Disney Dollars can be used anywhere on Disney property that takes cash.

Speaking of those refillable mugs...Can I bring mine back on another trip if I purchased it last year? Or do I have to buy a new one when I'm there?

There is some debate about that. According to the fine print on your mug you can not. However, I have had a cast member at POP tell me that you could. Personnally, I buy a new one every year anyway, because I use them all the time at home for hot beverages.

Technically, you're supposed to purchase a new one each trip. However, I was down in May '07 and Sept '07 and saw numerous "old" types. Never saw them stop anyone from using them. A co-worker has one shaped like the dome at Epcot (from years ago) and she drags it everywhere!

Where the mugs are sold, there is a big sign that says they are good only during the length of your current stay.

On the mugs sold over the past maybe 5 years or so, the same message is printed in not-so-fine print.

Are you going to get arrested or escorted off the property? Of course not. But are you allowed to do it? Of course not!

Getting away with something and being allowed to do something are two very different things. The CM at Pop that someone quoted ... that person was not stating Disney policy. It's kind of like a movie theater usher who lets people in through the fire exit.

No one will stop you from re-using your old mugs. But if following rules and setting a good example for your kids means anything to you, you'll leave the old mugs at home.

We were told that you just have to purchase a new bar code thing if you use an old mug. We have a friend that was going to give us theirs to use if we stayed on property

Bottom line. If you return to Disney for a differnt trip, you must buy a new refillable mug for the duration of your stay.

Discussion on going around Disney's rules is not permitted.

The original poster asked a question which has now been answered. Unless folks have additional information on the original topic, please cease discussing reusing previously purchased mugs.

This will be our first time getting the mugs. I figure with two kids 11 and 13 we should get the mugs at our resort. Since we are going to be there for nine days, it will be well worth the investment. Then again, when we go back next Christmas, I will purchase them again. I like the idea of having new mugs anyways.

We enjoy getting a new mug each time.
But they still are selling the year of a million dream mug from what I hear.

We have 6 POP mugs from our previous trip but will be absolutely leaving them home and purchasing new ones. I'm glad I can use the Disney dollars my sister gave me for Christmas to purchase the new ones :mickey:. Thanks for the answer.

I love using disney dollar. If you are on a buget or just want to watch your spending. It is easy to swipe your room key card and forget what your buying. My kids always want mugs when we go but since there 3 and 6 it just doesn't pay. So we had them earn bucks for the trip so they could get what they wanted. When I went to get my husband and my mug they each wanted there own mug this year. Any believe it or not they used it. :mickey:
