Last trip to WDW, we found ourselves in AK during a VERY crowded day. Shoulder-to-shoulder people. We escaped the park at 1:00 - not finding a place to eat - and wound up at Port Orleans. The resort was almost deserted with everyone in the parks. We had a very relaxing lunch with NO CROWD. Then, we rented a boat and enjoyed an afternoon touring the resorts on the river. We would love to do this again on our next trip, but I'd like to know if anyone else has suggestions of good places for a family of four to rent a boat and relax.

1) Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon are better than Sassagula River.
2) Try any marina at
. . . Poly
. . . GF
. . . CR
. . . WL
. . . FW

We make it a tradition to rent boats every time we're at WDW. Stop by any of the Magic Kingdom area resorts (including Fort Wilderness), and you can rent boats there. Between Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon, there's plenty of area to cover. We typically rent the pontoon boat and take it out for about an hour.
