Animal Kingdom Lodge ?

Question for those of you familiar with Animal Kingdom Lodge-- do you need to pay the extra for the "Savanah View" to see the animals outside your room? We're thinking of staying there a couple of days in August. Is it worth the extra $65 or so per night? Has anyone ever booked a regular room and got upgraded? What have some of you paid for annual pass rates, should they be released for that time? Would like opinions of those who have stayed there. Thanks, Mark

Is it worth the extra $65 or so per night?It depends on your budget. There are other locations within the resort, where you can watch the animals. There's something special about seeing them from your own balcony though.
Has anyone ever booked a regular room and got upgraded?This actually used to be a very common occurence, but it doesn't happen much anymore. I'd definitely suggest that you book the room view that you're going to be happy with.

We love watching the animals in the morning. We sit on the balcony while everyone is getting ready. Also, you can see the animals at night sometimes. It's very peaceful to watch them as you unwind from a long day at the parks. If your budget allows, you should get the savannah view for sure.

Like the other said it depends on your budget.

But in my opinion, if you are going to stay at the AKL to see the animals and for the full experience of the resort, and since you are already paying that much to stay there, then it's better off to make it truly worth while and get a savanah room. That's why you are there is to experience what's so special about the resort, which includes seeing the animals from your room. If you are staying in a room looking at the pool or especially the parking lot, then you could just as well stay at any other resort.

Having said that though, if you budget doesn't allow it, any other room at AKL is still nice and you can still have a wonderful experience/stay there. There are plenty of other spots to see the animals.

If you are going to spend the $$ for AKL, another $65 per night won't be that big of a difference. You have to go for the Savannah view. It is a very unique aspect of AKL. Have fun!:party:

Book the savannah view room if you want to watch the animals from your balcony. This unique experience is worth the extra $.
