I read in the "Unofficial Guide" to WDW that there are taxis that can carry up to 8 people. We will have 5 adults and a toddler. Has anyone used or seen these large taxis? Or will we need 2 cabs? We will not be using the DME due to bad experiences in the past. Thanks.

There are taxi vans available that accomodate 7 - 8 comfortably.

I'd suggest giving Magical Express another chance. We've used them three times now and they've been fine.

You might also want to look into a limo service. The cost between that and a taxi is not that much different.

The past several trips we have used *********** Limo service and they have been great. They are always waiting for you in baggage claim holding a sign with your last name on it. They get your bags and lug them to the vehicle. Drop you off at your resort and then provide you with a pickup time for your return back to the airport. They offer sedans, vans, limos and lincoln navigators. We always do the navigator, very roomy. $180 for it round trip.

Can they accomodate 5 adults and a toddler comfortably?

If you tell a limo company what you need, they should have a vehicle that will fit you comfortably. Be sure to tell them, as well, if you will need a car seat.

Our first trip we used Mears at a cost of $100.00 round trip for the 4 of us, myself, DH & DS (then 4 & 6). This was a lengthy process & we thought it was only OK. The next year, on the advice of a friend, we made arrangements for a town car service. But staying more than a week, we had more luggage than a town car could accomodate, so we got a van (for the same cost as the bus with people going to other resorts). They had the sign with our name on - we felt like celebrities! Our driver rounded up the luggage & didn't even want us to help with it. He was wonderful! They even made a grocery stop for us & this was at the same cost of $100.00 round trip! It was fantastic. They also had a return trip pick up time a little closer to our flight than Mears or now DME.

But since DME has started, we are huge fans! No additional cost & both times we've used this service it has been great! Very short wait times & straight to our resort! We love that they handle the luggage for us! We used the service the very first month it began & would only go back to a private service if Disney started to charge extra for this service & if the cost was the same for the private serivce. Then the only reason for the switch would be the grocery stop!
