My family and I will be visiting WDW at the end of August for the DDP. The first two days we will be at POFQ and the next two WL. (Before we hit the parks!:)) We are curious as to what others like to do when not in a park. What do you spend your time doing? Recreation, shopping, etc. Thanks!!:mickey:

DH and I shop, shop and SHOP some more!!!! :shop::woohoo::cart::spend: How lucky am I to have a husband who likes to shop?
We typically go over to Downtown Disney because they have so many things that we can't get anywhere else....especially at the Art of Disney and World of Disney! We have been redecorating our basement with a Disney theme so being at WDW is the perfect place.
We typically do not stay more than 4 days so most of our time is spent at the parks. We also go during the winter so I refuse to get in the pool.

It depends on what we are feeling like at the moment but:

1. We spend time on our balcony with a drink in our hands watching the action on the Seven Seas lagoon
2. Go shopping
3. Mini-golf
4. take a side trip, like last year to Celebration (interesting place by the way)

are among the variety of things we do.

Shopping and sleeping! Then more shopping :mickey:
Although, on our next trip we are going to try the mini-golf and renting sea raycers. And then I'll go shopping again.

We go shopping/dining at DTD and sometimes we rest in our villa and do some laundry. Not very glamorous, but you don't have to pack as much that way.

We are either in the parks or at DTD. Back when the parks closed earlier, we'd go to the pool but not to much anymore. We stay on site so we don't usually get out much.

One of my favorite things to do is watch an approaching thunderstorm from the balcony of our hotel. We are usually in the hotel when they hit, or have been cleared out of the pool.

We like to resort hop. Take monorail to hotels or drive to the different hotels and walk around.

This was absolutely my first answer! (And we also shop at Downtown Disney or check out the Boardwalk....Plus there are those wonderful hammocks at the Caribbean Beach....which leads me right back to my original answer, I guess!)

Relax at the hotel - either taking it easy in the room or sitting by the pool.

We're usually not without access to a park, but we break up our days so it's not all park, all the time. We like to spend our downtime at our resort, swimming, shopping, relaxing, dining.

There was one trip that we didn't have the ability to hit the parks on day one, and we couldn't resist riding the monorail loop around Seven Seas Lagoon to MK, and then taking the ferry to the TTC, and hopping on the Epcot monorail for a round trip. It got us in the mood to hit the parks ASAP starting the next morning.

Downtown Disney is a must, if you can stand to do more walking and sitting by the pool with a nice cold drink just watching. If you are only gonna be there for 4 days, I can't image what else you would do other than the parks. Oh, cirque d' soile ( or however that is spelled) makes a nice evening out.

I have to say, we are at the parks open to close. We go during off peak, (September) so on the night we go to Animal Kingdom, which closes at 5, we will end up at DTD shopping. Other than that, we are parks, parks, parks.

We also like to split up our park off days and on those days we tour other resorts, go to DTD, spend time on the balcony and pool.

One time we took a ride over to Celebration and an Outlet Mall, but mostly we like to stay onsite and keep the sense of the "real" world at bay for a few days. :mickey:

Disney's Miniature Golf can be fun as well. In the summer we split up our day and go back to the resort during the heat of the day. That's a great time for some R&R.:mickey:

Like another poster, if we are not doing a park on arrival day, we take the monorail around the MK resorts and the EPCOT loop. Wonderful way to begin!!

Have a great visit!! :minnie:

1. Sleep
2. Resort hop
3. Visit DTD/Boardwalk
4. Adventurers Club

AC normally would be #3, but since it's being discontinued, it fell to #4. Always visit it at least once each trip. :)

I'm not much of a shopper or foodie, so I burn out at DTD and Boardwalk fairly quickly. I'm usually good for two or three hours, then I reach my limit! :)

One of my favorite things to do while not in the parks is sit on my balcony at the WL and people watch  It's really interesting the things you see!

We like to explore the different resorts. It is so much fun to see how the other people have chosen to spend their trip, the gift shops are fun, the atmosphere is diff. in each resort, and the restaurants are the best in "the World." I am a big pool person so I like to go check out the pools and see how what they look like. I also use the landscaping to take family pictures with a tripod. We do Downtown Disney once, but only once cause our kids hate all that walking just to turn around and come back. Swimming is def. a great pass time. Miniature Golfing is fun! You can rent a pontoon boat and check out lake cresent or seven seas lagoon. This is always fun to do, if you aren't used to the luxury of owning your own boat. You will be suprised when you get there, how fast, time outside the parks, flies by. It is the busiest resort in the world and for good reason. If you are truly out of options, take turns enjoying the spa at Saratoga springs. Getting a massage or a pedicure will be the highlight of your trip!

Since my family and I are DVC member, we usually stay at a DVC resort (home resort is OKW). We usually plan on one BBQ/pool day- we grab one of the picnic tables and set up for a BBQ lunch. Swimming, shuffle board, playing cards. After lunch, we usually go to community hall and play ping-pong or rent surrey bikes, regular bikes, or a boat and ride around for a while. Just hanging out at the resort is always fun and relaxing. We leave next week for OKW and I'm most looking forward to BBQing!

We spend most of our time in the parks. We do spend time at Downtown Disney Marketplace and have visited some of the other resorts. We don't spend a lot of time using the pool at our resort.

I like to ride on the monorail resort loop - get off at each stop and maybe eat something, shop and then go on to the next resort. We also enjoy hanging around the Epcot resorts and swimming in our pool.

If we drive down or rented a car we head out to some of the flea markets, and to some restaurants.

If we flew down we usually tour the inside of the other hotels, go to Downtown Disney, or walk around the hotels and take in the sites.
