How about a hot air balloon? :D
Just expose it to the JQ thread and it'll fill instantly. :D

Just zooping in and out. Welcome back Di. Waiting for the trip reports.

I'm a little down right now--going to the funeral service tomorrow. Funny, the last thing he said to me was very complimentary, after band practice last Tuesday.

Anyway, I'll be back to my regular cynical self in no time.

Can somebody take Frankie's encyclopedia away?

Edited to remind all our U.S. folks to be sure and vote tomorrow. Kick the rascals out or keep the rascals in; just be sure to vote.

No, I give you the day off (to go vote). Do you want a note? ;)

I don't think that excuse will fly as it doesn't take that long to vote...

Where'd you go, and what did you have?? (Can I live vicariously through you and Robert? We just had a plain old/plain old dinner, although it was yummy...)
Nope, I'll have one of our docs write you a note... "sorry, she can't come in, she's overstuffed...." :D

We went to a restaurant called Saltgrass Steakhouse and both had sirloins with baked potatoes, salads and Shiner Bock beer bread. And then, we had cheesecake with white chocolate sauce for dessert (if you are anti-white chocolate, you could have strawberry sauce in your vicarious life ;)). It was good, but I ate too much. Can your doctor just fax the note directly to work for me?

We're thinking of getting my MIL the same thing (a digital frame) ... have you heard any are better than others?
I don't know a whole lot about them, but we got one that you need to get a separate memory card for - that way we can get whatever size we want. I've heard there are some with built in cards, that only hold less than 20 pictures!

Just expose it to the JQ thread and it'll fill instantly. :D
:humph: Are you implying?

My parents and my in-laws are each getting a digital frame, with all our Disney trip pictures (and other) loaded on it!

How about a hot air balloon? :D

Does anyone have any wine??
I was thinking of getting a digital frame for my mom too. Aren't we all so smart? We all have those proverbial great minds! :D

 Perfect idea for Pogo! And Ken, of course (and as usual), is right.

I have a few bottles of Cabernet that have been aging quite nicely ever since I've been "off" the drink. You're welcome to them.

Did I bore everyone now?:D
Not at all! We're glad to listen to you.

Ken, we're here for you. Just holler!

Blythe, wait until Mikki gets here and hears your OB/Gyn's diagnosis of Rhonda. :rotfl:

Anyone notice anything different about me???

Have a good night, all! Coffee will be ready for you in the morning.

Yes. Ken is running for office in his small town in the south....mayor, justice of the peace, sheriff, undertaker, barber, bartender, general store clerk.....Just don't get a speeding ticket in his town. :D

Imported from Brooklyn?

That too! I love Nigella, she was on Regis and Kelly this morning.

I guess Nigella is more popular in the US than the UK!

I had a GREAT time! Disneyland is AWESOME!!! MAGICAL!!! WONDERFUL!!! The Halloween decorations were still up on our arrival on Thursday. They were great! Then on Friday they were down and Christmas stuff was going up! The Haunted Mansion was AWESOME in all it's Nightmare before Christmas glory! Space Mountain is definitly better in DL! And I got to do a virtual phone call with Stitch! He even sang happy birthday to me, he sang "Hound Dog" to me.. AND told me that I was one in a million! WAIT! Why am I telling you all this? You guys will just have to wait till I post my trip reports and read all about it there!
DL is a great place to visit - glad you had fun! Was the stitch virtual call still in the old Carousel of progress building?

And, do you really think John ever checks in on JQ? ;)

Maybe he would if we reported a particular post :thedolls:

What are you all voting on today? It's not time for a new president yet is it?

Actually I was Christmas shopping until I heard a severe weather warning for our area. DD Laura was at work so I caled my hubby and he went with me to pick up Gage at his sitters.
W had some rain and wind, but nothing too bad. How goes the baby count tonight?

Did I miss anyone?

disneydrmr

Howdy everyone... wow! Was it ever rough getting up this AM to come to work... ugh! All the time changes/zones have my body quite thrown off and it's catching up to me I guess.

We sure did miss you! I'm so glad you had a good time. Did you record the phone call?

I WISH we could've recorded the phone call... but it seems our trip was 'plagued' with 'capturing the memories' issues. My camera 'broke' on the first day. Got about 10 pictures... went to take some on the Jungle Cruise (they have Piranahs on their cruise!) and it wouldn't work. Noticed the top of the camera was snapped up. Couldn't get it to snap back into place. So I took no further pictures. Then my friend's camcorder (she's the only one of us to bring one) decided to get sick on Saturday morning. Lost part of Friday night (starting wtih Ariel's Grotto meal and just doing some looking around).. but couldn't film ANY Saturday - which would've been our Storyteller's Cafe breakfast (missed out on Deb dancing with Kenai and Koda), my phone call with Stitch, the Fireworks and Fantasmic...:(
Deb did take a couple of pictures of the phone call though.. but it's just not the same...

The curious thing about your observation is that my first encounter with Stitch was at DLR back in 2002. It was before the movie came out and they were advertising him everywhere. My first Stitch plush (a little one...perhaps 7") was purchased at a gift shop in DLR or DCA.

When will you post your trip report? I'm planning a trip to DLR next summer and I'm starting to read everything I can about the place....I've been three times but my memories of all 3 trips are foggy. Any tips?

You could still find a few Stitch themed items ... but he just wasn't EVERYWHERE like he was at WDW. I think I saw a total of 3 different plushes of him.

I'm working on my trip reports. Hopefully by the weekend I'll get them up. Tips? If you eat at the Stitch breakfast at Paradise Pier or the Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand California - you CAN order from a menu! They will not tell you this or bring menus.. they push for the buffet (which is VERY expensive!) You may pm me with any questions you have...

Welcome home, Di!!! I really missed you!!! It's really neat that you had Stitch sing to you!!!! How was your birthday?

My birthday was GREAT! It was actually back on Oct. 23.. but we celebrated it while at DL! I got so much attention from the button... and a few free desserts!

Yup! I'll PM you right after this...
(Hey, now that I think about it... how'd you get a pic with my DH?? )

You didn't know that your DH was moonlighting at DL as Capt. Jack? Hmmmm.. maybe he didn't tell you cause he's saving up the money to surprise you with a romantic get away?

Where is everyone tonight??? Is this what happens around here as the holidays approach? Please don't tell me any of you are out Christmas shopping, I'll just cry.... :sob:

Well, I guess I'll make you do worse than cry as I tell you that I'm DONE with my holiday shopping!

Um, since this was my first visit I'm not sure if it was in the old Carousel of Progress building. It was in the "Innoventions" building. Next to Space Mountain.

For us it's a lot of local issues.... some tax renewals and some new tax issues...nothing real exciting.

Diane.... guppy ? (Private joke) glad you had a great time at DL and thanks for the photo pass invite.

You are welcome for the photo pass invite! You know.. instead of that postcard I should've sent you a Koi from the Koi pond at the Disneyland Hotel.. they would've put your guppy to shame! :D

You are welcome for the post card.. and I bought the stamps in DLR! We went to the Guest Service Desk at the hotel and the gentleman there printed them up for us on this little machine. (tried to get him to print us out some money but he said he could only do stamps :D)

Is 2 days EVER enough at ANY Disneyland park??? :D Seriously - can't answer for what summer crowds will be like so I really can't say for sure if you could do it all in 2 days.. but we managed to do all of DL AND all of CA in the 2 1/2 days we had! BUT.. crowds were REALLY low on Thursday and Friday until after dinner time (when the locals got out of school and off of work).. Saturday was very busy, but we still managed to get quite a bit done. Be forewarned - prices are a lot higher on food and stuff out in California. If you go do NOT NOT NOT miss doing the Storyteller Cafe Breakfast with Chip and Dale! This was our favorite! (yes, you read that right... my favorite meal was NOT the Stitch breakfast) And the Disneyland Hotel was absolutley wonderful! But if I were to go back (and I hope to someday) I would stay in the Grand Californian! (think Wilderness Lodge!) What a BEAUTIFUL hotel! I guess I would suggest you go in the middle of the week (like Tues, Wed and Thurs..) maybe you would miss the weekend crowds and the locals would be at work also...

Ken.... can you fix my ticket when I drive to WDW thru your town ?
Ours is a town you drive to, not through. We're kind of at the end of the highway. But if you break your ticket while you're here, I'll try to fix it.

Is everyone ready for elimination on tonight's Dancing with the Stars?
Why don't they do a 'Survivor Dancing with the Stars'?

I meant to express my condolences, Ken. I am sorry about your friend.
Thanks. The funeral was pretty nice. One of his sons did part of the eulogy--the guy had as wicked a sense of humor as me, if you can believe it. On a table in the church entryway, they had a picture of him and his boys when they were younger, his trumpet in its open case, and his fest band hat. Pretty good turnout from both bands too.

At the risk of offending EVERYONE .... I was wondering, if you throw a cat out a car window, does it become kitty litter?

I would have but I'm cdn. Not a huge car buff...but have a funny story (no teeth I promise) when I was 16 (which is far away now come to think of it) my parents were going to get me a car. (A fine idea at the time). One of my mom's co-workers was moving to Japan and wanted to sell his Alfa Romeo (pretty sure it was yellow but may have been red) convertiable. As he was moving and wanted someone to have it who would love it he was prepared to sell it cheap (ended up being way more expensive to buy me the car they did buy).

My mom didn't think I'd like it! Who ever heard of a teenager any where any when who would like a sports car? It's been a huge joke since then as of course by the time Mom talked to my Dad & I he had sold it...

I can't complain at all... it was a very nice night. One sad portion, as one of my patients had a sad situation going on... but sometimes you bond during that, and even in the sadness, it becomes a special time. She was very sweet, and I'm hoping to see her when I go back tonight.

Hmmm..... need a question... um, can anyone guess how many times we rode POTC? And would you believe me if I told you it was a BETTER version than the one at WDW?
7?? And how is it better? I think I did something bad while we were at WDW on POTC... I have my camera all the time, and I always read the signs to be sure we're allowed or not allowed to take pictures. I read every sign they've got as we got on the boat, and none said no pictures or flash photography, and as it was late at night and there were so few people riding, I took shots of the scenes. Not all of them, mind you, but a few - esp. where Jack was - and actually, I think someone else did, as well. When we got back, someone posted about pictures not being allowed (I think it was a mod, so I'm assuming they'd know better than I) and now I feel guilty that I have all these great pics from inside the ride!! :( Has anyone else done this?

Okay... now that the confession is out, I feel better... I think???

How has everyone's day been? Not too busy around here... must be the weather. It's cold, rainy and gray here - makes you want to tunnel under the covers with a good book and hide!

Actually, I do have a current need for shoes. Where should I go to find some?

I said in the other post that Pogo forgot me on his list of everybody. :( And that ElenitaB should go help blow up the Macy's balloons in 2 weeks. And something else, but I forget what....

people blow up those ballons? I had no idea. As to shoes..my goodness where to begin! Shoes work? Shoes fun? Shoes serious? Shoes expensive? Shoes cheap? Shoes not crocs I assume right?...for what occasion? I need details my dear!

People use machines to blow up those balloons...but ElenitaB has 7K posts...she could help.....;) (I love you Ellen!)

Shoes...lets see I have a pair of sneakers that should last a bit longer...

I have some Timberland boots that are dying a slow death....I need new of those...

I need shoes for work, that can handle the mile walking portion of my daily commute (yes, it IS uphill both ways. How, you ask?). This commute often involves snow, rain, or ice. AND the shoes need to look decent enough for a day with first graders, but rugged enough to get stepped on.

And I have crocs....not a huge fan....

Do you sell shoes for a living? How come I haven't seen photos of the shoes you mentioned in your trip reports?

Ok..last two first. Since my Alex nickname is Banker Babe I think we can clear that one up..and the no pics is due to my not going digital till after the trip!

Moving right along...why can you not change your shoes on arrival at work? There are two good reasons for this. First of all it's healthy to change your shoes regularly so that your feet don't learn "bad habits" from any one style of shoe. Secondly a shoe that works for work doesn't often work for ice/snow.

Have you considered looking into more boot style shoes? I'd try 9 west for some of them as they do a fairly good business in stylish yet still comfy. As for the at school part what about the current trend for ballet slippers? (also handy as they would be very lightweight if you needed to carry them).

Every girl should own the following:
Black heels (should be two pairs really one in a flat leather and one higher in a patent for evening wear).
Brown dress shoes (heel or boot)
Blue (see above and by this I mean navy)
either grey or tan depending on your other wadrobe choices...then at least one leather pair of flat summer shoes and the same kinda colour choices in summer wear (think open toe or strappy styles).

I think (on a guess don't hold me to it) at any given time I have about 30 pairs on the go...plus the emergency pairs at work..

Woooooooow....I need to go shoe shopping!!

I do/did have a kind of ballet sneaker shoe thingy the I've been wearing at work, but they are wearing out. One of my activities coming up in the next few weekends is to go through all my shoes and clothes. Dull, I know but my closet is full, and most of the clothes I don't even wear anymore. After that "inventory" activity, I'll get to go shopping! (Assuming I have money...)

So, what is everyone having for dinner? I think my husband is making chicken once he gets home.

I haven't been around the last couple days for no particular reason. I was home over the weekend to see my best friend Matt, who came home from his study program in London.

How has everybody been? I'd leave balloons for everybody, but I'm afraid I'll forget someone. Pogo didn't seem to mind leaving out Bethany and Deb. ;)

And why was I last?

Why do my posts always end up at the bottom of the previous page so no one ever sees them? :(
Don't worry, that always happens to me. I'll always look for your posts.

Does it have honeysuckle in it? :ack:That's the company name. Um, ew.

Don't you know that TREES grow in Brooklyn, not honeysuckle?I used to live in Brooklyn. Not big on trees. Most of the honeysuckle commutes from Long Island.

How's everyone's day going?Just got up. So far so good, I have some Twinings Price of Wales tea in a Tigger mug and some MNSSHP candy, watching Jack take over Christmastown on Encore.

Cause I have no musical skills whatsoever? You should try Guitar Hero

At the risk of offending EVERYONE .... I was wondering, if you throw a cat out a car window, does it become kitty litter? In the interest of science, I ran some sequential trials. First let me say that if one wishes to attempt this, it is best to use a stationary car. The subjects, in my experience, are more willing to take part in that type of experiment. From what I read into the intent of the question, however, It seemed that a moving vehicle was implied so that's what I did and found a convertible works best. Oh, in addition, I opted for nighttime trials for statutory reasons. The following report consists of three individual studies which represent each precentage of the reults.

Subject 1: Tinkles, 8 lbs - landed with much grace in the grass beyond the pavement... mostly. Ran from the area - no litter generated.
Subject 2: Mr Puffs , 11 lbs - smarter than previous subject, subject 2 opted to drop from the trial just prior to the first phase. Being somewhat larger than 11 lbs, I was able to convince the subject to proceed. As a result, subject 2 exited the control vehicle less gracefully and didn't quite make it to the grass. The very upset subject bounded from the test area - no litter generated.
Subject 3: Tippy, 16 lbs - Observation - heavy subjects don't travel as far as light ones but do accelerate more quickly. Also, when the subject is not intelligent enough to notice it's been flung from a speeding car, it has less time to prepare. Subject landed kind of hard and sort of rolled-bounced-ran from the test area - some biodegradable litter generated but nothing permanent.
Control Subject: Paw paw, 12 lbs - Mostly interested in the sunshine and wind generated by the movement of the vehicle, moderate nervousness was noted as more and more subjects underwent the experiment.

This help answer your question, Jenn?

Hmmm..... need a question... um, can anyone guess how many times we rode POTC? And would you believe me if I told you it was a BETTER version than the one at WDW?
I agree! I think its longer - and I like the beginning better. We go on it at least once or twice a day (or more) each day we are there!

I haven't been to DL in years, and DH and the boys haven't been at all. We're contemplating a West Coast holiday next summer....is 2 days enough at DL?
If you go midweek, maybe. We usually spend about 4-5 days between the 2 parks (1 day at CA and the rest at DL). Lines are shorter during the week. The last week before Labor Day is our favorite, as the lines are usually MUCH shorter.

I have no idea what this election is for. Does anybody know? Is it time for a new president...officially or realistically??
:funny::laughing: The kids want to know whats so funny....

Congratulations on 7K Ellen! (Boy I have alot of catching up to do.....).

I am working! I'm expanding my mind, researching human relationships, broadening my area of expertise by witnessing other people's experiences and using them to help my patients!! (Do you think he bought it???)

Mittens is about the same age, but not as heavy. He's a very spoiled individual, he doesn't want his water and food next to each other, his water has to be in a regular drinking glass(plastic) and his food has to be in a glass human bowl. Anyway, his water has to be on the vanity in the main washroom. There's been a few times when he jumps from the floor to the vanity and missed it all together. He usually goes from the toilet to the vanity. One day he did his usual way and fell into the sink(there's no jumping involved in that one). The other day he went to jump on the couch and missed it completely, we about died laughing at him. Do you think he needs glasses?

Hey Savvy!! :hi: Welcome to JQ!! Your poor little Zoey... I'd have been laughing too, though... Dan used to scare our "pre-Quincy" cat, Kramer, and he'd launch himself backwards... Dan always aimed for landing him in a plant...

Morning all!

It's better cause it's longer.. and there are a few hills to go down and 'splash'. The beginning is AWESOME! You travel thru a 'bayou'. And there is a skull and crossbones that talks to you. And a parrot greets you at the start.

My friend was taking photos and after snapping about 5 or 6 a voice came over the speaker saying "No flash photography please"... (or maybe one of the pirates said it?)

:shake:

I agree! I think its longer - and I like the beginning better. We go on it at least once or twice a day (or more) each day we are there!

We went on it twice on the first day, then I think we did it 4 times on the Saturday. We got pretty wet on a few of the splash downs!

Shhhh...while she was away for the w/e she always called me on the cell...and didn't realize I wasn't home :pirate:

If this board gets renamed to "Just shoes..." I'm outta here :walk: (and no, I don't know what kind of shoes he's wearing) Any of the other guys with me?

Oops.. sorry I might have given away your little secret!

:walk: Hmmm....they look like Reeboks to me...

Diane, it looked like you and Deb had a good time with Cap'n Jack even if he wasn't the best look-alike! Here's the Jack (http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2831019740027495723nGtuLh) we saw in the pirate tutorial.

I think I like your Jack better! Though the first Jack that we got in line for was quite the eye candy... we were just 3 people shy of meeting him...I think Deb got his picture.. I'll see if she did and try to post it.

: What's your opinion on sling backs? Can they be worn any season? A qualified yes...a sling back has a strap around the heel and if the construction and colour are seasonal I think it's fine. (in other words a closed toe for deep fall/winter and darker more solid colours, with perhaps a more firm heel vs something more "strappy" that might be better for spring/summer wear)

Now, will you guys just stop?? I'm starting to have "shoe anxiety" for meeting Natalie this weekend!! :paranoid: You are? I'm very stressed about that!

Isn't that a FABULOUS book?!!!

That's what I've heard. I haven't been to DL in years, and DH and the boys haven't been at all. We're contemplating a West Coast holiday next summer....is 2 days enough at DL?
Can you believe that I've never read it? Shame on me... born in Brooklyn, spent toddlerhood in Brooklyn, had and raising my one and only child in Brooklyn, and have never read the book.

We're thinking of doing a trip to the Left Coast next summer too. Maybe we should have a JQ meet there... when's Lynne going?

Ouch! Figaro just scratched me because I forgot to congratulate Ellen on her new big number.
Figaro, please don't scratch Mikki (or Andrew). :nono:

ElenitaB: Congrats on the 7,000! Maybe you can go help them blow up the Macy's balloons in 2 weeks.
What was it you wanted for breakfast? Do you really want sheets on your bed?

Woooooooow....I need to go shoe shopping!!

I do/did have a kind of ballet sneaker shoe thingy the I've been wearing at work, but they are wearing out. One of my activities coming up in the next few weekends is to go through all my shoes and clothes. Dull, I know but my closet is full, and most of the clothes I don't even wear anymore. After that "inventory" activity, I'll get to go shopping! (Assuming I have money...)
What size do you wear? I have all kinds of "work" shoes that I never wear anymore. Most of them are practically new.

Jym, as much as I love my cats, you had me laughing so hard here at work I was crying. My "big boy" Calvin tips the scales at 23 lbs... wanna give him a shot??
Sounds like shot put to me.

If you go midweek, maybe. We usually spend about 4-5 days between the 2 parks (1 day at CA and the rest at DL). Lines are shorter during the week. The last week before Labor Day is our favorite, as the lines are usually MUCH shorter.
That's exactly when I want to go, though the lure of getting in another trip with our APs may be stronger. The Wellness Community (a wonderful cancer peer-to-peer support organization that has helped me maintain whatever shred of sanity I have left) also has a great Labor Day party each year in Santa Monica and I'd love to go.

Poor DS is so sick this week. He has had a fever all weekend and a nasty cough. Gave up and went to the doc yesterday, strep was negative. It is some very NASTY viral ****. We have done Benadryl, Mucinex, tylenol, Motrin, nebs, humidifier..still he spiked a temp again tonight! We leave for the World Sat and I want him to be healthy...Any suggestions? Anyone have some cookies for me weary soul?
Would you like some echinecea cookies, with a side of Vitamin C? Glad to hear that he's feeling better.

My manager and I do that with the days of the week, however, even though today was "officially" Wonderful Wednesday, I kinda of was thinking more along the lines "Wring Someone's Neck Wednesday." :thedolls: Luckily, she concurred with me (my manager, that is). We ended up deciding it was "Where's Rita :marg: When You Need Her Wednesday."

Has winter hit anywhere else today? BRRRRR!

I'd like dark chocolate with peppermint, please.

We're thinking of doing a trip to the Left Coast next summer too. Maybe we should have a JQ meet there... when's Lynne going?

Ooohh! Yes! Of course then I would only be about 1,000 miles away..... Actually we will likely be even further west at that time - as we are thinking of Hawaii next summer.

Snow - did somebody say snow? I'm almost afraid to say this in this group, but here it goes....I LOVE SNOW!!! Course we don't get near enough around here, and when we get 3 inches the entire city comes to a standstill, but still...I LOVE SNOW!!! Besides, it beats gray skies and rain 6 months out of the year. So just send any extra our way, OK?

You are forgetting I saw Dan and Blythe in full costume last month...

I did a presentation at Harry's school today about Asperger's Syndrome -- I spent about an hour with the kids discussing it and Harry. We had such a fabulous response. I am really proud of all the kids, and of my Harry for being so poised. He thanked me for doing it afterwards "I think they will all understand me a little better, Mom!" That kid's all right! Has winter hit anywhere else today? BRRRRR!

Shhh, Jenn. It was a test!!:D I was trying to see if he would believe me!!! Do you think he'll wear it?

Way to go, Jenn. It's rally nice that Harry appreciated what you did for him!!! You're a great mom!!

Good evening JQ!

I seem to have run out of questions about shoes, so let's shift to a related topic: handbags. How many do you have? Does Natalie have a bag to match each pair of shoes? Is anyone in the market for a new one (I've got my eye on a Vera Bradley)? How long can we talk about handbags before Dan goes :bolt: ?

Wow... you're right... I can't believe a month ago I was still planning and packing. :( But... I guess that just means that it won't be THAT long until it's time to go back... time is sure to fly again... (I hope!!!)
You know what? I love snow, too!! (Good thing, living where I'm living...) But I have to admit, I love it when I'm inside and just watching it - the bigger the storm, the better - as long as I don't have to go out in it!! I don't even mind shoveling and cleaning it up... it's so peaceful and beautiful out after a good snow... :D

I have quite a few, I have to admit... maybe 10? But I only use one, usually, per season... the others I just can't seem to part with. I'm not truly a "purse person", as in I'll pay anything for a Coach or similar.... but I do admit to "having to have" a purse this summer at a Clarks outlet I went into in Freeport, ME. It was gorgeous... camel colored, the softest leather you can imagine, great pockets on the front that were magnetic closure... I just loved it, instantly. Well, seeing as the original price was $165 and it was marked down to $50 for clearance.... it is now home in my kitchen right now!! And I still love it! :D
And don't worry about Dan... between his mom, his aunt, his sister, his wife and his two girls, not to mention one of his closest friends who also has three girls and few living male relatives... he's immune to all this shoe and purse talk... he just tunes us all out, I think. ;)

Well, I'm sure most of you are headed off to bed, if not already there... it's not too bad here tonight, and I'm so glad this is my last one!! Phew!!

Nope no where near as many. (likely about 8-9 including two evening clutches). But I do have a brand I like (they are vegan and cdn.) called Matt & Nat (which of course is mostly due to the whole how funny is it to carry a handbag that has the names of you and your hubby on it?)

I do like some nine west things but haven't given in to the whole coach etc craze. Mind you I often carry a briefcase instead of my purse (and my purse spends a lot of time in manufacturing office etc that aren't always the best places for good bags)..and my trainee (who started a full time job of his own the other week) often got stuck with keys etc to avoid carring one. Ironic huh?

Now I hope everyone is looking forward to a good day today! I'll take a muffin & does anyone have some tea? I'm in the mood for a good cuppa today for some reason.

Ooooh...I have to go check out your report!

I love my Nesquik with hot milk! What is your favorite kind?

I love Swiss Miss with hot milk. I add a sprinkle of cinnamon and then a handful of mini marshmallows! I also like it with candy cane melted in.. but haven't bought any candy canes yet.

We're thinking of doing a trip to the Left Coast next summer too. Maybe we should have a JQ meet there... when's Lynne going?

Oh, I got y'all some nice rugelach at Costco tonight. Enjoy! See you tomorrow evening (or maybe not until Friday).

Yeah, I see how all of you are! Plan the Left Coast trip for AFTER my trip and add a JQ meet to the mix! Will I EVER get to meet any of you? I do hope you get to go! It is so magical and wonderful out there! Definitly Walt's park!

Thanks for the rugelach! It hit the spot! Hope you are well! Hurry back!

Can you believe it was just this time last week that I was in the air and on my way to Disneyland? Can't we turn the clocks back a week?

What a great bargain! Do you know who makes it? I can never pass up a handbag, any style! Lately I've taken to larger totes so I can have all my things in one place. When I was in school I used a messenger bag for books, etc. and another smaller purse, plus a lunch bag. It was way too much to carry around. I'm looking at a VB tote that will carry my planner, padfolio, and anything else I need for work, wallet, cell phone, a Diet Coke, and some snacks! I bought a Coach bag at the Niagara Falls outlet with my very first full time job paycheck, and then my dog chewed it :fit:

Hahaha, I love that the brand name matches you and hubby! There used to be a girls clothing catalogue called "Just Nikki" and my mom thought it would be funny to order everything with the moniker on it for me. I love Nine West shoes, but somehow I haven't taken as nicely to their bags.

Who's excited for the weekend???
:here: :here: I am, I am!! Or, let's make that I will be... once I get out of this funk I'm in. I have to admit to being very cranky this afternoon, which after having done 2 weeks where I've worked 3 nights in a row, I'm deciding is the natural thing that happens following those 3 nights. :pout: Oh well - I just won't put myself on like that too many times... I hate feeling cranky!!

I was trying to catch up on my sleep a little today, so I set my alarm for about 5 minutes before the girls got home... well, of course, they got home 5 minutes before my alarm, so I woke to the sound of them pounding on the front door - not a good beginning!! No caffeine yet, sleepy, hyper and loud crazy little girls -- all at once. Ugh. :( Poor things... I'll have to make it up to them later. (Oh - and then I had to help w/ homework... once again, the caffeine had barely hit the blood stream... I'm not sure I was much help, even though all we were adding was 5 pennies to 3 nickels... ... anyone want to come check their homework???)

So - now that you all know where I'm at today -- how's everyone else's Thursday finishing up?? Anyone else excited it's almost Friday??

else's[/U] Thursday finishing up?? Anyone else excited it's almost Friday??

the answer should be either 20 or 8! I know just how you feel (as DH works nights but will soon stop) you'd be amazed at some of the stuff that happens due to this shift..like homework not being done cause he thought he did but it was yesterday..total lack of what day it is..it's all so much fun.

I hope your coffee kicks in & you have some fun. What's for dinner everyone?

Geesh, I live a boring life and need JQ to keep me occupied and everyone leaves. What is this world coming to?
Seriously! Write a formal complaint to DDTMS (Drummerboy's Discount Thread Maintenance Service) in triplicate and see what response you get!

Or, keeping with the double-B theme, Burp Babe. :D What do you think of that one?

OK, so I think the "There were muffins!" exclamation was really supposed to be a question, but you ended it with an exclamation mark, so I have no choice. :nono: ;)
:funny: Though I think there might be competition for that name. (It's due to the hiatal hernia, right, Blythe?)

And the :nono: is accepted. My bad.

Cindy, was this week better than last?

Deb, hope you're feeling better. on its way along with some chocolate!

Have a good morning, everyone!

Happy Birthday Blythe. Will you need some help getting to the table for your cake? :thedolls:

Did I hear mention of Drummerboy Discount brands? We have a special this week on nail coverings--For outdoor use, we have the zinc coating and for decorative use, we have a nice brass finish. Or were we talking about a different kind of nail?

I just discovered a new 3 Musketeer Bar - it's MINT! Tastes like a York Peppermint Patty!

YUM! I love rotisserie chicken! Got any left overs I can have for my lunch?

Ok, what kind of hair color do you wish to talk about? With a certain person turning 40 are you trying to insinuate that she needs to cover some grey?

Good luck with that! Make sure you take plenty of rope, duct tape and a bull whip or two...

:party:HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLYTHE! The big 40! Wow! All those candles sure do put off quite a bit of heat! Hey! I have some chocolate marshmallows! Anyone want to roast a few over her birthday cake before she blows those babies out?

Okay - lots to answer, here goes -
1 - Yummm!! I'm going to have to go looking for that....
2 - Yup... sending it right over...
3 - Even a :pirate: knows when to not say anything...
4 - Got 'em packed...
5 - (Sounds good, though....)

Happy birthday, Blythe!
Happy birthday, Bethany!

Hope you both have wonderful birthdays, and wonderful years!
Have a good morning, everyone!

Thanks Ellen!! I hope you're having a good morning, too!

Nope, Ken, I think I manage getting to that cake all by myself... years & years of practice... Thanks for the offer, though! :D

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Happy Birthday Blythe!!!

I'll be in Ithaca this weekend with about 300 rowdy college students at a conference. I could think of a few places I'd rather be, but trying to look on the bright side.

oh shoot, question... um, what's the name of his other leg?

1 - Yummm!! I'm going to have to go looking for that....

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Well, how about I pick a Mint 3 Musketeer bar up for you? With all the talk about rotisserie chicken I'm gonna make a lunch run to Biggs to get their rotisserie chicken lunch ($3.99 for a breast and thigh, and mac and cheese and a roll!) So I'll just grab a candy bar for everyone to try! Ok?

This weekend I'll be going to the local Christian bookstore to talk to the manager about working on weekends for him. I really need to find a weekend job to try to get out from under some of our debt. If we can't get it paid down then there will be no special trip next November for our 15 year anniversary :(. I'm also hoping to get my house cleaned up.. anyone wanna help?

That's too funny - I was just watching Mary Poppins last night. DH bought me the dvd for my birthday and that was the first chance I got to sit down to watch it! I love that movie!

Speaking of Mary Poppins... where is Christine? :search:

Good luck tomorrow - I hope you get the position you want!!

As far as housecleaning, I'd offer to help, but I'm trying to dig out here myself. I just finished putting the playroom back together (had to re-arrange a few things for winter) and now I'm working on the basement, laundry and dishes. Why is it basements just fill-up with "stuff" so easily?? Sigh...

As far as Christine goes, maybe she went shopping?? For a week? Maybe if we mention a shopping excursion for the JQ crew, she'll come around.... :shop: :spend: :shop:

At least you have a basement to fill up. All our extra 'stuff' ends up in the back bedroom. Right now it's looking pretty bad... but I can't get DH to get rid of anything. He's such a pack rat!

Hmmm.... so instead of yelling cookies we should try yelling shopping? Ok, I'll try it...

SHOPPING!!!!!!

There - did that bring Christine out of hiding?

I love Thai food...any left?
Sounds like a plan sister....I hope this drizzly dreariness clears up before tomorrow! I don't want Nat to muck up her shoes! ;)

I can make a mean Pad Thai. I can't cook, but I took a cooking class and learned to make pad thai and a few other thai foods.

Maube Pogo and Brian can carry her. I think the forecast a little chance.

Last week at this time I was getting ready for my breakfast date with Stitch. *sigh* Can someone please make the time go back 1 week?

Your mood seems to be contagious... What kind of chocolate do you want? I just discovered a new 3 Musketeer Bar - it's MINT! Tastes like a York Peppermint Patty! :cloud9:
Won't there be enough guys there to carry Nat thru the muck and mire to keep her shoes pretty? :D

No, Diane, please don't turn back the clock...my trip is in 3 weeks!!

ohhh, that 3 Musketeer bar sounds yummy!!!!

I know I said Brian and Pogo could carry her, Gilles might even help, but I'm not sure about Dan...he might push her into a mud puddle!!

I'll help you if you'll help me. As soon as I finish what I'm working on right now (in a matter of speaking as I'm taking an ICOT break), I'm going to work on Ben's room. And tomorrow morning I'll work on the living room because  the NY Times is coming to do a photo shoot on Monday. I'm panicked because my apartment is reality-show worthy. Lord help me!

I made cookies (really). Anyone want some? And I'll be making cupcakes tomorrow or tonight for Bethany for her bday. Do you want vanilla or strawberry frosting on yours?

Mmmm.... I love pad thai... I mean I really, really love it!! I've made the "boxed" version, but never the real deal... I'll bet it's awesome. Do you put peanuts in yours??

As far as the whole "treasure" thing in the basement?? I wish... If treasure consists of too many boxes, more than too many decorations, WAY more than too many toys in storage and sporting gear out the wazoo... well, then treasure it is, I suppose. If only I could find some gold coins in there.... none have fallen out in the dryer yet....

DH took me to dinner for Italian - YUM!. Since we are not huge eaters, we split a meal - and saved room for wine! We never did have dessert, as we were comfortably full. For my Bday, DH gave me tickets to Billy Joel, who comes to town Thanksgiving weekend. He is my all time favorite (I know, it shows my age, but oh well). So I have another great evening to look forward to - dinner and great music!

Hope everyone is enjoying themselves this weekend. Sounds like the meet was great... can't wait to see pics.

Okay, I can't believe I'm only the second person on here today from the meet! Wow... I guess we tired each other out. :walk: We just got back around 12:30... spent the night @ Dan's mom's house in Buffalo, had a lazy morning and drove back full of her yummy french toast & sausages. Mmmm.

Can I just say what a pleasure it was getting together with everyone? Seeing Jenn, Brian & the boys again was terrific, as was meeting Pogo, Carol & Natalie for the first time. They're all just as nice as you think they are!! (And yes, Natalie wore cool boots! :)) Having met Jen & Brian and their boys in Florida, we were already looking forward to seeing them again - they're awesome, and their boys are just way too cute. Our girls loved them. Pogo's DW Patti is sweet, Carol's DH Gilles is charming and Natalie's DS William is adorable. (Although I don't think he'd appreciate being called that - but he really is a great kid.)

A BIG thank you goes out to Jenn & Carol - Jenn brought me the "motherload" of Aero Bars, and Carol also brought me an adorable b'day present that also had Aero bars involved... guess I made it clear how much I (now translated "we") love them! Jenn also brought us all amazing Mickey scrapbooking frames, and Carol made us the coolest goodie bags -- we're still enjoying what was in them!

Another big thank you to Pogo -- although I'm not sure I really want to post the picture that goes along w/ this, he and his partner in crime (a.k.a. Brian - just edited that...) surprised me with a b'day dessert and the prescribed celebratory celebration that comes w/ eating at Montana's steakhouse... you'll just have too look at the pics to see what I'm talking about. :D

A great time was had by all - it was chilly, and the falls soaked us, but it was fun, too -- can't wait to meet up again!

Okay - sorry - now that I've totally "captured" the thread w/ all this "meet" info... back to regularly scheduled programming... :blah:

(Pics below....)

I'm not a scrapbooker...but I would love to take part if it meant hanging with you bunch...

Is anyone bringing the cookies to the meet?????
Anytime you want to scrapbook Jenn, just let me know... my girlfriends and I actually book a hotel room once in awhile and just go at it for a day or two... we've done it in Rochester, but we could certainly do it in Buffalo...

And, yes... now you know who the cookie bringer was... hope you enjoyed them!

Thanks SO much for the frame!!! I can't wait to use it!!

(PS - are you missing a blow-up floatie???)

I have never found the time to scrapbook. I tried it once - loved it - but really need to have the time to devote. I guess if I gave up part of my 6 hours alotted to sleep, I could squeeze it in! :D My DD Loves to scrapbook. In fact, for our 20th wedding anniversay, she and my middle DD made an entire album for us as a surprise, with pictures from the entire 20 years! (Grandma helped in supplying the pics).

Carol) surprised me with a b'day dessert and the prescribed celebratory celebration that comes w/ eating at Montana's steakhouse... you'll just have too look at the pics to see what I'm talking about. :D

Anytime you want to scrapbook Jenn, just let me know... my girlfriends and I actually book a hotel room once in awhile and just go at it for a day or two... we've done it in Rochester, but we could certainly do it in Buffalo...

Thanks SO much for the frame!!! I can't wait to use it!!

Nope... but I guess we all know who the ones are that could help fill up those Macy's Day Parade balloons.... ... I'm guessing it's all the ones that were missing.... oooops.... did I just say that aloud????

Carol, it was great meeting you guys, too!! What time did you get home?

It really was great meeting everyone and I can't wait to see everyone again!!!

Blythe, you and your family are so sweet and wonderful. It was a great pleasure meeting all of you.

I want to also thank Jenn and Brian for the scrapbooking frame. It's going to be filled with pictures from the meet. Blythe and Jenn you'll have to email me your copy of the pictures you took. Just a note here..while we were at the Falls, Jenn was trying to get a picture of all of us, when some kind gentleman came along and volunteered to take one with all of us, including her!! Here are my pictures (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2773393700093439642fgHnoE). Your cookies were great. I had to hide them from Gilles!!! It was really fun putting together your goodie bags. I liked William who thought the Puppy Chow was dog food!! Natalie, he is so sweet!!

I brought my belly dance hip scarf and did a few shimmies for Pogo!!! We are looking forward to getting together again in the spring when it's MUCH warmer.

On the way home Gilles said he really enjoyed meeting everyone. I was a little worried, because I'm the Disney fan and he goes along with me. He was so nervous before we all met.

Um, Blythe, it wasn't really me who did that..I maybe, well, might have reminded Pogo, but it was Pogo and Brian who did it.:secret:

Can I come and scrapbook with you also? You know I have some cool toys!! After Natalie saw the shoes, she knows I do too!!

You know what's really funny, Blythe, I was thinking it was us that does all the talking also!!

We got home around 9:45-10ish. Gilles took a wrong turn so we had to get turned around then my car needed gas. I think I had the heat cranked up as high as it could go!!!

The pictures are wonderful!!! I have to say that Pogo and Carol look exactly like I pictured them!! Nat - I pictured your hair lighter, but still close. Its weird how you get a picture in your mind, just from reading posts! I loved the pictures - and I have never been to the falls, so that was a bonus! Sure wish I could have joined you!

So did anyone save any of the cookies from the meet?

I'm glad I looked like what you thought I did!!!

Um, I have cookies left...I forgot that I hid them from Gilles!!!

Who wants something from WDW when I go?

Hello friends! Happy Sunday! We got home by about 10 -- and Harry won his 7am game today -- so all is well!

What a pleasure it was to spend yesterday with so many of you! And yes, though we were VERY VERY VERY wet, and chilled through ..... I think it would be safe to say a good time was had by all! Thank you all for making it such a special day! I will post the pictures once my manservant has finished uploading them -- I love the pictures of Blythe in her antlers! Very Canadian, eh?

What will we do next weekend? :D

Was that the meet in NY? A little too far from NC for me. How's things in Texas?

Yep, that was the one. Things in Texas are OK. How about NC? Sorry that I didn't respond last night. It was so quiet that I went to bed! :sleepin:

Cool pics of the meet, by the way! Looks like everyone had a blast!

Hello all!

Just have a minute on the hotel's computer...I had to let you all know that Olivia's soccer team swept the whole :soccer: tournament!!! :hooray:

Rhonda, sorry I didn't get to call ya...with my parents and sister here, plus Olivia wanting to stay glued to the hips of her teammates all day, it's been crazy!

I haven't gotten hardly any shopping done
:( ...how can this be possible?

:congrats: Olivia! No problem about yesterday. I totally forgot that Robert had a seminar and I ended up with a lot more errands than I thought I'd have. Hope you've caught up on the shopping today!

What, all those photos and not a one of Nat's shoes? Come on people, what were you thinking?

Sounds and looks like a wonderful time was had by all. Here I always pictured Nat as blond, about six inches tall, and carrying a wand. Can't figure where I got that idea.

So, at the restaurant, was it Pogo or was it Tom?

Christine, glad you reported in. You were missed. Congratulations to Olivia and team.

I loved the pictures - and I have never been to the falls, so that was a bonus! Sure wish I could have joined you!

My DD Loves to scrapbook. In fact, for our 20th wedding anniversay, she and my middle DD made an entire album for us as a surprise, with pictures from the entire 20 years! (Grandma helped in supplying the pics). It was awesome!!!

So did anyone save any of the cookies from the meet?
I'm glad you liked the pics! Next time, okay??

That's so sweet what your DD's did for you and you DH!! Wow!! You've got great girls, you know that???

Sending some cookies your way... I did make a few for our ride home, too... Would you like triple chocolate, m&m, cranberry oatmeal or white choc. strawberry??

Ooooops... I stand corrected. So, I'll be sure to send Brian a big thank you, too!! Now, about those antlers....

You're more than welcoe to join the scrapbooking - I'm going to have to find out about that Silhoutte program you talked about! Those designs you made were awesome.

Congrats on Harry's game!! That's awesome -- were you very tired? I think we woke up at 7:40....

Can you believe how wet we all got? That was ridiculous!! I had to peel off the girls shoes and socks and roll up their pants... we cranked the heat and got their scarves out of the back to dry their hair!! Emma kept talking about all the "rain"....

I never thought about the "Canadian-esque" part of the antlers... should've ordered myself a big, tall Canadian beer to go with 'em!! Now that would've been a picture!! (Where's a moose smilie when you need one???)

Get after that manservant of yours, Jenn... I'm dying to see your pictures!! (Hi Brian! :hi:)

As far as next weekend.... I wish.... wouldn't it be nice??

Cool pics of the meet, by the way! Looks like everyone had a blast!

Sorry.... totally missed the whole shoe thing... picture black spike heeled leather boots... and she walked the whole way w/o complaining once!! I'd have needed a :medic:

So - when are you going to have a meet? I'd love a reason to swing by NC....

And no matter how hard I tried, it was Pogo... I kept trying to call him Tom, but it just didn't work!

Funny story... when we were all chatting right after we'd all arrived, my DD9 (Julia) got a little shy w/ Jenn and I couldn't figure out why. When I asked her, she said she was having trouble figuring out "who was who -- what's their Intercot name??" (She likes to read over my shoulder once in awhile on here -- her favorite name, BTW, is a girl who's sometimes on the WC threads - "Tinkerbellybutton" - she loves that name!!) Anyway - once I went through and told her everyone's screen name with their real name, she felt much better, and said, "Now I feel like I know who they are!!" :)

How's everyone's Sunday ending up? We're grilling and relaxing... I just spent the last 3 hours cleaning/tidying the basement, and I have to say, I did a good job!! You can actually see the floor in most spots now!! Dan went into the office for the afternoon, and I don't know what is is about men and their basements, but I think he offered me some jewelry when he got home!! (Right, hon?)

Hope everyone's having a good evening -- anyone off tomorrow?

You had a towel??? Lucky!! We were drying off with our seat cushions.... :D And I gave the antlers back... we have our own in the basement, fully attached to "Herman", our resident buck who belonged to Dan's Grandpa.... haven't quite found the appropriate spot to hang him yet, though, cute as he is...

Haven't you guys ever heard of Gortex?? Obviously not from the Pacific Northwest - where it is wet half the year! :D

I love the pictures of Blythe in her antlers! Very Canadian, eh?

Now, about those antlers....
Maybe I'm lucky I didn't make it to the meet. I could have been "adorned" with antlers as well - now THAT would have been a birthday to remember! Blythe, we would have made quite a pair!

And no matter how hard I tried, it was Pogo... I kept trying to call him Tom, but it just didn't work!

Yep, he's Pogo to me. Somehow he just doesn't "look" like Tom - he looks like Pogo!

We had an umbrella, it just got left in the trunk of the car, if memory serves me right, I think Pogo said his were in his trunk also. The Falls makes its own weather, so when we left home it wasn't bad, it was just while we were there!!

Blythe, weren't you going to make a special picture for T & G?

Speaking of Pogo, where is he today? Did he get worn out like Gilles and me?

:pixie: for you, Deb. Get plenty of sleep and hopefully you'll feel better soon.

BTW, we did have that drink for all of you that couldn't be there. We missed you all.

Sigh.... NOW you mention Gortex.... I'd dressed us all and planned for rain & snow.... but you know, the slow, soft falling kind!! Not the instant deluge that the Falls seems to give off!! I swear, we were as wet in 2 or 3 minutes as you'd get in an hour in the rain!

Somehow, I can just picture you in those antlers... very becoming they would have been, too, I think!! :D

Good morning all......... and Happy Monday ! Are you ready for it ?

We had a great time on Saturday at the Falls and yes, we got a little wet. Who's idea was it to meet at Table Rock anyways ?

It was great being with everyone and the kids were well behaved, which shows how well their parents have brought them up to this point.

It is always our pleasure to be with Harry and Euan, but we really loved meeting Julia and Emma. They are two smart, polite and beautiful little girls. Natalie has done a great job with her son as well.... they act more like good friends, than Mother and Son.

No snow.... but a lot of heavy frost.

I do want to say that it was my idea, Blythe, not Carols. But after I told the waitress, I found out Brian had told her as well. Great minds think a lot. As for your photo shop issue, maybe Christine could lend her DH to the project. What do you think Christine ? Wnat to volunteer John for a minute of two ?

So what are you doing for lunch today? Bethany and I might go to the original Nathan's down at the Coney Island Boardwalk. Anyone want a hot dog?

Hmmm.. my weekend? I spent it shopping for a new clothes dryer (my old one died Friday night) and hunting for a weekend job. :(

You were missed, Alex... next time, maybe we'll head your way. (But hopefully not in snow coat weather!)

Yup, we saw snow, but only in piles on the side of the Thruway in Rochester, nowhere else. Nothing here yet -- and I'm hoping it stays that way for awhile. As much as I love snow, living in Cicero for the last 5 years gave me more than my share -- and living here for the year w/o a garage makes me appreciate having one!! :(

It was great being with everyone and the kids were well behaved, which shows how well their parents have brought them up to this point.

Thanks! Our girls really enjoyed meeting you, as well... Julia told me that night that because you were "Tom", she was "Jerry"... and then she cracked herself up, b/c she remembered you wore a gray coat and had a hood... and then she'd wished you'd had white gloves and boots, b/c you'd have been a "perfect Tom"!!! Too funny... thanks for being so fun w/ the kids... they really enjoyed you and your wife. She's so sweet - we're looking forward to getting to know you guys better!

I have today off, but then I don't usually work Monday nights if I can avoid it... but my girls have it off, too -- so I guess the real question is - do I REALLY have today off???

As far as the coffee and cookies, I had to laugh... that's just what I'm sitting here eating and drinking!! I couldn't resist... the cookies were in a bag right next to the coffee pot... begging to be eaten... I just HAD to bring them up here with me!!

As far as the cold, I slept in today, so hopefully that helped... I feel the same, but I'm hoping if we lay low and relax here at home, I can nip it in the bud. Might even make some of that chicken soup Deb was talking about!

As I've never been over there, I'm not familiar at all with the areas - but I've had friends that lived close to London, in SevenOaks, Kent and another friend that lived up in Liverpool (which I thought was cool, as I grew up in Liverpool, NY)... and I've always wanted to see Cornwall.... and the Thames... sigh... I could go on....:)

A marvelous Monday to all! Anyone have off today (besides Bethany)? I have work and Ben has school today, so no time off to remember or commemorate here.

I could have been off today but I am working so I can use a 'floating' holiday over Christmas. Being a new employee I don't have much vacation time built up yet!

Who wants some cookies? My Girl Scouts order came in yesterday!

Is it Monday today?

Glad to see so many of you having fun at a meet at the weekend. Anyone want to do a meet in the UK? :(

Yep, today is definitly a Monday. And I would LOVE to do a meet in the UK!!! Could we tour Buckingham Palace? Could you arrange for us to meet Prince William? I bet Alex, Pogo and Ken could get one of those Palace Guards to laugh! Or heck, if we all stood around them and played our "Just Question" game I bet we'd all have them laughing until they cried!

Good luck on your interview -- sending some :magic: your way!!

Thanks for the luck wishes! I really don't WANT to have to work on weekends.. but it's come to the point where it's either that or we have unpaid bills... this job would be in a Christian bookstore so if I can get on it would be perfect for me!

Who wants some cookies? My Girl Scouts order came in yesterday!

Can you believe I hate Thin Mints? I honestly don't like them. My all time favorites are Peanutbutter Patties, followed by whatever incantation of lemon cookie they have that year, and short breads.

Nat - I pictured your hair lighter, but still close. Its weird how you get a picture in your mind, just from reading posts!
If it makes you feel at all better..my hair in naturally about 3-5 shades lighter then what you see on the pics as I darken it quite a bit via the good old help of a hairdresser. (might be even more come to think of it)

It really was great meeting everyone and I can't wait to see everyone again!!! I liked William who thought the Puppy Chow was dog food!! Natalie, he is so sweet!!Can I come and scrapbook with you also? You know I have some cool toys!! After Natalie saw the shoes, she knows I do too!!

I'm glad I looked like what you thought I did!!!

Um, I have cookies left...I forgot that I hid them from Gilles!!!
I have some for this afternoon with William too. And I think William leaped to that as he knows you guys know about our doggie...And you'll be glad to know Carol I have already set aside my wee giftie to go on my christmas tree. It was fantastic to meet everyone as well. And don't worry I was nervous too as I had never met anyone from here before.

What will we do next weekend? :D Well I suspect I'll be home before 1am next time! Did you guys all see deer? I had one that was all over the place  on the 401 and one that ran in front of me on old hwy 3...I was mighty glad to get home. But had such a wonderful time!

Bylthe your girls (and of course Dan as well) were a pleasure to get to know (as was your gang Jenn!!) William really had fun (and when a 12 year old has fun hanging out with him mom that has to be a good day).

Pogo your almost as sweet as Patti is! And it was so much fun to meet all of you. Thanks for including me!

What, all those photos and not a one of Nat's shoes? Come on people, what were you thinking? Here I always pictured Nat as blond, about six inches tall, and carrying a wand. Can't figure where I got that idea. A banker with a wand? So your a lawyer with drum sticks?

Happy Monday everybody. Looks like you had a great time on Saturday. I am not used to seeing most of you in heavy coats.

Anybody up here in the North see any snow Saturday morning?
No snow here..and I didn't see any on my way home.

Congrats to Olivia Christine that sounds like it was a lot of fun as well. I'm not in for long as it's a holiday for me today. Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Would I ask you to do something that would get you into trouble ? Never !:fingers:

Glad to see so many of you having fun at a meet at the weekend. Anyone want to do a meet in the UK?

I do Dutchess ! How many guest rooms do you have in your mansion ? Or do you live in a castle ? :D

OK.......... you can tell her I said she can be Jerry !

Do you know Blythe when you mentioned cornwall earlier for some bizzare reason I thought you wanted an Eastern Ontario meet. Couldn't figure out for the life of me which one of us lives near Cornwall Ontario.

And Pogo thanks for the compliment re William. He's used to hanging with Mom since my hubby works shifts. I guess it shows more then I thought. Speaking of him I'd better go pick him up. (I get to play Mom today since it's a holiday for me. Should we make cookies?)

Mikki could you see that fire from where you are today? It looked awful. Hope you and yours are ok. And Di best of luck on the interview.

(I get to play Mom today since it's a holiday for me. Should we make cookies?)

We did!! And we're trying to save some for Dan... not an easy task!!

Hope you're all having a good Monday - ours has been nice... very quiet, but got lots done around here, had fun w/ the girls... and it feels like it's been sort-of a "pirate" day, as they put in "POC : DMC" earlier, and it played twice through as "background noise" as we all worked and played! Later, I switched it over to "POC : Curse..." and that's just finishing... not that we've really sat down and watched then or anything!! Kind of scarey when you know exactly what's going on and can quote it right along w/ the movie... and you're in another room!! What can I say... we love 'em!! :pirate:

Okay - gotta run and start dinner, Em's got soccer tonight. See you all later!

World famous Internet cheese up for auction

LONDON (Reuters) - Wedginald, the cheddar cheese that has become a star of the Internet as it matures live on screen, is up for auction with the proceeds going to charity.

The 44 pound cheese that has attracted 1.65 million viewer hits on cheddarvision tv since it first went on the web late last year has nearly completed its 12-month maturation and will be ready to eat by Christmas, the owners said.

"As a fitting end to the first year of Cheddarvision we at West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers are going to auction Wedginald to the highest bidder and donate all the proceeds to BBC Children in Need," they wrote on the website.

Cheese lovers can get not just a slice of the action but the whole lot by placing their bids on ebay before November 19.

I want the Jamie at Home book if they will ever publish it over here!!!!

Anyone have any of Blythe's cookies left? Can I tell you that our gluttonny dog, Rory, polished off some????? (He did enjoy them though :D)

That's too funny! I'm not enjoying the new Jamie's chef thing at all are you?

As to DL I just don't know. Every time DH & I price out anything but WDW he converts it into days at WDW. (and then complains because we go nowhere else until we discuss something else and then has me book a trip to WDW).

I had wanted to do PEI this summer but he wants WDW again instead..same thing happened with a cruise we wanted to do. It's too funny!

So when are we having the southern beach meet?

Are you going to have it at Mrytle beach? Cause then no one would say I have an accent. Though I'm still wondering how Pogo, Dan & Bylthe came to the conclusion that I have an accent when I'm in Canada...must be because my phone kept thinking i was in the USA.

Sounds like fun. I don't think we will try for that one. (Unless our Loonie takes flight in a major way) One long drive for a meet for now is good enough I think.

So what's the lunch plan around here? I have a lonely sandwich & am hopeing some one is eating something fun so I can live vicarously. (Except of course Jenn's leftover breakkie soup)

Good luck at the Dr. office today. You know - they do say that getting old is not for the weak! Hope all goes well!

Which southern beach do you wanna meet at? And what's wrong with having a meet in Gatlinburg at the Pancake Pantry?

Lunch for me was a ham, swiss, lettuce, tomato on rye sandwich, with a peach yogurt and fritos corn chips. Now I'm eating two mini hershey bars. So sorry, don't think my lunch will be much of vicarous living eh?

I get to leave at 2:15 today... gotta go to the doctor myself (yearly female appt. ugh!)...job interview yesterday - not sure... had to take a 'personality/attitude test'... tons of questions.. some the same but worded different, alot of 'trick' type questions... the manager also had me 'role play' I had to pretend he was a customer and 'assist' him. Then he gave me a mechanical pencil and told me to sell it to him. I pointed out the feature that you could keep hitting the tip to make the point come out further and then you could use it to stab your friends... the manager looked at me and said "stab your friends? that's one feature I've never heard." Not sure if that was a good thing or not? :D

Di did you really say that or are you just checking to see if we read this? Wouldn't you won't need a sharpener been a better idea? Or perhaps the consistent size makes finding it in your jar of pencils so much easier?

We only use this style of interviewing (not so much the role play part at my level but at others) so you may want to practice some with someone if your doing a lot of interviewing.

Yes, I really did say that (and it is nice to know that someone really does read what I post :D). I'm not good at role play... I can't think that fast. We were in the middle of the mall so people were walking by looking at us...

This manager had been bugging me about applying (I"m in there almost every week) so we 'know' each other (he even said he know me well enough that he didn't have to ask me the 3 pages worth of questions he normally asks)... I don't know... I NEED a second job, but don't really want one... know what I mean? There's really no other place I can get hired on at as I have certain hours I'm able to work and can not go outside of those hours. Most places won't work with you like that. This place is willing to. The Manager know that I know the product (books) he knows I'm a reader.. so we'll see. I really think it's gonna be based on the personality test more than anything.. that seems to be a company wide thing they do to weed people out.

Ken, how did it go with the eye doc? Please let us know.

You too Ellen ?
I thought it was sweet that they wanted to name a beloved pet after you.

Only if I can hitch a ride with Rhonda. Its not a short drive for me (approx 4 hours, depending on what part of SA you want to meet at!)
Four hours driving is a lot closer than four hours flying. I'd love to visit the River Walk one of these days.

I'm having a turkey burger for lunch today and "Tuscan Soup" (zucchini and eggplant with tomatoes and spices in chicken broth). Nice and warm on a cool day. Anyone want some? I can grate some Parmesan on top if you'd like.

Flights to Myrtle Beach from JFK: 12 a day. Flights to Gatlinburg: 0. :(

Whoops. Threw in too much salt into the soup at the last minute. I don't have any fresh potatoes on had. Do you think frozen fries will work?

What's PEI?:

Apparently the soup isn't ready yet..and yeah a frozen fry or two is worth a try.

PEI is a where..Prince Edward Island (Kinda Canada's answer to Maine but with ironically enough potatoes instead of blueberries).

Home of Anne of Green Gables, red beaches, lots and lots of golf. We used to summer there all the time when I was a kidling.

Sorry Di the whole Gatlinburg thing sounds too far to drive for me as well. Perhaps a WDW meet?

As to the second job thing good luck. Have you already worked with a financial planner to refine your budget and do the tax implications? Many people do find a second income to create tax headaches they don't think of so make sure you look into this as well.

Also I know your Church is so important to you.. but do you have time afterwards? Many real estate agents hire "associates" for manning the open houses around here. Might be something to look into.

Thanks for the tax tip! I did go thru that one time in the past so I was already planning to have extra taken from my check for taxes!

Di..the real "prep" time is so much less then you think. First of all it works best without "chopping" the veg to much (and you don't need to peel them just a good scrub).

So to try it yourself (and this can be done whilst you do other stuff trust me).

2-3lbs chicken bones (leftover roast carcasses that were carved are fine here by the way) including the necks etc that one often sees at the supermarket for next to nothing. If you want meat in it and not just broth adjust accordingly as you'll need far less.
2-3 onions halved (no need to peel just hack off stem & root end)
same amount of carrots and celery chunked in 2-3 inch lengths.

Leeks are nice as is parsley stems a few peppercorns about 1-2 tbls salt

Cover in large stock pot or dutchoven with cold water..bring to simmer and skim occasionally. Simmer for a min. of 1.5 hour or longer if you'd like it more concentrated. Strain & discard all (unless you were using a whole chicken)

You can do this in your crockpot as well so that it makes stock for you while your sleeping.

Likely as we wouldn't have known he was even coming out with one? Our food network shows are behind the USA ones here so we get them Thirdhand I guess? Don't know for sure but it does seem to take a long time. (For instance I often end up with a UK version of Nigella's stuff as it takes forever to be converted into imperial weights/measures & temps so I have to convert it all myself. Makes the baking interesting!)

Not allowed pepper spray? How about moose spray? or bear spray? Hmmm.. you could even use a tiny purse sized bottle of perfume or hair spray - any of that would cause one's eyes to sting.

You can keep thinking... you are coming up with good ideas/suggestions.. they just don't work for me and my situation. And what do you mean I'm not good at developing product potential? :D I thought it was a good thing when a company can come up with an unique slant on their product.. isn't it?

I'll have to surf the net to see if there is moose spray out there....

I did gift wrapping at our mall the first year they offered it... but now it's all church groups/youth groups etc... who wrap for donations to their group/organization. So that won't work. As to the babysitting.. another awesome idea as I used to babysit when I was younger.. BUT... the majority of my church is 'old' people. And the few that have 'kids'.. well, I'll just say they are not the kind that anyone would want to have to babysit (it would take an above average pay - with an added hazard duty pay!) I might contact the temporary agency I've used in the past and see if they have any weekend positions. They've always been good to me.

I generally make it from birds we have eaten -- and I throw the skin and bones and gunk in -- and if it's still a simmering afterwards, I toss the gravy in too. I also add bay leaves. You should try it Di -- It really is a no effort!

I once saw a Moose spray -- It was a Bull and lets just say -- GROSS!
Okay - from another stock "buyer" - birds? Skin?? Bones??? Gunk???? (should that even be capitalized?) You guys really don't make it sound very appetizing -- easy, yes -- edible? Not so much.... :D The bay leaves sound good, though...

And as far as that Moose spray... :ack:  ... you won't catch me near those antlers again... ;)

I do think you asked when dinner was, but I think I lost my appetite...

Jamie is Jamie Oliver (a british chef) who's orginal claim to fame was the idea that food should be fun..pretty quick and was very lively and did a "home based" series vs the idea of being in a restaurant style kitchen scene. Since moved on to other styles...

And "gunk" could (but I'm not Jenn so am not sure) mean such things as the fat, skin, livers, gizzards etc. (you know the stuff in the paper sack in your Turkey)...and this is by far the best reason to make you own stock. At least you control the "gunk" or similiar that goes in. I'm a huge fan of this idea (but will of course admit to buying stock quite often when I haven't saved up the needed bones yet I'm not that much of a purist). Still worried about your dinner?

Hmmmm.... you mean it's on ebay and it's not in the shape of Jesus' face or an alien's face or any other famous person's face?

Did I mention it did look a little like one of my :spy: identities ???

3. Of course we're keeping score. It's just that the scores are on a 'need to know' basis only. Frankie will understand. If someone ever wins, it will be the end of JQ as we know it. Do you really want to be the cause of that? Do you? :thedolls:

The score is being kept in multiples of humidity divided by the square root of toe jam, less troll hair, on the Dark Side of the Moon on Wednesday's every other Leap Year. All sung to the tune of ABBA's greatest hits. Who has an abacus calculator ???

As far as this Jamie person - I'll have to check him out, as I love British food, and the idea of it being fun? Even better! :D
