Crowds after Jan 1

When do the crowds start thinning out after New Year's? I am thinking of planning a trip the Sat after New Year's for a week. Will the holiday crowds be pretty much gone by then?:mickey:

It really depends on when the 1st falls in relationship to the weekend, but usually crowds start going down dramatically on the 2nd. Remember most schools start back on the 2nd or the first Monday after the weekend if new years falls on Thur thru Sun.

The WDW Marathon weekend is right after the holiday this year Jan 8-12. It brings big crowds...i know i have run the last 3 and i am going again this year....just check your dates.:mickey:

We've been down there for the week between the holidays and a few days after...and to tell the truth, we see a reduction in crowds already on the 1st and they get lower each day as the week goes on...

Yikes! It really looks like you are only going to have low crowd levels from 1/5-1/7. That being said, you will probably have a good share of the marathon groups showing up early to enjoy some of the parks before the big event.
If you can, I would try to hold out till the week of 1/12 for the lowest levels. I do imagine that most of the holiday decorations will be down by then though.

It really seems like there is alot going on this year. Jan 8-12- marathon, 16-18 MLK weekend, Feb 1- Super Bowl, then Daytona 500, Pres. weekend and then start of spring break. We are going Jan 9-22. It is what it is. Do you think there will still be large crowds due to the economy?

We wnt Jan 6th 2007 and the crowds were very good. The weather was warm the first few nights, good for swimming. Then it cooled down alot. Bring clothes for all types of weather:mickey:

My plan is to leave Oklahoma on the 1st and go to my parents in Pensacola.Then leave their house the 2nd or the 3rd and stay through the 10th. If the marathon is not until the 8th, we would probably have a few good days of low crowds, maybe? My bday is the 9th and I would really like to be there on my bday. I guess if we go, we will just make due with whatever the crowds are like. I will just be glad to be at WDW.:mickey:
