9/25: MGM/Magic Kingdom/Epcot

This was our day to sleep in! MGM didn’t open until 9 am so we actually slept in till 8:15 am. We decided to skip getting breakfast this morning since we had a lunch and dinner reservation. We got to the bus stop about 8:30 and within minutes were on our way to MGM. We got to MGM about 10 minutes before it opened so we watched the opening ceremony show. Today we did The Great Movie Ride, Sounds Dangerous, Light’s, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream, Beauty and the Beast, Tower of Terror. The one thing I don’t think I would do again is the Beauty and the Beast. Alan’s dad had told us to make sure to see the Light’ Motors, Action stunt show. Alan really liked this! I was actually surprised Alan liked Tower of Terror, as he doesn’t really like most thrill rides.

We had lunch reservation at 50’s Prime Time Café at 11:30 am. We got checked in about 11:15 am and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Our server was Denise. Alan had the fried cheese with Lightly Breaded, Toasted French Bread and Fruit appetizer, the fried chicken served with Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Gravy and House Vegetables, he got double mashed potatoes instead of the vegetables, and for desert he had the hot fudge sundae. Neither of us cared for the fried cheese appetizer. Think it has some kind of cheese we just don’t like. Cost $29.46. I had onion rings, pot roast, and the brownie sundae. I did not care for the vegetables or the seasoning that came with the pot roast. Cost $30.76. Denise didn’t really get into character. The only thing she did was call everyone kids. She was an okay server but not great. We used the dining plan for this meal. It would have cost us $75.17. We would return probably try something else.

We lucked into a front row view of the motor cars parade. After the parade we left MGM.

After we left MGM we headed back to our hotel room to change clothes and just take a breather for a few minutes. After we left the hotel we headed to Magic Kingdom. We took the ferry to Magic Kingdom. We Went to Magic Kingdom to do some shopping on Main Street. While there we also saw the country bears, and the afternoon show at the Castle. We also took some more pictures of the Magic Kingdom. We were at the Magic Kingdom from about 4-5:30 pm.

We then took at bus over to Epcot as we had dinner reservation at 7:10 pm. We got checked in about 6:55 as it took us about 30 minutes to get to Epcot on the bus and then we had to find the restaurant. Once we got checked in at Le Cellier we only had to wait about 15 minutes. Our server was Mohamed, he was pretty good. Alan got the cheese, soup, prime rib, and the chocolate moose. I got the cheese soup, prime rib, and crème brulee. Our total was $95.06 but we used our dining plan.

Would we go there again? Probably not, neither of us liked the cheese soup. It was nasty! We both got the prime rib with the Yukon potatoes. I had asked them to leave the demi glaze off mine. Which they didn’t. The prime rib also was very salty and had way more fat than it should. And the sauce/seasoning they used on the potatoes or the greens they included in the potatoes. Neither of us enjoyed this meal!

We both liked all the breadsticks and the deserts!

Since Epcot was closing at 9 and it took us over an hour for dinner we decided just to leave after dinner instead of the original plan since we were going to be in Epcot the next day. We went to the Boardwalk instead. We both were kind of disappointed with the Boardwalk. Both one of us are big drinkers and it seemed like that is all it was filled with was people that were very drunk. We had went to see the shops mainly and the art gallery. And I have to saw the shops are a bust down there. To top it off when we were done we went over to the Boardwalk to get on a bus back to the French Quarter. It ended taking us 1 ½ hrs to get back to the French Quarter. In the 45 minutes we waited at the Boardwalk only 2 buses came and they both loaded at the same time. We ended up having to take that bus to downtown and then transfer to the French Quarter bus. Disney needs to do something about transportation here.

Sorry you didn't enjoy Le Cellier. I had a not-great meal there a while back and took it off my favorites list for a while. Our last several meals have been very good and it is back on my favorites list.

You covered a lot at Disney Studios is just a very short amount of time!
