Hello all! Well I found the vendor and got the slip filled out properly! :whew: What a load off my mind. Speaking of loads, who wants to help me unload my 4-Runner??? Some wooden soccer ball yard signs (personalized with the girls names of course) and some wrought iron pumpkins found their way in there! Oh, and also some wonderful ribbon and tulle for DD's birthday treat bags, some great frames for my parents' Christmas, some fantastic stocking stuffers, a couple of home decor items (for the home I haven't even moved into yet! :blush:), and a little bit of otherrandom stuff.

I had to reschedule my hair appointment because my hairdresser seemed a little on edge. She was doing a girl's hair for homecoming and her family was crowded around. Family members had cameras and such( I didn't want to walk out worse than I walked in)
minus an ear or something....:D

Well - plans have changed slightly again. I was able to get an AP rate at the Caribbean Beach - so thats where we'll be Oct 11-15.

Hey Pogo - I tried one of your tricks last night - but not the big toe - the middle ones. Tried to kick that vacuum cleaner across the floor (no, I'm NOT the one who left it there!). Not broken, but definitely black and blue and tender. Hope they heal quickly!

The in-laws come tomorrow - time to finish cleaning :blush:. Gotta figure out something easy to serve for dinner tomorrow. How about something on the grill??

OH MY GOSH! You guys missed a KILLER soccer game this morning! We played the toughest team in the league, and spanked 'em! Needless to say I was pretty excited about taking my youngest child (the only one still at home) to both his and my first pro football game. Unfortunately when I woke up Sunday morning my back was in such bad shape that I knew there was no way I could sit in a vehicle for 3 hours one way, then another 3 hours for the game and then 3 more hours getting back home. So I ended up calling my daughter and asking her to come home and take my son to the game. Fortunately my daughter's college is only an hour from where we live so she was able to make it.

I am glad that my daughet and son were both able to go but I am still upset that I had to miss it. Hopefully after this next back surgery things like this will be in the past. However, I am not getting my hopes up yet.

Deb, a moon pie is kind of two round graham cracker cookies with a marshmallow center and (usually) chocolate coating. They're very good.Thank you! We call those Wagon Wheels -- and my mom would only buy them for extra special treats.... Don't they have Goo Goo bars down Nashville way? Can't eat them myself -- but my dad used to bring home cases of them....

Isn't that the same as a scooter pie? Marshmallow between two soft cookies encased in chocolate?? We used to have scooter pies in our lunch boxes all the time when we were little. Brings back nice memories.....:)

Chicken & corn on the cob.... it was SO yummy!! Has anybody else heard of the "dunking" method for putting butter on your corn? Our friends put two sticks of butter in a big glass jar full of water and heated it up on the grill... the butter melted into the boiling water but stayed on the top, and you would just take your corn, dip it into the butter and pull it back out - perfect!! I'd never seen it done before -- anyone else?


I think most everyone is doing last minute things before the big meet!

Ok, I'll admit.. it actually had nothing to do with will power and more to do with the fact that I was SICK! My tummy was turning and had a killer headache.. so NOTHING sounded or looked good...
I actually have lost weight this week, but again, it's more to do with my tummy upset... I'm still not feeling 100%... even my doggie is sick..
It all tastes the same.... my grandma LOVED white chocolate.. so I guess I inherited her taste buds.

Echinacea (2 capsules), Vitamin C (1 capsule) 2x/day and add in an extra 2 capsules of Ech. before bed... Zinc lozenges... Robitussin expectorant regularly and lots of water... and warm up some OJ, add 2 big tbsp. of honey and a liberal sprinkle of cinnamon... my mom calls in "Hot Orange", and it definitely helps!! Sending some "get well" :pixie::pixie: your way so you feel better SOON!!!

I work with kids and I am constantly wiping noses!!! I swear by zinc--I like the gum best. It will lessen the severity and the duration, I promise! Feel better!:)

I'm at work today... seems our receptionist decided to make an appointment with her lawyer and instead of having HER change her appointment my supervisor called me in even though I'm still sick... :mad: I'm fuming right now... this receptionist is catered too and NEVER has to change her appointments and stuff.. she takes 1/2 hour to 45 minute breaks (we are only suppossed to have 15 minute ones) AND takes 1 1/2 to 2 hour lunches (we should only get 1 hour) and NO ONE says anything to her... and I can't even be home sick... one of our buyers has the same stomach bug and she's home sick... so I'm NOT a happy camper..

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry to hear what happened.... that was definitely NOT nice what your supervisor did!! Seems like every workplace has their "favorites"... we sure have a few nurses who, no matter what, never seem to get more than a slight slap on the wrist, while others get the full wrath of the managers for the same kind of thing!! We once had a nurse find out her dog had been hit, and she basically left a laboring patient, said she had to leave, changed and left!! (And nothing was said....her dog was fine, and her daughter and husband were home with it....) Yet we also have nurses who find out their child is sick, and are told they have to stay and "someone else needs to get your child". ????? :mad:

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry to hear what happened.... that was definitely NOT nice what your supervisor did!! Seems like every workplace has their "favorites"... we sure have a few nurses who, no matter what, never seem to get more than a slight slap on the wrist, while others get the full wrath of the managers for the same kind of thing!! We once had a nurse find out her dog had been hit, and she basically left a laboring patient, said she had to leave, changed and left!! (And nothing was said....her dog was fine, and her daughter and husband were home with it....) Yet we also have nurses who find out their child is sick, and are told they have to stay and "someone else needs to get your child". ????? :mad:

Thanks Blythe... I can't believe that that nurse left a laboring patient for her dog when her dh and dd were both home with it...and nothing was said! I thought only I worked for a place like that.... let me add on to let you know exactly what type place I work for.. my dh was having BAD chest pains... they would not let me leave to take him to the hospital! I had to call someone from my church to take him and sit with him until I could get there after work..:mad: but there are others who seem to be able to leave if their goldfish looks a bit lopsided...:mad:

I would love to come work for you... but Canada might be a bit too long of a commute for me. :( I would never take advantage of an employer's kindness.. if I call off sick you KNOW I'm sick cause I go to the doct.. if I'm not sick enough to go to the doct then I'm well enough to go to work... that's my philosophy... I'm always on time... stay until the work is done.. don't take longer breaks than what's allowed.. and if we are busy I forgo my break or shorten it...

Hey all.. well.. I'm at work today... seems our receptionist decided to make an appointment with her lawyer and instead of having HER change her appointment my supervisor called me in even though I'm still sick... :mad: I'm fuming right now... this receptionist is catered too and NEVER has to change her appointments and stuff.. she takes 1/2 hour to 45 minute breaks (we are only suppossed to have 15 minute ones) AND takes 1 1/2 to 2 hour lunches (we should only get 1 hour) and NO ONE says anything to her... and I can't even be home sick... one of our buyers has the same stomach bug and she's home sick... so I'm NOT a happy camper..

I got an old pair of glasses standing at the ready in case mine break on vacation. I can't stand it when they break, because you can't see to fix them! I'm so sorry this happened! So sorry you're experiencing receptionitis. We had a bad case of that as well at one of our locations. We only were able to cure it by speaking to the location manager, by proving how it affected our productivity (i.e., show how it affects the bottom line).

Okay, Deb, one of my favorite things to use is peel and stick tape...it's a double sided tape. I use it when I need to make a quick store display. Also those little gold safety pins work. If you want to do a little hand sewing, hook and eyes.

My glasses broke! Just as I was getting ready to drive Ben to school. I narrowly escaped disaster myself!! My black transition glasses went MIA after Saturday night's dinner party, and we couldn't find them anywhere -- I finally went to the glasses shop to see about having a new pair made by Friday -- After they finished laughing at me -- I came home and looked all over again -- and found them nestled behind and under the mixer stand in the kitchen. :whew:
