We just got home on Dec 3. We had a wonderful week except we accidentally left our new camera with 5 days of Disney family photos on it:sob: on the Monorail. Did anyone happen to turn it in? We have been calling lost and found but still no luck. Thanks

Sorry I can't help you out about our situation but. My sister-in-law gave us a good suggestion about digital cameras. Take a picture of your name, address and cell number for your first picture of each memory card. That way if someone finds it and is honest enough and turns it into lost and found you can identify it or someone could mail it back to you or phone you with the info you provided on your memory card!

I left my camera this summer on the rapids ride at AK and went back within 1/2 hour. I spent a lot of time talking to CM about it and checking back in at the ride and guest relations all day. We even waited until the last pick up sweep was made through the park (they have a person who does this all day long) of the lost items and brought back to guest relations. Never had any luck. We even called Lost and Found for WDW for the next 7 days and they never found it. We were bummed as it had 5 days of pictures and 1st airplane ride pictures of my kids.

I feel your pain!

But I did learn that WDW has a great lost and found procedure IF someone turns it in. I saw a little girl reunited with her autograph book! She didn't even have her name in it, but remembered who the first few characters were that signed it. If someone turns it in....you will get it back.

Good Luck!!

Sorry, I can't help you with your camera but keep trying lost and found. :pixie: that it will be found and returned to you! I put a mailing address label with my name and cell phone number on mine just in case.

Maybe a CM can check property control. Disney sells unclaimed items out back for next to nothing!

If it was a nice camera, chances are it's gone however.

I can totally relate to a missing camera. This past July I accidentally left my camera on a table in the Liberty Tree Tavern. By the time I realized it, the restaurant was closed. I went to City Hall and had it put in the Lost & Found system & went back to the restaurant the next day. The CM, Adam, was extremely helpful and remembered seeing it and knows it was put with items to go to Lost & Found. However, it never turned up at Lost & Found! I was so disappointed because we had 10 days worth of pictures. The worst part was knowing that someone working with Disney did not take it to where I could claim it.

Thats rotten! Iam just sickened about the whole thing. There was a family in the same car as us that didn't get off when we did. They had to have seen it. They were a Mom, Dad and two very small kids. I just can't believe they would have taken it. Who knows. But you all have given me some great ideas for next time, Thanks. I think I will carve my name all over the next camera and maybe paint it bright PINK! This camera was a 3 week old $500 digital. I'm sure it's long gone. I just hope they enjoyed our pictures before deleting them.

I put a clear address label on the bottom of my camera in case I ever leave it behind somewhere.

Yes, I have thought twice about turning stuff into Guest Relations, I just don't know if I trust them anymore to do the right thing.

Blonde,
Sorry for the loss. Don't give up hope as we've had tremendously positive experiences with lost & found at WDW. DW once left her sunglasses (a $300 pair!!!!) on a ride. We reported it at MGM where she misplaced them. About 2 weeks later, they did show up. I hope you have a similar experience! I really hope that your camera does show up! :mickey: Keep us informed if your luck changes.

However, it never turned up at Lost & Found! I was so disappointed because we had 10 days worth of pictures. The worst part was knowing that someone working with Disney did not take it to where I could claim it.
Now this is disturbing... :(

I don't know how someone could keep something that they know does not belong to them and get ANY enjoyment from it:(
I hope it turns up :pixie::pixie::pixie:

I think it's St. Anthony who is the Patron Saint of lost items. Say a little prayer to him and maybe it will turn up. I'm sure he'll listen no matter what your religious affiliation is.
I hope you get your camera back with all the pictures intact.

We had something similar happen my son's first trip to WDW. he was 15 months and on the last day,we went back to MK before leaving for home, took all kinds of great pictures, hopped in the rental car and stopped for lunch. I stuck the camera under my seat and we turned the car in. About 1/2 way back to Michigan I remembered and stopped at the rental car place at Metro. they called Orlando but gee nobody remembered finding a camera when they cleaned the car. So either the employee got a great camera or the next rentee did.
To top it off Meijers lost 6rolls of film, so I ended up with hardly any pictures :(:(

And they thought they were doing us a huge favor by offering us 6 new rolls of film. Like that could replaces the pictures of our son's first visit with Mickey. I never took pictures there again! :(

I quit using "send-out" services after Walgreens lost some of our film from our trip in 2000. I would pay extra for 1-hr. service, just to keep my film in store.

After our camera was taken I bought 3 disposables at WDW gift shop prices for a total of $46.00:jaw: I took them to Walgreens They came out kinda stinky, I knew they would, but I hoped for the best, anyway the woman said that if there are any that we really think are bad just bring them back and they would refund the picture price. I thought that was pretty cool!

Sorry that you all feel that Disney CM's can't be trusted with lost and found. But believe me when we find items like cameras phones and such they are turned in right away to lost and found. Lost and found is kept for 60 days at lost and found at the kennels. So use this # to contact lost and found Lost and Found Station at the TTC 407-824-4245
Just remember to describe the item in question and they'll check the items there. It will take time to check to make certain they have found your item. Don't forget to give them your contact information to get back to you.

I learned this the hard way as well. I lost a memory card (left my camera bag unzipped) for my camera a couple years ago at DLR. It was brand new and I hadn't marked it with my phone number yet. I lost about 500 pics. :(

I now have my cell number on my camera, as well as on every memory card. There is a note in my camera bag that if someone finds it to please return the memory cards at least and keep the camera if they must. It can be replaced, but the pictures can't.

Luckily, I have been much more careful and have not had to deal with it again.

1) There are hundreds of items turned in every day to Lost and Found.
2) But, that is a fraction of items lost.
3) Let's face it, people are human - whether guest or CM.
. . . they forget them at an eatery
. . . they forget them at a ride
. . . they forget them on a monorail or boat
. . . items get dumped into the trash
. . . items are kept when found by others
. . . items are pocketed before getting to Lost and Found
4) Untraceable items (cash, cameras, etc) easily remain missing.

5) Tie cameras to your belt/backpack/fannypack with a 4-ft line
6) Without a cord, you can easily forget to put them back.

NOTE: With the above being said, you would be surprised at the number of expensive items that do gt turned into Lost and Found on a daily basis. The kindness and thoughtfulness of guests and CM's never fails to amaze me.

I can't say I mistrust the CMs in general but it's true that people are people good and bad, even at WDW. I'd still like to believe that there are more good than bad out there. Thats a good idea about the cord! I have some of those springy kinds form the casinos that your players card hooks on to. That woud work!:D
Rusty, I see you are a charter member of the R+R Hall of Fame. I live about 30 minutes from there and I have never been there!
