Question regarding paying for meal

When we have our trip in September we are on the dining plan. However, we have 2 adr's that we plan to pay for out of pocket. So my real question is if I get a disney gift card to put the amount of money we need to cover those meals. Could we also include the tip to be taken off the card? I am not sure how that works.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Whatever the total amount of your bill, tip included, would come out of the balance of your card. It is used just like cash or credit cards. Money is Money.

The tip can be taken off the gift card as well.

Be aware, there are a FEW places on Disney property that don't take the Disney Gift Cards - I don't remember exactly how it is worded, but my understanding that if a restaurant isn't owned by Disney (e.g. Rainforest Cafe) you won't be able to use a Disney Gift Card to pay for your meal.
