We will be visiting disney early next summer and wanted to spend a few days in sanibel. although i've heard its beautiflul, i've heard many complaints about the red/brown seaweed problem. does anyone know about this? i'd hate to go down there and not be able touse the beach.

thanks:)

If you are talking about the sargassum grass sometimes it's hard to predict. Many times it depends on the weather and what has been washed in and the location of the "weedline" and gulf currents that change seasonally.
I was there in Aug 05 and we didn't have a problem with sargassum weed. Remember too that there is a stinging zooplankton that lives on the grass and swimming in it can make you pretty miserable.
I was also there in Feb. 04 and the wave action was pretty turbulent, it was a little calmer in Aug. and the water not as murky.
Honestly I've run into more grass on the more northern beaches like Destin.
From my experience I would say go for it, while some may be piled up on the beach it shouldn't be a problem. :sun:
