If we are visiting family for 2 days upon our arrival, and then checking into our Disney hotel, can we use the magical express service to get back to the airport for our departure date? Thanks so much!:mickey:

Yes.

DME can be used one-way, in either direction.

The only real rule is that if you get a ride from airport to resort it can't be BEFORE your check-in day (but it can be after) ...

... and if you get a ride from your resort to the airport it can't be AFTER your check-out date (but it can be before).

Please post again if you have other questions.

Absolutely!! We did just that earlier this month.

When we arrived in Orlando, we rented a car and drove to the coast to visit relatives. When we arrived at WDW, we drove straight to the Car Care Center over by MK and returned our rental (National and Alamo are located there). The rental car bus took then took us to our resort where we checked in. (we could have gone to the resort first, but returning the car by noon saved us another day's rental, and we were kind of pushing it to get there on time).

When we left WDW, we used Disney's Magical Express to take us to the airport. It worked out fabulously.

This was our first time using DME. We loved it! We were able to check our carry-on baggage with bell services once we checked in to the resort and then we were able to go off and explore. Our bags came to our room just as it was ready right at 3 p.m. Just remember to pack a carry-on bag because sometimes delays happen and if you need medications, want to change, or there's other stuff you can't live without, make sure it's with you. Even being a Saturday, the service was efficient getting through hundreds of incoming passengers. Just be aware that you might have to stop at one or two other resorts before getting to yours. So, keep in mind if you have made ADRs that you have enough time built in.

Then, it's really simple to return to MCO. If you're on one of the participating airlines you can check your bags at your hotel for your flight home and they deal with the rest. Otherwise, bring your bags with you about three hours before your scheduled flight time (the night before you check out, you'll get a notice on your resort door telling you what you need to do and where you need to be).

It was a great experience except that they overbooked our return bus ride so two kids had to sit on their parents laps so me and DH could fit on the bus. I've never received such an evil eye from a 6-year-old before.
