Just curious if anyone has any idea why the airfare for this particular week is out of control on both Continental and Jet Blue. It's $500-$600 per person and it's been like that for over a month. Any ideas?

Don't know why that would be the case - Southwest from BWI to MCO for those dates is $198.80 roundtrip for 1 person.

Maybe because it's spring break time. I find the best airfare with Southwest.

I suppose...but I thought that most spring breaks are around Easter? Maybe that's not the case. Unfortunately I can't use SW out of Newark.

Massachusetts has break that week. Believe me, I understand. I have not seen any decent fares for that week at all. I just looked on Southwest and all the good fares seem to be gone with them, too. It's a tough week to fly. Look at JetBlue just for fun...........399-429 each way!

Ok, so all of Mass schools are off at the same time then? In NJ our schools are all different, it depends on the district....not too many have off that week (we happen to be one of them).

Have you tried Expedia or one of those type sites? They have better deals listed much earlier than the actual airline sites do. We bought in April from Indy to Orlando for $87 per person each way for or December trip. It's worth checking.

Southwest flies from Philadelphia, so it might be worth the drive to fly from there.

Spring Break now lasts from February until May so airfares will reflect that. Also, in the winter, Florida is a very popular destination for people in the NE so fare will be higher. Newark is not that far from PHL. I would suggest making the drive to PHL and flying to MCO on SWA. That would the least expensive option.

Schools in NH are off the week after yours(April 27-May4), and I just booked on Southwest, needed 4 tickets, but had enough rewards points for 2 free, the other 2 for a non stop round trip flight from Manchester to Orlando cost $698. I got the cheapest internet special. I just checked the same flights and in a little over an hour since I booked the return flight has gone up $20!!!

NY Public Schools are off that week (4/19-4/26)....and that week has Passover too....one of the few times that Passover and Easter are not at the same time....that crazy moon.

I think that airfares have gone up recently for the coming months! We are going in January and I just paid $536 for three of us, which we have NEVER paid that much, and that is on SW too!!

Keep looking, you have a while yet so hopefully you'll get something like you are used to paying.
