Is there a definitive date that they will be taking this down?

Not sure if it's a set in stone date, but historically, the house closes up after Christmas and is down by January 2nd or 3rd.

Is it completely down by the 2nd or 3rd....or do they start taking it down those days?

I have been there in Jan. up to a week after New Years that it was still up. I think they usually do it the weekend after the Holiday, so the weekend of Jan. 5/6 could be a possibility.

We arrived on the 2nd and the house was still up, but closed. By the next day, the lobby was pretty noisy with them taking it all down. It was completely gone by the 4th.

I hope to go there the night I arrive. This way, I won't miss it. My arrival date is Jan. 2.

What do you mean it's closed?....how is it open? I'm assuming it's a house, with somekind of barrier so we can't touch it.

Even if it's closed, it still remains up a couple days and it's amazing to just see the outside and take pics!! :mickey: If you are arriving the 2nd, chances are you will get to at least see it. I don't think any of the dates that they take everything down is known "for sure" by anyone until it's actually done. I'm hoping the lights are still on the castle when we arrive Jan. 10th, but who knows!!!!

Becca - thanks for the info. I didn't know they had a 'little store'. That's neat.

I think the lights on the castle has an ending date - January 6th. But you know what....who knows. I'm hoping they'll be up when I'm there --- at least 1 night.

Last night I watch a special on the Food Network on the Christmas Confections at WDW and they spent a lot of time talking about the gingerbread house at the GF...that they start making the gingerbread "shingles" in SEPTEMBER!

Anyway, I thought it interesting that they have 25 hidden mickeys on the gingerbread house....what a fun thing to look for!!!!

They said, also, that there are 5 hidden mickey's on the chocolate carousel at the Boardwalk.

Enjoy your holiday!

Just curious does it look the same every year or do they make it different each year?
