I'm looking for the DVD set of the first trilogy as it was shown in the theaters...not Lucas's manipulated stuff. I remember seeing it in Best Buy and knew I should have picked it up. Now, there seems like there are a million Star Wars DVD sets out there.

Can someone help me. I don't know what I'm looking for, as far as a box design. Some of the listings on Amazon and eBay are not specific enought. All I want are the DVDs with the version of their original theatrical releases in the late 70s/early 80s.

Thanks!

I found THIS (http://www.amazon.com/Trilogy-Exclusive-original-theatrical-releases/dp/B000IKHNT8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1209055895&sr=1-2) on Amazon.com. I searched "Star Wars Original" ... be sure and use the link to Amazon.com under Icot affiliates on the right side of the INTERCOT page ... they are one of our partners! :mickey:

I'm not sure that they were released as a package except for an exclusive Best Buy collectors thing. I remember them being released individually for a limited time as two disc sets in 2006. The sets included the original theatrical release as well as the newer "enhanced" one. Definitely do not buy the sets with Darth Vader on the cover or the cartoonish image released in 2004 and 2005 because those are the newer versions. Good luck on your search.

They were originally released as individual DVDs only. I'm not sure if I can link to it, but look for the individual titles with the blue bars on the top and bottom of the cases for the full screen versions, gold bars for the widescreen versions.. They should say "Limited Edition". The Amazon product titles have the year the original was released in the title as well. There is a listing for a box set, but it's $150, which is insane since the individual discs are less than $15 each.

Here are the links if the mods don't mind. If so, then just remove them. All of the links are for the widescreen versions.

You probably know this, BUT the Star Wars "Original" Theatrical releases ARE NOT Remastered, Enhanced, etc. Lucas has yet to release what his fans truely want and that's a Remasterd Original Theatrical Release...

It's tough to swallow the bad quality of the original release version on DVD, it just seems like something is missing, especially compared to the remastered version. It looks incredible!

Yup, that's them. I bought them at Walmart before x-mas for $10 each, the only reason I bought them was the price and to get the original versions on DVD (even though they are not re-mastered, it's still better than my old VHS tapes).
