Could it be ADWD?

Huh?

Bethany, get back to your paper. I hate to ask, but any chance you can get an incomplete in one of your classes?

I finished the paper that was due tonight at midnight....at around 9:00 no less! AND I'm working on lesson plans for the WHOLE week. AND I'm partially done with 2 other papers for school.

And as for the incomplete...WHY would I want to prolong this agony? I'm just trying to get these crazy things done at this point and be over with it. I'm just praying I get a high enough grade. I'm kissing my 4.0 goodbye (I held it for 15 credits of grad school only to blow it this term :mad:)

Wow!! Pretty impressive!! Could you & Ben come up here and teach us about High Tea?? My girls and I would LOVE it!! Esp. the scones and clotted cream... yummmmm!! I'm thinking of making some for the holidays...

So - do you still have a high rise across the street??

How's everyone's night going? Anyone have any good snacks??

My mom gave me a recipe for scones that is fairly easy. Only problem is that it is probably hanging out with Ellen's Hanukkah gifts and the socks that disappear from the dryer.

Yes, there still is the building across the street. The fire was on or around the 7th floor. It looked pretty intense; I could see the firefighters inside the apartments with flashlights looking around. I hope everyone got out okay. It seemed to be contained to one unit on this side of the building, but I don't know what the other side looked like...there were firefighters on the roof (above the 20th floor). They are all gone now, but they were there for a while after the fire appeared to be out, and the roads were closed too. The cops were yelling at people on the streets. Busy night out there.

And no, no good snacks tonight. Except for the spice cake which I FINALLY got frosting for!

Anybody going to be around later??

Sorry, no. Must. get. sleep.

Aw shucks......... you are just saying that because you are hoping we'll give you money for WDW.

Yes she did.... and I had to work today, preparing for tomorrow's big presentation. I'm speaking in front of about 700 people tomorrow. It could mean a lot of money if I do a good job. :D

About two pages ago I asked everyone to PM me with their snail mail address's and Caroleh was the only one to respond.

Do a really good job tomorrow, Big Bro, I need money for WDW!!!! :D I think my Sister Jenn will take some too!!!

Is that how you get everyone's attention? Write in really big letters? I asked if anyone wanted to see my photopass photos to PM their email address and got nothing and also if anyone wanted me to send them a Christmas card to PM their snail mail addy. I love making my cards and I want to make more then just my staff's this year.

Anybody going to be around later??

I should be. I'm feeling better tonight, but since I slept most of the day, I'm wide awake. Luckily, I have tomorrow off.

Huh?
Oops, left out a letter. Meant to say AWDWD (A condition in which one is easily distracted by thoughts of a certain theme park.)

Am I glad I got this edited before Rhonda caught my lack of a question? But of course.

But, if I send out my snail mail address, you might actually send me a card, and then I'd need to reciprocate, and last year I didn't send out a single card, and I'm not sure if I'm going to this year or not, so I'd feel really bad then (I felt bad enough last year for not reciprocating the ones I got then). Do you understand?

About two pages ago I asked everyone to PM me with their snail mail address's and Caroleh was the only one to respond.

Patti and I are making a list, checking it twice, and most of you are in trouble ! :D

If we are in trouble, why do you want our address? Are you going to hunt us down? Or report us to Santa?

Next December, without Mickey (Mexico, with Kathie Lee Gifford) and with super soccer goalie girl (unless you're offering to keep her for me!)
The light bulb just went on. :D

Anybody going to be around later??
Yep, for a little while - this is the first time I have had to myself all day!!

:ditto:

Good luck tomorrow Pogo! I'd say "knock 'em dead", but I suppose thats not a good statement to make if you want to sell insurance....

I understand!!! But I don't want one in return!! I just like making them and giving them out!!! Since my DD moved out and either spends Christmas with her father or her boyfriend's family, I don't get much of a Christmas, so it's just something I like to do. Oh, just in case your wondering, my DD doesn't come up here for Christmas
is because she:

a.) doesn't have the money, and we'd have to pay for the trip
b.) doesn't get enough time off work to come up here
c.) would be alone during the day, since Gilles and I don't get time off work.
Because we can't get the time off work is why we don't go see her. So it's usally just the 2 of us and there's not a whole lot of celebrating. Actually Gilles got his Christmas present at WDW and I know what he wants to get me, which he'll get before Christmas and give to me.

Since it's morning already, do you think I should go to bed?

Good morning, all! I can't believe I'm the first one here today! Fresh coffee is on the sideboard along with some leftover (but still good) scones from yesterday!

Our Alex is about to go into surgery so here's a bunch of caffeine-charged (but steady hands) :pixie: for him, Maria and his medical team.

Well, Mikki can correct me if I'm wrong but last night I read a book called Tea & Etiquette: Taking Tea for Business and Pleasure (AKA, yes I have no life ). Apparently, it's more proper to call it "afternoon tea" or "low tea."

Next December, without Mickey (Mexico, with Kathie Lee Gifford) and with super soccer goalie girl (unless you're offering to keep her for me!)
Absolutely! Olivia definitely seems like my kind of kid!

Why don't Jenn and Di come around on the weekends? To me, if you're only willing to neglect your family 5 days a week instead of 7, that seems like lack of commitment! ;)
:rotfl:

Good luck, Pogo! Hope it goes well for you today.

Have a good day, all!

P.S. Did anyone else see the news item about the kid hitting the "don't hit the button" button? Sounds like Ken, Pogo and Little Al were in Phillie this weekend.

Good luck to Alex. Of course some for Pogo as well.

We had a major ice issue here last night the roads are awful..beyond awful actually. I had to wear flats into the office. School buses were not running either. And since we had no snow yet there's no salt/sand or anything on the roads. I'd so much rather have snow.

Any coffee yet? Has everyone gotten in the holiday mood?

ElenitaB

Good morning! Anyone hear from Maria? I hope all went well with little al this morning!

I'm going to get my hair cut at noon...kinda nervous...I plan on getting it cut pretty short! :eyes:

Does anyone else have a dorky dad like mine? When he would go to get his hair cut he'd always say, "time to get my ears lowered" .
:shake: Yeah, I pretty much thought it was just mine.

I'm still waiting to hear from Maria. She promised she'd call and I'm hoping that it's just slipped her mind.

Good luck with the haircut. Post a pic so we can ooh and aah.

My dad used to say the exact same thing! So do you want to add me (and Ken's DDs) to the Dorky Dad Club?

Nat, is Outlook working any better now? Hope your Help Desk was able to help.

Where's Jenn? Did she get iced in? What about Di and Deb? Where's Jasper and Scott? Carol, did you get that ice too?

Hi gang, I'm here. And yes, we did get ice. Schools are closed around here. Driving isn't TOO bad, the salt trucks have done a pretty good job considering. But walking is impossible. More like slide your way to where you need to go.

Did everybody have a good weekend?

Hope all are feeling well.
'Tis the season for joy and holidays, but also for sickness and sniffles, unfortunately.

Nope not just yours. My dad used to say and :secret: shhh...Gilles says it!!!

I'm here, Ellen. I don't think we got any ice. I haven't left the apartment, I'm still not feeling 100%. I'm really light-headed (be quiet, Ken and Pogo..:D), so Gilles told me to stay put. I'm not sure if I'm coming down with a cold, or with all the food we had on the DDP it's throwing me off now I'm back to my regular easting habits. (or as Gilles would say, "Lack of eating.)

I'm making Disney Christmas cards today or should I saying, trying to make!!! There's some cool ideas in my head!!!!

Diane, did you get to see the picture of Stitch and me?

Where's Jenn? I haven't even seen Brian on the boards today. I hope everything is okay with them.

We're having yo-yo weather here. Back to 70s for most of the week, but then 50s over the weekend. The way it's going, we'll probably have snow for Christmas.

Grandbabies are due in some time today. They ahve walk-on parts in the show and DD1 wants them here to rehearse a few times before opening. This is heck week for the rest of the cast--rehearsal every night until who knows when?

Sometimes I wish I wasn't so crafty, but then I'm not sure what I'd do. I've been doing crafts for most of my life. I'd say it must because Walt Disney's birthday is the day after me, it must be in the air, but yours is the day after..so it has to be something else!!!

Wow, to much to catch up on.. anyone give me a reader's digest version? Did I miss anything important? My weekend was swamped with making Buckeyes and visiting my nieces and my nephew! Then church stuff yesterday. Today been busy trying to clear my desk at work cause I'm taking tomorrow off to get things together for our church Christmas banquet. I'm handling entertainment and the game. Cookie Cook Off... anyone interested in judging?

My email doesn't work. (Still) bad for bankers that what.

Carol is back but feeling icky, so is working on Christmas cards.

Ken has incoming grandbabies and a show to do.

Christine is getting her haircut.

Ellen is as busy as three people and has lost gifts somewhere in her house.

Dan & Blythe are still getting over post B-Day issues.

Jasper is awol along with Jenn & Rhonda this am but Rhonda did need sidedishes somewhere else.

No one has heard about Alex yet. (perhaps Maria's phone isn't allowed to be used there?)

Scott zooped in to say Hi. Pogo is working on a big presentation. Deb is getting over feeling iffy. The building accross from Bronxtigger was on fire (but everyone is fine) Tink & Goofy is posting away in computer free for all.

I'm so sorry to anyone I've missed!!

Well, no grands here yet. No DW either. I think she's been working all day on costumes (we call the costume shop the 'sweatshop'). I still am not set up for posting pictures, or I'd do so when we get some of the play. There's supposed to be a big writeup in our local paper on Wednesday.

Hope all is going well with Alex. Hope Pogo made a mil or two.

I was, but last night and today put a bit of a damper on it. :( (See my post in the WC....) Added to that, Emma came down with pink eye and was sent home from school today... Dan was a good daddy/DH and went and got her so I could sleep... I hadn't gotten to sleep until about 10:30 b/c of the whole thing w/ our bank, and I was wiped. So now, E can't go to school tomorrow and I was supposed to go Christmas shopping with a close friend at the outlet shops... and this thing with our bank account has got me not wanting to buy anything!! ( :faint: :ill: ) So - we'll see what happens in the morning... I'll probably just take E with me, and enjoy spending a day with a friend. Sigh... I'm trying really hard to keep things in perspective, and not long after I got done fussing about everything this morning, I remembered Alex was going in for surgery, and that sure helped... I hope he's out and doing okay by now!!

Thanks for the condensed update! It sure helped me. Did it help anyone else also?

About that fire....in the newspaper (buried on like page 5....whatever) it said that 26 people were injured in that fire, three of them seriously enough to take to the hospital. Some of the injured were firefighters. They think it started with Christmas decorations. Everybody but the one family/apartment where the fire started is back home now.

Blythe, sounds like you're going through the ringer right now! That bank stuff is infuriating! My debit card number got stolen once, and charges were made all over the place! The red tape and hoops you have to jump through are a nightmare!

Look on the bright side Blythe - most people don't catch these things until MAJOR damage has been done! You caught it immediately, and put a stop to it. So...could have been MUCH worse!

Alex doesn't need anymore of a funny bone --he's funny enough!

Pogo, do we all have WDW in our future, paid for by the duck??

Jenn, one of my former students with autism came up to me tonight and told me how he was doing. He has graduated from high school and is working now with a retailer in town. I'm so proud of him. He was watching his little sister in her Christmas play.

Yes guys I just came back from our school's annual Christmas play. It was such a hoot!:D

You sure do ! But only if WDW accepts duck bucks $$ ! :D
You might want to talk to Donald about that!

Sorry, not watching Mary Poppins... Jon & Kate + 8 are at WDW tonight! So who wants to take sextuplets and twins to WDW? Hey, Keeeeeen and Pogooooooo! (Let me tell, there's nothing like watching someone else's kids having a meltdown to make you feel better about the meltdowns your progeny have had there. ;) )

Seriously! She drives me crazy!

I missed that episode last night. Sad. At least I know they'll be reruns of it at some point. It seems like they always have "marathons" of Kate+8 reruns.

Why do television stations think we want to see the same shows over and over and over again?

I've been at it since 3:00 AM with an enrollment for the night shift at a manufacturing plant in the city. I've got to go back for some day shift people that were not there last week. I think I'll catch a nap.

The ice cream bit was hilarious. And I have to tell ya I thought they did ok considering the sheer volume of toddlers your talking about. (And I loved how they were gaga for the strollers)

.Kate seems so mean to Jon sometimes...and she's such a control freak! I feel sorry for him sometimes. I hear you, but the 30th birthday party & trip was cool, and I suspect a great deal of that is how lack of sleep, stress and all has to do with it. I do admire how many things they seem to do as a family with them. (trips playing in the yard etc as the kids have gotten older). I'd still be on the couch. (Mind you I may never have gotten up once someone told me I was having 6 kids!)

Carol have I told you yet I love your siggie? DH has that as one of his ringtones.

Great news about Alex! :whew: You don't think they gave him a BIONIC funny bone, do you?My friends used to call my Mom the Bionic woman because of all her joint replacements..... I'm so glad that Alex is doing well... :pixie: for continued recovery!

:DI'm sorry! I think the pink eye started with me about a month ago, went to my Grandson Gage, then to Jenn's Euan, now to Blythe's Emma! Sorry guys! I guess I misunderstood how computers transmitted viruses, huh?:thedolls:...Ohhh I didn't understand either! Sorry about Emma's eye, Blythe. It was really awful for Euey for a few days...I hope she recovers quickly!

Jenn, one of my former students with autism came up to me tonight and told me how he was doing. He has graduated from high school and is working now with a retailer in town. I'm so proud of him. He was watching his little sister in her Christmas play. It's all about understanding and encouragement isn't it, Deb! Congratulations on your hand in his success!

Oh man, you watch that too? I've seen it a couple of times...Kate seems so mean to Jon sometimes...and she's such a control freak! I feel sorry for him sometimes.I can't watch that show. She's just awful to her husband....but I can't say I blame her either.... Just too much for me.... It does make me feel like I have a calm and peaceful little home, however.....

So, we are all under the weather. Colds and everything that goes with them for Euan, Harry and I.... but I came into work today to get some rest :whew: Happy Tuesday everyone!

Good morning! Well, as of 1pm today, John and I have been married 14 years! Wouldn't you know, today is the ONE day that the finance firm that I do contract bookkeeping for wants me to come in and reconcile books! But I think John and I will try to get together for lunch.

I missed that episode last night. Sad. At least I know they'll be reruns of it at some point. It seems like they always have "marathons" of Kate+8 reruns.

They played it again late last night, so I watched it. (and they played Mary Poppins back to back, too). The Jon & Kate + 8 was funny. When the producer asked Kate if she thought she overreacted to the ice cream and she said "NO" John and I died laughing!

I thought the 3 year olds did better behavior-wise than the big girls!

Well, I'm off to get ready for work. I have to tell you, I LOVE my new haircut! Not necessarily how it looks on me, but just how EASY it is to fix! Last night I washed and dried it, ran pomade through it with my fingers and Vi-ola (that's southern for voilą) it's done! So this morning, I got some more pomade, ran that through, and it looks just fine!

Di here goes.

Thank you for the update! Just how long has it been since I posted here? Feels like ages!

So glad to hear Alex is up to cracking jokes after his surgery. Here's :pixie: for continued improvements.

Some one in the village had their house broken into and it was identity documents that were taken. I think they will be worried that they will be having problems like Blythes shortly! Hope you get yours all sorted Blythe.

It's all getting busy in the run up to Christmas here. Hope everyone is doing well over there!

Hi Mikki & Jenn.

Glad to hear Alex is doing pretty well all things considered.

Jenn you'll find this funny. When my Mom had her hip done she was trying to explain that it was "bionic" to my son. (he was about 9 at the time) He heard Bioncle (a type of lego's for those of you without boys). He was distraught becuse the Bioncle lego is all spindly and fragile and he thought his grandmama would break allt the time! It was pretty funny. Has anyone watched the new bionic women show?

And more importantly who has the coffee?

Nah...I think Di might still be playing receptionist. Christine is off celebrating her anniversary. Pogo's anticpating 700 appts, Scott's been slammed for months, Ken's still busy doing plays, grandbabies vists and reno's. And Rhonda's a nightish owl along with Blythe.
Carol's just back to work too.
Jared's too busy seeing movies as well. Perhaps we all just need more cookies? Anyone have a biscotti?

And no William didn't find the spare parts appealing as he didn't think it was easy for the Dr.'s to get them in. That was his big problem with it...too many little parts. I wonder what my nephews will think when she goes for her other one in a year or so.

If I recall last year by Christmas at one point it was just Alex & his vacum cleaner & I!

Hi all! Sorry to be AWOL last week but I do have a good excuse. My father-in-law passed away last Wednesday so we have been dealing with that. Unfortunately the local funeral homes were all booked up so even though he passed on Wednesday it was Sunday before we could have the viewing and Monday for the funeral. Talk about a LONG week!

So how is everyone doing? I haven't had the chance to go back and try to catch up so if I seem more out in left field than normal please bear with me!

Of course, this week is going to be crazy around here as well. I have to get everything in order so that I can have back surgery next Monday. You just have to love dealing with insurance. I personally called a month ago to pre-certify the surgery and then the doctor's office called them as well. Now this morning I received a call because the insurance folks were getting the claims for the pre-op visits and claim they don't know anything about the surgery!! I spent almost 15 years in Human Resources and the thing that caused me to lose more sleep than anything was incompetent insurance providers!

Anyway, I will visit as I can this week but my time will be limited.

My brother comes from England on Friday -- I haven't seen him for about 3 years I think! I think he gets all nostalgic about Canadian Christmas's, and then he gets here and is fed up with it all in about 2 days!

What do elves use to make a sandwich?

How's your DW holding up?

Keep us posted on the back surgery. We've all been helping to nurse Alex back to good health (well, we've at least been keeping up his virtual cookie supply).

DW is doing as well as can be expected. Fortunately he was with us for 87 years and was able to lead a full-normal life up until they put him in the hospital a week ago Friday. He spent more time in the hospital from Friday until he passed away on Wednesday than he had in the entire 87 years prior to that! We should all be so lucky!!

What is getting DW down is just the accumulation of everything at one time. Last week was her father, next week is my surgery, all along her office has been crazy, and her costume store is just gonzo with Church Pageants, School Plays, Santa Clauses, etc. She is normally one who loves life to be hectic but I think even she is reaching overload! Anyone want to take her to WDW with her in January to replace the trip we had to cancel? Believe me, by the first week of January she will be begging for a break!

By the way, what is Alex's illness? And Alex, if you are online, here is wishing you the best!! :pixie:

Alex had back surgery as well Jasper.

I'm so sorry for you & your wife's loss. I hope the stress of the holidays, her loss and your upcoming surgery is all as much as she can handle and not more.

I think you asked about Cdn/English diff but there are some additional differences within Canada as well. As a partial Quebecois (born to a 50% French Canadian) we have some things that aren't part of say the typical Christmas in Ontario or BC perhaps.

First of all the buche de Noel (often called a yule log dessert) is a big part of it (not so much mincemeat that you might find in ontario perhaps) and Tourtiere is also a must have. (with chili sauce or mustard please not ketchup). Turkey is still typical however. And the whole midnight mass thing is pretty much common place. (Santa however is normally Santa and not Pere Noel but your mileage may vary on that).

One of the cool things about Canada is the variety you'll see across our country.
I hope your family is going to ok soon.

Anyone had an update on Alex by the way?

Okay, just heard from Maria... Alex is out of surgery and in recovery, and apparently cracking jokes and smiling. At least they didn't touch his funny bone!

Phew!! Glad to hear he's doing just fine so far... hopefully, today's more of the same!!

Thanks for the pixie dust -- nothing's resolved yet, as the charges are still in "pending" status - but at least nothing's worse, and we ought to have some answers in the next day or so.

I'm sorry! I think the pink eye started with me about a month ago, went to my Grandson Gage, then to Jenn's Euan, now to Blythe's Emma! Sorry guys! I guess I misunderstood how computers transmitted viruses, huh?

Hey, Northern buds! Yeah YOU ! Cold you send me some snow?
You're forgiven... and if Emma could, she'd hug you for sending it, as she got to spend the day with me today and she loved it!! We went shopping with a close friend of ours and she got all the adult attention for herself, as well as lunch out!! So, she's doing just fine... we caught it early, and besides blurry vision when I put the meds in, she's not complaining!

Sending some snow you're way as we speak... :fan:

Sorry.... I was out Christmas shopping! But, I'm just about done... I've got to get something for my neighbor who watches the girls once in awhile before school, and something else for Emma... but other than that, I think we're set!!

Who'd I miss?

Doing a lot of zooping of late. It took the kiddies all of about five minutes to dismantle the house last night. Off to band dress rehearsal in a few.

Can't remember if I mentioned this and I'm too lazy to scroll back up, but I went to some of the play rehearsal last night and heard the music for some of my songs for the first time. So far, so good.

Good morning gang. Coffee's on and hot for anyone who needs. And hot chocolate with marshmallows for those of us who don't drink coffee.

Is everyone staying warm? Anyone out in the bad ice of Oklahoma and Missouri? That looks bad.

Jasper, so sorry about your FIL. You and you wife are in my prayers.

Good news on Alex and his back! Pixie dust for a quick recovery.

Pixie dust for anyone else who needs it for illnesses or anything else!

Good morning all... everybody up and ready to rock and roll ?

I miss Pogo.
Why do you miss me.... I'm right here. :hi:

Remember the surprise I had for John? Well guess who said thanks, but for that money I'd rather go to WDW! That's my boy!!! So I guess in March when we go for spring break, we'll be getting APs so we can go back in December!
It must be the new hair do ! :D

Being from snow country, though, it was a little hard for us hearing Christmas Carols in that warm of weather!!! I'll take the snow if only for Christmas!!
You can have mine, Buddy !

Thanks for the pixie dust!! And John's my kind of guy... how great is it that you'll be able to go twice in one year!! We might be there in December, too... how cool would that be!! Patti and I are thinking of a December trip also..... but .... it is the busiest time of year for me. We might have to do December 26th. to January 2nd.

Good morning gang. Coffee's on and hot for anyone who needs. And hot chocolate with marshmallows for those of us who don't drink coffee.

Thanks Scott ! I've left some fresh Blueberry Muffins for everyone to go with the coffee.

Got to run.... see you all later. :bolt:

I miss you, silly, because you just zoop in and out and it's hard to pick on you when you're barely here!!!

December is a wonderful time at WDW!!!

Yummy, blueberry muffins, I'm in seventh heaven!!!

Hey all! Ok, I skimmed thru posts so if I miss anything I'm sorry...

Jasper - sorry about your FIL... hugs to you and your wife. Hope she's doing well. And good luck and pixie dust for your upcoming back surgery.

Alex - glad to hear you did well in surgery. Continued pixie dust for your recovery! And so glad your funny bone is still intact!

Mikki - how scary on the breakin... being the victim of a home breakin (and two attempted home breakins) I know the fear.. we ALWAYS leave lights and our tv on when we go out at night now. I pray that your police catch the burglars and that swift justice takes place!

Christine - congrats to you and John on your 14 years! My dh and I celebrated our 14 year anniversary back in November! Next year is the big 15! I'm trying to scrape up the money for a Disney trip... but it's looking more like a Gatlinburg one... you guys planning anything big for your 15?

Pixie dust and best wishes to any who are sick or need it.

Please send some pixie dust my way.. we learned Monday night that one of my aunts has been taken into Hospice Care. She'd been suffering from ovarian cancer and it's moved into her stomach. They offered her surgery that would extend her life by a couple months but she turned it down. My two cousins (both men and unmarried, ages 38 and 35) lost their dad (my uncle) about 10 years ago. So when my aunt dies they will be left alone. Please pray for her, and for them. I'm praying that she will at least make it thru the holidays.

That's great news, Christine!!!! WDW is beautiful with all the Christmas decorations!!!

We're very excited! We haven't been at Christmas since 2004, so we miss it! We're not gonna tell Olivia though...it'll be her present!

We might be there in December, too... how cool would that be!!
EXTREMELY cool! Can you imagine the girls together? And I know John and Dan would hit it off swimmingly...so, we leave the girls with the great guys and we go SHOP! When in Dec. are you wanting to go?

Good morning gang.

Good morning, Scott!

Good morning all... everybody up and ready to rock and roll ?

Wait...I thought we were supposed to :sing: rock and roll all NIGHT and party every DAY?

It must be the new hair do ! :D
OR maybe b/c I've been so good all year  OR maybe b/c he's tired of hearing me whine about going again at Christmas!

Patti and I are thinking of a December trip also..... but .... it is the busiest time of year for me. We might have to do December 26th. to January 2nd.

But if you go then, you wouldn't see me? What would be the point? ;)

WDW! We were gonna see if we could do what we did in 2004...stay from our anniversary (the 11th) through the 22nd). But with school, that'll be tough. So we're thinking like the 23rd through the 30th or maybe through New Years.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, I will pass them along to DW.

Pogo dear remember to expect mega crowds and long, long, long lines for all of your favorite attractions. Except Stitch. j/k :D
So use fast pass through out your day, and remember that you'll need to remember to wait at least 2 or 3 hours between aquiring your fast passes. And expect down times for a few of the attractions/rides. So what ya going to bring me? :D jk

Well (not as much as she was but still) she at the time was the whole that's so Raven/Cheetah girls movie thing going on so I suspect that's it. She doesn't bother me I'm just happy to see a role model for girls that isn't shaped like a stick figure. (can you imagine having say an Olsen twin doing a food special?)

We don't want to go the later dates. But yes, if we DO go later, we could meet then.

I'm pretty sure that you and I are the only ones familiar with the toa. :D
Uh, no... don't forget us. We have umpteen Bionicle figures, Bionicle movies, Bionicle novels, Bionicle drawings, etc., etc.

Can't remember if I mentioned this and I'm too lazy to scroll back up, but I went to some of the play rehearsal last night and heard the music for some of my songs for the first time. So far, so good.
I bet that felt AMAZING!

Gosh... the discussion in our house last night was whether we watch a re-run of That's So Raven or the Food Network WDW Holiday special. Either way, it was a rerun with Raven. In one of her interviews (on the Disney Channel), she has talked about how she wanted to be a chef, so it didn't surprise me to see her turn up on Food Network.

Di, I'm sending some :pixie::pixie: and a  your way... I'm sorry to hear about your aunt!! It's a tough time of year to have someone so sick... we went through it a few years ago w/ my dad and Dan's Grandma, who was like a grandma to me. We lost my dad right after my b'day, and Grandma on Christmas Eve... :( ... not a big celebratory year, that year!! But, we also think of them a lot at this time of year now, as well... maybe that's the blessing of it all??

We're very excited! We haven't been at Christmas since 2004, so we miss it! We're not gonna tell Olivia though...it'll be her present!

EXTREMELY cool! Can you imagine the girls together? And I know John and Dan would hit it off swimmingly...so, we leave the girls with the great guys and we go SHOP! When in Dec. are you wanting to go?

We're thinking maybe the second week... around the 9th or 10th through the 18th. Seems that crowds are pretty busy that first week lately, so we thought we'd push it closer to the actual holiday, and get home closer to Christmas. We'd love to go AT Christmas, but our budget just won't allow it this coming year, I think. We, too, might make it a surprise -- I'd love to try to pull it off, although they've already heard us talking about it. But not in awhile... we'll see! :D

WDW! We were gonna see if we could do what we did in 2004...stay from our anniversary (the 11th) through the 22nd). But with school, that'll be tough. So we're thinking like the 23rd through the 30th or maybe through New Years.

I agree with you about school - that's the biggest drawback, as they're vacation would start right after we got back. I'm going to talk to one of their teachers and see what they think - depending on when their vacation starts, I could see us doing the 23rd -30th, as well... a little bit shorter trip to cover the increased room costs!! But I hate the thought of how long the lines would be... so- as you can tell, I really have NO idea what dates we'll pick!!
And I agree, the guys would probably get along great... they could talk cameras and photography the whole time. (Does John golf?)

Pogo, it'd be GREAT if you were down there, too... wouldn't you want to switch and go earlier if Christine and I were there at the same time?? Could we get a whole bunch of us there together???

So, I did something bad!!! I messed up my computer! I am now using mozilla firefox b/c I broke windows explorer somehow!

How's your computer now? Sounds like something I would do... Dan always says I'm a hazard around computers. I just say it's a gift...

OK - still trying to unclench the jaw, and uncurl the fingers. DD13 had a project to work on with a friend, and they were planning to stay after school, but it had not been confirmed. DD was to call me and tell me. So I go to pick up the youngest DD after work, and call home to see if the middle one is home yet - no. So I just swing by the school to get her. She's not there. I look everywhere. I call the friend she was to work with - no - she was planning to ride the bus. Panic is setting in. I call home again. DD16 says No, shes not home. By this time the vice-principal is involved, and is calling the bus transportation, and confirmed that she was on the bus, and got off at her stop. More panic. I call DD16 again - "oh, I guess she IS home! I didn't hear her come in". :thedolls: If she had gotten up from the computer to check, it would have saved everyone (especially me!) alot of stress!
We were SOOO close to calling the police! I am VERY protective of DD, as she is hearing impaired and doesn't have good common sense. I was afraid she missed the bus and would try to walk home - which is about 5 miles on country roads that are not safe - plus I didn't think she would know the way.

I think it will be awhile before my blood pressure returns to normal! Sorry to vent, but I feel a little bit better now. Do I still need to include a question?

So I guess my question would be to those with young kids - what would you do in this situation?

Working!! Can't you tell?? :D It's okay here so far - we'll see how the night goes. But at least it's my last one 'til Sunday, and then I'm off 'til after Christmas!! :joy:

So, did I not tell you all what we're doing for Dan's birthday this upcoming weekend?? (The surprise I couldn't mention last week??) We're taking a ride on the "Polar Express"!! The Adirondack Scenic Railroad does a Polar Express train every year - it's a 2hr ride, fully equipped with the movie playing and the cars made to be like the hot chocolate car... kids wear their pj's and after you arrive at the North Pole, Santa boards the train for the ride back and does the 1st gift of Christmas with each child, etc!! Probably sounds like an odd thing to do for his birthday, but the short version of why is that he and the girls are really into trains, and we have a couple of sets, as well as the Polar Express set. We always put it under the tree (although we haven't yet... :() and Dan has always said he wants to take a train ride with the girls someday. So - when I heard of this in the spring, I bought the tickets and decided it should be a surprise!! They're all excited, even Dan - he thinks it'll be pretty cool. So - that's our Saturday evening - I can't wait!

So - anybody around yet?? How are you all doing?

Hey guys, guess who!! It's just me checking in to update you on Alex. I didn't have a chance to talk to Ellen today so I decided to post.
Unfortunately I didn't get into the city today--I couldn't take another day off of work and I had my children tonight--so I didn't get to see Alex:cry:. (I really did miss him.) However, in our many phone calls throughout the day, he sounded better and better. He is eating, walking around a bit, and feels more himself. The changes are so dramatic to me so soon after such extensive surgery. He asked me to bring the computer tomorrow--I suspect he is very bothered that he has not posted his facts!
Of course throughout this whole ordeal he has never been at a loss for words! He was actually cracking jokes in the recovery room not even an hour after his surgery! Believe it or not, he really is a good patient. I have hardly heard him complain. He has the nurses so charmed that one actually went out in the middle of her shift and brought him back a snapple. Should I be worried?? ;)
They are forcasting 5-8 inches of snow beginning tomorrow early afternoon. I will absolutely freak if I can't get into the city tomorrow!! Wish me luck.
Happy Holidays to all of you! Thanks for your concern and good wishes.

Could you do me a favor? Tell Alex he can only have his computer if he visits us in JQ!!!!!

Icing or no icing? I'm a little odd in that I only like plain gingerbread.
I have both (the gingerbread cookies I've been making are really good... no icing needed). Who wants some?

So I guess my question would be to those with young kids - what would you do in this situation?
Cindy, to tell the truth... 13 isn't that young! Sounds like the girls need a better check-in system with each other and with you.

Maria, thanks for giving us an update! I really appreciate it. (I was hesitant to be the stalker JQer.) Glad to hear that Alex continues to do great! Here's some more :pixie: for him. I'm not looking forward to that snow tomorrow. I have to drive into the hospital for treatment (the transportation company is on strike this week). If it weren't for the forecast, I'd think of swinging by the hospital to visit Alex (to bring him cookies, of course!)

Night all!

(I really did miss him.) Thanks for the update, Maria. Tell Alex we all miss him here. Did I say that ? :D

T&G, glad that your DD is fine! Sorry for the stress you went through! How much wine has it taken to calm you down? :wine:
The first glass is almost gone, but I'm starting to relax. :D I can only imagine what parents must go through that really have missing kids!! This is as close as I ever want to get!

Thanks for the update Maria! So glad to hear that things went so well! Tell him we are thinking of him.....and to leave the nurses alone....

Just when I thought DD singing performances were almost over, 2 more are added. So we still have 3 more to go!! Tomorrow night is at The Grotto. Its a spiritual retreat and gardens. Every year they have a "Festival of Lights" where all of the trees are completely wrapped in lights. Its absolutely beautiful. They have a live nativity, and various groups perform in the Chapel. Could you send some pixie dust for dry weather? Last time it rained (even though it was still gorgeous).

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what do you do at a possum festival? Would Pogo and Jym enjoy themselves?

I couldn't tell you...but it does sound right up Pogo and Jym's alley, doesn't it?

We're contemplating going next December too!
Cool! I smell a major meet coming on!!!

Perfect! I hope this happens!

The Polar Express sounds AWESOME! Your town sounds like a storybook! You guys get to do the neatest things!

Me too!! :santa3:

The Polar Express ride isn't actually in our town... it's in Utica, about an hour away. But we do love our little town... I sure hope it works out that we get to stay here permanently!!

Blythe, the Polar Express ride sounds really fun...Is Dan a kid that would get a gift?

Hhhhmmmm, I wonder if I could get Gilles back again next Dec.!!!!

Nope... he'll just have to enjoy the girls'! :D

Try!! :D

Major meltdown. Even my muscles are sore from being so tensed up for all that time! Guess I need some wine to relax them!!
How'd the wine do?? Are you more relaxed? I'm still just so glad she's fine...

We're contemplating going next December too!

Those are just about the same dates that we were considering!

Yeah!! Sounds like we could have quite the group!

I'm so glad to hear how well Alex is doing... Dan and I have been thinking about him quite a lot. It sounds like everything is going really well... that's awesome!! And I wouldn't worry about Snapple-girl... he'd be crazy to let you go!! :) You need to be around here more...
Good luck getting into the city tomorrow... we're supposed to get 5-8 inches, too. Sending some :pixie: your way so you can get in okay...

Guys, I don't think I can go next December.:(
Amy keeps acting lik her boyfriend is going to propose. He is a goood guy though --- and Amy should graduate in May.

Blythe - I'm glad things are working out on your card. I hope Emma feels better soon and I hope you get some sleep.

Good morning all..... we are under a snow advisory here in Rochester today. Anybody that needs the snow should hire a truck and get here to get their share !

Christine..... just for the record..... Jym is the possum killer. :car: I was only his sidekick on that adventure. But it was tasty, right Jym ?

Blythe & Dan.... I hope you enjoy the Polar Express trip with the girls. I hear it is a wonderful trip.

As far as a December WDW trip goes, it is something Patti and I have talked about on many occasions. You guys make your plans and if we can be there, we will. But when we talked about a December trip, it was also thought that we would join DVC and I don't think that is in our plans anymore. :(

We are thinking more about a winter home in a gated community where we could live January till May with out the :snowball:.

Today is a little slower than anticipated. Several clients has postponed their meetings because of the weather so I might have to spend some time in the office today. :(

See you all later. :D

Just zooping in to say Good morning, everybody!!!

Drive safe in all this incoming snow. We're suppose to get around 2 1/2-3 inches.

I got to tell you something that happened at my store last night. I have several lights that need to be replaced, so after trying for 2 months to get the electrician in, he finally arrived. One of the things I needed him to do is check our emergency and exit lights because they have never worked since I took over the store, anyway, he opened the battery pack and the battery needed to be changed in 1985. Do you think our head office should start listening to me when I tell them I need something?

Hmmm. Does the giant gingerbread house in the lobby have holes in it now?

Ellen, it was amazing to see it come to life. I hate missing opening night. Of course, old Mr. confidence here thinks that might be okay, in case the audience thinks it's terrible.

The gingerbread house did have a lot of holes, and a lot of fluff added to it. I can't believe people have to touch(and eat) the gingerbread house. So one of the bakery chefs came out and decorated a few gingerbread houses and had some samples of Gingerbread shingles that they used on the house. Not the ones that were on the house but ones that were placed on the house. Just wished we could have sampled some with royal icing on it. :D Have you been to the Grand to see the Gingerbread house? You diffently could see digs in the icing and pieces broken off of the shingles and what not off of the house. What ever happened to look with your eyes and not with your hands?

Please pray for her, and for them. I'm praying that she will at least make it thru the holidays.I echo Diane's sentiments, Jasper....and Di... I am thinking of your aunt and your cousins.

I am so sorry.
Your work won't let you off for a death in the family?

You have my attention! Here's the scoop:
I was working nights at a pizza place while going to school. A co-worker asked me to drive her to a night club so she could meet up with a friend. I went inside (to make sure her friend was there before I left her), and there was John, sitting there looking like he'd lost his best friend.

I went up to him and asked if he was okay. He said, "Who ARE you?" We got to talking and then went outside so we could hear each other better without the loud music, etc.
When the sun started to come up, we realized it was almost 6am and that we'd better go.

He said he'd never met anyone like me, and that if we were smart ,we'd just get married. I agreed. That was a Friday. On Tuesday I had a ring. Two weeks later we'd bought a house. Eight months later we were married. (We'd have married sooner, but our house needed LOTS of work!)

And here we are, 14 years later! Good thing we're crazy or this would have never worked! :D

We'll see how the year goes as I'm thinking of moving again & that may change things. I'm not going to rule it out but it's a long shot at the moment.

Funny... I'm not sure Dan would agree that I had to drive today, but before I went to bed this morning, I realized we were out of coffee. I'd also planned on doing Christmas cards tonight, which, for the last 10 years or so has necessitated a good Christmas movie, some Baileys on ice and a lit Christmas tree nearby to get them done!! Well, the only thing missing in our house was the Baileys... so, between that and my coffee, I knew I'd be getting up a little early so I could run out before the girls got home!! Add in a serious snowstorm... okay, so I got up a little earlier than early and headed out into the snow -- not much will keep me from my coffee, esp. after I've just worked two nights!! Needless to say, I'm home, safe and sound, enjoying a double mocha latte, and my Baileys is safe on the counter, awaiting Christmas card time.

How is everyone else doing today?? And did you all see my new #####??? :curtsy:

When the sun started to come up, we realized it was almost 6am and that we'd better go.

He said he'd never met anyone like me, and that if we were smart ,we'd just get married. I agreed. That was a Friday. On Tuesday I had a ring. Two weeks later we'd bought a house. Eight months later we were married. (We'd have married sooner, but our house needed LOTS of work!)

And here we are, 14 years later! Good thing we're crazy or this would have never worked! :D

Oh shoot, looks like I messed up the multiqoute thingy again didn't I? Oh well I have never let that stop me before.

Di, sorry to hear about your aunt.

WOW, 14 years after a start like that! Almost makes one believe in love at first sight!! Of course if it really was love at first sight it wouldn't have taken 4 days to get a ring!!:D

How do you do it in Canada ???? :D Don't have snow..can't help you sorry!

I'd also planned on doing Christmas cards tonight, which, for the last 10 years or so has necessitated a good Christmas movie, some Baileys on ice and a lit Christmas tree nearby to get them done!! How is everyone else doing today?? And did you all see my new #####??? :curtsy:

Ok first of all...nice numbers.

Bailey to do the cards? I do over 120 for work sober...does that mean I should bill them for a bottle of something? Or at least a latte? And if I'm reading the afternoon right..you get the latte first? Wow am I doing this wrong!

Maria, did you make it into the city? How's Alex doing? Hope things aren't too bad up in your neck of the woods... your little town has been mentioned all day in the weather reports.

Jasper, how is your DW doing? And how are you doing? You're still scheduled for Monday right? Can you ask someone to keep us posted of your progress? We'll be thinking of you, buddy!

Well, I'm home today -- Euan's pink eye seems to have become and ear infection etc...so he's on anti-biotics now...and my cold has become a lung infection and pneumonia ... so I'm a bit under the weather and without much zest I'm afraid. We'll just take it easy today...
Hope you're both feeling a bit better. Our pediatrician once told me that pinkeye is a cold coming out in the eyes. Makes a lot of sense, particularly seeing how the infection has advanced in both of you. The antibiotics should do you both a world of good, but some :pixie: shouldn't hurt either!

That sounds just lovely... I have the :fan: blowing in your direction for dry weather! If they end up with unexpected snow in Ohio and Indiana tonight, I "know nothing."

Cool! I smell a major meet coming on!!!

They're WHAT??? That is unreal! Way to leave people in a major bind!
We might be able to come right when Ben gets out for Christmas vacation but I won't be able to take him out of school. I'd love to see you all!

The strike isn't the best timed, particularly with today's bad weather. But the drivers are very poorly paid (particularly when you found out how much the company actually charges for each trip :faint: ) and they have no benefits. I did contact one of the social workers at the hospital to see if I could give a ride to anyone heading there today and was told that the idea was a no-go due to liability issues they might end up with. Oh well... I tried.

We are having Polar Express Day at our school next Tuesday! We have made bell ornaments for each child- first gift of Christmas - for each child, straight from the North Pole (freezer).
The students will get these after an afternoon of book readings, discussion, writings and the movie with hot chocolate.

I use to do this with my class during the season, but now the whole school is jumping on the bandwagon. Do you think it was a good idea?
That is such an AWESOME idea and I love how the whole school does it now. Only a person as special as you would come up with it!

That's crazy! I hope they get the idea that they need to start listening to you!

Does it? I wouldn't know! I think we're just stunned we made it this far at all, as is everyone else! I told you guys about how JOhn and I got engaged the night we met, right?
Sounds so similar to my Aunt Gloria and Uncle Roy's super-short courtship and marriage, and they ended up married for over 50 years. :D

Just wanted to zoop in and let you guys know that my aunt died this morning. Thanks for the prayers and pixie dust. Please keep my cousins in your prayers. Now, how am I ever gonna get thru my work day with these tears in my eyes?
Di, PM on its way to you... for you in this trying time.

So Blythe's drinking and writing, Jenn's chilling, Rhonda's wrapping, Nikki's playing football in the snow, Alex is charming the nurses, Cindy's in a beautiful place listening to beautiful music... Oh, it's so nice watching our little ones grow up. It seems like just yesterday you were just a wee tad of only 4000. :D

Okay, here's the story. A local TV station called our Chamber exec and told her they wanted to do a remote in our town to cover some of the events of the Chamber's "Festival by the Sea." They want to do it for their eeaaaarrrrly morning show that starts at 5:30 am.

Exec calls me and asks if the concert band might be able to do anything and if DD can do an excerpt from the show. I put her in touch with somebody who might be able to put together a small group out of the band, and tell her to call DD about getting into the theater and having some cast there.

So, I'm thinking I've done a good job of getting out of this 5 am thing. DD calls this afternoon and says they couldn't get enough band members together, so she told the TV people that dad would love to be interviewed during the 5:30-6 time slot.

Sooooo, Blythe. Are you going to be up and about around 4 am so you can fix me a pitcher of coffee? I'd hate to fall out of the chair in mid-interview.:sleepin::coffee:

Unfortunately I have too much experience with it.... and the sleep part. You did meet my children in October, didn't you? Sleep is for the childless!

Harry and I just got home from his Christmas Concert at school. His class recited a poem called "Colours of the Holidays" and discussed Christmas, Eid, Divali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and other festivals -- Harry spoke so clearly -- and since one of his classmates did not show, his teachers asked him to take on the opening phrase of the poem... My Harry!!! Who'd of thunk it! I taped it and may force you all to watch it if I get my manservant to upload it.....

Blythe -- I love your new number -- I'll get there one day!

Ellen -- I hope are feeling well! Sorry to hear about the commuter trouble in your neck of the woods...we just narrowly escaped the same fate a couple of weeks ago.

Christine -- thanks for the story. I loved it! My DH and I on the other hand have known each other since we were small children -- and were engaged for an eternity. My sister's 17 year marriage is much like yours, however....

Off to bed ... I want to go into work tomorrow ... My boss is taking his direct reports to lunch and I have been looking forward to it... Wish me luck!

Just pretend you're getting up early to leave for WDW. Somehow DS manages to get up at 4:30/5:00 just fine if we're heading to the airport to catch a plane! Good luck with the pieces. Even though it's mindnumbingly early, it's great press. If you're still on, tell us which station it's on (you know, like WABC, WKRP) so we can try to see if they have a live feed. We'd love to see you! :)

She's going to love it! I was Tiger Cub leader for Ben... it was a lot of fun (but a lot of work too).

BTW, there's a liquid thread product out there that you can use to "sew" on the badges. I'm sure Carol can fill you in on the details.

(Since I've been ordered to do so...) Jenn, if you don't take the time to take care of yourself, you won't get better quickly and you might even get worse. Or you might even end up getting so tired that you'll end up HAVING to sleep because you're so weak. Remember what they say on the plane, "put on your mask first." I know you have your lunch tomorrow, but on Saturday, Bryan can take over so you can nap. It sounds like an extravagance, particularly with the holidays upon us... but you need to do it to optimize your immune system and help the antibiotics do their job. And as others have said, you DON'T play with pneumonia. (Did I do good, Christine? Jenn, are you listening or doing "la-la-la-la-la thing"?)

I'm tired... can someone lend me a question?

I don't know if they do any streaming feeds on the internet, but it's WWAY out of Wlimington, NC (the ABC station.)

I had coffe (thanks to a coffee house next to the theater). Now I need some bacon and eggs. Who's cooking?

Pogo, and the rest of the snow-bound, I suspect it feels a lot more Christmas-y where your are right now. We've got about another day of warmth before the cold front comes in.

My guess would be armys surplus combat boots.

Anybody got some toothpicks to hold by eyelids open?
Do you want the ones with the green frilly plastic tops, or the red frilly plastic tops?

How'd it go? Did you tape it?????

Pogo, and the rest of the snow-bound, I suspect it feels a lot more Christmas-y where your are right now. We've got about another day of warmth before the cold front comes in.
Do you have to keep rubbing that in ??? I'd love another day of warmth..... anything above 50 will do. :D

That's what I thought you'd say!!! What kind would you make for her? I don't know... Biscotti ????

Seriously...I don't have any snow..not even a flake. (we have the "good lake effect" here and are well clear of the snow belt so honestly get very little anyway but as of right now have none..my bird bath isn't even frozen today)
Really ???? Good for you !:D

I let OXFAM finish my Christmas shopping for me (who wouldn't want a goat I ask???? ).
Uhm... that would be me. :D

What's everyone doing today? I've got quite the list, but I'm not even sure what I want to work on or start with. Errands, wrapping, cards, baking... laundry, vacuuming, getting rid of some paper piles... (am I the only one who has them???)I have paper piles too ! So you are not alone. :D

I haven't even got a "good" idea for Matt this year.:(
Well... I don't kow Matt because he didn't make it to our meet, but how about a week at WDW ! It sounds perfect to me !

I have broadly hinted to Brian that I want a pair of casual non winter boots -- it will be interesting to see what I get. I'll let Brian know that Cabela's has a sale on knee high LaCross Burley's.

Not so much...can't see him going for that.

Yes really..it's weird as we moved here from north of Ottawa which had serious snow to an area where people plant cacti and they live!

Jenn..you let Brian buy boots? Real boots not gift cards? Matt is limited to sweaters (avec gift receipts only). My mom is pretty much stuck at gift cards if she's buying clothes as it saves the whole wrapping stage for her.

Good morning! Our dreams of snow tackle football were squashed when we realized.... no one has a football! Don't you hate it when that happens? So we had a huge snowball fight instead, and someone is going to get a football before Sunday's storm hits so we can play this weekend!

I'm off to do some more work, have a great day everyone!

Does it come with the cheese? Mind you I've got some pretty pricey silver and china kicking around. One of my cousins registered for some stuff where a coffee cup and plate was 100.00 (usd) each! So someone must buy this junk!

Hi guys... just zooping in before I go pick Julia up. Everyone having a good day?? Ken, are you still awake???

After we go get Julia, the girls and I are meeting Dan for dinner and then we're headed to see "Lights on the Lake" - the town I grew up in has a beautiful 3 mile display of lights along Onondaga Lake that you can drive through... they're just gorgeous. (Here's a picture (http://picasaweb.google.com/Blytheny/LOTL/photo#5143946891654938514) from last year...)a local radio station has music set up to match the lights that move, etc., and Santa is usually there, handing out candy canes and/or chocolates. It's fun and the girls love it... we get a "free pass" from my hospital every year, so we're headed off to see them after dinner. :) Then, it'll be home to try and finish my Christmas cards!!

What's everyone else doing tonight??

(Oh, and I FINALLY got POTC3... guess what my new movie of choice will be during Christmas card writing tonight?? Not very holidayish, but hey... it works for me!! :cloud9:)

I'm not sure of brands...the difference between Canada and the US, the company I work for has 1 supplier and its an Canadian company. Stitch witchery is good if you want to iron, we have a product called liquid stitch, which is wonderful for putting badges on..easy to use, its a glue or velcro glue is really good!!

Very good, Deb!!! I'm impressed!!

You are?
You might not be so imprssed if you only knew that is the only way I sew! I've even made a couple of pillows with it. :D

Hi everyone! I've been so busy lately it was almost like being back at work! ;) Not going to get much quitere for a few days but at least I will be here and not in London. Hope all our ailing JQers are doing as well as can be expected - here is :pixie: for whoever needs it.

Did I see somewhere a suggestion of a JQ meet next December? I need an excuse to book another trip and that could be just what I am looking for!

We finally finished off doing our Christmas cards today. All the ones that need posting have gone but we are going to walk about 20 around the village, along with reminders for the Carol Singing on Wednesday. That should be fun!

Blythe I couldn't see your pics..but I'm sure it's lovely.

Apparently we will finally get some snow on Saturday. However it will be coming when I'm supposed to be on the highway which is not so good. Oh well..as a Canadian I should be able to drive in snow right? Besides it's not far that we are going.

I have a question for everyone-- How much sleep do you get?
Not near enough! I average about 6 hours a night. Now if we could add a few hours to a 24 hour day, I may actually get my full allotment - right Blythe? :D

Sunday is the Hanna Montana Concert in Rochester and they are forcasting huge amounts of heavy snow and very windy conditions.
Are you worried you won't be able to make it to the concert? :D

:( That makes me sad... everyone needs a white Christmas!! Sending some you're way... :fan: :snowball:
White Christmas? Whats that? Does freezing rain count? I only remember one Christmas that was white - granted it didn't snow on Christmas, but there was snow on the ground. I think we are about due, don't you?

I finally got to sleep about midnight last night, but slept solidly until 7 (the normal time my alarm goes off, even though I had it cut off.) I dozed until 10 after that. Most weekends I'm up by about 8 or 9 these days. Generally I get about 5-6 hours sleep.

Any coffee left?

I'd like to say we had a wonderful opening night. I'd really like to say that. We got through the band concert in time to make act two. I think once they get all the technical problems ironed out, it'll be fine, but nothing will kill a play better than delayed entrances and such. It's just hard to know how all the kid-wrangling and small space are going to work out until it all has to come together. It'll get better.

Good morning all.... We have another busy day started. We (Patti) started making her wonderful spaghetti sauce with sausage and meatballs. That tomorrow's diner.

Tonight I am cooking Peppercorn and Garlic crusted Steak, Twice baked Potatoes with caramelized onions, and home grown carrots with a light "brown sugar" sauce. Add our favorite Merlot (Blackstone) and Garlic toast and we'll be having a great night.

But first we are going to the Eastview Mall to experience the crazyness of Christmas. We don't need to buy anything, but we like the experience.

It's just hard to know how all the kid-wrangling and small space are going to work out until it all has to come together. It'll get better.

Doesn't it really stink when you know you can finally get one morning to sleep in and your body is awake at its normal time anyway? It really is amazing how the human body gets into such a routine.

I can sympathize with your kid issues in a tight space! About 15 or 20 years ago I was asked to be Stage Manager for a production of ANNIE! that our local community theater was doing. Somewhere along the way we were asked if we could travel with the show to a couple of small towns about 60 miles from here. The first place we went to the facilities were fairly decent. However, the second place we went to was so tiny that we actually had to go outside the building and come around the back of the building to make entrances from the opposite side.

Also because of the tiny wing spaces we actually had to take ALL of the scenery off one side of stage and out an overhead garage door and store them outside when they weren't being used on stage!! Talk about losing your religion, getting old early, pulling out your hair, etc!

Fortunately we were able to get two rehearsals in at that facility before we opened there so we quickly figured out where we could cut many of the set pieces. Of course, you know how making such changes can drive both the director crazy because it messes with their "vision" for the show and the actores because they get used to depending on the set pieces being in certain locations but we just had no choice!

Good luck, with you involved I am sure they will get it worked out!

I was pretty upset last night and couldn't sleep for hours. Finally had to take something to turn off the inner dialog (or in my case, harangue).
Did you sleep better last night, Ellen?

We have a winterey mix of about 6" of snow, sleet and now freezing rain. :(
OK, my LOVE of snow stops when it becomes freezing rain! I refuse to drive in the stuff! Course our city has almost no snow removal equipment, and does not use salt or other chemicals (this is Oregon - must be GREEN), so their tactic is to throw gravel on it, and let it melt by itself....:shake:

Uhm Sis..... it isn't a school day !:shake: Today is Sunday !
Maybe she was thinking Sunday School?

Another story!!! Around our house I'm the Disney fan, Gilles goes along with me to make me happy. Anyway, after this last trip, I'm finding him looking around INTERCOT at Disney stuff and a few other DIsney websites. Do you think he's getting the Disney bug? I think he got all caught up in the magic during the trip!!!
Funny how that happens, isn't it? :D We took my Mom and Stepdad to DL in August (her first trip ever!). They wanted to see it, but really thought of it as for the kids. Now they are planning to go back, just themselves!

I thought this :thedolls:was the smiley for lawyer?
:funny:

A quiet day today. DH is frantically out shopping - and since I am basically done, I am staying put. I work tomorrow, but then I am off until Jan 2! :joy: So I have this week to wrap things up - and maybe do some baking!
Is everyone else staying safe and warm at home?

Any updates on Alex??

We're having shrimp and lobster tonight for dinner. I saw some at Costco the other night and coudn't resist. Just can't figure out exactly how I want to prepare it. Any ideas? And tomorrow I'm baking (again! No fainting allowed!)
Yummm!!! Now, that is MY kind of cooking!! How was it?? I'd have just tossed the lobster in to steam and put the shrimp on some pilaf... sigh... getting hungry now, but what I've planned for dinner isn't even close...

What a difference a day makes! I couldn't have been prouder of the cast tonight. Hope they keep it up.
Congrats!! Glad to hear they ironed out the entrances, etc. How many more performances do they have?

Hello all! Warm cinnamon scones here if anyone would like some. Later this afternoon, I'll be making lemon blueberry scones (from scratch... not a mix this week) at Ben's request.

Pogo, Blythe... did you guys get loads of snow? We only have a tiny bit. I'm almost disappointed (but not really).

So who thinks we'll make it to the movies today?
I'd love some scones... they're a favorite around here, although I don't make them as often as I'd like. :(

Yup - lots of snow... so far today, looks like close to 6 or 7 inches so far. Started out as rain/freezing rain this morning, turned over to snow around noon. So - in answer to your movies question - I don't know if you made it, but we didn't... the girls and I were supposed to go see "Enchanted". :( Looks like it'll be an evening this week, as I'm afraid it'll be out of the theatre by Friday.

Is everyone else staying safe and warm at home?
So far, we have... I, unfortunately, have to go to work tonight! And I SO don't want to... it's so cozy and nice around here. I'm going to try to come home at 11pm, but I'm sure with all the snow/rain we've had, it'll be busy. I'm just praying the roads will be clear in the morning if I have to stay at work - I'd not enjoy a snow day if it means staying up all day!!

Christine, is that really you, or did someone just steal your screenname? :faint: You stop talking crazy, or else tell John that the girls and I would be more than happy to join him next week!! Quick - pack your suitcases before he changes his mind!!! :vacation:

A good friend of ours is a lawyer, and I always use this one with him: :bat: He's not as well-humored about it as our dear Ken is.

What movie are you planning to see?

I'm trying to sort through 720 photos to get them printed. I'm down to 680. I was thinking about putting them on a CD and making them into a movie, but I also want to do a scrapbook. Any ideas on what to put into a scrapbook and what on the CD or should I do both?
Alvin and the Chipmunks for Ben and Enchanted for me. But we never made it out. I've been working for the past 4 hours and now I have to do laundry.

As for the photos, Carol, in one of my scrapbooking mags, I found a planning worksheet that was super useful. I'm looking for it for Bethany and I'll share it with you when I find it. I included a CD with all the pics from the trip in my last scrapbook, and if you must, you could print out a contact sheet to include.

I think you were the one that told me about mixing milk with General Foods International coffee. It was yummy!

What kind of cookie mix needs brown sugar?
Not me... I almost never buy those GF Intl coffees (though I did buy a Mayan Chocolate one as I LOVE Mexican hot chocolate). And I'm not sure about other cookies, but Toll House Choc Chip cookies need brown sugar.

Slept mildly better last night... the internal harangue continues but I'm doing a lot of praying, and I didn't wait as long to resort to better living through chemistry. Let's just say that I need to learn to keep it :zipped: sometimes. :(

That is a very english word - I must be being a bad influence on Ellen! It is a tirade - not usually given to yourself but Ellen is good at multi-tasking. You know how people sometimes go on and on and on about something they think is wrong or should be different? That is a harangue when you are on the receiving end of it. What the world needs, especially at this time of year, is a lot less upset and a lot more peace and understanding. Can you feel the good vibes pouring out of me?

You, my dear, have always been a very good influence on me!

There's leftover garlic shrimp here. If no one claims it, we can have shrimp salad sandwiches for lunch. Who wants one? And there's even still scones for breakfast. I feel like I'm turning into a caterer over here. Now if I could just look as good in a sweater as Nigella does, I'd really be cooking!

Hopefully, we'll get an Alex report tomorrow.

Congrats!! Glad to hear they ironed out the entrances, etc. How many more performances do they have?
Four more, next weekend. Today went well also. I think I can breathe easier now.

DW and I got there about ten minutes before the finale once we got back from the band concert. I think I'll be doing some percussion for the show next week.

Another story: The gal who does weekend and some morning weather for the same station that did the Friday interview also plays xylophone in our concert band. Before the concert today, she told me that she happened to be in the control room when my part came on and said, "Hey, I know that guy--that's Ken. He plays drums too." I found it kind of funny that the TV celebrity was dropping my name. Then again, she didn't mention whether the control room people were laughing or not.

Me!! I got them - you did it! So - what was the play, and where are you??

Well, I'm home... I'm not sure I'm in one piece, though... I think I left a part of my sanity out there on one of the snow-covered roads!! Let's just leave it that a 20 minute drive took me almost 45, and that was with me taking the roads more travelled!! I would still be out there if I'd taken our normal road in. :( Most of the time, I could see maybe 10-20 ft. in front of my car, and forget high-beams... they were useless until I was almost home. It's a good thing we've lived here 7 months and I'm nosey enough to drive around all the back roads a lot, or I'd have been TOTALLY terrified!

Needless to say, I'm having a glass of wine to unwind before bed... it's the Chardonnay I bought for my MIL (I don't like Chardonnay much...) but right now, I need it more than she does and it's working... I think my nerves have finally stopped jangling. She'll never know... I'll go buy her another bottle before Saturday! Oh, and the chaser, you ask?? Goldfish... gotta have something to soak up the alcohol... :D

Okay all, I'm off to bed... if it continues like this all night, the girls and I will be enjoying "Enchanted" around lunch time tomorrow!

The photos were from the first show I wrote, "Radio Play". I was manning the sound board in the balcony for that one. If you imagine about a three-foot space behind all the set walls, that's all the wing space there is in that theater. We have to be very creative with set designs.

We got about a foot of snow yesterday -- and it is really really beautiful. We suffer from the same affliction as Carol does -- horrible drivers. I was stuck behind someone doing 20 clicks this morning (that's about 12 mph for you american folks) ..... It took me over 2 hours to get here!!!

Just two plays, that one and the Christmas musical we're doing now. Might try some more in the future, as long as DD has her troupe going. I'd like to try some heavy drama some time. I'm not sure either show would play outside of Peoria (an old show-biz saying) but we're having fun doing them here anyway.

Just keep saying to yourself, "There is life after children, there is life after children." I didn't start much of this (drumming, writing, etc.) until after the kids were up and out.

Okay Pogo, cover your ears. I'm semi-jealous of all you people who are having snow. To me, there's nothing that will put you in the Christmas spirit like a little (emphasize little) snow on the ground. I love to be outside at night when a gentle snow is falling--seeing it fall past the glow of streetlights, taking in the hushed atmosphere. And then running back in to have a hot chocolate and get warm. :D

Anybody else have a radio station that's playing all Christmas music? We've got one here that does it every year.

Yup!! We've got a couple, but one in particular is my favorite, as they play old and new songs - and the older ones are my absolute favorites!! (i.e. Perry Como, Burl Ives, Bing, Frank, etc...) I confess, I listen to it all the time and forget to put our Christmas CD's in!!

There is only so much "contemporary" Christmas music I can handle (that Christmas Shoes song comes to mind :hide2: )
Jenn, I am totally with you on that one... once I really listened to it after it first came out and cried all the way to work, I decided that was enough for me, and I turn it off every time it comes on!! My girls wanted me to leave it on the other day when they were in the car, so I did, to be a nice mommy... stupid of me... Emma started going on about how the little boy's mommy was dying and wasn't it nice he wanted to get her those shoes for when she sees Jesus, etc... I barely made it home!! :sob:

So - what's everyone up to today? I am very proud of myself... we got my mom and my MIL digital photo frames for Christmas, and I just finished uploading (downloading??) pics from our computer to the cards for them... I had to install the new softward and everything!! So, now they're all done & wrapped... yeah!!

Good morning all! It was 26 degrees here this morning! We had a hard frost outside, and poor Olivia thought it was snow!

Don't tell him that! He's bound to be incorrigible now! Do you want to create a monster?;)

You mean that didn't happen ages ago??? :D

:whisper: :secret:Shhhh! We can't be mean on his first day back! We have to wait for the SECOND day!
We need to be really sweet all day long...then sweep the rug out from under him tomorrow!!

Did you miss us, Alex??

I am home (actually staying at my sisters for this week). They released me from the hospital on Saturday.

Things are improving nicely. Last week was just awful - between the pain, the terrible food, etc. I just couldn't wait to be home.

I felt great on Saturday, yesterday was better, and today is even better. I am still on pain meds (probably will be for several weeks). Having my stitches removed this Friday. As far as recovery, my Dr states anywhere from 3 - 6 weeks. I will find out more specifics regarding my activity level this Friday.

Is Jasper having his surgery today? Sounds like he is having a very similar procedure.

As far as these "reports" of me charming the nurses, well........at least it got me extra jello! :D

By jove, I think I've got it. Anybody able to get to the pictures?
I got'em ...... cool pictures ! What year were they taken ?

Well, I'm home... I'm not sure I'm in one piece, though... I think I left a part of my sanity out there on one of the snow-covered roads!! Let's just leave it that a 20 minute drive took me almost 45, and that was with me taking the roads more travelled!! I would still be out there if I'd taken our normal road in.
Isn't it fun living in Central New York ? Is the Lake efrfect kicking in yet ????

I think I'm doing Christmas a week early. I'm taking my staff gifts today, I get my computer today, tomorrow is our area managers Christmas party and Friday I get together with my best friend for Christmas.
And I thought I was your best friend ! :pout:

Hey, Pogo! Where were you this morning? Sam Champion was up in Rochester this morning and I kept on hoping to see you.
Sorry, I was shoveling snow ! I hate winter !

We got about a foot of snow yesterday -- and it is really really beautiful.
I seen on our weather map you were getting it across the pond ! :D

Anybody else have a radio station that's playing all Christmas music? We've got one here that does it every year.
:shake: You are sick !

I have several that play Christmas music, 24/7 ! We bought the new car and it had XM Radio and we bought the preview special and get 6 different channels that play nothing but Christmas music. When a singer comes on that is butchering a classic, I change the channel ! :D

That is fantastic news! Sounds like you're a quick healer! I am really thrilled to hear that this went so well!

I think Jasper is getting his procedure today. Hope his is as successful as yours!

Now, you get on to DI al lthe time for wishing her week away, and you are wishing a whole season away! Doesn't that go against your "cherish every moment" motto?

Where is Di, anyway?

Just phlegmy (isn't that a great word?) -- but he feels much better. I will say "Hey" to him for you.

Where's everybody hiding today? Are they snowbound?
