The Zen of Disney...Day Ten
Cast: Meg: 43: trip planner and tour guide; 6th trip to the world
Dave: 51: general all around great guy: 6th trip to the world
Dave and I declared this day to be a resort day. We both were feeling tired, and we both wanted to enjoy the animals. We slept in a bit, had a late breakfast in the lounge, and then we browsed around the gift shop. I started talking to a great CM who worked in the shop. She had lived in Maine for a while when her husband was stationed there. Dave and her husband were both in the Navy, so we talked about that, and just had a good time chatting. We also met a Cultural Representative from Namibia named Willi. He was dressed in traditional flowing robes and carrying a walking stick shaped like a giraffe. We talked to him for a while and I had my picture taken with him. He gave me a card with his email address and asked me to email him a copy of the picture!
We had lunch at the Mara. After lunch, I decided to go for a swim, and Dave said he would just stay in the room and rest. (He doesn’t swim very often and he really was very tired!) So I headed down to the pool for about an hour and a half. After that, I went on a photo safari of the lodge. I went to the very end of each wing and to every viewing area I could find. I got a lot of great pictures, but the best one was right outside our room. I was able to get a picture of a giraffe leaning down to get a drink.
When Dave woke from his nap, we headed to the lounge for appetizers and cheese and crackers, and then back to the room to watch our animals. Then back to the lounge for dessert. We called it an early night, because we were going on the Sunrise Safari the next morning!
