My DD3 will be mostly riding in a stroller and not walking very much. Will she be alright in her sandals/crocs?

I just came back from a week at the park with an active 3 year old. She wore the sandals that she had worn all summer long just about every day at the parks... 2 days she asked for her sneakers... but the rest of the time she was in those sandals, and fine. I think as long as your 3 year old has broken in her sandals/crocs and her feet are used to them... she should be fine... I would just bring a pair of sneaks and a few pairs of socks... just in case, and for the occasional change.

My boys were 3 when we visited last year, and they both wore sandals in the parks a lot of the time. They did ride in umbrella strollers from time to time, or on Daddy's shoulders, but also did a lot of walking with no complaints regarding the sandals. ;)

I say she will probably be fine.

But, don't be surprised if she walks a lot more then you think she will. My DD was one month shy of 3 our last trip. She walked more then I ever thought she would and did great!!

I would perfer sandals over TENNIS shoes
myself. Look at a pair of TENNIS shoes most
of us have never even had a pair. They are
made to play tennis in. Much different than
a walking shoe are running shoe. I have seen
people in a light weight racing flat. Thats a
shoe elite runners use in a race. It will kill you
to walk in them. But most people buy shoes
for looks and the kid selling them at the mall
does not know himself. good luck

next trip

I may be mistaken but, I think some people call pretty much all sneakers, tennis shoes. At least I know quite a few that do. I don't think most literally mean tennis shoes. ;););)
I'd be curious to know if I am right. I don't think I have ever seen a true pair of tennis shoes.

I wear a good pair of running style sneakers, they are all sneakers to me. Kind of like the Pop/Soda thing. :D

Yes. Same here. I never say sneakers or anything else - just tennis shoes. I thought it was a Southern thing...

My kids (8 and 3) have always preferred sandals (or flip flops in the 3 year old's case - but i think she'd wear them in the snow if I'd let her!).

And we call them "gym shoes".

In Canada they are all running shoes (never sneakers) and it is always Pop (never soda unless referring to soda water) ... I love the differences from place to place!

I make my children wear running shoes at the parks -- with good support and good soles. They wear their sandals etc at the resort when going to the pool and such.

Tennis shoes, sneakers, whatever term comes to mind. Hard to 'sneak' up on someone in sneakers that light up! :funny:
My 5yo wears her sneakers to the parks and then wears Crocs or sandals to the pool and around the Hotel.

I think the sneakers/tennis shoes is more of a regional thing.
Anyway, we just got back last week and my 4 y.o. nephew didn't wear anything but his Crocs. We had his sneakers with us, but he didn't want to wear them. And he did a lot of walking/running.

In June, my DGS 3 wore his crocs the whole time and walked the whole time. His brother was in the stroller and he didn't ride at all. I was surprised how well he did. He wears his crocs all the time at home and never complained that trip.

Here in UK sneakers etc are all called "trainers"
I didnt realise you didnt call them that in US, till DS lost his at the pool at our resort, and the staff were a bit baffled when we asked if they had been handed in. I think they thought we had lost two people!

I've been going (grew up in FL) for many years and have worn everything from covered shoes to sandals to flip flops and so have my kids, go with comfort and remember to put sunscreen on her feet, I have been burned bad on the top of my feet before. When I went for Grad Nite, we had to wear dress clothes with heels!! Yikes, never again!

I owuld say put them in shoes that they are used too. I personally do not like Crocs and saw a lot of parents arguing because one croc has gone missing:)

sandals are usually great. They help kids keep cool by letting their feet breathe. But if you're going to be doing something with minimal coverage like flip flops, make sure you rememebr to put sunscreen on their feet. Feet don't usually see too much sun, and if they are going to be in a stroller, the sun will probably be directly hitting their feet, bad place for sunburns, especially becuase if they get burnt it's very painful trying to put shoes on the next day!

Me too. I think it's an Illinois thing.
