While we have used the dining plan in the past, this will be our first time this year using the dining plan and having to pay for the gratuity. We just wondered, do you have to pay for the gratuity with cash? Can you simply charge it to your room with your key card? Thanks for any info!:mickey:

Yes, you can charge it to your room, as long as you have left a credit card imprint upon check-in. Watch your limit though. Last year, they only put $500 on our card, and we went over that, and then spent more than 20 minutes with the resort (from the Main St. Candy shop) getting them to raise the limit on our Key to the World Card. They had to process the original amount, and then put another $500 on.
It might be kind of a hassle to do this in a restaurant, while others are clearly waiting for you to clear out. It's probably safer just to keep a $20 on hand, just in case.

We experience the dining plan the first week in January. Yes you can put the balance of your bill, including tip, on your room key. We would get the bill as usual at the end of the meal. You add the tip just like any other restaurant and the CM will bring back 2 receipts for you to sign. One is for the amount covered under the dining plan and the second is for everything not covered (appetizers, wine, tip, etc.). Everthing on the second ticket is charged to whatever you want - room key, credit card or Disney Reward card.

At the end you wind up with 3 receipts at a TS restaurant. The original bill, the dining plan bill and the 'credit card' bill. I hope this makes sense.
