I finally sorted through all my photos and the pictures I took on the safari came out amazing. I am so pleased with them given how difficult it was to get around all the other arms reaching to take pictures, reacting to the bumps in the road and then to focus my camera.

I just have to share... (http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8RbtmTRu1bWs)

Wow! Your pictures are wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

I hope that we get to see as many animals when we go in a few weeks. :fingers: We'll be doing the safari first thing in the morning!

You got some fantastic shots! And I know that can be a challenge on the safari. Great work.

You certainly got some great photos. I find it so hard to get good pictures on the safari, what with the speed of the drivers, the bumps and as you mentioned all of the other peoples heads and arms. However you managed to get a few terrific shots. What kind of camera were you using?

How many times did you do this ride to get these? Did the truck stop often? I usually don't even try for photos on this ride. Nice job.

This was all one ride and it seemed like the driver never stopped at all. I was actually kind of annoyed by that... it was like, look there's a lion....zoom.

I was in the back row of the truck using a Canon Rebel XT with a 70-300 mm lens.

I used auto focus and got a bunch of blurry pics too, but the ones that worked, worked really well.

We havebeen lucky with pics a few times if you get a outside seat on the truck or are really lucky and get a seat in the front where they have they big space where they usually put people with wheel chairs and no one is there which happened to us this Nov you can shoot both sides pretty well we only brought our older digital 3mp small zoom but happen to have good timing and grabbed some great shots best i could say is go early they seem more active and hope for a good seat the rest is timing don't look at shots just keep shooting then check them later it can be done it's tricky depending on seating and driver but do able

These are really terrific. I don't have this many good pictures after many times on this ride.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for answering the camera question. That is a nice camera. Out of my price category, but nice none-the-less. Depending on how my pictures turn out in April will determine if I need a new camera for November.

You got some REALLY great pics... its looks maybe like you got a pic of kayla ... did u see tom the baby ... i wonder how big he is ... i havent seen him since sept.

the rule for drivers is to go :
3 to 4 in the ituri forest and Safi River
5 to 6 in the Savanahs... except for when animals are closer to the road they are to slow down
animals in the road and a broken truck are the only reason drivers stop ... because there are on a full busy day 41 trucks on the safari path at any given time

You have some amazing photos. I especially like the photo of the bird in the tree, and the elephants, and, well, just about every one.

Thanks for sharing.

Here we go again...

Loved the zebra and lion looking at you. The elephants and birds are great too. You got one of the lion walking through the brush, he is in focus but nothing else is... pretty cool.
I never get that many good pictures on the safari...

We asked if we could sit in the back and had to wait for one extra truck. Whenever we missed a shot we were passing, we could just turn towards the back and keep shooting. Worked great!
