We just got back from watching it go down.It was totally awesome !!!:marg:Then went and had a marguirita!!! :D

i cant believe its gone..i really liked that casino..it was the first casino i played in when i was finally legal to gamble..first machine i went to..i won $300!!..itll be missed..

I am a big history buff and I know progress has to continue, but it's so sad how they have to tear down everything. The rat pack days were so cool it seemed, too.

Actually I don't know if the Rat Pack ever played at this place. They are famous for playing the Sands in Vegas which was demolished years ago to make way for I believe The Bellagio. I could be off on that though. Legalized gambling didn't come to Atlantic City until 1977. The Sands in AC was paling in comparison to many of the surrounding casinos. It wasn't very nice and didn't fit in with the landscape anymore. I'm usually with you in that I hate seeing building demolished but I think it was time for this one to go. :thumbsup:

From what I understand,the Sands in AC was the very last place that Frank Sinatra performed!It would have been really neat to know that the rat pack performed anywhere in AC!
I went to work the other day and had my first view of the skyline,how strange it looks now !!!

It was cool to see it come down. The Rat Pack never played at the Sands in AC but I beleive Frankie did. And Pirate your right the Sands in Vegas came down years ago, but it was to make room for the Venetian.

From what I understand,the Sands in AC was the very last place that Frank Sinatra performed!
Hmm It may have been one of the last places but the last public performance was in Japan and the last private performance was a golf tournament.

If you ever get a chance to go Vegas it's great. It is so different than AC. I think in the last couple of years AC has made some huge improvements but it's still so different than Vegas. It's strange, I had seen on A&E a couple of years ago that AC makes more than Vegas as far as gambling goes:confused:

My brain was totally confused for a moment! I watched the Sands in Las Vegas implode to make way for The Venetian and I had to remember Atlantic City! *LOL*
