10 Magical Nights at Disney’s Boardwalk Villa’s

Meeting up with dolphinmickey9170 (Kristen) and her family, DH Ben, DD Katy and DGD Keara.

Food….we were on the traditional dining plan and wow did we enjoy all the food (as always). Of course, we used every credit provided over the course of our 11 day stay…this is where the “Found” comes in. Somehow, DH & I managed to “find” some extra pounds. We ate at some of our old favorites and tried some new restaurants. Our new experiences included: Breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinners at O’hana, Kona, Le Cellier and San Angel Inn. Our oldies but goodies included: Lunch @ Sci Fi, breakfast at Cape May, dinner at The Concourse Steak House and comfort food dinner at Liberty Tree. We had made ADR’s for many of these with Kristen, Ben, Katy and Keara, which was terrific, because we were able to have friends to share dinner with.

During the trip, I decided that I did not want to do another sit down breakfast, so Kristen offered for us to hitchhike with them and eat at Kona. A quick call to WDW DINE while at MK and they were able to get us in with them, despite the ressie being for the very next day. Yahoo!! This was my favorite meal the whole trip!! Thank you, Kristen for letting us crash your dinner. I had Pan Asian noodles (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5020857858/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529) with chicken and shrimp, John had Teryiaki sirloin, Colby enjoyed a steak and Kaylee had grilled chicken and pasta with just butter. My noodle dish was so tasty! The rest of the family loved their meals as well. The dessert was equally as flavorful. John indulged in a chocolate macadamia nut torte (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5020861386/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529) and I had the chocolate lava cake (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5020857860/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529). The kids had make your own sundaes.

We also enjoyed Le Cellier. We were starving at this meal, so we opted to partake in appetizers, which included a Caesar salad and Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup. The bread was yummo, too! I had the chicken and John the strip. We shared our dishes. Dessert was sinful. John had the chocolate whiskey cake and I ordered the chocolate mousse (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5019859521/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529). The kids loved the look of the moose…er… mousse, so we splurged and purchased an extra one for them to share. I wish that they would have one on the kids dessert menu, as this was the highlight of their meal.

There were so many other meals that were fantabulous. Specifically, I remember the amazing flavors of O’hana (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5018412580/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529), including the bread, pork dumplings and skewers. A meal fit for a King! My favorite “adult” drink was the Pina Colava (http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=219567858/PictureID=5018415977/a=34616529_34616529/t_=34616529). Refreshing, sweet and tasty. I couldn’t order another, though, ‘cause I would have been on the floor!

For counter service, we tried Yak and Yeti and shared two meals between three of us. It was a great CS meal, and a nice change from burgers. We ordered crispy honey chicken and sweet and sour pork. They were both served with white rice. They were hot and tasty and a good portion size. I do wish they gave fried rice in lieu of the white rice, though. It happened to be pouring at the time we got our take out, and we all agreed that this restaurant should have more seating. We were asked to take a survey about our meal at Y&Y when leaving AK, and I made sure to mention the seating.

The cheese danishes at MK Bakery and at DHS (Starring Rolls) are like no other. Fresh, creamy and sweet! DH loved the ham, egg and cheese croissants at MK Bakery, and Colby could not have enough cherry danishes!

Columbia Harbour House did not disappoint, either. We ate here on our last night, and took some advice from here on the boards and enjoyed our meal on the second floor. Colby and Kaylee shared a chicken nugget (adult) meal and John and I shared a tuna sandwich. We wanted to leave some room for other goodies throughout the MK.

One thing that I noticed about the DP this time over our last visit in Aug ’07 was that they were more flexible with the credits. We often shared meals and used the kids CS credits for breakfast. At Wolfgang Puck Express, they even let Colby order any lunch item he wanted, when he expressed disappointment at the kids meal offerings. Colby is 9 but has an adult palette. He enjoys the good food that we do as opposed to pb&J sandwiches or mac & cheese.
