Passport to travel from St. Thomas to St. John

Does anyone know if you need to carry your passport to travel to St. John for the day? When we went, it was before the new passport restrictions.

St. John is part of the USVI, so no passport needed.

THANK YOU!!! I had a friend insisting that they needed a passport and I knew they didn't. I like to be right, but didn't want to assume anything and look like an idiot!!
