Cast: Me – Jennifer, DH – Brian (CanadianWDWFan), DS9 – Harry and DS4 – Euan
I got up first, then Brian, then Euan, then Harry. After everyone was alert, I asked the kids where they wanted to have dinner; since we had another day’s dining added to our package. They chose Chef Mickey’s for dinner. So, I called dining, and asked for a dinnertime reservation at Chef Mickey’s. The CM chuckled along with me for a minute, then said “Hey! I have a 5:40 here.” Sold! With that arranged, we grabbed some snacks from our stash, and were out the door. We took the kids around to see the blue hat décor on the building, and the Sorcerer Mouse himself by the pool, then I wanted to stop off at the shop. It was pretty darned cold – even for my thick Canadian blood and I needed a sweater! We were on our way in a short time, parked our car, and hopped on the waiting tram, and then went up the ramp to the monorail. We don’t take the ferry (the boys can’t stand it), but I overheard a CM telling another guest that the winds were too strong to operate it at that time. Harry, the WDW veteran he is ventured up the ramp ahead of us and asked the CM if we could ride with the pilot. The CM directed us along to a little corral at the front of the train, where Harry again asked if we could ride with the pilot. Sure enough, we were successful (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338187452/in/set-72157604134045401/)! It was a beautiful and bright morning, and the pilot was a really nice young lady who gave us our souvenir licenses and we pulled into the station, just as the opening ceremonies were drawing to a close.
The first order of business was to find an ice-cream cart to get the kids some :bar: :bar: …. Unfortunately, since it was so cool and only 9 am, this was easier said than done. Harry wanted to ride Space Mountain first, and then Buzz … so that’s what we did. When we got of Space, Euan kept pulling his fist down and saying “Yes! That was fun! Yes!”. Unfortunately, I think that I may have to renounce my “Galactic Hero” status for Buzz. My scores throughout our holiday were not very heroic to say the least. Harry and Brian rode the Astro Orbiter, whilst Euey and I took a tour on the good old TTA. Unfortunately, I can not recall the order in which we did everything, but I do know that we eventually made it over to Winnie the Pooh (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2337358477/in/set-72157604134045401/), and when we disembarked from it, we received Dream blue and silver ears! What a nice surprise! We saw Philharmagic, floated with the dolls, rode the HM then headed to the shooting gallery where we finally encountered an ice-cream cart that was open and selling :bar: . What a relief! I don’t know how much more pleading I could handle! We popped over to BTMRR and got some fast passes, then rode the empty Splash Mountain. I love Splash, and it was worth Brian getting soaked just to ride through it again! We went to get some lunch at Columbia Harbor House, but they have really limited the kid’s menu, and we had to go elsewhere. So, after some burgers at Pecos Bills, we hung out for Woody’s Cowboy party. It was fun! Then back to ride BTMRR, which I decided to ride against my poor knees wishes. When we exited, Harry asked if we could go over to Tom Sawyer’s Island …. You know, in all the years and all the trips I’ve ever made to the World, I have never gone over….. so we did … and it was fun! The guys loved the barrel bridge and the fort (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338194956/in/set-72157604134045401/) and we spent quite a while over there. We hit Pirates with very little wait and then Aladdin.
We left MK at about 5:15 to get over to the Contemporary in time for our dinner reservation. We were seated (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2337377501/in/set-72157604134045401/) right on time, and the guys proceeded to come around and pay their respects. We saw Pluto (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338205422/in/set-72157604134045401/), Minnie (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338203516/in/set-72157604134045401/), Goofy (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338208698/in/set-72157604134045401/), Donald (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338201770/in/set-72157604134045401/) and Mickey (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10566431@N04/2338210994/in/set-72157604134045401/) – and they prepared a really nice spread for us too! Harry and I really enjoyed the salmon, and Brian quite liked the Prime Rib. Euan liked the rice and buns and ice cream. We left at about 7, and took the monorail back around to get our car. It was extremely frigid by this time, so we decided to just go back to the hotel. It was a really great day. Low crowds, lots of sunshine and fun with my family. It doesn’t’ get much better than that.
