Tuesday - MGM

Cast - me 38, DH Phil also 38, DD Stephanie 12 and DD Megan 7

Off to MGM bright and early today! I love to wander down the street and absorb that old Hollywood feel! The girls love all horses and this one (http://inlinethumb34.webshots.com/13537/2006279520102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)is no exception. Even 12 yo Steph (http://inlinethumb24.webshots.com/13143/2241440260102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) has to sit on it! We hit GMR first - I love this theater (http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/11143/2460615010102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) and the girls love this horse (http://inlinethumb06.webshots.com/11269/2695553020102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) (again!). There was actually a line and a 20 min wait here - I haven't seen that in several years. We had the gangster scenario again (we've never had the cowboy scenario) but it just wasn't right. Our gangster was a girl! What's up with that? Girls weren't gangsters! And to top it off, both she and the driver weren't good actors, the gangster car effect didn't work right, and the alien didn't decend from the ceiling! After we headed off to grab FP for ToT and watch B&tB. They cut a few scenes from it and it didn't flow quite as well. We went to check out RnRC - Megan got measured but was still too short (I already knew that but she didn't believe Mom). I got a baby swap pass and Phil and Steph went to wait in that 40 min line. Meg and I headed off to shop (she got new flip-flops), eat some pastries at Starring Rolls, watch HSM Pep Rally, and then wait in the gift shop at RnRC until Phil and I could swap and Steph got to ride again. Time for those ToT FP so off we go! Megan hasn't ridden this either and is terrified. She had a death grip on Phil and I the whole ride and pronounced that she hated it when it was over. I tried to take a pic of the ride photo (http://inlinethumb49.webshots.com/13104/2961668020102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) - we're in the back row. Phil and Steph were jealous of the stop in the bakery so they decided we had to go again so they could try it too. Steph had a really great turkey sandwich. We went to watch Indiana Jones (Phil wants to be Indy (http://inlinethumb13.webshots.com/10892/2066370970102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)) and rode Star Tours which is one of Megan's favorites. Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper were there for a meet and greet but the line was closed so they told us when to come back. We went to meet Sulley and Mike (http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/10788/2366383940102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)then over to the Streets of America to meet Kim and Ron (http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/9882/2430497180102032678S600x600Q85.jpg). We played with the umbrella (http://inlinethumb12.webshots.com/11787/2186848650102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) and Herbie (http://inlinethumb60.webshots.com/9403/2095225880102032678S600x600Q85.jpg), Megan saw Woody (http://inlinethumb10.webshots.com/10889/2151664650102032678S600x600Q85.jpg), then we watched the Muppets. We ran back over to Star Tours and jumped in line for the meet and greet. The Stormtrooper "shot" me (http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/11243/2419460610102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)because Phil said to him "and you thought your boss was tough" when I badgered him to get in the picture too. The girls wanted to get a picture on the speeder bike. There was a Photopass photographer here and another CM came up with a messenger bag that contained 2 light sabers. She loaned them to the girls for this great photo (http://inlinethumb60.webshots.com/12539/2440675720102032678S600x600Q85.jpg). It was now time for dinner at Mama Melrose's (with the Fantasmic package). We've eaten here a few years ago and were disappointed in the fare this time. It wasn't bad but not nearly as enjoyable as in the past. After dinner, the kids played in the HISTK playset (http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/10262/2761071020102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)but it was so hot in there we couldn't stand it for long. We wandered into the "subway" (http://inlinethumb32.webshots.com/9951/2639176190102032678S600x600Q85.jpg) on the way to One Man's Dream. While inside, it rained really hard outside so we took our time exploring. We went over to Narnia where a really sweet CM took our picture (http://inlinethumb59.webshots.com/11386/2206288740102032678S600x600Q85.jpg). It was time for us to show up for Fantasmic so we headed off to the dinner package entrance, stopping for this picture (http://inlinethumb45.webshots.com/10732/2527104340102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)along the way. We'd never done the dinner package before so we've never entered this way - what a long walk! The reserved seating section is a pretty great location compared to where we usually end up because we refuse to enter hours before the show. Afterwards, we followed the crowd out - or so we thought. We found out near the exit that everyone had gone the wrong way because some people took the ropes down in their hurry to get out. So the whole crowd had to turn around and head out the right way. Once back on the street, we decided to poke around in the gift shops and let the crowd thin before heading to the bus. Phil tried on this great Buzz hat (http://inlinethumb51.webshots.com/10930/2518671980102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)but I couldn't convince him that he needed to purchase one. After exiting, I took this picture of the entrance (http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/11254/2766793830102032678S600x600Q85.jpg)for old-times sake since the name will be changing before we get there again. Finally, back to the bus and off to bed with plans for MK tomorrow!

I am enjoying your photos within the reports. Your girls are really cute. Great day except for Mama Melrose. I am 50-50 at that place. Had one bad and one terrific meal. Thanks for sharing. :mickey:

:mickey:Glad you had such a great day. I love the pictures. Sorry about Mama's. We've only been once and nothing on the menu appealed to us, so they made something totally different.

On to read more.....

Sorry to read about Mama Melrose's... we went there last October and loved it.
Great photos too!

We've always had the gangster scene, too! And we also had the girl gangster, and she wasn't very good at it (sorry to say, she just wasn't). I was really hoping for the cowboy scene for a change. I also love that Mary Poppins horse.

And to top it off, both she and the driver weren't good actors, the gangster car effect didn't work right, and the alien didn't decend from the ceiling! .......
We had these same issues with the ride back in may. Bad actors, unenthusiastic hosts and same problems with car and alien not working properly. Very disappointing as this is a favorite of ours.

We'd never done the dinner package before so we've never entered this way - what a long walk!
Same here! We couldn't believe how long the walk was. Pretty crazy.

But you guys seem to be having a good time! I'm glad to see the Singin' in the Rain umbrella back up. It hasn't been there on our last 2 trips.

Another fabulous day - too funny about the Stormtrooper "shooting" you! Great pics, I especially like the one of the girls on the speeder.

She had a death grip on Phil and I the whole ride and pronounced that she hated it when it was over. That's ok, at least she tried it. My DS, now 9, still won't try ToT!

Thanks for sharing, Kathy !
