Has anyone ever booked a regular room because the room you wanted was not available and at check-in asked to be upgraded to what you originally wanted and pay the difference? We would be willing to do this, but how often do rooms open-up and allow this to be possible???? This would be in mid January during the Value Season. Does Disney completely book all rooms or do they leave some open???

I'd check about 45 days prior to your arrival - that's when folks with packages need to cancel or risk a penalty payment. Also, 5 days prior to arrival is when room only reservations need to be canceled without penalty so something might open up then as well.

Better yet, let the folks at Magical Journeys (http://www.yourmagicaljourneys.com/)work on this for you. If there's any possibility of getting a certain class of room, they'll definitely keep working on it for you!

We had booked a Savannah View room at AKL in April. We really wanted to stay concierge, but you can't guarantee a savannah view with concierge and that was more important to us. So when we checked in we asked if there was a savannah view room available at concierge level. There was so we paid the difference at check in and moved to concierge. Not a problem at all.
