Any inside info on how the parks will celebrate Mickey's 80th this year?

What would be the month that it would begin, if you know?

:birthday: :party2: Can't wait!

I could be way off on this and maybe even embarrassing myself. But my mom has always said that her birthday is the same as Mickey Mouse's, November 18th. Can anyone back me up on this?

Also, I'm pretty sure my sister's birthday is the same as Donald's. June 9th.

I don't know of any official celebrations, but Walt Disney Company celebrates Mickey's birthday on November 18th (that is the release date of Steamboat Willie) - even though his first appearance was actually May 15 in Plane Crazy. I have read on a few sites that Disney will probably steer clear of having an official celebration (75 was the last one apparently) until the mouse turns 100.

1) Plane Crazy was the first Mickey Mouse (silent) cartoon.
2) But, Steamboat Willie was the first talking cartoon.

Will Mickey be wearing a “birthday button” on his birthday? I wonder how many people would catch the connection. :mickey:

I would wear a button.

When I did it for Walt's birthday, I'd say maybe a total of 6 CM's new it, aside from the parade performers. And even less Guests knew it.

Maybe Mickey will be more noticeable....sadly, that's exactly what Roy didn't want to happen - for people to remember the Mouse instead of the Man.

This year is also China's Year Of The Rat. I know I know Mickey is a Mouse.

Buried in the recesses of Disney's website, I did see where they will be rolling out a new set of Disney Dollars celebrating Mickey's birthday . . . perhaps that's all we'll see?

May 15, 1928 is Mickey's real birthday. It's when Plane Crazy was first shown.

Steamboat Willie is actually Mickey's third film (other than Plane Crazy, Disney also created The Gallopin Gaucho starring the mouse that summer).

I know, I know, Steamboat Willie was innovative and added sound to film... And "officially," Disney considers its November 18th release as the mouse's b'day. But they're wrong! :humph:

Mickey's *real* birthday is May 15!!! I'll bet you that many-a-Disney exec isn't aware of that little tidbit! :mickey:

1) I don't know if they even care anymore.
2) However, ask them the date of their next bonus.

That's not a very magical attitude, is it? :(

I am sorry for you that you see it that way...:shake:
