No kids or pets here. I'd have pets (cats), but hubby is allergic. And, I prefer meat on my pizza rather than vegetables. I actually like regular crust (somewhere between deep dish and thin), but my diet dictates that I eat thin crust if I eat pizza.

Rhonda is Frankie still needing pixie dust? Just in case he does..:pixie: if not he can just have a rootbeer from the new A & W that just opened here.

I haven't heard an update from him, but pixie dust never hurts (unless you get it in your eye), and I know he wouldn't turn down a rootbeer float!

How come I'm not on the JQ meet list? Not welcome? :( I'll be at POP 10-15

Have any of you ever had a transformer blow up right outside your building?

Well, it wasn't outside my building, but I had it happen outside the restaurant that I was dining at once. It knocked the power out to a whole row of restaurants and businesses.

I have a question for all of you that went WDW last Oct. Are the parks all decorated for Halloween like they are for Christmas?

Not so much. The most decorations are at the Magic Kingdom.

Mornin' all! Up and at 'em early today. (Actually woke up by a fit of coughing, but regardless, I'm awake!).
DD16 is off to the state choir competition. Her choir is one of only 24 to make it to the state competition. Wish her luck! (By the way, she's the one who gave me this coughing crud, so maybe some :pixie: for her voice!). They likely won't know the results until Monday, since the competition is a ways away, and they are not staying until the end.

Other than that, not much - the typical cleaning, pop a cough drop, laundry, pop a cough drop....you get the idea. The weather is supposed to be good - even better tomorrow. Anyone doing anything extra special today?

Morning all. I'm feeling a little :( today. Don't know why. Does anyone else get in these funky moods for unknown reasons?
Sarah,I'm so glad you are getting to go! I must have missed the post that said you were coming, I didn't mean to leave you off our list.

Does anyone have a funny for me?

Deb, is it rainy and cloudy and yucky there? I get that way when it's yucky outside, the weather really plays with my moods...when it's yucky I feel yucky, when it bight and shiney...I'm bouncing worse then Tigger.

No problem, I'm on the list now!

Sorry you don't feel chipper today. I have a story that might cheer you up. As I said before I was going to the Animal Humane Association adoptathon today. We had tents set up in a huge parking lot of the local Lowes. Well I got there at 9:15 and the very first family I meet wants to adopt this puppy and the puppy's name was Sara. It was perfect!! So things get crazy and this older lady come up to me and asks me if I'll get this dog out of the crate for her. I went over and there's this little black chihuahua mix in the back of the cage scared to death! I thought, oh great, I'm gonna get bit. But I crawled in and got the little one out, he was terrified. We went outside and he was shaking very scared. The lady was very interested and said she would go get their dog so they could meet. Sometimes when people say that they don't come back. She was back within 20 minutes with her sweet dog and they got along great. She ended up taking him home today. It was the best thing ever!! :puppy:

I also ended up coming home with two foster kittens. They're about 3 weeks old, have to bottle feel them. If I can figure out how to link to a picture on here, I will show you guys a picture!! :cat:

SO I told you I was a mutant right? I love the animals, they are everything to me!

Hope you all had a great, wonderful Saturday, I'll talk to you later

I get called Buddy. Is that good or bad? I think he thinks I'm a trouble maker or something.

Hey, Emily, since we are the bellydancers, do you think we should be teaching Pogo and Alex how to dance? I think Alex would look lovely in a bellydance outfit. I think he could make that belt really jingle!!! :D

I love the fact that you are bottle feeding kittens! I almost took home a 4day old lab to bottlefeed. The mother is a pet of a teacher friend of mine the placenta didn't fully expell and now the mama has a fever. I ended up not taking it, because if it died I would feel too guilty. Now, I think I am having a down day because I didn't take it. I am an animal freak too! How did we get this way?

The what and the when are still a little loose. We are trying for something on the saturday in the morning for Mary & likely something on the Friday evening.

Would Thursday Am suit anyone else? We do still have a long long way to go...

Thursday morning would work for me too. We were planning on going to MGM, oops Hollywood Studios, but probably can break away for a little while. We are doing the Christmas party that night

Wow.... doesn't anybody else work ???????

I do I do, unfortunately I feel like I've been living there for a long time.

Deb, sorry to hear the your in a funky mood, I get the same way from time to time. Especially since one of my good friends have move away and now I don't unfortunately do much on my days off. I need to get a life huh?

I haven't been around for a little while, too much work and too little INTERCOT time for Mary. So :welcome: to our new people, the JQ group are a good bunch.

I had taken in a litter one time of five kittens. Two of the girls did die, one in my arms. It was very sad :( We did get our baby kitten Georgie from that litter though and I can't imagine life without him. Sometimes it's sad, but to give these little ones a chance is the best thing I can do to help.

Don't feel sad that you didn't take the puppy, it's hard because they don't always make it. Sometimes it's just not meant to be.

I think I will just have to take the temporary membership for the time being. I won't go over to the dark side.
Welcome Tina, to our crazy little section of the world... you'll love it here!! :D You seem to have caught on very quickly....

Tomorrow is a big huge adoptathon for the animal group I volunteer for. So how many people have animals here? From my signature you can see I have seven, four cats and three dogs. This place is a zoo!!

That's awesome that you did the adoptathon... I'd take them all in, if I could!! We don't have a zoo, but it's not from a lack of trying... ... currently, we have a 5yr old black lab named Bailey, a 14yr old old man cat named Calvin and a spunky 10 mo. old kitten named Quincy, who is my baby. :) Oh, and I believe one or two hamsters are on the way in June...

Right now we have one pet, a big lug of a Great Dane. She is spoiled beyond belief, and very insistent on being patted and having her ears rubbed. (Or am I thinking of DW?)
:funny:

Yes, you all really are good at tracking folks down. And if I forgot to say it at the time it really did make me feel good that all of you would go to the trouble to figure out how to get hold of me to check up and see how I was doing. THANK YOU!!!

You're welcome!! It's actually quite enjoyable...

So what about the rabbits we raise?

This reminds me of what we always tell people when they ask if we name our rabbits. Our response is; do you name your food before you eat it? That always gets peoples attention!
I was so happy to hear you raised rabbits... 'til that last comment.... :( ... I LOVE rabbits!! I've had 3 in my lifetime -- Benjamin, Keswick & Frances... and our neighbors just got two babies, so I feel the urge to get some again coming... maybe next year....

What's the weekend plans? I know what a certain person from NYC and her son's plans are and I'm jealous.
Me too!!! :mickey:

So that leaves us with one new mutt, one existing cat, four ducks and about 40 rabbits!
You've got ducks, too?? We'd love to have a pond and a few ducks... Dan loves ducks, although we haven't quite figured out why, but he really does. We've got more pictures of them from whenever they show up when we're out hiking, at a park, at WDW.... we absolutely loved the ones at the Flame Tree Bbq at AK that come right up to your table and eat out of your hands... that was awesome!! I had a duck in college, a white one... his name was Maverick, and he was so cool!! As I raised him from a baby, he thought I was mom and when he was old enough to go out on the pond, would follow me back up to the college classrooms and wait outside whatever door he saw me go in and quack and quack and quack... they actually had to come get me once to take him back to the pond!!

I have a question for all of you that went WDW last Oct. Are the parks all decorated for Halloween like they are for Christmas?
They sure are -- it was GREAT!! You will love all the decorations... it feels so "Halloweenish" and totally fall... we loved it!

Anyone else watching the Kentucky Derby right now? It's almost post time for the 134th run for the roses. The first leg/jewel of the Triple Crown.
We watched it... so sad about the 2nd place horse, wasn't it?? We are horse lovers in this family, and that just broke our hearts. :(

Sorry I was missing yesterday and today... just too busy to get on much. Tonight I'm at work, obviously on the "computer" floor - - I hope you're all having a good night!!

What's everybody up to???

That's only because when he was here he was with Patti thus unable to partake of the Albuquerque Hooters. Instead we went to Texas Land and Cattle (excellent cover I must say, don't ya think?) :D

Things like Nyquil get me to sleep fast, but I generally wake up within a few hours with my mind racing and can't get back to sleep. Any other remedies? Guess I could count DDPI receipts...

Things like Nyquil get me to sleep fast, but I generally wake up within a few hours with my mind racing and can't get back to sleep. Any other remedies? Guess I could count DDPI receipts...

DW got a van full and we have to go back tomorrow afternoon and pick up a cabinet that woudln't fit--we'll have to borrow SIL's pickup truck. Most of the jun...merchandise will go straight into the shop.
A straight-up :marg:, heavy on the straight-up part???

So - what happens to all your "merchandise" then? Is that what you keep sending all of us??? :D

Sigh... I'm not used to nights like these.... I think I may have to allow my OCD tendencies to take over and do a little trip-planning. Nothing like scoping out ADR's and such to keep one's mind awake!! Plus, we've got few summer trips I ought to think about first... ;)

I wish!! We've got a stash at home, but the pirate home guarding it is fast asleep and unwilling to get up and share, I'm thinking. And I just might find my bosses not very understanding of my partaking if I did.... Just had a few chocolate-dipped strawberries, though... would you like a few??

Do you want to plan a few trips for me? Gilles won't give imput on anything. I have 157 days until our trip, no ADR's yet. I think I have us going to MNSSHP on the 13th and that's only because we head home the next day along with that day being Canadian Thanksgiving we'll be going to LLT for dinner. All I know is that we will be going to Epcot to F&WF. I think will our last trip to WDW because he wants to go elsewhere.

Who wants to go to a birthday celebration in the park with me today at 2:00? We are celebrating Gage's birthday which was last Wednesday, but today is the first day all the in-laws and out-laws (relatives) could get together.

I slept last night, I just had a cat that thought everyone had to be up at 6 am. That is a new thing he is doing.

I'd love to be there, Deb, but I have recital practice from 12-12:30. Do you have anyone to fly me there, quickly? Would I be an outlaw if I showed up or is that Pogo's title?

Where has Diane been lately? She been really quiet.

Morning all! How are things?

Made a breakthrough this morning. I finally got one of the kittens to **** from the bottle. It was really hard. I got up last night around 3:30 to feed them and the one is perfect at it just ***** right on the bottle, fills his little belly up and done. The other one just wouldn't get with the program, he kept chewing on the nipple and getting frustrated, his little arms and legs were flailing all around. So I just kept at it, I was even squeezing the bottle to shoot milk in his mouth, anything to get him some food. Well I just got up around 1/2 hour ago to feed them again and same thing, so frustrated, just chewing. I'm like little man you have to figure this out or you won't get enough to eat and there he goes, just figured it out and it was like a lightbulb went off. It was so great!!

Blythe, are "real" babies like that too? I've never had one of my own. We had another kitty that I had to bottle feed (our Minnie) but she seemed to catch on pretty quick. This little guy just wanted to fight it.

So that's my happy story for today! :) I'm gonna go lay down for a little bit longer, they will need to be fed again in a few hours.

Take care all, talk to you soon

Deb I hope you have a great time at Gage's party! Not sure how many days left till Dec 6th..but it's too many that's for sure.

I found Micheal Clyaton to be odd..however not as odd as the notion of splitting the last HP movie into two movies.

And Pogo I forgot to mention I don't have any piercings not even my ears! No tatto's either I guess I'm just not a fan of needles.

Jym & Ken your DDI lists and cards were quite funny.

Hope you all have a wonderful day..check back later.:mickey:

I saw them Friday, but the dates were a little messed up and then by Friday night they were gone. I'm hoping to find them again tomorrow and then order my MNSSHP tickets.

That's a great story!! I'm such a cat lover, esp. when they're babies... my favorite time. I've never had to bottlefeed one, though... that'd be special. I'm so glad your little guy got it!!

Yes, some "real" babies are just like that... they chew on the (questionable word, maybe??) and can't quite get the hang of it for quite awhile. Sometimes it just takes awhile for that natural instinct to kick in, I guess, regardless of the species!!

Oh I didn't know the "s" word was not allowed. I think you all get the picture, and I'm talking about kittens so no offense ;)

Absolutely... with the house purchase, I've got to work some serious OT before and after school is out to be able to do all the stuff we'd like to do around here AND be able to pay for our trip and our summer fun. But it all makes it worth it when things start getting done and paid for -- gotta love that feeling!!

Ditto -- Dan gives some input, but leaves most of the details to me, as I enjoy it, and he just doesn't have time or get into the details as much as I do. He does like to help pick restaurants, and if we're choosing resorts, he likes checking them out... but as far as the where & when, that's all me. But I love it!! And it sure helps the time go by!!

So - how was everyone's Sunday? Mine is short-lived around here... I got up around 4pm, and I head back out at 6:30. My "surfing" time is my "coffee is kicking in" time, so no one bugs me and it's a beautiful thing, while it lasts! Now I'm off to the showers.... anyone have any good & simple ideas for dinner??

Steak on the grill sound great. Can I have mine medium please?

Some kids are so nice and others are just so mean. We had 3 parties today.:party2: Some of the kids were so nice, they helped the smaller ones with the games and play area. Don't get me started Tina. When the weather is nice we prop the doors of the store open to get fresh air in before we have to turn on the air conditioner for the summer. One nice day, a couple of weeks ago we had the doors wide open, when a mother and her bra...oops, I mean dear child came into the store. She went to the back of the store and let her bra... child run all over. When she came to the front of the store she looked at us and told us we better be watching him so he doesn't run out the door. Um, excuse me, who's child is he? I don't get paid enough to run the store, and babysit her child. I don't understand these people who think it's everyone else's job to watch their children.

So is everyone ready for Monday? I am because I have it off!!! The down side is that I'll have to work the next 5 days in a row with Mother's day off and then another 5 in a row.

I'm sure we all have stories like this... just yesterday, I was leaving with Julia to go to ballet, and saw 4 little boys jumping in the piles of leaves and brush Dan painstaking raked to the front of our yard for the "brush guys" to pick up. Mind you, there are rules about how your brush has to be so they can get at it most easily, and jumping little kids don't keep the piles that way, I can assure you! But they weren't alone... there were four adults all standing in the street, smoking, watching the boys jump and toss the leaves and sticks everywhere. Now, they saw us come out of our house and watch them, but no one said a word to the boys. (Our house is quite a ways away from the road, so I couldn't just call over to them.) So, Julia went and got in the car, and I could hear them whooping it up even more, so I looked around my car at them again... very pointedly... and they just stared back!! Julia asked if I was going to say anything.... I said no (I'm VERY non-confrontational, and I didn't recognize these people as neighbors...) She said, "Are you trying to be a good neighbor?" and I just said, "Yes..." and left it at that. We have quite a long driveway, and I began to back out, at which point the little boys decided it would be a good idea to run back and forth across the end of our driveway!! So I stopped.... and they continued doing it... I was sorely tempted to open my window and ask the parents what their intentions were, was I supposed to treat them like targets?? But again, I was a nice person and paused.... at which point the two women began screaming at the boys to get out of the way and other various and insundry things I can't write here... mind you, these boys were little... and the women just kept screaming at them, smoking and standing there. The two men just walked away!! So - here are these adults, who don't know me from Adam, aren't a part of the neighborhood... just allowing their kids to run rampant over our property... not doing a thing about it until I have to stop my car from hitting them, and then screaming at them. Needless to say, I was dumbfounded and I just used it as a "teaching lesson" for Julia, and drank my coffee and thanked God for my little family. :)

Okay... that was WAY too long a post for me... I'm done for now....

Anybody have any good dessert food they'd like to share??

Quiet!! Both in and out -- it's been a nice break this weekend from the chaos that's been around here lately!!

Do your kitties sit by the screen & cry if you guys go outside? Quincy does - and he hasn't grown into his voice yet, so he still sounds like he's about 3 months old... it's so sad, it's pathetic. ;)

We still have about 8 weeks of school... they don't get out 'til June 26th! When does school start for your girls?

For the summer, my girls go over to the Parks & Rec program in the mornings that our town has at their school. Then they are going to a drama camp after lunch 'til about 2:30 or 3pm. This is for the first month... after that, we'll just take it as it comes... I've got a bunch of vacation days scheduled in August, and my MiL will probably come out and help a bit, my neice likes to come over and spend a few nights and watch the girls, as well. (She's 16) Luckily, as I only work 3 nights/wk., I can schedule myself for extra Fridays or work it around when folks can help... and they're pretty good about letting me sleep if we're on our own... I just set my alarm to get up and check on them periodically, and they're good about staying inside, etc. I just hate doing that to them in the summer! Last year, they went to camp, but this year it just doesn't fit in with the drama/soccer stuff they want to do, so we're skipping it.

Was that a long enough answer for you?? (Can you tell I'm still in the process of figuring out their schedule?? You just gave me the chance to organize it into one paragraph...)

My kids are done June 12th. They start school in the fall the week after Labor Day. This fall my youngest starts 1st grade!!
For the summer, the little one will go to daycare at least 3 days a week (maybe everyday), even though the older ones are at home. They do so many cool things there in the summer, and take field trips almost everyday! The older ones? They become slugs, unfortunately. DD13 is going to camp the end of june. We have a couple other things in the works for the summer. Sure wish the oldest would get her license (Did I really just say that???), so she could get a job for the summer! Good Morning JQ'ers the coffee is on as well as the water for tea hot chocolate. Along with juices and soda of your choice. And anyone like to try some breakfast bread? It's actually pretty good.
Well anyway up date about PirateGal and I staying at the world in December.
Those date will be the 16-19 at OKW.
And we're staying with family. I've filled out a bid sheet to switch days off from Wednesday/Thursday to Thursday/Friday.
So who's up to a mad dash in a park? And which one? :D

You are one smart cookie ! Let me drop a hint in his ear in December. Do you think that might help ?? :D

I guess I'm just going to have to make December work, if I want a chance to meet ya!
I think that would be the smart thing to do ! :D

Ernest & Julio?
You crack me up ! :funny:

Good morning my lovely friends!!!!!!!!!! How are you all on this fine Monday morning? The weather's gorgeous and the sun is shining bright.....but I have no voice! It's completely gone.............but I can still type. :D

Hey, Emily, since we are the bellydancers, do you think we should be teaching Pogo and Alex how to dance? I think Alex would look lovely in a bellydance outfit. I think he could make that belt really jingle!!! :D

Yes ----- I think we should do a bellydancing 101 class with the JQ Boys......Pogo, Alex, Scott, Jym, Ken....can you see it now???????? Their hipscarves would have to be neon pink!
I also think we should be the official JQU Professors of Belly dance, what do you think???

I'm not sure we'll go to it. I hate to pay another $100 for something I'm not sure is worth it ! What do you think ???

Morning all, I don't start the new job till tuesday at 1pm (how's that for a weird time)

So I have one last do nothing much day.

Pogo we love the MVMCP and the MNSHP so much we did the Christmas one twice in one trip once. The special parade is fantastic as are the holiday wishes..and the carolers are so much fun. The short lines don't hurt either..and we've always taken advantage of the photopass discount too. At any rate the party atomsphere is something to see.

I think we are feeling the thursday one for us but we are still debating that a little.

Is there more coffee hanging about?

Personally, I didn't think it was worth it. The fireworks and parade was nice. We really didn't go on any rides, but it was so crowded you could hardly get around and we went on a Tuesday. It seemed to me that everything started within 15 minutes apart and it was hard to get from one thing to next. I wanted to see Mickey's Night before Christmas and could never get there because of the crowds of people just standing around and nobody moved when you said excuse me, may I get though. I'm still wanting to try MNSSHP though. :D

You know, Jasper's still feeling a little skittish after that 5.2 quake they just had in Indiana. Do you really want to cause a 9.0?

Now if you want a small town, come on over here--we're about 3000 or so.

Had a busy weekend. DW bought lots of stuff at the auction and all but a huge cabinet and a couple fo boxes fit into the van. So, we had to go back on Sunday and get the rest. I didn't get much else done except some laundry I needed to finish (it tends to look a little more professional when you wear socks to work).

We have our primaries tomorrow. I think I'm going to write somebody's name in. Jym, you wanna be President this year? "A possum in every pot" would be a good slogan, don't you think?

Hi all... I'm a tired, grumpy person today, but at least being on here puts a smile on my face! We're having some issues with our closing date, and there's some stuff going on at work again I'm going to have to fight through on Thursday -- so between the two issues, I didn't sleep very well today and am feeling a bit on the cranky side. :( Sorry!

You are one smart cookie ! Let me drop a hint in his ear in December. Do you think that might help ??

I just put some on, but I have a feeling it's too late for most of you to want it....

We're thinking Thursday, too, as the Tuesday parties seem to be busier for some reason. Plus, we're arriving Tuesday, and I'd like to not go the first night we get there! We're avoiding the wknd parties for the same crowd reasons...

I'm still wanting to try MNSSHP though.
Having never been to MVMCP, I can't compare it to MNSSHP, but I have a feeling you'll love it, and will enjoy it more than you did MVMCP. I wish we were going again this year!!

Jym, you wanna be President this year? "A possum in every pot" would be a good slogan, don't you think?
:funny:

So - I've got to find a way out of this funk.... I know it's just b/c I'm tired and a bit stressed, but that always seems to sap my energy and make me want to just wander around in circles, getting nothing done. There's nothing I can do about the closing - the lawyers just have to figure out their paperwork/title document info - but we were supposed to close last Thursday, now we're shooting for Wednesday, and that's becoming iffy. Thurs & Fri are difficult for me, as I'm working the nights before and getting up in the middle of my "night" to go to the closing and thus having to go back to work on not much sleep is not a good thing... but may be the only option, as waiting until Monday puts us at our "rate lock" day, and we don't want to risk losing that, either. :( The hardest part is that we've had the closing $$ waiting for over a week now... but b/c you don't get the "final number" you have to bring from the bank until the day before closing, we're basically sitting with our hands tied for spending any extra, just in case the $$ numbers were off in any way! (Can you tell I'm not someone who likes waiting?? ;))

And as far as work goes, it's issues w/ the same woman as before -- I'm meeting with my manager Thursday am after work at my manager's request this time, though, as apparently this woman has decided to try yet again to get me in trouble, and so far, my manager's believing her w/o having spoken to me about it. (You can tell by the whole "stern face, disappointed look" thing she gets going) I've double-checked my own personal info on the night in question and I'm not concerned from my end - I'm just annoyed that this woman can't let bygones be bygones and is going to continue to cause me to have to look over my shoulder and watch my back. I was hoping we were past this.... :(

Anyway - thank you all for letting me vent and for actually reading my vent -- I'm feeling better, I'm smiling and the coffee (2nd cup now) is kicking in, so I'm turning into a smiley human again. :D

How was everyone else's day???

Hello all! Just got back from seeing the doctor's and getting started with the radiation treatment for my thyroid cancer. I have to go back tomorrow and they will do the body scan to see if the radiation is doing its job. If the scan shows that there is still some of the thyroid type of cells still in my body then we will do a second dose. Either way I will have a second scan sometime later in the week which will hopefully be the final one. Then we can start on thyroid medication so I can get back to having some energy!

Do you believe there is only 5 weeks left of school! What do your girls do during the day in the summer, when you are trying to sleep?

My 11 year old would just die if he had another 5 weeks to go. In our local school systems we all get out sometime the week before Memorial Day. Of course, they also go back to school in the middle of August so it is really just a trade off.

We still have about 8 weeks of school... they don't get out 'til June 26th! When does school start for your girls?

For the summer, my girls go over to the Parks & Rec program in the mornings that our town has at their school.

Wow!! The end of June! I know it is all the same in the end, but there is just something about going to school for another month past Memorial Day that somehow just doesn't seem right!

We also have a great park and rec program in our community. Unfortunately my 11 year old feels he is too old for it this year and refuses to go. That is OK because between all the 4-H things he is going to be involved in as well as starting private trombone lessons for when he starts band in the fall he will have a VERY busy summer. Oh yeah, and along the way his mother has lots of things for him to do at her costume store!

You know, Jasper's still feeling a little skittish after that 5.2 quake they just had in Indiana. Do you really want to cause a 9.0?

Now if you want a small town, come on over here--we're about 3000 or so.

Funny you mention the quake because we had another small aftershock over the weekend that was a 3.9. We thought we might be done with them and then this one popped up.

Even though your town is small am I correct in thinking that in your general part of the world that you are close by to some other significantly larger communities?

But, Ken, you're not jumping, just wiggling!!!

Believe me in some of our cases wiggling would cause just as much of a quake as jumping would!!:D:D (I am speaking for myself, of course!)

OK, I think I am basically caught up now. You will let me know if I missed something important won't you?

Blythe I'm sorry for yoru closing troubles...and your work troubles.

Do you still have coffee? You should know by now I never ever think it's the wrong time of day. (Unless I'm really really :ill:)

On a different thread Blythe you said you made little tree skirts for christmas trees. How do you do that? Could I do it with that iron on tape stuff? I ordered an el cheapo tree today. (ok 16 bucks but that's pretty cheap right?) It's DS's fave colour though a nice Christmassy purple :D.

And the belly dancing in either wriggle mode or jump mode just seems wrong..I saw a episode of the Nanny today with bellydancers Carol made me think of you. (Likely a better choice then Ken and Pogo and Alex and Jasper don't ya think?)

Speaking of weird items (cmon a purple tree is odd isn't it?) I got a shoe shaped cake server this weekend from my stepdad. It's so cute! It's just stainless steel not sparkly or anything it's shaped like a high heel (the heel being the handle part).

Natalie, just take a piece of fabric and drape it around it and pin it together in the back. We have just a small fibre optic tree and that's what I do to hide it's base.

You have to remember, belly dancing is more of the hips then the belly. For some odd reason it was Hollywood that gave it that name.

I have a cup right here, does this mean double boilers are out of fashion?

The only thing with the microwave is the clutter issue. DH limits me to one or two things on the counter (not counting the coffee pot) and I have the giant standmixer, the large food processor, the mini food processor, the blender and a toaster. (the stand mixer is normally my one as those things are heavy). I really don't know where to put the microwave and oddly for a new home there isn't a pre built spot for one...plus the cabinet over my stove is too low for one of those models. Guess I'll keep roughing it.

Is there a list of what all that does and what it's for somewhere? Or are we just supposed to figure it out by trial and error?

Weirdly I've had a bunch of people already look at my "page" and theres really nothing on it.

We have a bank meeting today, so please send pixie dust and prayers.:fingers:

The only thing with the microwave is the clutter issue. DH limits me to one or two things on the counter (not counting the coffee pot) and I have the giant standmixer, the large food processor, the mini food processor, the blender and a toaster. (the stand mixer is normally my one as those things are heavy). I really don't know where to put the microwave and oddly for a new home there isn't a pre built spot for one...plus the cabinet over my stove is too low for one of those models. Guess I'll keep roughing it.
I hear you... We melted an over the stove model with Bessie (she's a commercial range). My stand mixer and my knives are the only things that are out (everything else has a happy spot on the lazy susan) -- we had a microwave shelf built in with this house cause I wouldn't have it on the counter either. I need a new food processor ... cause I throw them out if I am not satisfied that they are clean enough.... any suggestions -- cause these hands are often not in shape for choppin'?

I actually don't have a double boiler - I have always used a bowl with a pot - -- BUT have found that chocolate melts best in the "micro-onde".

I have the large Kitchen aid one (about $250.00 on sale at Christmas so not throwing that puppy out), the bowl and accesories are dishwasher safe in additon to hand washing safe..I've found it cleans the best of any I've ever had.

Do you have one of those double handed choppers? My mom does as she has a skin condition that often leaves her hands very sore and that's been a big help to her. (less of a problem gripping)

A pool? My pool's kind of part of the, you know... yard.
Not ours... we have (hopefully soon, it'll be in the past tense) one of the ones you can put up & take down each year. It's 16' round and 44" tall, so it was quite fun and relaxing, an a lot cheaper than putting in a permanent one in a neighborhood we knew we'd be leaving. Unfortunately, you have to have a flat spot to put it up, though, and we don't have a single flat area in our whole yard at this house!! And when I say flat, I mean flat... you can't have ANY sort of slope, or your pool angles that way and it can collapse and be quite dangerous -- ar at the least, you end up with one side having 48" of water, and the other having 36", or something crazy like that. So - definitely worth it to try & sell... I just hope it goes!

Speaking of adding to a collection, okay more like a start of a collection. I got my first Webkinz yesterday and his name is Silver Charm. He's a grey Arabian, not a Thoroughbred like I thinking he was. Lololol

 Good for you! We have quite a collection in this house, although I have to say I've told the girls enough is enough for awhile. But we love them!

I got an email from Diane and she's feeling under the weather lately and having some computer problems on top of it. Send her your prayers and pixie dust for a quick recovery.

Di, sorry to hear you & your computer are under the weather... sending loads of :pixie: your way!!

Does anyone else see stuff called bookmarks and tags at the bottom of each thread they look at or do I just need more coffee?

Yup, I noticed too. Click on your name in the Current Active User list or your profile and you will see a lot more information, like "recent visitors", Friends and other stuff. Is big brother is watching?
Hmmm... I just noticed them, too -- what's up with them? Anyone know how they work??

(and of course you need more coffee... doesn't everyone??)

So - is everyone off to a good Tuesday? I woke up feeling grumbly, but am doing better now. I'm trying to just excercise faith that our closing will happen when it's meant to, and that the delays are for a good reason... and I sent my boss a letter re: our meeting on Thursday, and I feel much better about it now.

I have the day to myself, which means I'd better get myself off of the computer and actually get something done around here!! I hope you guys have a great day... I'll check back in later!!

Weirdly I've had a bunch of people already look at my "page" and theres really nothing on it.

It is about the financing of the building that our family entertainment center is in. Because of closing one business that wasn't doing well and having to wait for permits to open the new business, we got a little behind on the payments. The bank wants some information about the new business and what we expect to happen and when we will be able to get caught up on our payments.
Wouldn't it be great if the banks didn't want their money back?:D

Ya think? Nah..since I just changed I'm not as obbsesive about business as I once was. (perhaps as I only do business investments now and personal lending etc?) What a change that will be...however they do lines of credit and other stuff for business so I suspect I will get back into that very shortly.

Tina one thing I would suggest...make sure your as upfront about potential problems delays etc as you can be. Bankers as a rule are anti surprises. We would far far rather work with a worst case scenario that ends up being better then make a plan and then have to make another plan. It's an issue of credibility really. We want to believe what are customers say, but to often they tell us what they think we want to hear instead of the truth.

Thanks for the advice. My mom and I discussed things last night and we plan on being upfront and honest about everything that is going on. If we promise more that we can give, it will just make things worse in the future, won't it?

How is everybody? Oh, and you too, Carol. :D

And you have a problem with that?? :D

(I'm good, thanks for asking... :))

So - how's this for a twist re: our home closing? And Ken, please feel free to offer your :twocents: on this one, as it's in your line of work...

As you guys know, we were supposed to close May 1st. There seemed to be a problem with the title/abstract on the seller's lawyer's end, so it got pushed to tomorrow. Well, it was obvious yesterday, as the title/abstract problem still hadn't been dealt with, and their lawyer was a no-show/no-call in response to repeated attempts by our closing lawyer to find out what was going on, that the closing wouldn't be happening tomorrow. (Their lawyer was supposed to bring the abstract to our lawyer's office yesterday so it could be gone over and we could proceed with the closing.)

Well, today, our lawyer got after their lawyer and finally found out - their lawyer had LOST the abstract!! Not only did he lose it, but he never told anybody. Okay - so at least now we know, however inept that was on his part. The kicker?? He suggested to the sellers (our landlords) that they charge us back rent for the first 11 days of May, as we were supposed to close May 1st, so obviously didn't have to pay any rent for May. And this from the guy who caused the delay, and never told anybody why, never returned calls, never showed up when he was supposed to!!

Dan has a call in to our closing lawyer to see if we have a leg to stand on in fighting it -- the sellers don't seem super firm on pushing the issue, and hadn't even brought it up themselves until today, which is when their lawyer suggested it. (Dan is of the mind that our lawyer gave him a piece of his mind, and that may have precipatated this "suggestion".)

Sigh... we had wondered if this would come up, but had hoped it wouldn't, as we've been ready to close on our side since mid-April... but the fact that their lawyer is the one suggesting this after he mucked up the works really irks me. :thedolls:

Ken -- honestly, what do you think? Should we be upset, or should we just let it go?

Anyway -- our closing is "tentatively" scheduled for Monday at 2pm.... here's to hoping it works out!!

Anybody have some :marg:??? I could sure use one right now....

Honeys, I'm home. :hi:

We had a great trip... four days that felt much longer (but in a good way). Mikki and Andrew were wonderful hosts.

On the tram at DHS yesterday afternoon, we met a family of first timers who were heading back to their room for an afternoon break. Ben and I told them that we would be back after a seven month break. :mickey: Can't wait to see you all in December.

I've limited my "reading back" to six pages and even that took a good chunk of time. Anyone willing to give me the RD version of what's transpired around here since last Thursday?

Blythe, sounds a bit shady to me and I would think that the other party's lawyer might have a bit of difficulty walking (PM me if you don't get it). As long as the owners don't back out on selling the house to you and Dan, just be patient (even if it's not one of your strong traits). Should Alex and I should be sending Cousin Vito up to help you out at work and with the closing?

Well, back to work! Later, gators!

Well I get home from work to find a message from the bank fraud department. Seems someone tried to charge $10,000 on my visa! They denied the charge, as it was "unusual activity", but now they have to close my account and issue me new cards. Guess I won't be making any travel plans for a few days. ;) The sad thing? I use this card only for larger charges - including travel. The only time its been used recently was at WDW. I honestly believe someone there snagged the number. :( I'm wondering if it was when I purchased things to be shipped home. They attach a copy of the receipt to the bag and then someone packs it for shipping. The only good part is, they actually didn't get away with the charge, and I found out about the card being cancelled before I was trying to use it. I wonder if they will give the the 10,000 airline miles for the charge? :D

Wow!! Was that my little Deb saying all that??? You go, girl!!

Honestly, our sellers probably have more to gain than we do if we backed out or even intimated at it... they know it's a tight market around here, as Marcellus seems to be an "up and coming" town and has lots of interest, not a lot of available houses and even less available land. They were also here a few weeks ago and saw everything we did with the house, and are probably well aware they could have gotten more for it than what they asked... and truth be told, we like them - they're a nice couple. But -- I still firmly feel that any $$ lost during this time lapse should be eaten by their lawyer or by them, as the delay totally falls on their side. So - we'll see what our lawyer thinks, and we'll probably talk with them one of the next few nights. Hopefully they'll be reasonable.

They denied the charge, as it was "unusual activity", but now they have to close my account and issue me new cards. Guess I won't be making any travel plans for a few days. The sad thing? I use this card only for larger charges - including travel. The only time its been used recently was at WDW. I honestly believe someone there snagged the number. I'm wondering if it was when I purchased things to be shipped home. They attach a copy of the receipt to the bag and then someone packs it for shipping. The only good part is, they actually didn't get away with the charge, and I found out about the card being cancelled before I was trying to use it. I wonder if they will give the the 10,000 airline miles for the charge?
Cindy, I can't believe they tried to get away with that much!! Wow -- seems to be an epidemic of this kind of stuff around here. I'm glad they caught it!!

Thanks for the pixie dust... I'm hoping things straighten out over the next few days. You're right, legally they could ask for it... I'm just hoping they don't, now that they know it's their lawyers fault. (They weren't aware of the "lost abstract" part of the equation when they sent us the note re: back rent.) We'll see...

Well folks, I'm off to bed... I hope everyone's having a good night and it's good that all our chicks are back in the nest!! (Yes, Ellen, I'm referring to you... it's so nice to have you back!)

See you all in the am!

You are so right, they aren't big enough to be hogs yet! :D

:rocks: and so does JQU.
I agree!!

Let's see, Pogo, Jym used your card and you used T & G's, do you think I should hide mine?
As quickly as possible with these guys around!

That's good news!! How old are they?

They are about three weeks old and about six ounces a piece. They have to be 2 pounds to get fixed and go up for adoption so we have a ways to go.

So what do you all think about this new "friend" thing? I think it's pretty cool!

So where is Miss Styles today, not sure I've seen her and I could sure use some help in the kitchen, lots of cookies to bake!!

Ummm...no thank you. I need to use it for my trip to WDW. I usually use it to pay for the trip and I get gift cards for spending money while I'm there. That way I don't use the credit card because I could easily get carried away and I don't have to worry about carrying cash with the gift card.

Does anyone have a cure for a sore neck? Or is it that Pogo or Alex is being a pain in my neck? :D

This is the third litter of cats that I've fostered, I have also done one litter of three puppies. You do get attached but not in the way that I want to keep them, just that I want the best for them. It should be $11.75/adult, $9.75/kid 3 - 9. At each you get a 50% discount on a second round played on the same day (since they each have 2 courses I think that's how they do that). Definitely an option for a break from the parks, esp if no tickets that day.

Thanks, maybe we will, depending on how this develops... there's a part of me that knows they have a legal right to rent for the 11 days... but then there's that frugal part of me that says, "Hey -- I've been ready and it's their side that mucked it up, and I don't want to pay for that!" The guy who owns the homebuilding company Dan works for is also a lawyer, and he's of the mind that we should try to work out some kind of middle ground. So - we'll see...

So, I'm headed in to work tonight for some OT... and my meeting with my manager is in the am. :( I'll be glad to get it over with, I made some notes to take with me... sigh... I just hate stuff like this. I'm a very non-confrontational sort-of person, but I also stand up for myself very strongly when I need to. But the combination is stressful... and no :marg: allowed at work... Wish me luck, okay??

Well my license doesn't get renewed. PLUS, I believe there is a penalty of MORE hours in order to get it back! :(

Scott posted the rates correctly. There is also a 50% AP discount and 15% DVC member discount.

Do you know if you can only get the 50% AP discount for just the AP holder? Or does it allow that discount for guests (like I think they do with the DVC discount)?

Somehow this "friend" thing makes me feel like a grade schooler. "Do you want to be my friend?" Next question. If you request to be friends with someone, and the next time you check, the request has disappeared, does that mean they don't want to be my friend?

I can bring some drug rep pens and sticky pads from work if you need them :D
What's a GG number? Anways, sounds like fun, all of it...I'm up for anything (I guess except an Alex/Tom belly dance). I would love to do a wishes cruise of some type, not sure I would ever do that if it wasn't this type of meet.

So I'm waiting for Mike's flight to arrive. They were delayed in Denver over an hour so he's getting in sometime after 10. Geez, I have to work at the crack of dawn tomorrow, I'm gonna be pooped again. Well I told him I'm picking him up in my pajamas and going to bed as soon as we get home. I hope I don't get pulled over in my flannel jammies!

A GG number is the number they assign you when there's a Grand Gathering group reservation link. Someone will need to call and set up the Grand Gathering group and others will need to call with the number to get added. The Grand Gathering number is the number you use to reserve GG events like the cruise or the safari.

So these cookies were actually meant for you? :D Stitch tell's me no way Jose', their ours. Now who gave Stitch coffee? Because he's running amuck over here. Lolol
The pin trading place at the Wide world of Sports was a cool place to visit. the name is very misleading for us who are unfamaliar to WWoS, and the food court doesn't open until 11am and we were there at least 2 hours before that. Got a lot of cool pins even in the grab bags. I'm not sure but I think we might have gotten all of Tink's friends yesterday, and a couple of pins featuring Stitch. They gave us bags to do a little bit of shopping and there I thought was quite a few boxes of pins. there was a graduation pin there and I had thought my Mom/PirateGal had picked it up but she hadn't. :D oopsie
We most of spent about $80 between us and came away with a nice haul of pins. And in the grab bags there are pin lanyards which attach to the belt loop.
Well anyway the coffee is on and the water also, with juices, soda and beverage of choice.
Enjoy

Hey all!

Hope you all are doing well. I got back from Disneyland and had an AMAZING time. The Segway Tour was BETTER than Epcot's, the food was great, and of course the rides were incredible. I leave on Monday with my sister to WDW, where we're staying at Pop.

I actually JUST got a call from Disney, and they want me to come out the following week (19-23) to interview for various recruiting positions...so I'll actually be at WDW 3 times in May...CRAZY! Plus this trip is going to be FULLY funded by Disney (air, hotel, park tix, dining)...so if I don't get the job, at least I got a pretty nice week out of it all! Am I allowed to say I'll be (god forbid) Disney'd out???...Nah not me! :D

Anyone care to join me??? :mickey:

Yea...I thought that was kind of odd as well, until my father also just got a call from a job to have him fly out to Chicago and interview (free air, hotel etc...). I am applying to 3 recruiting positions, and one human resource position between Tues-Thurs, mainly in the mornings, which means I get the late afternoons/evenings free I believe. A lot of it also is like orientation for the jobs etc...so we'll see. I fly out Monday, and fly back Friday. I guess being in the top 5 of great companies in the US means you can afford to do that.

I'm not going to be overly optimistic or anything like that, until I get an offer, which very well might not happen with my luck. Worst case scenario, I get a great experience out of it all. :mickey:

I actually JUST got a call from Disney, and they want me to come out the following week (19-23) to interview for various recruiting positions.

You know, I spent 15 years in Human Resources with 2 different companies, one of which was in the top 5 of all companies in America and the other one was no slouch either. Point being we had no problem flying people in for interviews whenever we felt the need. However, despite having the resources we still had to be able to "prove" that we were seriously interested in a person before the costs would be approved.

I mention that because I am sure that Disney would not be paying for all that stuff unless they genuinely thought they wanted you! My guess is that there is a VERY good chance this will lead to an offer of some kind! Of course, depending on the particular position and how high up the corporate ladder it may be they may take a few weeks to get back with you so don't be disappointed if you don't hear from them for a while after you get back home.

When they have finished with you they should give you some idea of what to expect next and how long it should be until they contact you. However, even the best of people sometimes forget to mention those things so don't feel bad about VERY NICELY asking what is next and how long. If possible also try to get a contact name and telephone number and again politely ask if it is OK to contact them if the alloted time passes and they have not contacted you.

I am very excited for you!!

So anyway, I have not had time to read all the posts from the last few days so if anyone wants to give me the Campbell's condensed soup version of where we are at feel free.

As for my trips to the doctor this week everything has gone OK but after doing the first round of radiation they are still finding more cancer cells when they do the full body scan so I have to go back tomorrow (Friday) and they are going to give me an even stronger dose of radiation. Again, they say it will not make me sick or my hair fall out (of course my wife tells me no one could tell if it did fall out) so other than having to be away from everyone for 48 hours it is not a big deal. The docs are all saying that it is somewhat unusual to have to do a second dose for thyroid cancer but that it is almost unheard of to have to go to a third dose so they expect this to be the end. However, I will have to go back for another body scan sometime next week to see if they got it all this time.

Want to hear a good one about all this? Even though thyroid cancer is one of the most common of all cancers and one of the most easily treated our local hospital is not set up to handle its treatment. Now I realize that most small town hospitals are not set up to handle ANY cancer treatments. But, our local hospital just finished remodeling an existing part of the hospital and installing a new 20 million dollar cancer center and hiring all sorts of new doctors to staff it. So wouldn't you think that they would be able to handle the most basic and common of all cancers? No, even though they are the first, and currently only, cancer center that is affiliated with the Indiana University Cancer Center and can handle many of the most difficult ones they can't do this most basic one! Go figure!!

The President of the company that I last worked for happens to be the the chairman of the Hospital Foundation Board and through him I had become involved in a Human Resource oversight committee at the hospital which brought me into contact with the hospital chairman of the board occasionally. So I have taken the opportunity to send a letter to both of these gentlemen and included some press clippings and advertisements in which they claimed that spending all this money would eliminate all the long trips to other hospitals for cancer treatments. I don't know if it will do any good but it makes me feel better to get it off my chest!

Sorry for the long rant!

Thanks!! As far as the house thing goes, that's exactly what we're prepared to offer, if they ask. They haven't said much since they found out about the "mishap". And speaking of which, the abstract was supposed to be hand-delivered yesterday... guess who still hasn't delivered it??? He's supposed to tomorrow morning at 9:30... we'll see. Supposedly, though, if it looks fine to our lawyer, closing can still probably take place Monday afternoon. :fingers:

Glad to hear your DL trip was so awesome!

I'm jealous of all those trips. My first trip to WDW didn't happen until I was out of college for two years and had just gotten married. 'Course, back then, I think the concrete was still curing throughout the Kingdom.
:rotfl:

My first trip wasn't 'til college, either... I visited a friend down there in my sophomore year, and got to spend a day at MK. Then I didn't go back for another 4 years, and again, only for a day. How did I survive, and grow up into a normal human??? (Hush, you two... I know who you are....)

So - my meeting at work went fine.... my manager really only focused on one little thing that my co-worker was upset about, instead of her littany of (unfounded) accusations. This was probably b/c I had 4 or 5 of my other co-workers in her office over the last few days, vouching for me... gotta love friends. (I didn't ask them to, they just went...) Plus, for the first time, I asked that a union steward be there, and she was able to keep things more focused. So - all in all, I was able to fix something minor that hopefully will keep this woman off my back (we wear locators on the floor so we can be found when a pt calls out, etc... b/c I work labor & delivery as well, I tend to keep mine in my pocket so it doesn't get in the way during deliveries, baby baths, etc. One of the complaints this co-worker had was that she can't locate me when she needs me, so I promised to be sure my locator is more visible. Interesting fact is that about a third of the nurses I work with on her floor NEVER wear their locators... and she doesn't seem to mind not finding them....) and we'll see what happens. But I made it very clear that I wasn't going to allow her to keep picking me apart and having to watch over my shoulder, and b/c the union rep was there, it is now documented. So! Hopefully, this can be over with.

Aren't you all glad you asked???

So - how's Thursday treating everyone?? I've got to go jump in the shower, so I'll try to catch you all later!!

Sounds like it went well! Way to stick up for yourself.

So what day is it today? I keep getting lost in this week. That goodness it's Friday tomorrow, I'm pooped out. Well on my way home now, I'll check in with you all later. Take care!

Tolls?? What tolls???

This may be off topic but have I ever told all of you about my funny toll story from last year? OK, it may only be funny if you know my wife or if you were there but hey, I do know my wife and I was there so I think it is a stitch!

Anyway, we were on our way to the small town of Antioch Illinois which is north of Chicago right on the state line with Wisconsin. For those of you familiar with the interstates in the Chicago area there is the Indiana tollway that obviously comes out of Indiana and connects in with I think Interstate 294(sorry if this is the wrong highway number) around Chicago which is also a toll road. Anyway, in that area they have the deal where if you have the card with the chip you either get a bill or prepay your tolls in advance or whatever for the frequent travelers in that area. Then for the rest of us there are the normal toll lanes.

Well last year we were on our way to visit our friends in Antioch and my wife was driving while I was asleep. At some point my wife wakes me up so that I can check the map to make sure she is on the correct road. Just as she wakes me up I see a toll booth passing by on our far right. Having just woke up I was not really with it but I did ask her if we were suppose to have stopped to pay a toll. She said no and that she hadn't seen any on the main road just on the exit ramps.

Well a very short while later I see signs for a toll up ahead and start looking for coins and my wife proceeds to ask me if this is where we are getting off. I tell her no and she says there is no need to pay the toll yet because we are not exiting. Just about that time we pass under the long overhead bar with the signs for the quick pass tolls or whatever they call it in the Chicago land area.

Needless to say it now dawns on me what has been going on. I again asked my wife if she had seen any signs that we needed to pay a toll and she said no, only when you exit. As it turns out that was the last set of toll gates that we passed. So here I am trying to explain to my wife who is always afraid of getting locked up by the police for the most minor of offenses how the quick pass system works and that she has just blown by who knows how many of these and that they usually are camera patrolled and she will likely be contacted about it later.

My wife would absolutely not believe me so when we arrived at our friends I explained it to them and they agreed with me! Needless to say my wife was a basket case. Fortunately our friends had pity on her and called the number for the system up there and added our vehicle to their bill and we just paid them! When they were billed for it later there was a small "fine" added for going through without that license plate being on they system at the time.

We laughed at my wife for hours and ever sense whenever we travel with our friends they always want to know if she wants to stop to pay the tolls or just pay them later.

I don't understand why, but my wife does not find this to be anywhere near as amusing as we all do!

I think I forgot to tell you guys that I'll be unreachable for a couple of days. I'm going to hunting camp and won't be back until late Saturday.
Is that like Space Camp, but out in the woods? Do you have camp counselors? Do you make smores?

Anyone else up?
Do you ever sleep?

I actually JUST got a call from Disney, and they want me to come out the following week (19-23) to interview for various recruiting positions...so I'll actually be at WDW 3 times in May...CRAZY! Plus this trip is going to be FULLY funded by Disney (air, hotel, park tix, dining)...so if I don't get the job, at least I got a pretty nice week out of it all!
Good luck Greg! I think we are all envious right now!

Can you get me my own parking space?
You can have mine. I think we will fly....:D

I am really hoping to be accepted as a Professor of Pizza and Popcornology:popcorn: What do you think?

I'm asking for a little pixie dust for DD16. She has an AP US History exam tomorrow, and has been very stressed about it. This is the hardest AP class they have, and she's taking it as a sophomore. This will earn her 6 college credits (as a HS sophomore!). I think she will do fine, but hate to see her so stressed. I know she will be THRILLED when the day is over tomorrow.

How're you doing on those CPE's?? Fallen asleep yet?? ;)

So - are you thinking you're coming out our way for anything?? Anytime?? Soon??

Well, we're still all set for closing on Monday... the paperwork has been exchanged and I guess our lawyer's trying to do a bit of negotiating on our behalf about the $$. Interesting good/bad thing came up this morning... there was a big article on the front page of our newspaper about the only two towns in our county doing full-value re-assessments... and of course, Marcellus is one of them!! Supposedly, all homeowners got a letter w/ their new assessments the end of April... so I went to our property tax website and checked it out, and sure enough, our assessment went up about 30%!! I'm not too happy this wasn't shared with us by the owners, as it changes our tax outlay quite a bit per month/year... not that it would've changed our desire to buy the house, but it would've been nice to know. :( That's the "bad" part... the good part of it will show up in a couple of years if we decide to sell, as we're guaranteed to get what we hoped to ask in a few years b/c of the new assessment. So - I'm focusing on the good - but I'm still not real thrilled that the information wasn't openly shared with us, and I had to read about it in the paper.

How's Friday for everyone??

Okay, gotta run - shower time again... I didn't sleep so well today, so I'm a bit sleepy and the coffee hasn't done much good yet. Hopefully I'll be feeling a bit more chipper by the time I get to work!!

Yes, I'm thrilled it's Friday -- even though I'm at work, it means I'm done after tonight 'til Monday night. Yeah!!

I'll have some coffee on for everyone... Dan usually makes it early, so I'll have him make extra. Speaking of Dan/:pirate:CaptJack -- he sends his hello's to everyone, and says he'll be back on soon. But he's been hearing all my stories, and says thank you to everyone for the offers of Cousin Vito and friends -- he said he'd be willing to offer their guy up for some Possum Stew!! ;)

Good luck with your interviews, Greg!!! I agree with Jasper, They wouldn't be paying for your trip if they weren't interested. My Dh had an interview in Cape Cod a few years ago. They paid for both of us to come there. Gilles had told them that I needed to check out the place also, since this was something that involved the 2 of us. The reason he didn't get the job was because it would take too long for the green card for him to work. They thought he could start work in 2 weeks.

Just zooping in for a quick visit. I have a HUGE headache that started just as I was finishing up work today (even though I was really enjoying what I was doing). Everyone glad it's Friday?

Hi Ellen! It seems like forever since you've been around. Hope your headache goes away. Do you need some Tylenol?

Speaking of Dan/:pirate:CaptJack -- he sends his hello's to everyone, and says he'll be back on soon. He's just got too much on his plate b/w work and the house closing... he unfortunately bears a lot of the details surrounding it on himself, as his company is helping us with everything. But he's been hearing all my stories, and says thank you to everyone for the offers of Cousin Vito and friends -- he said he'd be willing to offer their guy up for some Possum Stew!! ;)

:hi: Dan! Long time no post! We just might see you later in the year. ;)

What's everyone's plans for Mother's Day?
Mother's Day we are heading over to my Mom's to celebrate Mothers Day AND my DDs Birthday! Did I mention that my youngest one turns 6 tomorrow?? Its her birthday, and my 1/2 birthday!

What's everyone else doing?

We're going to go buy some patio furniture to put on the belcony. I want to extend our living space out on the belcony. I got my annual Mother's day text message today..which means Mom call me..and she asked me what she got me this year. Gotta love 'um. I told she bought me a quilt rac, a curtain rod and a new ruler for my quilting since I broke it the other day. I'm hoping I can convince him to take me out tomorrow night.

Did Pogo take the questions with him or is this hunting camp a camp where he hunts for questions?

anyhooooo In one recipe she used dried apricots instead of raisins in her Oatmeal cookies..... Maybe Rhonda would enjoy that?????

Sorry, not an apricot fan either. You can always substitute the nasty raisins with chocolate chips in my cookies.

Does anybody know what today is? Why, it is "You don't have to ask a question in Just Questions" day! Do you know why? Because it is Rhonda's birthday!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! :thanks: I had a pretty laid back day today, but I think that was just what I needed.

And, thanks to everyone for including questions today despite Alex. ;)

You're spending your birthday at the podiatrist? Yikes, sorry to hear that, hope you do something fun this evening at least.

It was just a follow-up visit with the podiatrist, so he didn't hurt me or anything, and it only took about half an hour. I did wear sandals though so they could see my purple toenail, and I ended up with a new prescription for that. Have you ever heard of getting ear drops to apply to a toe injury? That's what he gave me! I didn't even know my toe could hear!

Has anyone (besides Pogo) missed me? I've been sick, and was without a computer here at work for a few days. Still not feeling the greatest... got a swelling on the left side of my neck that doesn't wanna go away. I'm on my third round of antibiotics in a month and a half's time... They can't figure out what's going on... all my blood work came back normal.... just not in too chatty of a mood...

I missed you and even sent you some :pixie: - it looks like it must not have made it there though! Hope you're feeling better soon!

So how old are you?

Old enough not to answer that question!

My DH said he would get me anything I wanted, as long as he didn't have to go find a card (he HATES shopping for cards). So...we are negotiating! :D

I don't celebrate my 1/2 birthday (once a year is quite enough, thank you very much!), but since she was born on my 1/2 its easy to remember. Since both of us almost didn't make it to that day, its kind of special.

Have you ever heard of getting ear drops to apply to a toe injury? That's what he gave me! I didn't even know my toe could hear!

Maybe I should try that for DD! :D

Oh pshaw, I've still got you beat by at least a decade, young'un. did your podiatrist maybe think you had 'toe-main'? :D

I surprised DW today and told her (after checking with DD) that we're going up for a grandbaby fix on Sunday for Mother's Day. Littlest Bubba has started walking and we both want to see that, as well as get our hugs from the rest of them.

Wonder if Pogo's bagged any yet? I think he's secretly on a possum hunt. Jym's freezer is getting low.

:woohoo::joy::yay: All right!!! I'm in!! I'm in!!
Greg, good luck on your interviews. And thanks for pushing that application through so quickly.

:pizza: and  delivery. It's not too late for pizza and popcorn, is it? It was a very long day with hardly any breaks. I just couldn't get away to drop any off earlier.

Now -- how do I get my DH to say things like that??? Oh yeah... because he's afraid of what my answer would be...

My SiL celebrates hers... she's a November baby, too. But we don't usually do ours... although I'm glad you reminded me -- I may have to "use" that information this weekend!! ;)

And I would have to say that yes, that kind-of circumstance makes the day all that more special... I try very hard to keep things like that from happening when I'm here! :) Not that you have much control sometimes, but to say the least, I'm glad you are both healthy and okay!

So - anybody still up & around?? Wonder what pogo got today... or didn't...

It's not bad! I'm on the labor/delivery floor, so I hesitate to say it's good... that's when the elevators overflow...

I'm with you on the whole hunting thing... I guess I can understand it if you're bringing food home to feed your family, but all those woodland creatures to me are Bambi and Thumper and well, you get the idea... I guess I'm lucky none of the men in my life have ever felt the need to provide, other than the occassional "hunt & kill" at the grocery store... I'd probably starve. ;) Hopefully I haven't offended any of our hunters around here... all you possum killers, you know who you are.... :D
Do you forgive me??

So - what's everybody doing tomorrow/today?

:rotfl: Then at least you'd have a great rug!! ;)

Funny story about having animal heads on the wall... my DH's grandpa had a deer head mounted and hung on a wall in their house, his name was (is - he's in our basement, waiting for us to get some masonry nails and find him a spot...) Herman. The wall he was on had a room behind it. Anyway... Julia loved this deer (which is why we have him) when she was a baby, and always had to be lifted up to pat him when we visited. Well, finally she got old enough to realize that not only was he 6 feet up in the air, but when she looked into the bedroom behind the wall where he was, the rest of him wasn't there!! This disturbed her for quite awhile, and the stories we made up to cover-up his demise were many... 'til she was finally old enough to understand. It was pretty cute, and pretty funny. The look on her face the first time she discovered that the rest of him didn't extend into that room....

So Jym, I know why I'm up all the time on here so late...
when do you sleep???

How's your night going?

I feel the same way. I came from a long line of hunters. My father and uncle use to bow hunt which made it a little harder then with a gun, but they also hunted with the guns. I hated the taste of wild game. I think deer are too pretty too kill, but I also understand the need to hunt deer. It does keep the population in check.(this comes from a person that use to live in farm country)

Today is another work day for me, and the last of our members sale. My highlight of the day will be choosing the winners of three $100 gift certificates. I love hearing how excited people get!!! Anyone want to come and work with me today?

I agree, I love animals too much to hunt them. I can't be a part of it. I can't even watch the national geographic shows where the lion kills the buffalo. Hey, I know it happens, circle of life and all that, but I can't sit there and watch it.

Yum, munchkins, I love them. Wish we had a better donut place here than Dunkin Donuts but it seems to be the only thing going.

Carol, what kind of store do you own/work at? I'm very interested in what people do for a living. I know Blythe is a L&D nurse, Tom is in insurance (ducky AFLAC guy), and Greg is getting a free trip to WDW to interview for a recruiter, but what about everyone else?

I'm a medical office manager for an internal medicine doctor. Kinda boring but it's what I'm qualified to do at this point unless I want to go back to school!

Have a great day everyone, I'm up early feeding kittens so I think I'll lay back down before I get up for good! :)

Morning all, Happy Belated Birthday Rhonda.

Good luck with the homework T & G..I feel your pain as I'm hip deep in that stuff to. I have about 8 hours worth for this weekend. (the good news is the largest chunk is writing a business plan & that I can do in my sleep thank you very much..everyone else in my "class" was totally confused by that which was funny)

So I'm gardening, reading, typing and hopefully sleeping this weekend. We do have to go out to get some garden stuff and the typical grocery lists etc..

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday. Is it a golf day for anyone? Ellen are you feeling better?

My Dad used to have a few of the mounted heads at his office (my mom wouldn't let him have them at home). I HATED them. I thought they were so creepy - and I didn't even understand what they really were (just the head). Trust me, we won't have ANY of those in this house.

Not much is going on around here, it's beautiful outside and that means it's slower than molasses in China. But that's okay with me, because I can surf the internet. Don't tell the boss okay?

Hope that your headache is better Ellen. I hate when that happens, and believe me I know the feeling.

Happy birthday, Chelsea!

Jym, the only thing missing from your list was talking on the cell phone! C'mon, get with the program! ;)

Headache is still here... it's definitely my sinuses. Ah, the start of spring!

We didn't head out to the burbs today for Mom's Day, but I did call and made plans for an early lunch (I'd prefer brunch but my stepdad wouldn't like that). But today we will hit the stores for cards, etc. And I plan on buying a fondue pot and we'll have a broth-based fondue for dinner tonight. :D Yummy and WW friendly as well. But before we get to that, I do have to figure out something for lunch. Oh, and since we'll be out tomorrow, I need to do laundry (and some work) today.

Have a nice day, everyone!

You guys really celebrate your half-birthdays? Cute! It's always nice to celebrate the life we have been given.
