I'm not planning to write an exhaustive trip report, but I wanted to share some highlights because the trip was so fun! I hope to add some photos later, too.
1. After Jacob and I checked in we went straight to our room. Jacob was surprised by a gift left by our roommate, Kathy (TikiGoddess). She had thoughtfully made him a Pokemon binder full of cards and other goodies. Rooming with Kathy was the best decision I made when planning this trip. Not only is she a kind, gracious, and playful person (think stuffed animal tag), but she made the experience a lot like being at camp. Thanks, Kathy!
2. Meeting up with an Intercotee, Brad192, on the bus from the Pop to the Magic Kingdom on Friday afternoon.
3. Seeing all the cool costumes at the MNSSHP meet, including Jack Sparrow, a couple Elizabeth Swans in different outfits, a giant Tootsie Roll, a Red Sox player, Fairy Godmother complete with princesses, Mary Poppins, the Grim Reaper, pirate with a parrot on his shoulder, and more that I'm forgetting at the moment.
3. Nikki was so generous with her "glowies"at the MNSSHP meet. Jacob was glowing about five different ways by the time she got done with him!
4. Mikki gave Jacob a pin straight away after meeting him at the MNSSHP. Although I had to remind him to use his manners, he was very grateful to have another pin for his collection.
5. Jacob had a lot of fun meeting Ben and Harry who are both fairly close to his age.
6. Kathy, Jacob, and I met up with Nikki and Greg at the Pop bus stop and went together to Epcot on Saturday morning. This was Nikki's inaugural trip to Epcot, so it was fun taking her on Test Track and seeing her reaction.
7. When the Intercotees rode Soarin', we all got in the same section and soared together.
8. Jacob and I got lunch at Sunshine Seasons and ran into Ellen and Ben when we went to sit down. I was glad to have the chance to talk to Ellen one on one.
9. A monorail ride from Epcot to the Grand Floridian tea was made much more fun when Jared walked in the door. Talking to him on the way over made the trip seem very short!
10. The tea itself was an exquisite break from the parks. Jacob and I sat with Kathy, Ellen, Ben, and Sherry. Jacob certainly appreciated having another boy at the table! The ladies all ordered a full tea with me, just so I wouldn't be alone in doing so. Aren't they nice?
11. Mickey meet at Norway! We met lots of nice people besides Mickey, but unfortunately I don't remember everyone's names. I enjoyed talking to Blythe about nursing, meeting Wendy from MJ...a fellow Coloradan, and finding Morgan with her folks. I think she was surprised that I knew who she was, but I try to read as many trip reports as possible and look at the accompanying photos.
12. The Illuminations meet was incredible. Not only talking with different people, but the view of the show, the desserts, the booty from Intercot. All wonderful!
13. Greg, Nikki, Kathy, Jacob, and I grabbed a bus to Animal Kingdom together and caught the opening show. After racing to the Intercot meet site, we found that no one else was there besides Brad and another couple whose names I'm having trouble remembering right now (sorry!). When the other Intercot folks were only about 7 minutes late, we couldn't wait any longer and got in the standby line. We were going through the queue quite nicely until it was announced that the ride was shut down. Sigh...We met up with many others from Intercot again at the Nemo show.
14. Although we divided from everyone else, Kathy, Nikki, Jacob, and I went on Primevil Whirl. Then we used our previous fast passes at Expedition Everest. Others had given their fast passes to us because they were leaving the park, so we were able to ride it twice in a row!
Final thoughts: It was hard to say goodbye, both to Disney World and to the people from Intercot. I truely enjoyed meeting everyone, even those I only met in passing. I feel blessed that I was able to go, and grateful to those who did the planning and organizing of the events.
Long live Intercot!!!
