In Liberty Square, the 13 lanterns hanging from the majestic oak Liberty Tree represent the first 13 colonies of the United States. Located across from the Hall of Presidents, The Liberty Tree commemorates the communal meeting place of the Sons of Liberty who in 1765 protested the imposition of the Stamp Act.
