Far Out Bookings?

How far out can one book accommodations? I'm just curious because I hear WL is frequently tough to book.

Room-only reservations can be made 499 days in advance.

Packages can only be booked once the prices for the following calendar year have been set. This typically occurs in late summer. So if you want to book a package reservation for January 2009, you can't do so until probably August or so of this year. But also by that same time (August or so of this year), you can book a package all the way through December 31, 2009.

The standard operating procedure for us insiders is to call the 499 days from the last day of your vacation(if it's Jan 1st-7th you call 499 out from the 7th) and secure the room-only ressie. Then when the package details and prices are released you call back and replace the room-only with the package rates all in the same call. That way you get the room you want as early as possible and then you get the package you want added to it later.
