We've been talking about vacationing in WDW around Christmas of 2008. We've been mid July and the crowds were heavy then with MK closing due to crowds. This would be our 5th trip but, 1st during a holiday. Are we making a wrong choice? We would love to see the decor etc... Also, Christmas day what does everyone do?

As you said, MK will end up closing by 10 am because it will be full to capacity...keep that in mind and avoid it on the holiday (go on the 23rd or 26th)...we always go during Christmas because it is so beautiful just make a game plan and stick to it and you will be fine...remember ADRs are a must.

This is one of the busiest times of the year in Disney World. Parks can close to additional guests as they may reach capacity.

I've only been once for the actual holiday and that was a number of years ago now. We found the Magic Kingdom to be insanely crowded. In fact, we were squished so tight during the showing of the parade that we literally could not move. We escaped the park as soon as the parade ended and we were able to shuffle our way out! We found Epcot to be a better choice on Christmas day - crowded but manageable.

Folks do whatever the do at any other time of the year - they visit the parks or hang out at their resorts.

If at all possible, I'd suggest going earlier in the month. You'll still get all the holiday decorations and festivities but the crowds will be lower than they will be for the holiday itself.
