I just had to share this little story with you all. It's funny how the world has changed and how quickly children grow up these days!

I had a garage sale on Saturday. My daughter and her friend (both are seven years old) had a lemonade stand. They were THRILLED at the idea of making money! Well, I think they had "lofty goals" of making $10's and $20's by the handfulls, and they soon got a bit disappointed when their 25 cent lemonade and 10 cent cookies didn't fill their money jar too high.

So they asked us to watch the stand for a minute and went in the house. They came back out with a SECOND jar on which they had taped a sign that read "TIPS" . :funny:

And you know what? They ended up with more money in their tip jar than in their lemonade / cookie jar!

Later I asked my daughter where she got such an idea and she said, "Starbucks!"

Oh my...what have I done???

That's really funny, Christine! I think you've got a little entrepreneur on your hands there! And your story only goes to prove that kids take in EVERYTHING they see and hear!

That's a great story - very ingenious on your DD's part. She deserved that money just for coming up with that idea!

You have to love the way kids think sometimes.

That is the sweetest story!

My how things have changed from when I was 7 years old...there was no Starbucks, no e-mail, no Ebay...

My 3 year old granddaughter come over yesterday and walked into the computer room and announced "Grandmother, I'm just going to check my e-mail real quick" and grabbed the mouse and began to click away at the keys. I just about fell out, it was hilarious!

Just wondering what 30 years will bring....

:D Such a sweet and cute story! I know I for one would've paid a quarter for the lemonade and stuck a dollar into the tip jar - just because it is so 'durn' cute!!!!:D

OMG, that was so funny! Never would have thought of that when I was a kid. I remember gathering all our pop bottles/cans up and taking them to the store for the 10 cent refund and thinking that getting 50 cents back for a candy bar was amazing! Bless her heart for being so inventive! :D
