around here!!

p.s. won't blythe be proud of me- over 400 posts
I'm VERY proud of you!! :clappy:

yes i know, we might have a chance if we kidnap her and tie up her hands for about 10years. what do you think??

No way, no how. :D

We had a wonderful time at the Fair today and the weather held up for us.
Glad to hear you had a nice day... thanks so much for checking in! It was weird to have my two favorite worlds collide!

We are planning to head to the Fair tomorrow... hopefully, the weather will cooperate!

i have big plans for my days off, wallpaper removal, prime, paint. yard work. once again it looks good on paper but to actually get it all done...

So... did you get it done??

My point in sharing this is that I'm having a mushy day, I couldn't have been luckier than I have been in my life. I wouldn't trade the short years I had with my whole family for 100 years with another.

Maybe I'm too mushy but I kind of see you guys as family as well and have been so blessed to have such wonderful people as you all. Each and every one of you have brought something special, unique and irreplaceable into my life and I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much!

You are so lucky to have had that.... what a wonderful blessing.

Ditto -- I am always amazed and thankful for this site and this group, it is definitely an extended family to me and such a wonderful and important part of my life now that I can't imagine not having it.

And how am I you might ask? Hanging in there, just trying to deal with my parents leaving and supporting Mike as much as I can.
Sarah, I hope things get better for you guys... I know how tough it can be to just try to be there for someone... it's draining and a very hard job in and of itself. I hope Mike is doing okay.... I'm sure with you there, he's far better than he'd be otherwise.

Anyway, I am certainly glad I had a good weekend before coming back to this news or I don't know how I would have reacted to it. All in all, I am just absolutely sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time!
Jasper, I am SO sorry to hear your news... I sure hope things get better and turned around for you soon. Sending loads of prayers and :pixie: your way... you have an amazing spirit and attitude through this all, even when you get frustrated, which you have every right to do. I hope this week brings some better news for you...

Cindy, I'm glad to hear things are going well -- your inn looks awesome! And the view... wow, just beautiful. And I'd love to try some of your taffy... would you like to try some Atlantic salt water kind, too? We've got 2 boxes of our favorite...

Ken and Mary, a belated Happy Anniversary wish... I'm glad you guys had a nice weekend!!

Okay, I've got to run... I started this post an hour ago, but had to keep pausing to turn over laundry and tuck kids in... and some snuggle time on the couch with our almost 10 year old. I can't believe that at 5:32 am, Julia will be "double-digits"... the years have just flown by. So, Dan and I snuggled with her and told her stories of her babyhood... and our big, old-man cat jumped up to share with us as he must have missed us while we were gone! So now, it's time to head off to bed and catch up on a little sleep... I was up and on the beach this morning at 6:30.

See you guys in the morning... I missed you all, and am so glad to be back here with you!

And, yes, I'll take some peach cobbler, let me just go get a glass of milk.

What is everyone up to this fine evening?

Just got done paying all the bills. We're trying to get everything paid before we leave for WDW. That way when we come back there won't be much left to pay. Now I'm off to take a bath and head to bed. I'm camping out on the couch tonight to spray Daisy anytime she gets near the dog door. Last night I sprayed her at least five times before she gave up, we'll see how brave she is tonight.

I'm glad to hear your trip is going so well... that's awesome. I'd love some wine, but as I just got up an hour ago, I s'pose I ought to wait....

We did the whole Corona on the porch thing ourselves, and Dan had to laugh - I think it was our second day there, and the girls were showering while he was enjoying one on the porch, having a bit of solitude, and a man and his family walked by. The man looked up at Dan, stopped & gazed longingly at his Corona and said, "Honey, I think we have to go to the grocer's..." :D (Here's a pic of our inn (http://picasaweb.google.com/Blytheny/MainePics) and the view from the porch.... :cloud9: ... okay, I threw a few other pics in there, too... )

Can ya's believe it's almost September already?

Nope!! It sure snuck up on us, didn't it??? I'm ready & not ready at the same time.... it'll be good to get back into a regular routine & it's GREAT that our trip is so much closer... but I hope we have a little bit of warm weather in September, it's just been too cool and rainy this summer to really feel like we had a summer!!

Any special plans?
Yup!! My Julia turns 10 today (actually, she turned 10 at 5:30...) so we're off to the Fair for the day (after Dan gets home w/ my Pilot from the shop -- my brakes were grinding terribly Sunday and yesterday on the way home, bad enough that he banned me from using the car 'til it got fixed. So, that was a bit of unwelcome post-vacation spending...) Anyhoo... then it's off to the "big event" after the Fair -- Julia's getting her ears pierced! She can't wait... and I think it'll be super fun for her... but Emma's doing the whole "but I have to wait 3 more years, mommy!!!" ;)

Quick update on our cousin... he's still what they're calling "acutely critical" and after a wee bit of improvement on Friday, he's not shown much sign of getting better yet. His mom and brother are still down there, but his brother has to leave, so Dan's mom is probably headed down in a day or so, as her sister is having a really hard time. So, unfort., it looks like she won't be here to celebrate with Julia this weekend - :( - but it's totally understandable, and Julia's pretty much okay with it.

So, when I was unpacking last evening, I had the wonderful task of re-filling our shampoo and lotion bottles, etc.... for DECEMBER!!! :santa3: Boy was that a great feeling.... I hadn't really though about the fact that our Maine trip was our last "packing" trip 'til then, so when it hit last night, I got SO excited!! Dan said that's the cheeriest he's ever seen me post-Maine... usually, I'm in my "gloomy place" for a day or two. I admit, I did really miss the beach this morning and hearing the surf at night... but knowing you've got Disney on the horizon sure helps!! :D

So, how's Tuesday morning treating everyone?? Totally feels like Monday to me, I have a feeling this next week is going to just disappear on me. I'm working Wed/Thurs nights and Julia's sleepover is Friday... then we're off the the Fair again Saturday, and her family party is Sunday. Yipes!

I hope you guys are having a good morning -- I'll catch back up later. Toodles!

First things first this morning,
:party2:HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS JULIA!!!!!! :cake:

Mike and I went to lunch. He seems to be doing ok. He's been staying busy and trying to keep his mind off of everything. Thank goodness there are so many things going right now that we have lots to keep our minds occupied.
Sarah, I'm still sending happy thouhts to you and Mike. You guys are also still in my prayers every night and pixie dust in hopes that things get better.

Yes Jasper, I am quite familiar with the "I must have done something truly horrible to deserve this" feeling. I think anyone who has a chronic illness knows that feeling all to well. Most days try not to take it personal, God didn't do this on purpose as some kind of cosmic payback. My mom used to say "They say that which does not kill us makes us stronger, well I think I'm being trained to be Gods personal body guard."
I'm glad that when you have a bad day you come here and lean on us, I have a habit of withdrawing, I think I'll start taking lessons from you. ;)

i've had a very busy day today. got home from work and my husband is sitting on the couch looking pathetic. he has the stomach bug. ok- change in plans- out to store for gatoraid, jello, crackers and soup. back home i left him on the couch and slept till 1:30pm- got up and went to home depot. got 80% of the yard work done. i need more topsoil. so i just caught up on some olympics and made him dinner. ohhhhhh, here's my question. why do men turn into 5year olds when they get sick??

ok i am off to bed. keep your fingers crossed he kept his germs to himself.

:pixie: for your DH and in hopes that you don't get it!

You are so lucky to have had that.... what a wonderful blessing.

Ditto -- I am always amazed and thankful for this site and this group, it is definitely an extended family to me and such a wonderful and important part of my life now that I can't imagine not having it.

I couldn't agree more about me being blessed and about how important this group of people is!

. Now I'm off to take a bath and head to bed. I'm camping out on the couch tonight to spray Daisy anytime she gets near the dog door. Last night I sprayed her at least five times before she gave up, we'll see how brave she is tonight.
Howdid it go Sarah?

Are you really a taxi driver ????
I wish, the pay would be better. Actually Bryant works less than 5 miles from here so I told him that I will give him rides to work until after WDW. He despeately needs to work as much as he can to save money for the trip in two weeks.

good morning all. can someone please pass me the bottle of motrin? i way overdid it yesterday. my back is saying very bad things to me today. i'm going to be very lazy today. so hopefully tomorrow i can do something.
:pixie: hope it gets better real quick! Take it easy and rest.

:pixie: for yor cousin and everyone else involved.
Well yo wonderful people I hope you al enjoy the rest of your morning and that this new days treats you well!!! and love to all

Hi guys!! We're back from our little "heaven on earth" excursion, well-rested, a little sun-burned and happy... it went by WAY too fast, but I guess that's the sign of a good vacation, right? Sarah, I hope things get better for you guys... I know how tough it can be to just try to be there for someone... it's draining and a very hard job in and of itself. I hope Mike is doing okay.... I'm sure with you there, he's far better than he'd be otherwise.

Welcome home Blythe!! We missed you!! Thanks for your support too, I appreciate it. Mike's uncle passed away last night around 3:00 am. He's hanging in there, but he seems to be in a panic to get back and see everyone like he's afraid they'll all die before he gets a chance. I told him to make up his mind and he's going to have to decide what to do.

i want to apologize if my post about men who are sick and are whiney offends anyone. i felt like an idiot when i went back and read through the posts. Jasper- you are going through so much. you are in my thoughts. i really feel like i put my foot in my mouth. ok, i will read first before i post in the future.

Kate, no need to apologize, I knew where you were coming from. Mike is the same way, he's had major bone breaks, major surgery and acts like nothing is wrong, but he gets the sniffles and watch out, baby time!!

Do I have to go to work again tomorrow? :(
I wish you didn't  for an easy day someday for you!

Sarah, I'm still sending happy thouhts to you and Mike. You guys are also still in my prayers every night and pixie dust in hopes that things get better.

Howdid it go Sarah?

Thanks for all of your thoughts, I really appreciate it. Mike is in a tough spot and things aren't getting any easier.

Actually Daisy didn't go anywhere near the dog door last night. She slept on the bed with us most of the night, but I was waiting to go out there and blast her if I had to. I never say were over that because cats have a weird way of doing whatever they want and what they want can change from day to day!

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Did I have a question? Oh, there we go! :D

Thought I posted this morning and didn't. Coffee left somewhere around here I hope. Blythe nice to see you. Isn't it funny how packing something makes a trip so real?

T & G I hope your having a good time. Beach time is so neat isn't it?

Has anyone seen our tube top master around? What on earth does "business casual" mean anyway? I get formal and I get casual but that one phrase leads to more odd clothes then anything else. I hope you feel better soon.

Great photo's. Why didn't we see any of you and Dan swimming ???? Was the water a little chilly ??

My Tuesday is also my Monday.... Patti was off yesterday and when she's off, so am I. This week will fly by for both of us.

Its another beautiful day today. Sure glad the weather is cooperating for our last full day. We went out for a long walk this morning before breakfast. Nothing like a walk on the beach to clear the head and de-stress!!

So are you guys behaving? I feel so out of touch! Oh well...there will be plenty of time to catch up later.

For the tube top master, business casual probably means wearing the NON-sequined tube top. :D
For the rest of us, slacks with something nice, but no jacket. Of course for you, the big question is...What shoes do you wear? :D

I have some hot glue and more gold cord if your shoes don't have enough!:D:D

It also never fails to amaze me how different each company I either worked for or visited viewed the concept of business casual. There was one VERY large manufacturer that I went to several years ago on a consulting basis and their idea of business casual for men was that instead of a full on suit where the jacket and slacks were of the same material they could wear slacks and a blazer. Somehow that doesn't sound very casual to me.

By the way, thanks to everyone for all your well wishes on my latest bad back news.

Now, who has the spare backs that I can use to replace mine with?

Afternoon all!! What's going on? I'm just surviving the afternoon. My best friend actually met me for lunch and that was wonderful, I sure needed someone stable to talk to.

I'm so stressed right now. Mike doesn't know what he wants to do about going back to NY for a funeral, heck they don't even know when/if they're having a funeral. I guess Uncle Jim refused to talk about death so didn't let anyone know what he wanted them to do once he was gone. So now his girlfriend Paula has to deal with everything.

Pogo, is NY a community property state? If not, all of his property (estate) refers back to his parents right? I hope he had a will, if not there will be a whole lot of paperwork involved in letting Paula take care of things. No one in the family will fight her, she's been with Jim forever, but I'm sure there will be some legal issues since they weren't married.

I know that Mike can't help everything being up in the air, but geez, we're leaving on vacation in less than two weeks, if we're going to change things around, sometime soon would be nice. He's also talking about driving out there since Uncle Jim had a lot of motorcycles/memorabilia that Mike is hoping Paula won't mind him having. He was a writer for Car and Driver magazine and just amazingly talented, so much like Mike it's sometimes scary. Sure does stink.

Well look at me just babbling on. Sorry to be such a pain. You guys are the best to listen to my babble. love ya!!!

Great photo's. Why didn't we see any of you and Dan swimming ???? Was the water a little chilly ??

Well, seeing as I'm the one usually carrying the camera, there aren't usually very many of me, anyway (and yes, I went in the water...) But I also have rules about pictures of me in my bathing suit, and Dan is kind enough to comply!! And no, he did not go in the water, at least not past his knees... ;)

I have decided one thing....I want to be a beach bum....:D

:ditto:

wow.... what a quiet day around here!! were you all at the Fair with me, or at the beach with Cindy???

We had a great day, and I think Julia had a great birthday. Her earrings look so pretty and she is so happy with them... and we had a lot of fun at the Fair, stayed later than we planned. (as usual...) My absolute favorite part to visit is the Raptor Show... the guy who runs it is an wildlife rehabilitator for falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, etc., and he has a great display and an even better show. He's from right here in NY and is amazing... he travels the country and is wonderful each & every year. I'd love to go visit his preserve or have him bring his show to the girls' schools... it's amazing to see these birds up close and what he does with them... they are gorgeous, and I can't ever get enough of them. Anyway... besides seeing him, we visited every animal barn we could, played with wee piglets, calves and ducklings... it was a full day, and that's not even counting all the food. ;)

Now it's time to head off to bed... tomorrow's another full day of party planning and errands... I think I'm going to need another vacation after this week/weekend is over!!

I hope everyone had a great day... I'll see you all in the morning. and :pixie: to everyone!!

Everning all, just a quick zoop. Mike's headed to Rochester tomorrow until Sunday. His uncle's funeral is Friday. This will give him some time to spend with his grandparents and the rest of his family, maybe even catch up with some friends. As much as it's going to be a finacial hardship, I think for his peace of mind it's time for him to touch base with people there, it's unfortunate it has to be in this way.

If you could send some :pixie: our way so that he has a safe trip I would appreciate it. Have a great night, I'll check in tomorrow. to you all!

That was an honest question. We're a little more casual in Az. DH locked me out of the house one Sat. I'm in the pool, and the two back doors are double locked. I mean, I NEED to go inside, and the only way is to go out through the back gate and punch the code for the garage door. Only problem - I'm barefoot, and to get out the gate, I have to walk over desert landscaping. That means HOT rocks, and cactus thistles. Well, DH has a garden, so there's an old pair of his size 13 desert boots, so that's my best option. Check to see that there aren't any scorpions in them, put them on, but the laces are rotted, so I'm walking like a little kid in his daddys slippers. Anyway, I made it - only three or four cars passed by -I didn't really look, but it wasn't a pretty sight.

Now, is it easier to believe that I'm serious about the bathrobe belt?

I promise to dress a little better for breakfast in Dec., so Pogo, stop laughing already:D

Is that anything like "semi-formal"? What does that mean?
No not at all like semi-formal. A semi-formal occasion would mean for men a suit and tie for sure. For ladies normally a dress at cocktail length. (time of day and season of year would dictate the fabrics and if a jacket would be needful). Business casual means you don't need a suit jacket (though a blazer with pants is just fine) and ladies could wear slacks and nice top or sweater or a day time dress if they please. Course you can always still do business suits if you want.

Semi-formal? Isn't that when you wear a belt with your bathrobe?:)
Do you think I may just own a few too many clothes?

Oddly on that same topic Carol can you sew pants? I need to invest in some good material quality slacks and hate buying off the rack as my legs are too short. Is that something you can do? Or tell me what to look for in someone who does?
Blythe you didn't leave the bagels in the coffee did you? Sandy good luck with the training.

so what is lazier than a slug?? a sloth maybe- that just makes me think of that movie Seven.

and yes i was in charge one whole night and for 4 hours the next. Darcy has the most seniority- so she got cancelled. though nancy z had her name in the book. however nicu needed her skill level so she had to work-(oh was she not happy). i however, reminded myself of all the times i get screwed because she can't go to labor and delivery. i was not upset. it was a slow weekend all alround. sunday night i went upstairs at 11 and didn't have a patient until 2am when martha went home. she was my only patient all night long- postop csection on mag. wooohooo. i almost fell asleep.

Morning all, I'm so exhausted this morning. We were up late trying to get Mike packed up and ready to go. Then this morning our computer system at work went down so I was on the phone with them for 45 minutes trying to make that work again. I started crying because that was just my limit. I have so much to do and now it's just me to take care of it. I'm supposed to go to some meeting tonight about a new medical product my boss wants to look into and I don't know how I'm going to make it. I guess I'll just put one foot in front of the other. Beep.. Beep... Beep.... know what that sound is???
The truck is backing up with lovely sand bag sand.... Everyone around here is starting to freak w/ Gustav..... Can you believe every hotel on higher land is already booked throughout the state?
Post trauma anxiety takes years to settle and everything flairs up again w/ a storm brewing so tensions are high here. Our Gov. already posted the storm warnings b/c we are at the center of the forecast and this one looks like it could easily get to a cat 4 before landfall. Levee's are not ready for a test yet--hoping they could even take a cat 2.
I worry most for Bret b/c he is in the lowest area. He has been real sick too. Please think of him and Sherrie, keep them in your prayers.
My house is almost on a mountain.... a whooping 20 feet above sea level.... Really just have to worry about falling trees and tornadoes here. I guess we will be having company real soon.
Everything is already saturated from Fay and the low pressure we had before that.
Going out to buy batteries....

Sarah please tell Mike from all of us that I hope he gets through this difficult time.

I can sew pants, but they aren't my favorite things to sew, or should I say clothes in general, unless it's a costume or tiny stuff!! My best bet for letting you know who to hire is go to a fabric store and see if they have anyone that they recommend, when you meet the person ask to see their work and some references. We have two people we send people to all the time and one is an employee. We have a lady here in town that has done alterations for years, her work is really bad so we don't even mention her. She did a couple of rolled hems for some of the belly dancers for our recital, they weren't rolled hems and it was awful, so I'm helping out next year. Or there is always hem fuser to put in a hem....you just have to iron!! Does that help?

Sarah, so sorry to hear about Mike's uncle.

Beth, :fan: to blow the storm south...we could always have Pogo blow, that might help!!!

So sorry I'm not very cheery today. I think I'll bow out of JQ for a little while until I have something good or positive to say. Thanks for listening, I'll check back in a few days  to you all!
Sarah.... I hope you get through this hectic time in your life. Call me if you need to talk. I have a way of making people smile, remember ???? :D

Beep.. Beep... Beep.... know what that sound is???
Anyone have a spare generator?
I have a spare generator you can use.... and lots of prayers and :pixie: for you and everyone in that region. Are you planning on riding it out ?? I think if I were you, I'd head a little farther north and either east or west.

I don't think the people who have the room next were expecting company.
Don't you think they'd like a little surprise ??? :D

Beth, we could always have Pogo blow, that might help!!!

That - my friends is proof as to why she is our prestigious Dean of Fashion! :exactly:

Beth, you and your family will be in my thoughts....I really hope it is still too early to determine where it will hit and how high the category will be.......please be careful though...lots and lots of :pixie: your way!

So can anyone guess which JQ'er will be in Disney next????????? :D:mickey::D

Good morning everybody. Is everyone O.K.? We had some big time lightning and thunder last night, so we unplugged the computer, turned the T.V. off, and decided we're too old for storms. Lack of imagination is one of the first signs of decreditude. (Is that a word)? :blush:Anyway, it was a full time job keeping the Chow calm . We got about 1" of rain in a half hour. That's quite a bit when you don't have sewers, and there were kids out with inner tubes after the lightning stopped. Looked like fun, but 911 won't come out to get an old lady up from an inner tube.

We're down to 101 days until Disney, and I'm getting excited to meet everybody.

Today, I have some lemon puffs that one of DH's patients made yesterday. They have a custard filling, and are absolutely yummy. Help yourself, but remember, they're English pasteries, so pinkies out. Can I have some of your Starbucks tho"? This instant stuff is really bad.

After a dialysis run, I'm coming back and catch up. I think I'm about two pages behind. Only good things happen to everyone here, please!!!:cloud9:

Well, I've done all the shopping I can do for this party... the cakes are in the oven, the crafts are set out, the candies/munchies are in their designated bowls (although still closed, or they'd be gone by Friday... ;)) and now I have to do a bit of cleaning, and maybe some early decorating. (In case you're wondering why I'd start so early, I'm probably working tonight and I'm definitely working tomorrow night, so the next time I'm up, awake and ready to go will be right before all the kids arrive!!) So far, no one's declined... so we'll have 10 little girls in our family room Friday overnight. God grant us courage and strength.... :noevil:

have a great day. i'm not sure what i'm doing today. my back is still iffy.

How's your back? I got cleared over the phone to work, so now I just have to call and be sure they've got me on the long sheets for tonight's ET. Honestly, I could take it or leave it, but if I go in, the extra $$ is always nice... 'specially since the car shop thinks my back brakes should be done to match my fronts... :(

So sorry I'm not very cheery today. I think I'll bow out of JQ for a little while until I have something good or positive to say. Thanks for listening, I'll check back in a few days  to you all!
Sarah, you are not allowed to bow out when you're "uncheery" -- that is where we come in best!! Trust me, I've done it -- but felt far better after I re-connected and let everyone help me smile. So don't be gone long, okay?? We're with you....

Can you believe this trip went even faster than a Disney trip?
Yup -- I think it has to do with the kind-of relaxing that happens on the beach. By this time of year, it is exactly what you need and seems to disappear so much faster!! I'm glad it was so much of a better trip than you expected, though!!

I hope Wednesday is going well for everyone... and it's almost over for you working folks!! Yeah!!

I've got to run again... time to get the cakes out and move along on my list. I'll catch you guys later!!

Beth, fan to blow the storm south...we could always have Pogo blow, that might help!!!
I'm afraid that storms are attracted to hot air, only makes it worse... :D

Speaking of the casual business wear before.. When we were on the cruise last month the attire was "SMART CASUAL" is this opposed to dumb casual??? I guess if the maitre de looks down his nose at your attire you feel really dumb????

I have a spare generator you can use.... and lots of prayers and :pixie: for you and everyone in that region. Are you planning on riding it out ?? I think if I were you, I'd head a little farther north and either east or west.

I am planning on riding it out. My subdivision is on old alluvial soil. We are the natural levee to the Mississippi. I will batten down the hatches and stay away from the glass windows. Even if the levees break we are above the flood plain. Baton Rouge doesn't have as much swamp land. Feel free to drive down with that generator.
Honestly I don't believe in hurricane parties. So there will be no parties. Maybe a shot for nerves but you have to stay alert. I just got back from the grocery and there was no water to be found (I already have my water) and many batteries types were already sold out.
I've lost friends in hurricanes and seen body bags w/ friends in them :( when I was young so we do take it seriously. Besides when you stay behind you endanger others-- like Bret who has to stay behind. We will stay here unless there is a mandatory evacuation.
I had friends that fled a storm once and ended up in a school gym and it was hit by a tornado.

That - my friends is proof as to why she is our prestigious Dean of Fashion! :exactly:
Beth, you and your family will be in my thoughts....I really hope it is still too early to determine where it will hit and how high the category will be.......please be careful though...lots and lots of pixie your way!

So who is going to WDW??? True we don't know where it will go and we get many false alarms.. that's why we need the dust now ;) Jamie is near Pensacola, my brother in Mobile and a few other intercotees, Bret is so low that they can have trouble even if it hits Mobile. We have so many friends in N.O. and surrounding areas. Angel is west of me and if it goes to her we get the worst side of the storm, the east side.
Once a storm gets in the gulf this time of year it's never good news. the water is so hot it's a breeding ground for intense storms. All depends on what that high does that is over the gulf right now. It could still swing your way and I don't hope for that either.
Maybe our northern friends can blow down a little cool air.

.. so we'll have 10 little girls in our family room Friday overnight. God grant us courage and strength.... :noevil:

I sure hope this one blows by you guys... I wasn't even aware of it 'til I read your post. Of course, then I had to go check out the weather channel! So, pixie to all you guys, esp. Sherrie & Bret... we'll all be trying to fan it away from you!!!
!
Oh I remember the days of little girls filling the living room ;) sounds like fun.
Thanks for the pixie dust... I'm more worried about Bret and Sherrie right now. Lori's mom is in the same area too. She has lost houses in Betsy, Camille and Katrina. We lost our house in Camille so I know what it's like. Something you only want to do once. Brings back a lot of bad memories....

OK - so I went back and scanned the last 10 pages. I'm sure I didn't get it all, so I'm sorry if I miss something important!

Ken - Happy belated Anniversary!! Hope it was a good one!
Blythe - Glad you had a good trip! Did you ever find out - was it really the mumps?
Sarah - so sorry to hear about DH's uncle. Sending prayers for him and his family, and for a safe trip.
Traci - you are such an inspiration. I just truly love your positive outlook on life! Carter is so lucky to have you in his life.
Pogo - are you working hard, or hardly working?
To MsMin and anyone else down on the gulf - please be safe!
Jasper - sorry to hear about the latest back issues. Keep your chin up, and know that we will all be praying for a good outcome!

I know I missed some, and I apologize. Who knew that so much could take place in just a few days?

We are home. Kitties are home - one is all lovey - the other is a little ticked. Now if those suitcases would just magically unpack themselves.....

Blythe, best of luck with those giggling girls! Sounds like a memorable night!

Sarah, take care and try to be nice to yourself. Think ahead to DIsney days...

Marilyn, you crack me up. I wish I could meet you in December!!

I am exhausted. I didn't sleep well last night AND today was the first day of teaching classes. It went fine but it was a nonstop day. I was going to start working on my teddy bears for the cake but I think I'm going to bed after I'm done here. Still have to teach tomorrow...

Good news is that voting ends tonight at midnight! So now I'll be waiting and checking my email every chance I can to see if I made it.... everyone has been SO wonderful, voting for me --- I think I have a good chance.

Keep sane, everyone (unless that's not your thing) --

Motto to Live By
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, espresso in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "Woo Hoo, what a ride!"

Have a great night, I'll check in tomorrow. to you all!

Sarah, this is Auntie Marilyn. You can cry, scream, or go out and kick some cans, but you CANNOT, (underline cannot), stop leaning on us. We're your "soft spot", and we've all been in the same situation - just different names and places, and you've lifted us up with no questions asked.

Listen, we're having prime rib in Dec., and that's only 100 days off. I know, what you're going through now can't be "wished" away, even with :pixie:, but prayer works, and you've got some coming your way.

You go to your mirror right now, smile, and say, "tomorrow will be better". I'm going to my mirror now, and ask, "what WAS my question"? BTW, there's nothing wrong with talking to yourself in the mirrow. At least you know someone intelligent is listening.

Hey guys, just a quick stop. It's been pretty hectic today and I haven't exactly been in the most wonderful of moods. Hailey had her orientation for U.M.A. today. We ordered one of her books, that new is $123.50, on eBay last night. I used buy it now for $10.00 and this morning she messages me to tell me that she doesn't have it :shake: So back to the drawing board. Could you send a little :pixie: this way? About an hour ago I picked Carter up and he felt hot enough to burn my hands so I took his temp and it's 103.4 so, I just dropped them off at the E.R. which is about 2 miles from here, the Dr wanted to see him and if it's major then they will send him to a big hospital about 40 miles from here. His chest didn't sound junky yet but every time he gets anything it tends to settle in his chest and makes his asthma act up. So, to make a short story long....could you send some :pixie: this way in hopes that it's nothing major.
Thanks so much, love to all

Sarah, did you know that you are one of my favorite people in the whole world?

When you feel
Your heart's guarded
And you see
The break started
When the clouds
Have all departed
You'll be right
Here with me
When your tears
Have dried from cryin'
And the world
Has turned to silent
When the clouds
Have all departed
You'll be right
Here with me

When you're so trapped
And there's just no key
And you can't breathe
I'll breathe for you
The fire's got you down
On both knees
And the walls
Are closing
In but
I'll be
Breakin' through

And when you feel alone
Imma be ya home
When others come and go
Ya know I got you

(From Brandy's "Departed"....youtube it)

Your next vacation is 106 days away!
Only 106 more days before I can see the stars!!

Who can see the stars from their house? I can only see one, but I think it's actually Jupiter and not a star.

It's been one of those days where you just have to laugh. You know it's going to be a rough day when you put your bra on backwards........
and it fits!

Well, they said at the hospital that Carter just has a virus and his lungs sound clear so YAY!!!!!
I hope everyone had at least an OK day. I hope the new morning finds you healthy, wealthy and wise.

By the way, thanks to everyone for all your well wishes on my latest bad back news.
More headed your way. I plan on keeping up a steady flow for you in hopes that it prevents too much more yucky stuff in your life.

Semi-formal? Isn't that when you wear a belt with your bathrobe?
Again I have to thank you. My life certainly wouldn't be nearly as etertaining if you weren't a part of it!

Sound wonderful! I'm glad you had a good time!

I promise to dress a little better for breakfast in Dec., so Pogo, stop laughing already
:funny:

Gage had his first lesson in socail behavior 101 the other day at daycare. A little girl had a toy he wanted adn would not give it to him. So he pushed her down - Then her big brother comes over and bites Gage an the arm.

My neck and shoulder are still sore, so I think I must've done something to strain them, and everything else just piled on top of that. Not sure if we'll ever really know... which I find pretty scary, actually!
I think I've solved your mystery illness for you. It comes from severely tipping your head and shoulders back while imbibbing in your favorite beverage. Apparently, you've consumed more then the body can tolerate. The cure is to rest the area by either quitting drinking.... or have your engineer husband build you one of those hats that hold a drink on each side and connect to your mouth with a straw. :D

I bet you didn't know I was into medicine, did you ????

yes i can do that. where and when do you want it? (loaded question isn't it)
Oops.......... I never thought of that. It's not smart to give a stalker your address is it ?? :shake: Never mind !

I missed you too. Its nice to be back to the best friends in the world. Too bad I have to go to work tomorrow...
While we were at the beach, I found the perfect sign to add to my collection. :D

Sounds like it was a college town. :D

Sarah, this is Auntie Marilyn. You can cry, scream, or go out and kick some cans, but you CANNOT, (underline cannot), stop leaning on us. We're your "soft spot", and we've all been in the same situation - just different names and places, and you've lifted us up with no questions asked.

How'd you get so smart ??

You go to your mirror right now, smile, and say, "tomorrow will be better". I'm going to my mirror now, and ask, "what WAS my question"? BTW, there's nothing wrong with talking to yourself in the mirrow. At least you know someone intelligent is listening.

Ain't it the truth !

Sarah, did you know that you are one of my favorite people in the whole world?
Mine too ! She's a good hugger. :D

When you feel
Your heart's guarded
And you see
The break started
When the clouds
Have all departed
You'll be right
Here with me
When your tears
Have dried from cryin'
And the world
Has turned to silent
When the clouds
Have all departed
You'll be right
Here with me

When you're so trapped
And there's just no key
And you can't breathe
I'll breathe for you
The fire's got you down
On both knees
And the walls
Are closing
In but
I'll be
Breakin' through

And when you feel alone
Imma be ya home
When others come and go
Ya know I got you

(From Brandy's "Departed"....youtube it)

Thanks for sharing this with us. Very nice.

It's been one of those days where you just have to laugh. You know it's going to be a rough day when you put your bra on backwards........
and it fits!

Oh where is Alex ??? I think this has happened to him several times. :D

I could have quoted all of you a million times but it would have taken me all morning!! All I want you to know is THANK YOU!! You guys said some of the sweetest things, I got all weepy! :( I appreciate all of your support, you will never know how much it means to me!

Things are looking a little better. I didn't sleep very well last night, but I never do when Mike's out of town, that's ok, it'll get better. Mike made it to Rochester last night, it was late but he was at his Aunt and Uncle's house watching tv before he went to bed, so all is good there. He isn't sure what he's going to do today but I'm sure he'll figure it out when he wakes up.

On the bright side, I'm interviewing for another receptionist today. It was kinda a "meant to be" kinda thing as she just walked over from another office in our complex, looking for more hours, etc. and I think it might work out perfectly. I guess we'll see how it goes. I'm going to ask her if she knows what the word RELIABLE means and see what she comes up with :D

So I'm off to finish getting ready and head off to work. I hope you all have a fabulous day! The biggest  to all of you. And Pogo, although I don't want to inflate your head anymore than it already is ;) (JK) but THANK YOU for bringing me to these wonderful people, I don't know how I would ever repay you. You guys are the absolutely best!!

Talk to you later!

Did I miss a question? NAH!! :D

:sing: "(Squashed) On the road again... I hope I don't get (squashed) on the road again..:sing:

Ummm.. trumpeters wouldn't really drool either... all their spit goes into the instrument to then get released via that spit valve release thingy.... now I do remember going to many a rock concert and seeing the women in the audience drooling... maybe that's what she was thinking of?

Hi Pogo, I'm doing well today!

Yes I did hear from Mike when he made it to Chicago and then when he made it to Buffalo. He had to drive from Buffalo to Rochester. He did call me real quick, and REAL late from Rochester when he made it to his aunt and uncle's house, safe and sound. Off to see his Granparents today!

What'd everyone have for lunch? I'm eating chinese food YUM!!

No bad news to get me down, I've had enough of that lately to last for a lifetime, thank you very much!! :D

Hey Everybody! :hi:

Sorry I haven't been around too much lately. Things getting busy, as always.

So, who feels like watching the weather reports with me? Seems we have a lot of activity out here in the tropics that's not making me too happy. Anybody got a couple spare bottles of scotch? I think I'm gonna give one to Mother Nature and chug the other myself!

Hope you're all doing well! :bolt:

I thought scotch comes in rolls.. never seen it in a bottle....but with the strong winds of a hurricane - don't you think duct tape might work better?

Pogo your right, we never have spare bottles of scotch.

Diane, if you want to pass on tape, you're welcome to, OK? But I want the strong liquidy goodness that it typically aged for longer than 10 years. If I can't stop the winds, I might as well drown them out, right?
