Here is the update to everything. I kept the original message in here. My sister is having the surgery/procedure on Monday to get rid of the kidney stones. Apparently there are two of them. I believe the doctor is doing the sandblasting method. I do not know what that all entails, but hopefully it will end her pain. They told her that they might have to put a stent in for one week, depending on what happens with the stones. The doctor told her that once they get this taken care of, they can schedule an MRI and take care of the tumor. He did tell her that it looked large, but that might have something to do with the kidney stone. I have no idea what the correlation is, but I guess he does. Thanks for all the kind words. I will keep you all posted.

Hi. I am in some need of pixie dust for my younger sister. She was in WDW on Sat morning, getting ready to go to MGM with her husband and 2 year old son. She was in her hotel room getting ready when she felt a sharp stab of pain. It continued for about 15 minutes and got to the point where she passed out. They had to call 911 and she was taken to the hospital. Turns out she has a kidney stone. The hospital wanted to do surgery on Sunday but since she lives in NJ, and her husband could not be with her because he was with their child, she chose to fly back to NJ. She checked herself into the hospital near her house late Sat. night. She was released on Sunday morning, with no surgery done. They want her to see a urologist on Tuesday and do the surgery Wed. She is in alot of pain. But, to make it worse, the hospital called her on Sunday. Turns out that they had a dr review her x-rays and they found a tumor on her kidney. We were not expecting that news. At this point we have no idea what it is. She will be going in on Tuesday to figure out what to do about the stone, and then will find another specialist regarding the tumor. I know that they can be benign, and I am so hoping that this is the case. She is only 33. She is a teacher and is supposed to start teaching on Tuesday. Any supportive words would be appreciated. We are all in shock and are just taking it hour by hour.

Many prayers and pixie dust sent your way! I'm sorry to hear about your sister. Hopefully the kidney stone is a blessing in disguise... if your sister does have a troublesome tumor at least they found it and can act upon it.

Keep us updated. We will keep you in our prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that. My father had kidney stones and they had to use a laser to blast them (this was in 85/86) and he hasn't had a problem with them since.

I hope that the tech got it wrong. Sometime they don't read the xrays correctly. I've had them say that they couldn't see my kidneys before (due to scaring - my sis and I have a rare kidney disease). I can tell you that you can live fine with just one. I received a kidney from a close friend last year and she is doing great with her one kidney.

My thoughts are with you, your sister and family. If you don't mind please keep us posted on how she is.

:pixie: on the way! How awful for her to have this interrupt her vacation, and then to get scary news. I'm sorry and I hope you get good news and a fast recovery for your sister.

My thoughts and prayers are with your sister. I hope everything turns out okay. I know that kidney stones are painful -- worse than childbirth. I have Medullar Sponge Kidney (both kidneys are full of stones -- non operable). One of the better kidney diseases to have if there is such a thing. Keep us posted.

This is exactly what I was thinking too:mickey:A nurse I work with had to have some minor procedure and they discovered the start of some cancer. He had it taken care of and has been healthy ever since. The kidney stone may turn out to save your sister's life. Loads of :pixie::pixie::pixie::pixie:and prayers on the way for her, keep us updated please.

Here's the latest news. She called the urologist today, to see if she could get an appointment. The earliest that they can see her is next Thursday. How ridiculous is that! The poor girl now has to go at least another week in pain from the stone and frightened by the tumor. They did tell her that if they can get her records from the hospital, they might be able to see her sooner. UGH. Thanks for all the prayers. It means so much to us. I will update you again, as soon as I have more news. We do agree with a lot of you, in that the kidney stone could be a blessing in disguise.
