Just wondering....does anyone know how much character interaction there is on the ship? Will the kids see the characters around the ship? Do they make appearances at dinner or at the shows?

We have booked a land/sea package and I am getting ready to book our adr's. So I am trying to decide whether or not to book all character meals or will the kids get a good dose of character interaction on the ship.

Thanks a bunch!:

There is scheduled time and some surprise visits. The scheduled autograph sessions and photo sessions take place every day in the Atrium area of the ship. Your Navigator will tell you exactly who will be there and at what time. This happens throughout the day. The characters also show up at the deck parties and for more photos on Castaway Cay. Surprise visits are not uncommon in the kids clubs and if your timing is right, you may see one or two characters at the terminal just before boarding begins.

I don't believe I've ever heard of a situation where they just show up at the restaurants.

We were sitting up on the 9th deck one afternoon enjoying some snacks and the next thing we knew, Goofy was sitting there at our table with us. Great photo op. But we had to chase him away when he tried to hide a whole plate of our chocolate chip cookies under his shirt. :goofy2:

There are definitely well published and scheduled appearances. You can find these in your Navigator and on the screens in the lobby. But you will definitely be surprised by running in to characters in different places. We ran into Max, Goofy's son, walking through the photography place. We rode the elevator with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. You just never know who you'll see and where!

Like everyone has said, there are scheduled times for the characters. We too have been on the elevator with Donald Duck. And we saw Goofy with his life preserver on during the drill. Also, on the 7 night cruises there is one character breakfast that you get tickets to.

We are just back from our second land/sea trip. We did not do any character ADRs at Disney World beforehand because we learned from the first time around we would see the characters on board. My boys are huge character fans, though Stich made a visit to the Oceanneers Club one night and my boys are still talking about it! The little girls that travelled with us looooved to meet with all the princesses. That is a highlight on the cruise...get in line early if you have little girls! :mickey:
