May 2, 1878 – Actor-comedian Roy Atwell, the voice of Doc in Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, was born in Syracuse, N.Y.
May 2, 1925 – Teacher-turned-actor Roscoe Lee Browne, the voice of Arrow in Disney’s 2002 “Treasure Planet”, and also credits in Disney’s 1988 “Oliver & Company”, was born in Woodbury, N.J.
May 2, 1927 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice’s Knaughty Knight” was released.
May 2, 1937 – Actor, writer, TV producer, musician and voice actor Lorenzo Music was born Gerald David Music in Brooklyn, N.Y. He would go on to voice characters for such Disney TV shows as “Talespin” and “The Gummi Bears.” (He would be best remembered as the voice of cartoon cat Garfield and the voice of Carlton the doorman on the TV comedy series Rhoda.)
May 2, 1964 – Disney’s 4th World Fair exhibit, “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,” finally made its N.Y. debut after weeks of technical problems.
May 2, 1982 – Today was the first day Epcot Center site tours for Cast Members and their families took place. Narrated tours for the theme park left every half-hour. (Epcot would officially open Oct. 1, 1982)
May 2, 1989 – The Disney Channel aired episode 7 of MMC, “Today is Guest Day!”
May 2, 1990 – Actress Kay Panabaker, who lent her voice to Monsters Inc., was born in Tx. (TV fans would recognize her as Nikki in the series Summerland.)
May 2, 1993 – The Theater of Stars, a 1,500 seat amphitheater located just to the right of the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant in Disney’s MGM Park, closed. It would be removed to make way for the construction of the new Sunset Boulevard area.
May 2, 2007 – The annual Dreamers and Doers Awards were handed out at Epcot. The program honors well-rounded students who have shown academic success, leadership, character and community involvement. A total of 100 students were honored.
