Just got back from the past week (July 13-20) and I've titled it "Hot & Wet".
My family (DD's 7 & 4) spent the week at Port Orleans-French Quarter and had a good time. I will start with Day 1 and then additional days will follow.
DAY 1: Our United plane arrived on time at 2:15pm and it took 63 minutes to get from the plane door to the registration desk at French Quarter. The bus had two other stops so I felt it was pretty good about that time.
We checked in and were assigned a 2nd floor room in Building 1, pretty much at the back of the resort. I was not very happy because I requested Building 4 and 1st floor and got neither and since I made the reservations and request 9 months ago. But I didn't let it ruin my good mood as the resort is not that big.
The weather was hot and humid (as expected) and we took a bus to Studios and headed for Tower of Terror (DD's favorite). Then we headed to ABC Commissary for quickservice dinner, which was not very good, even for a quickservice restaurant. Then the weather turned bad and it rained/stormed for 4 hours straight, but it didn't hurt our plans much because we were planned to rest and get ready for the next day.

Highlight: Tower of Terror
Lowlight: Bad meal at ABC Commissary

More to follow.............

A trip starting with a TOT ride sounds like a good start to me...looking forward to reading more.

When we were there in June, we tried to eat dinner at I think the Backlot Express and they were closing. We tried to eat anywhere and we either could not get a ressie or they were closing, and it was only around 5:30. Just a side note since I thought that was odd. I guess I am glad since you didn't enjoy your meal.

Anyway, sounds like a slightly rocky start to your vacation. I hope things look up for you and your family!

There's nothing like the beginning of a Disney vacation when your whole trip is stretching out in front of you! Although there were a few glitches, you're off to a good start!

POFQ is such a fun and wonderful resort. Even though all resort requests can't always be met, I bet you had a great room! :mickey:

Wow, four hours is a long time for it to rain, but I am glad it didn't put a wrench into any big plans. At least you are there and even when it is hot and wet it is still more fun to be at WDW than at home! :mickey:

I'm glad you gave the timeline from airport to hotel since that's where we are staying in 8 weeks. So we can be in the parks by noon hopefully.
I can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Love POFQ, very quiet and quaint resort. Sorry to hear about ABC Commissary, seems like it hasn't changed too much. :mickey:
