July 11, 1767 – John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the United States, was born in Braintree, Massachusetts. Visit him and all the Chief Executives at WDW’s “Hall of Presidents” attraction.
July 11, 1914 – Long-time Disney employee Harold W. Adelquist was born in Salt Lake City, Ut. He would work in production, personnel, and the story department before being assigned to the “Mickey Mouse Club” as a general coordinator.
July 11, 1927 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice’s Medicine Show” was released.
July 11, 1933 – Singer and host Bob McGrath, a fixture on TV’s Sesame Street for over 38 years, was born in Ottawa, Il. During the summers in the mid 1980’s, Epcot hosted the All-American College Orchestra. McGrath appeared many times as one of the celebrity guests on the America Gardens Stage with them.
July 11, 1941 – Disney’s Donald Duck short “Early to Bed,” was released.
July 11, 1947 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Donald’s Dilemma” was released.
July 11, 1953 – Disney’s Goofy cartoon “How to Dance” was released.
July 11, 1956 – The Barstow Family of Wetherfield, Ct. left for a week-long California vacation. They were the winners of a nationwide contest sponsored by the 3M Scotch Tape Company. The prize, a family vacation to Disneyland, including airfare, 4-days worth of Disneyland tickets and hotel accommodations in Pasadena!
July 11, 1974 – Disney’s syndicated TV special “Herbie Day at Disneyland” aired.
July 11, 1984 – Nearly 400 Cast Members stood before Sleeping Beauty Castle to celebrate Disneyland’s 30th anniversary. The Cast Members were photographed as part of a marketing campaign.
