View Full Version : I am sooooooo mad at Disney Photo Pass!!!

Here we go again...
11-12-2007, 11:14 PM
I spent over 2 hours today uploading photos on the Photo Pass website and then took the time to put together a Disney Movie using a combination of photopass photos and photos that we took while we were there.
After giving up my entire morning and submitting an order for $243 on the last day of my photos being available on line, I get home tonight to find an email stating that my order has been cancelled.
According to the letter, I violated terms of service.... HOW???? The terms of service basically say that I can not list porn, copyrighted photos or anything thing offensive. All of the photos of the girls were taken in Disney World... If anything offensive was done, don't you think someone in the park would have said something???? Many of you met my girls... they are good kids and did nothing that was offensive alone or in front of the camera.
If you are wondering what kind of pictures I could possible be talking about, click on my name then go to my homepage. The october photos were the ones they are having a problem with.

There is no phone number to call... only an email address. I sent an email but I REALLY want to talk to someone NOW... before I lose the photo pass photos too...

Any suggestions???

The only thing I can think of from looking at your album is that their halloween costume skirts look a bit short. Seeing as they are only teenagers, maybe Disney is worried that this could be seen as some type of child porn or such.

I do not personally think that is the case but Disney has to watch them selves.

At first I thought the same thing... but in the parks all of the CMs kept telling them that their outfits were cute. We did not have one single complaint.
When I went back and looked at the uploaded photos on Photopass I noticed that 3 of the photos with the girls and Woody are missing. They are the photos of Woody trying to copy the Cheerleading move the girls are making. Do you think that might be the problem???

I'm a little surprised they did that, but what the CM's think about their costumes, and what the Photopass people think are entirely different.

The blue Halloween outfit is rather risque (with the skirt being sooo short that you can see her undie covering when she's standing), especially for a teenager at the MK, but that's just my personal opinion. It doesn't really matter what the color or print is....it's still a super micro mini with over-the-knee/thigh high stockings. Kind of fetish-y. Perhaps the Photopass people thought the same thing?

I don't see anything wrong with the Woody photos. I doubt that was the problem.

It is lousy that you lost everything. I'm sorry about that.

. Disney reserves the right to refuse to post or upload or remove any photos which contain content that might be deemed to be offensive.

We reserve the right, but disclaim any obligation or responsibility, to (a) monitor and review Personal Content, (b) refuse to post or upload or remove any Personal Content from Disney's PhotoPass site
Seems like you are out of luck, really. If they deem anything offensive from their perspective than that's that. I did look through your photos. The ones with Woody are so adorable, I can't see how they would be a problem. It had to be the costume. Both of your daughters looked very cute, but the blue dress was too short. I think if she had worn a full striped stocking underneath instead of the knee highs it might've been a little better... there are a few pictures where you can see under her skirt, or it is flying up in the wind. I am specifically thinking about the poses on the balcony and the one of them in the stocks. I'm not sure which ones you used in the slideshow. I am genuinely sorry that you lost all of your hard work.:(

How old are your daughters? The costumes seem very racey for anyone younger than 21 or so...certainly not appropriate for a Disney website (regardless of what CMs might have said in the park) in my opinion.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I personally do not see anything too risque with the outfits. I do not see what Disney would deem inappropriate. Does Jasmine seem too risque for Disney? Her costume is much more so than the costume your girls have.

You can't see Jasmine's underwear. I thought the costumes were a little skimpy for Disney World. Looks like when they were in the stocks, the people sitting on the bench had quite a view.

I'm not sure what happened with your photopass order... but the skirts on those "country girls" dancing with Brer Bear & Brer Fox in the Halloween parade are just as short as your daughter's costumes! I personally think that they both look great!

:fingers: hope everything works out with your order! Let us know!

I'm so sorry this happened to you -- I would send another note ASAP and make sure you tell them your pics are expiring ... I had a problem yesterday w/ my order (my photopass ID wouldn't go through properly for the MNSSHP discount) and I sent them a note ... I got a note back a few hours later stating that they were overwhelmed w/ orders and e-mails due to the increased attendance at the parks, and that it could take a week or more for them to get back to me - but not to worry, that if my photos were due to expire in that time period, they'd be able to extend the expiration date.

I hope that helps - good luck!! (And I thought the girls looked great!! The blue outfit may have been a bit short, but it's more than obvious the the "underwear" that shows on occasion is a part of the costume - it's the same blue as the rest of it! That's exactly how the dancer's outfits are in some of the shows!!)

The "underwear" that is showing is not underwaer, it is bloomers. when she would walk they actually were longer than the skirt.

Thank you... it is getting harder and harder to find age appropriate costumes now. They market to children 6 and under and adults. We found these costumes on a teen costume website and they did not look quite as short. Since both had bloomers and stockings we bought them.
Both girls tried to find Disney costumes in their size but could not.... except a pirate. And neither wanted to be a pirate.

Thanks Gerald, that makes me feel like a wonderful mom.
I did not bring my daughter and her friend to Disney to flash anyone.

They were both in Bloomers, just like the people in Disney costumes. So, no one on the bench got any kind of a view. *sheesh*

And for the record, those were not the photos removed. It was photos of the girls cutting up with Woody.

Angel, I didn't see anything wrong with those costumes. There are people who reveal far more than that walking down the street everyday - including at MK. We saw quite a few sights in August and sometimes you wonder if those people have a mirror in their rooms. The skirts are a little short but it's obvious that they are intended to be that way since they have the bloomers and long stockings. I think they look quite cute! For the record, anyone in those stocks with their butts facing whomever was sitting on the bench would have been "giving a show" - I'm sorry that some people made you feel like a bad mother. I'd try to contact Photopass again and explain what happened. Maybe Disney has a reasonable explanation for it. Good luck!!

I'm sad for you (and very surprised that anyone considers the pictures offensive).

I was wondering what people wear in the Water Parks.

By the way, I do think DISNEY'S Jasmine & Ariel are quite racy (particularly when compared to your girls costumes).

Good luck (and don't let anything/anyone make you feel like you aren't a good Mom)

Angel I just wanted to clear up that I definitely wasn't trying to insinuate you were a bad mother by letting your daughter wear the costume. There were a lot of articles this year about the lack of appropriate costumes for girls. But to the people saying that the parade dancers, Jasmine and Ariel are more scantily clad....I would venture to say very few if any are underaged teenagers. And yes anyone with a skirt on who goes in the stocks would certainly give a nice view... I also didn't realize that the bloomers went with the outfit, i just thought she had a pair of blue short shorts on. I do that with skirts a lot. It probably was more evident in person.
At any rate I am genuinely sorry that you lost all that time, I personally don't find any of the pics "offensive" and maybe they will indeed work something out with you.

I looked at the pictures and I don't think that any of those could be considered indecent. ???
The only thing I thought of was the pictures that were from TOT and Buzz, were those the pictures that are automatically taken?
Maybe using those violated something because they weren't taken by a photopass photographer or your own personal camera??

I would try calling guest services and asking for a contact number.

I took some of the photos with my camera and the Photo pass person took the same photo with theirs. They zoomed in a little too far which is why I used my own shot.

I did call customer service at the parks and they gave me a phone number to Photo Pass. Of course it is a recording... I had to leave my name and number and I should hear back from them in a couple of days... grrrrr....

I had "something" like this happen before. I was working on my photos the night they expired... you know getting the sizes boarders, cards stuff ready to order. Well at 11:05 pm (after working on them for hours) poof they were gone. The website said that the photopass was expired. I e-mailed them right away, in tears of course. Not just the time spent, but all the pictures I felt I had just lost. Well they did e-mail me back (I believe the next day) and gave me one more week one my photopass. All they needed was the number which I had given them on the previous e-mail.
If you haven' t heard from them or corrected the situation, I would continue to call or email daily. This is a hugh product that they push, They need to back it up.

Oh by the way, in my opinion, if they did have a proble if one or some of your pictures. Wouldn't they just remove "those particular ones" from the photo pass?

Good Luck

I think they handled this rather poorly. They should have told you which ones were not within "Terms of Service" and why, plus give you a chance to change it up, if needed.

Now, those costumes were SO cute. If I had the body like they do, I'd wear them! Very cute. The skirts were short (I don't think they were too short, especially since they have bloomers on), but I don't think it was Disney's job to tell you that was the case. I would say, that if they were allowed in the MK, they should be allowed in your PERSONAL album you made. I mean, they have cheerleading competitions at Disney, and they don't make them change their skirts (college girls can get SHORT skirts!)

Please keep us updated on what they say, in case others have this problem as well.

Angel, I'm so sorry this has happened this way. Hopefully they just let you fix the problem and be done with it.

The only thing besides the outfit I can see is that you took a pic of the TOT ride pic. Did you include that in you movie? I think disney would not allow you to include something they could have made money on.

I can't imagine that the reason for the "terms of service" violation had anything to do with the photo contents. I even looked at them a second time with my "super prude mother" hat on and found nothing offensive in any of them!
I will say that this thread has made me plan on getting my photpass photos taken care of the day after I return home from the trip so I don't lose them! I am so sorry for your troubles and I hope you get a definitive answer from PhotoPass soon (as well as your photos!).:(

11-14-2007, 03:19 PM
Well, I got my answer from Photo Pass today....

It was the Intercot photo that caused the problem!!!

The person I spoke with said that since I called and emailed so quickly that they were able to retrieve the order. It is in holding and they will (at my request) put the movie back in my projects minus the deleted photos.

It seems that they were only supposed to delete the Intercot photo but a few others were deleted from my uploaded photos in the process. I will have to see if they are still on the movie or if I have to upload them again. There was nothing wrong with any of my photos after all... :clappy:

I left Stan a message asking for a release for the photo because I really want the Intercot photo included in the movie. That was the whole reason for going in October in the first place... If I can not get a release I can replace that photo with another. I am just happy that I caught them before the project was deleted.

They have also given me until December 14th to access the Photo Pass.

I feel so much better now.

You are not going to believe this...

Tonight I got home ans checked my Photo Pass saved projects. As promised, the movie was back in my projects since they received the release.
I ordered my CD and Movie, paid and printed the confirmation.

10 minutes later I got this:
Dear Angel Moore,

This note is to inform you that your DisneyPhotoPass.com order # 463298, has been canceled because a product in the order contained photo(s) which did not meet the content guidelines outlined in our uploaded photos policy. To review the policy, please review the site Terms and Conditions.

Can you believe it??????
What am I going to have to do to get this order? Maybe I should give up and save my $200.

Stan
11-16-2007, 01:55 AM
Well, that really stinks.

Perhaps (I'll be charitable for now) it was just leftover computer settings from their previous rejection, and they'll fix it?

I don't think my business would last very long if I dealt with my clients in such a manner.

kakn7294
11-16-2007, 09:05 AM
You've got to be kidding!!! I'd be so upset right now! Hopefully it's just as Stan suggested and it's a just a computer glitch on their part. I don't see how it could be a violation of the policy if Stan has given you a release for the Intercot pic. I'd probably be giving someone quite an earful (no pun intended) about now - and it wouldn't be polite. Best of luck to you - let us know what happens.

Stan
11-16-2007, 09:48 AM
Whether they fix it or not, they've left a sour taste in their client's mouth. Plus a whole bunch of other folks are hearing every detail of their shenanigans (funny how that works sometimes).

It would appear that their program is an assembly line, pretty much lacking in personal attention. Very un-Disney. $200 isn't enough to pay for some genuine communication with a customer?

Well, lets see what happens now.

I just got off the phone with Laura. She was very nice and apologized for all of the problems. She said that they did not get the information out to the inspectors before I placed the order again. The last person told me that the project would not be put back in my account until they were ready to let it go through.

I asked about a discount for the problems and she offered me free shipping and 3 5x7 photos. That comes out to about a $50 value. I am pleased with that.... if it works this time.

I sent the order again and Laura is supposed to be watching for it. I got my confirmation for the order... it is just a matter of time to see if it gets cancelled.

If it does not work this time I give up...

Well, I guess it is time to give up.

For me the test of their customer service will be whether Laura calls you back on her own (she should already know without asking that your order was cancelled again). Of course don't let me dissuade you from calling.

Anybody can mess up, certainly including me. However, at some point you quit trying to collect any $ from the client, just give them the stuff, and hope they don't spread bad news about you. At least that's the way I see it. Doesn't always work that way when I'm the client, though. :(

Guess what our little pep squad uniforms looked like...uh...we wore bloomers too. And our cheerleaders...Dance team...I have no doubt they were ADORABLE.

Well, It finally made it here.

I must say that I am glad I ended up getting this thing for free. It is kind of cool, but there is a problem that I am not sure I can explain clearly...
When you do the photo movie you can put a lot of photos on the movie. I can't remember the exact amount, but lets just say 70 photos. Then, you have 5 catagories to choose from, MK, MGM, Epcot, AK and resorts. You can only put about 15 photos in each section. I had a lot of photos to put in MGM so this is how I did it...
MK photos
MGM photos
MGM photos
Epcot photos
AK photos (which ended up being photos from past trips because we did not visit AK this trip)
Resort photos

It is so hard to explain... you can put more photos on the CD than there is room for in the catagories. So, you have to use at least 1 catagory more than once. I thought they would find a way to make the transition from one part of that catagory to the next a smooth one. I was wrong.
As each catagory starts a book opens up and shows you where you are. The pictures pop up with animation and characters. When the catagory is complete, the page closes and you go on to the next one. Not when you have a duplicate catagory though... I did the MGM page 2 times. It runs with the first set of photos, closes, then goes right back to the MGM page with the new pictures but the same exact animation.

I am going to try to upload the movie to Webshots tomorrow so you can see what I am talking about. It is weird. All I can say is that I am glad I did not have to pay for it because I would have been very upset. For $75 I would think they would have that worked out.
If they give you a large amount of picture space for the movie there should be a way to make the catagory extend, not repeat itself back to back.

I will let you know when I get it up.

Proof that if you want it done right, you need to do it yourself.

I have found more and more as cost cutting and outsourcing runs rampant, if you want something done right, there's only one person who can do it.

I handle my own repairs for the most part, I do my own photo developing, etc. I really feel bad for people who don't have the resources or the know how as they really get taken. Not pointing fingers or anything, just stating an observation.

Glad I have no plans to support Disney's Photopass.
