View Full Version : Narnia....am I missing something??

I went to the Narnia attraction for the first time last Fall and I have to say I was very disappointed:(. On my second visit to MGM that trip the CM outside the gates told me to make sure I saw it because it was incredible , did I miss something?? I waited in line for quite some time, I think it was almost an hour. We went inside of this really cool looking room, I felt like I was in the movie and was so excited to see what lie ahead. Little did I know the exit door was what lied ahead. What a let down. I absolutely LOVED that movie and thought Disney was going to have this extravagant ride or even walk through, but one room, some narration and then that was it??

Does anyone else feel like I do?? Or did I miss something along the road??

I'm going back to the world in December and will be skipping that unless someone can convince me otherwise.

You thought you missed something. I'd never seen the movie and really had no idea what was going on. Kept waiting for something exciting to happen, but as you know, nothing does. You would think that Disney could do something better with the attraction for a movie like Narnia.

When we went in, it was basically a commercial for the new Narnia that's coming out. I was so irritated that I stood in line for a commercial.

... the CM outside the gates told me to make sure I saw it because it was incredible :confused:The CM must have been talking about the movie itself. There's no way anyone could say with a straight face that the attraction was incredible.

This was closed when we were there - sounds like we didn't miss much.

I hope they do come up with a great Narnia attraction...

We felt the same way, I couldn't believe it was over when it was over, I kept expecting something else. It was just an elaborate movie trailer which I think had a huge potential to be so much more.

We'd read and been told many times about what the Narnia attraction was like so we never waited in a line for it. When on our latest vacation we did see it, we thought it was neat, but even the trailer seemed short. I liked the part... (spoiler in white)when the Queen was there in real life, we were so not expecting that, so very cool. Glad we saw it, but yeah, not worth waiting in line for or seeing a bunch of times.

I was aware that it was a trailer when I went in but I still expected a little more. It really wasn't up to Disney standards.

I was disappointed with it.

Personally, I think the perfect ride for a Narnia teleport would be the Stitch ride. You could teleport to Narnia, and the White Witch could roam around.

Yeah, I LOVE the movie! So I was so excited to get to the Studios and see the 'exhibit' but yep.. I too was quite disappointed...they really could do so much better... a longer walk thru... maybe a 'trail' thru Narnia, starting at the Wardrobe, then basically 'following' the children as they journey thru Narnia... some real potential in the things they could do! But as it stands right now it is a disappointment...

My family was also very disappointed! We stood in line for about a half hour in 90deg heat to see nothing.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm glad I am not alone on this one.

When I went in I thought I was in one of the waiting/holding rooms until the real thing like so many of the rides -- lol, was I wrong!!

Having been victim to these walkthroughs before (Haunted Mansion movie, etc.), I never really bothered with the Narnia one.

But I will say, that I find it hard to believe it could possibly be worse than some of the others I've seen. The one for Haunted Mansion came complete with a CM reading narration through a microphone that worked about as well as two tin cans and a string.

In addition, she didn't speak English so no one really knew what she was saying.

This is one of those "attractions" that Disney throws up to add an item on the maps or on some list of "new additions." Frankly, it irks me every time I see something like this, because I know how ridiculously lame it is.

The Narnia attraction is definitely in the same vein as the Haunted Mansion movie attraction.

The lame nature of the attraction not withstanding, I enjoyed the first movie and am looking forward to the next installment.

Agreed, it's very irritating when they devote time and energy into building an "attraction" that has such great potential, and then do something so poor or lame.

We waited for almost an hour and when we went thru and came out were like... "Huh?!?! That's It?!?!"

Personally, I think a Narnia Scene in GMR would be a great addition. Or, even better, maybe once some of the other movies are finished, an entire attraction devtoed to the film(s).

That's exactly what we thought! After we saw the trailer for the movie, we thought we were moving on to the attraction. Boy were we surprised, when we learned that we were moving on to the exit! We could everybody around us saying, "That's it??"

It was certainly a big let down.:(

And to add insult to injury, we dilly-dallied and let others go ahead of us, so that we could get a better view. Then, just as we were getting to see everything, the CM told us that we had to go, because the next group was coming in. I still don't understand why we couldn't look at the stuff, since we were there first.

My opinion of this is: if you have the time, there's a wait time of less than 15 min to get in, and you like the Narnia movies, this is a neat little attraction although I was disappointed to realize that it all took place right there in that one room and it wasn't a lead in to something else. What little there is of this attraction is pretty cool - it's just disappointing that there's no more to it.

I wouldn't go again, but the movie costumes were worth seeing once. But then, I am a costuming junkie!

They had the Witch's battle dress, too cool!

Seems a lot of folks said they were disappointed, and expected more. I have to say, I wonder what people were expecting. On the map the description says "Step inside the epic film. Continuous 15-minute walking tour". To me, that says I'll be walking through a scene (or set) from the movie. Sounds to me like that's pretty much what it was.

I didn't go in because it didn't sound like something I was very interested in. Great for those who are, but not my cup of tea. But isn't that what WDW is suppose to be, something for everyone.

And what do you expect the CM to say, "come on in, it really stinks"..... don't think so. And to be fair, it is incredible , for those who like it.

Since you enter through the wardrobe into a fantastically themed Narnia room complete with the lightpost and snowy pine trees then exit into this warehouse-looking room with some movie props just sitting there, it's a bit of a let-down. I know I would have enjoyed this section a bit more if the areas in which the memorabilia sits were better themed - for example, instead of sitting in front of wooden crates, the "statues" of the frozen residents of Narnia could have sat in an area made to look like where they were in the Witch's castle in the film - a bit of fake snow on the ground and some fake castle walls would have been nothing for Disney Imagineers to create and added so much to this attraction.

Well actually, if it had been a walking tour, it might have been at least a tad bit more interesting. Basically, it was sit on the floor, listen to some lame narration and adios! My daughter loved the book and the movie and we were all VERY disappointed. It was D U M B!

Originally I thought this sounded like the walk through of the 101 Dalmations set of a few years back. That was a few costumes and some sets that were left from the filming. Not great, but interesting to see the artwork of the set people. These sorts of displays really are ads for the production and are not the efforts of the imagineers. So my expectations weren't high.

But now after reading this thread, it sounds like it is probably even less than my expectations so going to give it a pass when we're there next week.

Exactly! At least if you got to walk around and look at props, etc, that would be something. But as it is now, what's the point? I guess to feel some A/C for a little bit. We went last year and tried it again this year...not again!

Big build up...big let down. It seems like Disney had a big space with nothing in it so they stuffed the Narnia exhibit there.

It would have been cooler if perhaps we were in Santa's sleigh traveling through Narnia.

I was really disappointed too. I was looking forward to seeing a Narnia ride and we even had a hard time finding it. We were the first in line and didn't have to wait more than a couple of minutes to get in. I was on the phone with my DD at the time and she was telling me I was wasting my time. I decided to see for myself. She was right. Come on! Plain Christmas Trees and a movie trailer? I did like the part with the actress and thought we were moving on to something else. I thought "What a waste of someone's time to even set this up." Why bother? But that is why I don't go into a lot of things in MGM because they are a waste of time unless you are just into doing that sort of thing. And we were trying to see everything this time since we didn't have children along. But this was a bit much. :(

I can't believe how many people miss the main area of this attraction. After the pre-show you enter the warehouse section with the props. Off to the side is a wardrobe, this is the entrance to the main attraction. Inside are four more scenes from the movie with all the characters available for interaction with guests. The final battle scene, IMHO, is a Disney classic and a can't miss.:mickey:

what? there's really more to it? the two times we've gone to this attraction, you enter the wardrobe, watch the trailer, listen to the white witch, and then you are quickly escorted thru a little room with a few costumes and sent right outside by a CM. I've never been directed to anther room with more scenes, etc, just right outside.

And to be fair, it is incredible , for those who like it.I disagree. Of all the people who responded to this thread, only three liked it. Of those, two said it was "neat, but not worth a long wait in line." The third described something that I, the poster above me, and I assume everyone else, did not see.

I'm guessing that this attraction started as a temporary attraction and has stayed around.

When I was there in March 2006, a CM at the Backlot Tour said to be sure to see the Narnia attraction, since it was going to be replaced in June (of 2006) with a making of POTC (the movie(s)) attraction. Well, here it is late 2007 and Narnia is still there.

I had the opportunity to see the Narnia attraction again this August and it was the same as back in '06, except now they show the trailer for 'Prince Caspian' at the end of the trailer for the original Narnia.

Personally, I don't mind the attraction. I hadn't seen Narnia before my '06 visit and the attraction inspired me to watch the movie, which I enjoyed.

Although I like the attraction, there's no way I would wait an hour for it...maybe 10 minutes at the most....but I do recommend it for a quick visit if the lines aren't bad.

Perhaps if 'Prince Caspian' turns out to be a blockbuster, this attraction will be made more permanent and hopefully enhanced.

I want to know when and where you saw this part of the show? What was the date of when you saw this? I was hoping that we would walk through the wardrobe and actually see some of the scenery and characters and was disappointed that we didn't. Like the previous poster said, we were ushered through the warehouse and out the exit door. I think they would have said something to us if there was another door and another part of the show. Maybe they decided not to do this any more??? I kept asking myself, "Is that all?" It wasn't even worth going into.

Can't remember now if it was 2004 or 2005, but we happened to be down there the day the exhibit opened. I remember waiting and walking thru the que lines that this would really be a cool exhibit or ride.

Much to my chagrin, after a brief appearance by the white witch we were subjected to nothing more than a commercial and then escorted out, with a few props and costumes viewable in the exit chamber.

Sounds like it hasn't change since the opening. Does the white witch still make a brief cameo up near the ceiling?

Unless you are a huge Narnia buff, waiting more than 10 minutes is just a waste.

Since this thread started, I've tried really, really hard to remember what we thought of Narnia...and I can barely remember it at all.

So, that's enough for me...a Disney attraction I have no memories of...not good...we're the family that buys the attraction CD's and sings-along in the car!

DD loved the Naria movie...I hope they come up with something new and improved for the attraction.

There isn't even a wardrobe in the prop section let alone another whole room with interactive characters! Both times that we experienced it (yes, we saw it twice - it's better the second time since you know what it's about), we entered the first room with the giant wardrobe, listened to a little spiel about the story, then entered through those wardrobe doors into the "Narnia" room with the trees and postlight. We watched the action there then were herded past the doorway to Mr. Tumnus' house and into the small room with a few movie props. There were several displays of props to look at but we weren't allowed to linger long. We took a few pictures and were hurried out the exit by a CM.

This was definitely not worth the time, although I did enjoy seeing the movie artifacts and costumes. It was the same with the Haunted Mansion movie set that you could walk on in the same building when the movie was released. Both were just advertisements for the films without much else to see.
