I was almost out of hope.
Then it appeared like :magic: - A DING!

I scored my return flight today for $115.00.
I almost gave up last night and took the $180.00 online price. Good thing I didn't!

Awesome!
Our DINGS haven't been nearly as Ding-worthy as in the past. I'm glad you got a good one!

Just for trivia, though, if you ever do over-pay, Southwest will issue a credit to you for use on a future flight. All you have to do is call there with your confirmation number and they'll credit the difference to you.

Kinda nice, huh?

Yes, I'm aware. Thanks....
My friend had over $500.00 credit, and I applied that online with the purchase of her ding fares.
I typically only fly once a year for vacation.

How awesome!!! I am still holding out for our trip. We got a DING the other day but it was only for travel until Sept 30. When is your trip? I am just curious when I might be able to expect one for our trip.

What are the dates of your vacation. If you don't mind me asking. I keep checking our flights, waiting for them to come down a bit. As of right now it is going to cost us $2155.00 for the 5 of us. I am hoping that the fares will come down a bit (maybe even a DING fare). One leg of our flight is $240, crazy. We've never paid anything close to that with SW.

I've been watching ding for months now.
Here's the scoop for my vacation;

8/5 Hartford > Tampa for 2 on a ding = $203.00
I booked this one 6/16.
We are spending 8/5-8/10 at a friends 2nd house in Sarasota (she works with me).

On 8/10 we drive over to Orlando - she has a Time Share 2miles from Disney. We're going to purchase 4 days +1free of passes - non hopping.

Since I couldn't find a flight from Orlando > Hartford & it's getting to close to wait anymore.
We then decided to drive back to Tampa (2 hours) on Sunday night to spend 1 last night @ her house.
I purchased a ding fare today for Tampa > Hartford for 115.50 per person.
Sooo a long story short my vacation dates are 8/5>8/18... :D so excited!
Hope I answered your questions.

Glad you got a great fare!

I watched SW and Ding fares for quite a while before I booked our trip. I altered our flight times and days a bit to accommodate better fares. I ended up getting $79 1st leg and $89 for the return. These were not Ding fares, btw, they were the Getaway fares. Ding was slightly higher.

KAT1811 - I would watch those Ding fares and even other airlines. We had a trip to Ft Myers in June and I got a better deal with Continental than SW.

For the rest of you waiting for the right fare, I have found that patience definitely pays off. We booked our August flights about 3 weeks ago.

Good luck and happy traveling to you all.

I'm glad to hear that I have plenty of time before I have to make a final decision on flights. I will definately go SW just because they are the only ones with direct flights from Providence and with 3 children (11, 3 1/2, & 1 1/2), and being 5 months pregnant at the time of vacation DH and I want to simplify things as much as possible. I'll hold out for awhile. I am not looking for a crazy cheap fare just something reasonable.

Sorry, I see it, November.
They are starting to Ding Sept. & Oct.
Keep an eye out!

I have been checking the flights around Columbus Day figuring the flights may be similar to the Friday before Veterans Day. Right now the flights in October would be $1600.00 about $500. cheaper than the November flights right now. That is why I am thinking that if I keep an eye on them they'll come down a bit. With 5 flights if they come down a little bit it ends up being a huge savings. Thanks for the help.

Wow, I had no idea my $59 flights in September were so rare, I would have thought Aug and Oct would have similar fares.

How do you get DING rates? I thought I had downloaded Ding, but I never have anything pop up. Should I go back and re-register? Do you enter a city of preference for airfare?

Thanks, Kerrie:mickey:

At southwest's site go to download ding.
Select your airports and you should get something saying registration complete.
You will see a airplane wing on the bottom right side.
